    H-scene clichés

For all my fapping to h, I am a bit tired of just how formulaic they are. I figured I'd make one of them bingo thingies for h scenes. Feel free to suggest replacement standard phrases for defloration / simultaneous orgasm.

  2. I've pulled together a ragtag group for the translation of Aiyoku no Eustia. We've methodized our translation, and should consistently be translating 50 to 100 lines a day. We made a website for our translation here: http://blanktranslations.wix.com/blank-translations As you can see, the website is still unfinished. We'll be tweaking things here and there over the next few days. We are still looking for 2 translators and an hacker. If anyone is interested, please follow the contact information on our website.

  3. Let's play a game Fuwa. While sitting on my profile page contemplating how I could express myself to the community a little more, and idea hit me and I struck gold. About a month ago or so, I remembered a thread that asked who your top 3 waifus would be. It was a pretty interesting thread to read, seeing as I was never into that sort of stuff, but it didn't really expand on everyone's 2D universe as a whole. It gave us a small peek into it, but that's about it. I thought to myself hell, there are so many characters in the world of visual novels and anime that people love so why not make it into a little game instead? So I ask you guys, if you could pick and choose your 2D family and friends, who would they be and why? Give me descriptions about their personalities, what sorts of relationships you have with them, and above all, pictures! If that doesn't make sense, check out my profile page and see for yourself: https://forums.fuwanovel.net/index.php?/user/5213-originalren Now I am not saying you need to go as far as doing what I did, but hell, it might be a cool addition if you want to make it similar to my own. With that, let the flood gates open. Show me the world of 2D!

  6. Interesting. This is going to be tough. Oshino Shinobu Shinobu gets her own seperate category and there's nothing you can do to stop me. Her relationship with me would be like that of in the series with Koyomi. That is all. Girlfriend: Tachibana Marika Marika is one of the most devoted girls to her love I've ever seen. She's a good cook (read the manga for proof), she puts her loved one first before all, she's cute and despite her outter personality she can get really bashful which is adorable. And most important she's fully honest with her feelings, something a lot of characters usually don't have. Marika would be someone I'd definitely enjoy having as a girlfriend and is one of my top characters. Imouto 1: Shiro Why? Because cute is justice of course! Well mainly because she's super intelligent and having her as my sister would compensate for me being less intelligent. That and she's a NEET like me so she wouldn't care if we both just wasted our lives playing computer games. Imouto 2: Itsuka Kotori She's a sadistic tsunderes which are one of the cutest archtypes out there. Her leadership skills are pretty handy and she owns a giant spaceship which I could travel in. And she'd beat me up which is perfect for my M self. And she has super powers. Onee-san: Yonomori Kobeni If there's ever an Onee-san I wouldn't mind having it'd be Kobeni. She's a great cook, she cleans and she takes care of people. My household would be safe with her around. Maid: Feiris nyan Because who wouldn't want to be served by a cute nekomimi maid with a smile everyday? Not to mention she's a great character, it makes me want to take care of her instead of her taking care of me. Pet: Haruka-san Because I can that's why! Despite her low IQ she's actually really handy as she can multiply and change sizes. And she's really cute and makes sounds. Only problem is feeding her. Best friend (female): Momo Belia Deviluke Momo is one of the most helpful characters I've encountered. She never puts herself first when helping the ones she cares about, she helps with pretty much just about anything and she even wants her loved one to have a harem. What a wonderful character. Momo would definitely be someone I'd like as my closest friend for whatever needs. Best friend (male): Takanashi Souta Need I say more? Bokke: Aito Yuuki He's pretty hilarious, i'd never get bored around this guy. I'd probably go along with him on his trips just for the lulz. Tsukkomi: Otosuna Mihari Because the tsukkomi needs to be related to the Bokke, I believe Mihari would fit this purpose very well Friend 1: Nakano Azusa Because someone needs to play the guitar. She's also an adorable Kouhai, I want to pet her head. Friend 2: Saigusa Haruka Haruka and her antics always amuse me so I believe things would always be interesting with her around, we could both tease Azusa together I believe. She's also a great character. And that's it. I believe there's plenty more characters I wanted to put here but if I did the list would be endless. Granted some of these just popped in my head and I put them there for the sake of filling the blank but I do believe in what I wrote about them.

  8. Bishounen? Gore? Vore? What about a combo of the 3? It'd be like a yaoi hentai of Hellsing Ultimate.

  9. I would not like to have my genitalia spread 10 times as wide for the purpose of barely squeezing through a tiny human, or piss blood once every month. I'd prefer to be a gender capable of producing a million sex cells everytime I sleep as opposed to having limited supply of gametes that run dry when I reach 50.

    Minipocalypse

What did you all do during the mini Fuwapocalypse, which will be dubbed the Minipocalypse? It was rather eventful for me. I have finally come out as being a Fuwanovel addict, which is summed up here. Then there was the small spurt of power I gained in IRC. But then Ohiowar had to go ruin it all...

    S/M explanation?

A few points about human sexuality and SM. Almost all humans carry S and M factors, both. There are very few people who aren't at least latent in both, even if they've never experienced sadism or masochism. If there is one thing you probably won't be able to avoid if you play VNs... it is confronting your sexuality. I'm forced to live with the fact that I'm capable of both, though I tend to be more sadistic than masochistic. People who are all one or the other usually have extreme trauma or personality disorders of some kind. People who possess sadism with no tint of masochism tend to be borderline sociopaths, or at least narcissists. People who are completely masochistic tend to be the opposite... extremely sensitive to others moods and desires, lacking confidence, and/or lacking other pathways toward releasing stress. Extreme masochism can also be caused by psychological trauma, usually intertwined with an intense self-hatred or guilt. Extreme sadism can also be caused by psychological trauma, usually intertwined with resentment, hatred... and self-pity. It isn't exactly a pretty fetish (no fetish is really pretty, but meh). However, SM is a fetish all of us are latent for, whether we want to admit it or not.

  19. Even in Japan, VNs have only really exploded beyond ero-fans in the past decade and a half. In previous decades, 'serious' VNs were a rarity. However, the relatively recent (the last fourteen to fifteen years) expansion of the plot-focused side of the industry is slowly altering the way they are seen, both over here and over there. As the thread author states in the video, VNs will never be other than niche, precisely because more people are functionally illiterate (they can't sit down and read a book and feel that it is enjoyable) than ever before. Anime fans that never get beyond dubs are classic examples of this type of person... they don't want to read subs, so they live with sub-par English voices instead. You have to be introduced to reading for fun pretty early, if you want to be able to enjoy it. With more and more kids raised by their televisions, I doubt this trend will reverse itself anytime soon. (incidentally, studies have shown that the human brain's cognitive functions develop faster the more you actually read, rather than watching videos or listening to lectures) I started out as a speed-reading bibliophile... and so becoming a VN-lover was just a natural step, once I was introduced to them. I've watched the fanbase and market for VNs expand rapidly over the last five years here in the West, but I've yet to meet a person who started their otaku life as a VN fan, who was born in the West. Almost everyone enters into otakudom through role-playing games, anime, or manga. So, it is only natural that VNs would be the weakest branch of the otaku tree here. Like the author says, the biggest barrier besides the reading aspect (which is ultimately the biggest one), is the sexual aspects. One of the most ironic things about the VN industry is that better than 90% of the best VN plots come out of the eroge (VNs with erotic content) part of the VN medium. This sometimes gets me to thinking about whether good writers just want to write about sex... or good writers are using the sex to get people to pay attention to their writing. Another barrier is that, unlike manga and anime, there are relatively few VNs that appeal to both genders. Otome games are basically unplayable to the average guy, outside of a few truly excellent entries, and only the best male-oriented VNs are enjoyable to both sexes. For the otome game side of things, the issue is really, really simple... DIDS (Damsel-in-Distress-Syndrome). Almost every otomege I've tried has had this fatal flaw, where the protagonist spends most of her time either afraid of the guys, looking to be saved by the guys, and/or actually being rescued by the guys. Since I grew up respecting women as equals, this pisses me off when I have to deal with it - especially when the female protagonist is otherwise capable and strong-willed. The reason behind this seems to be that otome games get the same treatment as romance novels as a genre over there. Who takes romance novels seriously as a genre here? There is a reason why most of them sell for less than the other genres, whether in paperback or hardcover. Another problem blocking growth of the market is translator burn-out. Fantranslation is an incredibly thankless job. If you do badly as a group, people bash you for your horrible translations, and if you do well, you get other translators nitpicking about your mistakes. Not only that, but you are basically giving up dozens of hours of your time for free. Volunteer spirit only takes you so far, and the appreciation of the community starts to feel empty after a surprisingly short time. Even passion eventually burns out entirely. In my case, what was left when all of the above occurred was the simple fact that I want people to be able to see what I've been seeing for the past five years, as I've delved into the depths of the VN abyss. I don't like people... but even I want to be able to share my passions on occasion. Since I've spent most of my free time on niche hobbies for the past twenty-two years, that's definitely been lacking overall, but with untranslated VNs, it has gone to another level. Now that I've ranted, a few serious thoughts. VNs in the US will ALWAYS be balanced on the precipice, for several reasons. 1. Erotic content: A society influenced by Christianity or Islam is inevitably going to be prudish... and democratic political parties are always looking for the next social lever to use at the bully pulpit 2. Piracy: The entire medium's growth in the West beyond nukige is due to fantranslators making patches, thus resulting in mass piracy. Since game piracy is seen as a big issue and the government is always looking for a new criminal issue to distract people, all fantranslators are taking a risk to a greater or lesser extent by working on such projects. 3. Niches tend to narrow when times are hard 4. For those who aren't in the last stages of Otakuitis (the disease that causes one to become an otaku and grows worse as one indulges the accompanying impulses), VNs are difficult to get into. As such, if there was a movement to get VNs out of Western markets, there is a good chance no significant opposition would even be put up by the otaku community. 5. Most bibliophiles, those most likely to enjoy VNs, would rather read actual pure-text literature. These define both the limits and dangers that will always keep the medium on the precipice in the West.
