Can't be Helped + Artist Requests
Darklord Rooke and 4 others reacted to OriginalRen for a topic
Oh for the love of... Who the hell am I kidding? You don't leave Fuwanovel. For all that is good in this world, you can't leave Fuwanovel. Once you're stuck here you're stuck in a pit of molasses; a fly on a spider's web (cut me slack on that analogy, it wasn't easy). Try as I might, I can't walk away from this website. My trigger finger is itching to fire off some new projects I have sitting in the wings, and who the hell is going to showcase those projects with all the newbies joining the site and roaming the land? There are so many people I enjoy working with on this site that I would feel awful if I left. Still, quietly coming back is just not like me; I've always been about grand presentations I guess. I woke up in the middle of the night sweating for crying out loud to type this message because I felt there was something missing in my life, and I realize now that no matter how much negativity affects us at times, at the end of the day we are the same people. This place will always be a home to me with the same positive energy I know and love. That sounds pathetic, I know, but it's the truth folks. I've said it already, and I'll say it again: We are a family. We are one messed up family mind you who sometimes want to rip each other's faces off, but you're damn right we are a family. With that being said, let me start by saying a few words regarding the mess surrounding my desire to leave Fuwanovel. It's a simple step-by-step process you see, one that I hope will shed light on a few things: Step 1 - I messed up, and trolls got to me personally. There is no step 2. And that's it. I am extremely thankful for everyone that went out of their own way to encourage me to keep at it and assist me in some personal matters. I am also grateful to those who are continuing to do so. Done. No more on that. Now, while I would love to spam this thread with all of the ideas I have in store and jump right back into the swing of things, there are a few loose ends I need to take care of beforehand. Dealing with those in the next day or so will come next. Still, I can give you something, and in that regard, I need the community's help, so please read on! Ren's Project Mascots I have decided to elect 2 new mascots to represent my projects on the Fuwanovel site and beyond (YouTube, Mixcloud, etc.). While most people use original characters for this kind of work, I wanted to choose characters that I think represent the idea behind my project development quite well. I originally got this idea when thinking of the famous Japanese blogger Danny Choo, who uses his own original character, Mirai Suenaga, as his iconic representation. As a fun fact, did you know she has her own airline service, as well as the fame of being Japan's official mascot for tourism in 2013? In addition, she is the same girl featured in Yuzusoft's Dracu-riot! background images and posters. Still, while I never expect to be as popular as him, I do think having some sort of theme to my projects will help establish a "personality" for what I do around the internet. These candidates (as some of you may have been aware of beforehand) are the following individuals: Hatsune Miku and Jakuzure Nonon The reason I chose these 2 girl's to be mascots for all the projects I do is because I believe they represent how I view things when it comes to making projects. Miku is a producer, a developer, and a music creator who sort of represents how I myself am a creator of projects (to a much lesser extent). Nonon is a performer (marching bands anyone?), so I thought what better person to use than her to showcase how I like to "put on a show" for the community. Plus, I am madly in love with her heh. Now, before you say to yourself how I have totally gone off the deep end, at least here me out. I need artists! I will of course be willing to pay you for the time you spend in doing this little project for me, but in short, I need good artists who are able to draw these characters effectively. I would like to have these girl's be meshed into single pieces of artwork (aka together), as well as drawn with unique flair and costumes/poses for my projects. If you are at all interested in helping me out in this endeavor, please, please, please PM me as I would A. love to see what you can do, and B. love your help. If you have any questions, let me know as well. Thanks guys! And with that, I end this post. Thank you again everyone, and I hope you can welcome me back one last time.5 points -

Tsukihime
SpacemanSpiff reacted to Skeith for a topic
Tsukihime Rated 18+ The story begins in a recollection of a boy called Tohno Shiki in his childhood years. There, he gains a power out of this world - the ability to see the "death" of people and things. What is the meaning of this power, and what can he do with it? This is his story of finding the missing pieces of the puzzle. The girls that the player can end up with are: Arcueid, Ciel, Akiha, Hisui, and Kohaku. ENDING GUIDE Please note that each of the characters, except one, will have TWO endings. The FIRST playthrough will let you get the TRUE END, and LOADING from a checkpoint for that character can get you that character's GOOD or NORMAL END. If not, you may have to replay the route again. NOTE that the choices that you see within this guide are the choices that the AUTHOR used. It is the author's recommendation that you play in this particular order so that all characters' routes can be unlocked. WALKTHROUGH GUIDE ~Near Side of the Moon Routes~ Arcueid Brunestud's Route True End Good End Ciel's Route True End Good End ~Far Side of the Moon Routes~ Akiha Tohno's Route NOTE: You will need to have cleared the game once before you can get Akiha's Endings. True End Normal End Extra Normal End Hisui's Route NOTE: You will need to have cleared the game once before you can get Hisui's True End. True End Good End Kohaku's Route NOTE: To properly play Kohaku's Route, you will need to clear the game twice before you can get this ending. Once with any Arcueid's or Ciel's Endings and once with Hisui's True Ending. Hoshi Ori Yume Mirai Discussion
Chronopolis reacted to edwd2 for a topic
I know it's released yesterday but after finishing just sora's route, I think this could be worthy of discussion. While the common route and initial character route was typical of a highschool pure-love VN, what I especially liked was the After story set several years after college where more mature themes like work and marriage are involved. While most VNs end shortly after a confession and a conflict resolved, perhaps with a brief epilogue or FD, this one takes things further and it's essentially a sequel of almost equal length with the same slice of life narration style, set years later, quite rare. I can name a few works, say clannad, irohika, hoshizora EH, that also take us to marriage and family, but those are reliant on a supernatural setting or a dramatic plot to retain the reader's interest. Few of this category hold the same slice of life-ish pace or the same everyday events you'd see in reality to keep us reading. I think this isn't bad at all since I've always been more interested in the life of our characters as/after they become mature adults, not highschool kids. So I hope I can see more of these time lapses in future works, and especially FDs. The love confession and all that is just a beginning, but most novels only leave us with a fairy tale ending "they lived happily ever after" (probably).1 point -
Hullo.
silverpikachu99 reacted to Lucky Bucket for a topic
Hullo. Mr Meowgii is forcing me to make this so. Hiiiii I have been around since march already, and was too lazy to create an introduction topic. You can call me Lucky or C4 (if you happen to know me on skype/steam) , or whatever I'm not picky. Some might know me from hanging around in G&C. Stuff about me: I'm lazy, get off-topic really easy and I like gaming, anime and manga. I've read quite a few visual novels already (the English translated ones) but I can't remember which because I never made a VNDB account (Did I mention I'm lazy yet?). If you recommend an anime to me I'll watch it, but chances are if romance/comedy is involved I've already seen it since I have A LONG list of bookmarks with anime I've completed (Just like with VNDB account I don't have a MAL account). As for gaming I prefer to play RPG's although my favourite game at the moment is Payday 2. Some IRL stuffs. My name is Timothy. I have 2 cats, 3 younger sisters. I'm moving out on my own soon and I work in a bakery. Hope to get along with the rest of you.1 point -

Once I started studying Japanese and thought I knew it decently enough.. I got the urge to import Japanese video games. Well, then I realized they were still a bit too difficult for me to play without constantly stopping and checking up the dictionary and such.. lol. Still, one day I would like to play them without having any/little difficulty. So, it's one of the things that keeps me motivated xD. I was just wondering has anyone else imported video games? Which ones? And you can share if you've been able to play through them or not. I'm just curious how many imported Japanese games others have. If you've finished them, you can share whether it was good or not ;p and difficulty level. Here's my current list: 1) ホワイトアルバム (PS3) White Album only played the intro. Kanji level was still a bit too much for me and I only knew basic level grammar, lol. 2) ニノ国 白き聖灰の女王 (PS3) Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch I stopped at the part where I headed to the shrine in the desert (with the yellow haired girl)? I forget why I stopped actually... xD 3) テイルズ オブ ヴェスペリア (PS3) Tales of Vesperia I actually haven't even played it yet.. just really liked the english version I played and wanted it for the PS3, plus extra story & characters xD. But I doubt my level is good enough to play it yet anyways. 4) 月蝕の仮面 零 (Wii) Fatal Frame IV: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse I actually bought this to play the English Patch before I knew any Japanese at all.. I may try playing it again someday without it^^ 5) タイムトラベラーズ (PSVITA) Time Traveler Well, I couldn't help it considering I love time travel stories... It has furigana so I thought it'd be a good game to practice on too. Buut still haven't tried it yet, being lazy I just watched Zakobot's videos, since I found out he was doing it at the time I just got it, lol. 6) テイルズ オブ デステイニー2 (PSP) Tales of Destiny 2 only played the intro. I plan to try playing them again when I feel my Japanese is at a higher level.. especially kanji!1 point

Sakura Spirit original VN by MangaGamer, Sekai Project and Winged Cloud
yashasupercow reacted to Okami for a topic
It's fake, 3 days don't have 300 hours in it. This VN was released on 07-09 and this "review" was made on 07-10, 3 X 24 = 72 true as we don't see time of the day of review it could be closer to 4 days but still 4 X 24 = 96 where did he found the rest 233 hours. and 3000 hours, there's not that many hours since date of release till now, 21 x 24 = 504, could be 22 x 24 = 528, still nowhere near 3000.1 point -

Aha, pedobears are everywhere. That has to be the second best line I've read today xD Anyway, I think that disjointed techniques for learning pronunciation are probably somewhat doomed to fail. What I mean is that if you use a robot to translate single words, it's still gong to be hard to incorporate them into speech. I would guess, at least. If I were you, I would either find some TV to watch in english or find a friend on skype and talk with them (it could be over an internet game or just about whatever... heck, if you wanted to talk to me I would do it).1 point

Altered Fable comes after Alternative. Beat Alternative and you'll know how it leads to Altered Fable. - Yeah, they finished Kasumi and Meiya's arcs. My hair is smoking hard. I want to finish MLA now so I can jump AF and get Meiya and then Sumika. I hope they translate Kasumi's arc. I wanna know what she's thinking of. Almost there!1 point -

Loli's are art (Not all 'art' is art tho). Child porn is child porn. Pretty much loli≠RL children, 2D≠3D Most the world won't see it logically as that as a lot of people are saying in this thread. I pretty much agree on that. Hopefully the lobbyists won't affect the work of the anime, vn and manga business. I am afraid they will slowly reduce the amount the business can express itself. After a while affecting more sectors. Might be very far into the future. Never the less... Cause of worry. I support this new law OP posted btw, if someone wondered about that lol.1 point

Dear Steve, Like I mentioned in our PM, all of this came at a difficult time for me, and I’m sorry it’s taken me this long to respond. I wanted to make sure I understood my feelings and could articulate my thoughts sufficiently well to give you the credit you deserve, and push back a little (because that’s what we do ) (I shouldn’t have underestimated you, you sly devil ). I’ll first respond as a friend. You have put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into Fuwanovel. You are a man of many talents, and the work you produce is always top notch. You’re passionate, and, for better or worse (depending on whether or not you’re on my side in an argument ), you’re extremely principled. Steve – you always give 110% to projects you believe in, and I admire that in you. Very much so. I believe that Fuwanovel has benefitted much by your optimism, your enthusiasm, and the hundreds and hundreds (and hundreds!) of pages of text you’ve generated in replies and posts. Nobody writes a wall of text quite like Steve. (I mean, I like to think I do a pretty good job of it, but you’re a master. *Raises glass*) On a more vulnerable note – I can think of at least four times when I went to you with self-doubt, self-criticism, or simply feeling low, and you were always supportive. Many people know you as the potentially-insane loli overlord – which you are! (the overlord part) (jury’s still out on the crazy bit) – but I’m grateful that our work together has shown me another side of you. I think you’re a fundamentally good human being who cares (sometimes too much) about people. Our friendship means a lot to me. … Even if I keep blowing you off about D&D. As a friend, I feel like this move is probably good for you. You’ve entered a new phase of life where you’re boldly exploring your Japanese skills, you’ve got a thumb on the pulse of translation projects, and you’re brainstorming/planning some other secret projects which have a lot of potential. I’m excited to see what your lazer-like enthusiasm and work will accomplish. Like I said before, you’re exceptionally skilled and your work is always top-notch. I know that your biggest projects and brightest days still lie in front of you. On the flip side, the Tay-as-administrator part of me has to hand it to you. This post was cunning and clever ; ). I disagree with many of the points you raised and the picture you painted. But I'm not sure that it matters. This was your decision, and like I said, I think it was the right one for you. Not because you aren’t welcome on the staff (I will very much miss your help), but because I think you have new projects and horizons to explore. So, in the end, I’ll raise a glass to you. As with most everything you do, you gave it your all. If anything I’m sad to hear the tones of struggle and defeat as you describe your experience. I hope that with time, you’ll look back at this chapter on the staff as positive. It wasn’t all defeats and clouds. We all have had our time in the sunshine. You have bright days ahead. I’m looking forward to where they take you. All the best. Truly. - Tay1 point

A thank you gift, eh? I don't really have anything to give. Hmm, how about the amazing album of Flaming June (Maeda Jun + Yanagi Nagi), Owari no Hoshi no Love Song?
