So I had this dream nightmare where I did a 50 gem draw and all I got were Eris and then they suddenly popped out of the screen and hovered around me saying "Horosho" over and over again, no matter where I ran they followed me. It was not a fun night.6 points

VN Reading Club - Registration
Chronopolis reacted to Kaguya for a topic
People do this often with books, so why not? A lot of people lack the motivation to read VNs, or don't have someone to talk to once they finish a fine work. I was thinking of making a "VN reading club" of sorts, where every month we decide on a VN, read it and do several activities related to it, from just random chatter to more organized things, such as rewriting a character of a VN in the universe of another, make guessing games, extend the ending of a VN with what we think would happen next, write reviews, etc. If this actually happens, I could even give make the activities competitions and give some prizes for the winners every month. Oh, taking part in the activities wouldn't be mandatory. I realize a lot of people are busy, and you can skip a month if you feel like it. The important part is motivating everyone to pick up a VN monthly~ So? Do you think it's a good idea? And if so, would you like to join? ~~ VN Club History: November: Ayakashibito December: Forest February: Shikkoku no Sharnoth1 point -

Well, here I am. 24 years of living a life of ups and downs, and I am finally ready to pursue my dream of teaching English in Japan. It's funny really, because it feels like I am saying goodbye to so many things in my life by doing this. While that may be true in some cases, it's sad to think of moving on that way. Most people tell me that this is a new beginning and something to look forward to, and I agree with them; I wouldn't be standing here today were it not for so many friends and family supporting me along the way. It's interesting actually because my major in college had nothing to do with Japanese language or the culture of Asia. I was a French and Italian double major, and to this day my parents still question why Japan is something I want to end up doing. Honestly, I can say part of the reason is because of the awesome people I met on this website. Now before you read on, let me reiterate the fact that I chose this path in my life for many reasons, but this website and its many unique personalities are what drove me to continue down this path. The family aura emanating from this website is both heart warming and inspiring at the same time, and I know that no matter what anyone says, that feeling will always remain with me where ever life may lead. One of the greatest things about doing the podcast is getting to know all of the unique individuals from this site, and it always puts a smile on my face when I hear people comment on how friendly all of these people are; it really is something special. That being said, this message is not a reflection on my time spent on this website or a means to communicate how awesome it is, but rather this message is a thank you to every single person I have had the pleasure to meet on Fuwanovel. Thank you everyone. Thank you for being who you are and what you do. To all the people I have had the pleasure of working with, thank you. To all the members I have made friends with outside of this website, thank you. To all the upcoming people about to create a great legacy for a website that means so much to them, thank you. Thank you Fuwanovel, I cannot say it enough. To every single person I have had the pleasure of being a friend with from this site, I love you. You are all fantastic individuals (no matter how much you troll sometimes ) and deserve to be praised for it. You have all given me a chance to do something I enjoy doing for no monetary value whatsoever. You have given me what I love most about doing what I do for this website, and that is the joy of others. Sure, it may sound stupid, but in essence it's the truth. I love making other people happy and I love seeing people excited, because it really does put a smile on my face. Please, I ask you to continue being who you are and to continue being a family. Each one of you is an amazing person, and I cannot stress that enough. So for that reason, I say a final thank you, and hope to see all of you sometime in the future and in Japan. Who knows, hit me up sometime when you are around there and we can grab a bite to eat! Thank you Fuwanovel, for everything. Ren1 point -

Hellsing Ultimate is the best show to show to young to middle aged people. It has a brilliant dub, so they won't be sitting there unable to take it seriously because of Japanese. It has a unique, not-very-anime artstyle that doesn't seem to be any particular nationality. It's bloody and quite dark, so they won't underestimate it as some weird Japanese light-hearted crap. And finally, it has Alucard. Need I say more? Cowboy Beboop is old and, while probably very good, wouldn't be able to really catch a newbie who isn't into anime's attention Baccano is downright bad as a gateway anime because it's so damn confusing. Steins;Gate is very anime, so the newbie's prejudice come into play and makes it hard for them to get into it. Gurren Lagann is good, but still not perfect. Can't judge Psycho Pass since I've never seen anything about it. I would imagine that it'll still suffer from prejudice, though. (I've seen bits and pieces of Beboop, btw.) Spice and Wolf is too... boring. Nothing really happens and it's a character driven show. Not very exciting, and thus wouldn't be able to grip a newbie very well. Toradora is a highs school romance. Worst possible kind of choice. Monster is only good if the newbie is a hardcore crime fan. Shiki could be good, but very slow start. Monogatari suffers from the same problem as Toradora. Nah, I'm still the senpai.1 point -

It is true the title of the topic certainly attracted me, but I cannot see how you'd think I'd welcome this particular member when I hardly ever do so to any other. You're right though. Welcome to the forums. I hope you have a spiffing stay here with us. You've played Air and it has become one of your favourites? Great. I'll ask you a question, then: How... er... Key-like (read: manly tears inducing) is it? Does it have a good ending in the end? If at all possible, answer those two questions and solely those two questions. As for my parting gift, have an image:1 point -

SilverLi reacted to Darklord Rooke for a topic
I will. I also might write up a review when I'm done with it. Initial prognosis (I've only played an hour) is that SOTW is fun in the same way JRPGs were before they started taking themselves so seriously (and before Square became obsessed with interactive moviemaking.) Has a few technical issues but nothing too serious. I highly recommend giving the free demos a go if you're undecided. The games are fairly consistent, in that if you like the demo you'll probably like the game and vice versa.1 point -

The system is actually simpler than it looks though the English vocabulary they used is a little annoying. But honestly you learn it in a day, it's nothing big. Let me try to explain. Think of the girls as cards. That's what they are really. There are 4 levels of cards. Normal (N) Rare ( R) Super Rare (SR) Ultra Rare (UR) Obviously the higher the rarity the bigger bonus they give you like abilities to boost your scores in lives, etc. They also usually tend to have cuter art. These are regarding the u's members. Now you'll notice there's more random girls here and there. Think of them as canon fodder (i do). Their skills are usually low and they don't have special abilities. Their best purpose is to be sacrificed to level up your rarer cards. They are earned all the time through lives and scouting so only focus on leveling them up when you've leveled up the rest. Of course as the name implies rare cards are hard to get and don't even get me started on how hard it is to get an UR. How do you get them, there's 2 ways 1 is regular scouting. Regular scouting usually gives you one of the normal girls but it has a chance of giving you rares too. You spend friend points on normal scouting. Friend points are obtained in game. The 2nd method is by special scouting which will always guarantee you at least a rare card and it can only go up from there. Special scouting or honor student scouting as they call it costs love gems. Love gems are harder to earn in game, they're earned by completing goals mostly or by buying them but that's expensive. I also suggest you save up 50 of them because that 1 extra rare card is a big deal. Now onto leveling up there's 2 leveling systems. Regular and special practice. In regular practice you select the card you want to level up and then select the sacrifices, this is when having a lot of useless canon fodder comes in hand. This practice raises the card's skills. Special practice means combining cards, you combine 2 of the same cards to get a new version of that girl that has her level cap raised so if a card could only go up to lvl 40 it can now go up to 60. That's the jist of it. Mind you if you had a previously leveled up card and want to combine it make sure you select it first so you don't lose any levels. Cards can also only be combined once. And last but not least, attributes. There's 3 different attributes the cards have (smile, cool and another i forgot) and those attributes are tied to the songs so if a song has the smile attribute (the pink one) the more girls you have with a high smile attribute the higher you'll score and the more exp you gain. Same thing for the other attributes. There's an option to auto generate a unit, based on all the cards you have with the attribute you selected, it'll basically generate the best possible team with that attribute. That's what i do to save me the trouble. That's the basic mechanics of the game really Level up, complete goals, unlock story and songs. And collect all the cards~ Top level comedy. Laugh pls.1 point
