Hi there, I thought about making this thread to look back at my year 2014 and tell you something about it. So you can learn a little bit more about my humble person. Well, I would say my "offline" year was pretty usual. I worked the whole year in the same job at the same company and thats good because mostly I like it. I've an interesting task and much freedom. It wasn't that challenging but it's okay (I like to have some stress). My personal life was also the same. One thing that changed (offline ) was that I gained a new hobby which made my freetime more diversified. I've started to play golf (how snobbish ). It's fun and I kind of have a little talent for that. But I havent played a tournament till now so I'm still at the starting HCP 54. Another thing that happened is that I discovered Go!Go!Nippon! on Steam at the end of winter in 2014 and totally get hooked by VN's with that. DAMN!!! I played it not because I was so much into Anime, Manga & Stuff (I was totally not) but because I always was a fan of the japanese culture and way of life. After 2 or 3 months I've tried several other Vn's, I finally made an account here and thats the reason you all now have to endure my existence (MUAHAHA). With that several other changes came to my life. At first i was sucked in the Love Live Universe by the game in July. After I loved the game that much I watched the Anime that lead to my addiction for animes. And in the last month I watched Nisekoi and loved that also, so I had to read the manga. And now I'm also sucked in by that. You see it's a vicious cycle I can't escape anymore. But I also don't want to escape that because I enjoy everything of it. Thats the Review part I would say. Now to the thanks part. Therefore you have to know a little bit more about me. I'm a person who doesn't really enjoy it to be with other humans. Well, it isn't so that they don't like me or I don't like them (in contrast, I would say most people really like me, but only god knows why ). I'm just no real fan of humanity. Many people just cheat, lie and do nasty things. So I try to avoid it and have not really a bunch of friends, just acquaintance. My hurdle or beeing a friend is really high you have to know. I have 5 People i would call friends and all of them I know longer than 25 years. So that enough about that... What I really wanted to say is that I found here many people I started to like and maybe would call something like friends. I thought about listening them here but because I could forget something I will not. Everyone who feels adressed is the right one . To all of these thank you for that enjoyable second part of this year. It was a lot of fun and i'm thankful that you are here and chat with me. I hope that will go on in the next year. Another thing to the site here. I was part of a bunch of community but none o them caught my attention like that one here (I think nowhere i made even 100 posts and here I'm almost at 500). Also to all the people at TS3 -> thanks for your time spending with me. To summarize -> Thank you all for your beeing, I enjoyed every day and hope that will continue. So and now to the Wishes part. I'm not a greedy person so that will be short. I'm just hope I will be happy.I hope I can go on here and enjoy it to be around and meet many new people. In my job life I hope I can clarify my future. Somehow I've some wanderlust and I think I'll try to get a job in some other country. So I hope I didn't forget something or just wrote crap. IIf you have made it to that point -> Thank you for reading!!! ________________________________________________________ tl;dr: Thank you all !!! I think I jad a really good year and you were part of that. And another fact... That thread I didn't made for my own. You all can post here your year and your wishes for the new one. Let us be a part of your thoughts. And now... I wish you all a happy new year and don't party too hard to see you here around next year . Edit: One thing i forgot. Thats the first Thread I created here so I hope you enjoy it ...9 points

Wanted to let everyone know that Tiagofvarela* has been chosen to head up the Dev Boards BM team and join the GM ranks. I wish both of us well as we start dealing with the inevitable and numerable PMs we'll be sharing as we get the dev boards rolling. *(just FYI -- I spelled that from memory. Boom.) A lot of very talented and 100% qualified folks sent in applications. I responded to each one as of early this AM, so please check your inbox. Many of my replies had questions for the applicant. Please lend him your support -- the dev boards hold a lot of promise, we just need to get the system ironed out -- and lend him a hearty congrats.2 points

For me, a vn stands out compared to other entertainment mediums because of the method the story is presented along with the types of stories themselves. The first person storytelling is great with all the inner thoughts of the protagonist being fleshed out so that you are able to understand why someone does as he/she does instead of just having them do something. It also goes to see how different people think and how messed up some mindsets are. This personally allows me to have a more emotional touch with a lot of the characters and the story. The types of stories themselves are very interesting as they find different ways to abuse the VN method of never seeing the protagonists face or the multiple routes to add little details/major plot points to the story.2 points

I have a similar problem it seems...not with being bored with repetition, in my case I think it started when I switched jobs. Due to a small amount of free time I guess I just tend to just use it randomly (like now), but I think those little bits of time could be used for something if I actually tried to maintain some sort of a schedule. maybe look at this article http://time.com/2933971/how-to-motivate-yourself-3-steps-backed-by-science/ It tells you neat-o stuff like "research shows happiness increases productivity and makes you more successful" as well as "people instructed not to think about sex exhibit greater arousal, as measured by the electrical conductivity of their skin"2 points

WELCOME TO FUWAFM! OK, so since I started getting into otaku culture, one podcast-ing group had caught my attention from an early level: Podtaku. (for their page: http://www.youtube.com/user/podtaku ). While they may sound at first like a group of serious otaku talking serious anime business, they’re really just a bunch of drunk friends, and they SOMETIMES watch anime, so they talk about it. A little. Here and there . But regardless, I found their work to be very fascinating and entertaining. And when entering fuwa, and getting to know the awesome community and all, I thought it deserved a podcast that kinda reflects the kindness of the community, the diversity of it, in the same entertaining no-bars podtaku system. Ofc, this is not to say I want to make a second official podcast or something. Ren’s podcast is the only official one atm, and it has different goals and methods in its system. It’s for everyone to participate in. I just felt like this one would be more on the fun side of things. So we've actually done quite a few episodes so far, about 3. Number 0 was just a test (and it’s probably best if u skip it, unless you’re really interested in knowing Monmon’s disturbing fetishes), the 1st is about the 5 Ws (the why, when, where, what, who’s concerning VNs), the 2nd is about Cliches (mostly), and finally in the 3rd we discussed VN (youtube) reviews. I would like to mention that the quality is kinda low in the first episode, but it’s still worth it to just hear Monmon’s voice xD. Our quality gradually improves the more episodes come out Our last episode:- A few things you might want to know:- 1-This isn't a public podcast for everyone to participate in. It’s mainly for my small group to just rant about stuff. Yes, we often ask for assistance from others now and then, but it is we who come to you! Not the other way around. 2-We don’t have a schedule nor a time limit. We do episodes when we feel like it, though it’s usually once every two weeks or so.1 point

Mr. Poltroon's Holiday Message and Pretty Much Entire Life History
Onlineglax reacted to Mr Poltroon for a topic
I understand. Out of all possible people, you probably weren't expecting me to make one of these. First of all, don't delude yourself. I'm not writing this next to a fireplace with snow coming down outside with hot chocolate on my secretary and the dog sleeping at my feet. I'm in my cold room with the dog barking at the door, probably heard some kind of noise outside, with no drinks or sustainment of any kind and rain is pouring down outside. At any rate, here you go, my very own Christmas Message to ya'll. Merry Christmas. -Mr. Poltroon That ended up somewhat short, didn't it? Let's make up some more stuff on the spot. Like... like... oh yeah. My experience on Fuwanovel and stuff! I found out about Fuwanovel, and Visual Novels, right around the start of this year. What introduced me to visual novels was a very enjoyable game for me, by the name of "To the Moon", I highly recommend you play it, never know when my hitmen might knock on your door. Right around the same time, and purely by coincidence, I also found out about the Phoenix Wright series, another excellent group of games I suggest you play, for your own good health and whatnot. To the Moon showed me good storytelling that could come from this media, while Phoenix Wright showed me the comedy that would later become the reason why I play Visual Novels (I know, terrible reason, though perfect match for a terrible person). While searching for more, because people always want moar, moar, moar, I found out about this website. The first Visual Novel (at least in a truer sense) I played was Ever17. I was very scared, since I am a victim of the altogether too common irrational fear of the unknown, you see? Anime didn't have all that much of a good image in my mind at the time. I later found out my image was spot on, at least relating to nukige. Having thoroughly enjoyed the first game, I proceeded to play the sequel and prequel, and this is where I first used Fuwanovel. I used a walkthrough for Never7, and the first I found was the Fuwanovel one. Moving on, Fuwanovel became my place for walkthroughs. No, I had no idea I could download them here. Wonderful. The first VN I downloaded from Fuwanovel was Little Busters, and for a while, the only one. I fear the unbeknownst to me, I'll remind you once again. Keeping with that logic, I stuck with All Ages titles for a good 5 or 6 titles, it took me nearly a year to get through these. Of course, All Ages eventually ran out (at least those I was interested in), forcing me to try my first "eroge" so to speak, G-Senjou no Maou. Quite a challenge, considering it was my first contact (of my own volition) with pornography of any kind . You may choose to believe this or not, but I'm simply not very interested in matters of copulation. What a terrible topic, moving on. I eventually reached Grisaia no Kajitsu in my quest for mighty loot. I adored it. Like, really, to the point where it made me make my first post on the forums. I always make an account even for one time searches. Simply a pet peeve of mine, disregard it. You can check my first topic here, where you'll notice I was trying to keep any and all warped personalities under wraps. https://forums.fuwanovel.net/index.php?/topic/4111-greetings-equally-addicted-human-beings/ But that's enough about Fuwanovel, it's not like any of you care about that old thing anyways, right? Let's address myself now, I'm sure you're all itching to learn about my own life, asking questions like, "How much further can he boost his ego?" I'll show you: I'm a 28 year old man with a job at a local sports club (management side, don't ask me to do exercise, pls) which is rather well connected to my family. Great 'friends' with the chief, actually. Two sisters. Two parents. Exempting the older sister (that hater ), we all live together. My family is a fairly happy one, but I've come to think, just how different is it from other, perhaps more normal, families? It's pretty much a free-for-all around here. If an argument starts, younger sister uses up all opportunities to take a jab at the parents, the parents argue with each other and I attack everyone. If we all sit together to eat, making fun of everyone and everything is the norm, usually at someone's expense. And the main thing? The heavy, heavy use of sarcasm. Don't think I'm a wrinkled old grumpy man, this is how I was born and raised, and to be honest, it's plenty fun. I don't know what kind of image that gave you, probably a despicable one, but we're all happy people. I'm a natural pessimist, which when coupled with my usual personality does not produce good results, but what can one do? This makes me what I consider to be a horrible person. Makes fun of everyone, but doesn't get involved himself. Takes a jab at everything, even what he agrees with. Avoids any kind of responsibility, using "I think" and "Perhaps" to escape certainties. A craven to no end. This is who I am, and I'm well aware of it. My family is well-known as a funny one, myself included. That one guy who's fun at parties, but you might not be interested in getting too attached, might you come to understand what's beneath the funny surface. But this is who I am, and I know it well. Self-improvement seems fake and hollow to me. Being yourself seems the best way of life, so that's how I do it. Now... Let's tie this all up with Fuwanovel and finish up. I'm sure at this point only a couple of you have read this far, but worry not, I wasn't expecting anyone to really read this anyway. Fuwanovel is the only forum where I've stayed this long (not even a year yet, huh?). The reason for this is how I haven't been reprimanded much about my manners. I strongly feel that if I can't be myself, I've no place here. And, to be honest, I'm totally fine with not having a place anywhere, I know I'm not a person who's easy to get along (especially on a bad day, lovely). Strangely, though, Fuwanovel hasn't shunned me away like I thought it would, so it's certainly a happy surprise. In the end, thank you everyone, for making me happy (so self-centered ) and letting me feel at ease here. There's a courtesy kind of thanks, and then there's this kind of thanks. They're different, and especially when coming from me, one of them is pretty rare. I wish you all a Merry Christmas, and a fantastic New Year, because I do care about the seasons, for believe it or not, I too am human. :xmas: EDIT: Because I really have nothing better to do (lies, it's all lies), I have made this for your laughing at me pleasure: https://soundcloud.com/tiago-varela-3/sets/christmas-message/s-4tn1T1 point -
Sure, why not? Merry Christmas, everyone. Hope you're all enjoying your holidays. Forgive my horrible timing, I was busy wasting my time in nord ruins of Skyrim these days. I've already wrote how did I get to know about visual novels in my small introduction on my profile page, but I don't mind saying it again here - I discovered G-Senjou no Maou on a hentai-streaming site. I've been using torrents for downloading for quite some time before that, so I searched for torrent trackers that might be seeding it and accidentally stumbled upon Fuwanovel. After finishing Haru's route I downloaded Grisaia no Kajitsu and If My Heart Had Wings afterwards. At that time I've become interested in the forum of Fuwa, and I registered my first account (it says "retired" now). My first impression was a little odd, to say the least. I've been an active member on an anime forum before coming here, but I haven't seen as many people having waifus and preferring 2D world to 3D as here. I enjoy both of them myself, but I still prefer 3D to 2D. I grew accustomed pretty quickly, made a couple of friends. "Kinda" tried to contribute to this awesome community of yours, but that good will didn't last for long. Partly because of my own laziness and partly because of the lack of any attractive things to contribute to. Now, "Pretty Much Entire Life History" part is coming up. Are you really interested? I'm 17 years old. Born in Russia, living in Italy with my mother and her partner. No brothers or sisters. My father can as well be dead. How the heck did I end up here? A few months after I was born my father took my mother and me to our parents to Ukraine. Upon arriving there he told us that he thinks he's not ready to have a family yet. Living us to our parents, he returned back to Moscow. My mother, after recovering after the stress, received an offer to go working in Italy. She accepted it, and I was left with my grandparents. A few years after she got there, she found a man who she fell in love with. They started living together and at that time she started to prepare the documents for me to transfer here. She spent more than 6 years doing it, and at the time everything was ready I was 12 years old. Upon arriving here the family of her husband started to create all sorts of troubles to me and my mother. We've never been able to discover the true reason behind it, but the most plausible possibility is that once her husband discovered that his children he had with his previous wife were being jealous of my mother and me he decided to get rid of us. Under the pretence of finding a job as a manager of a restaurant to my mother, he moved us with our belongings to a new place, where we spent 2 years until we had to close because we weren't able to pay rent nor for the restaurant, nor for the place we were living in anymore. At that time my mother got in touch with a man we're currently living with. He invited us to stay with him, and so we're living together for a third year already. Happy end? Not really. The man has tons of his own problems to solve, so he can't fully dedicate his attention to us. Can't say he's any eager about it either. To heat the house we have to use electric heaters because there's no heating in the place we're living. We can't keep constantly turned on either because the electric bill grows to the sky. We do have a fireplace, which fills the apartment with smoke whenever you try to start a fire in it. Apparently the chimney is too short for the smoke to escape efficiently. Perhaps I should add that there are no jobs to be found here. But we're living near the sea, so I suppose it's all worth it. Too bad it adds enormous amount of humidity to the apartment, though. Unlike Tiago, I'm a natural optimist. Everything has a positive side to it, you just have to see it. I like pondering about philosophical matters (that's a little hobby of mine). Aside from that - I love music, especially listening to it. Currently learning Japanese, but who cares. Pretty Much Entire Life History - check. Ah. Holiday message, right. Happy holidays! I hope you'll spend them having as much fun as you want, doing what you want when you want where you want. Thanks again for such an awesome community, everyone. Please continue being awesome. P.S. Heizei - I'm expecting a similar thread from you now.1 point

Going to translate a novel (not from JP) to English
TimeWarp reacted to Funyarinpa for a topic
A young adult novel series I really enjoy- Ulysses Moore- currently has 15 books and 13 of them are out in Turkish (originally they are all Italian) and only the first four books have been translated to English. I'm planning to translate the books (starting from the fifth) to English. I'm planning on scanning several pages and putting them into the translation as well. I want to publish my translation online. Which site should I use for the translations? Wordpress? Blogspot? Tumblr? I don't plan on including downloadable copies yet. Inconsistencies in Fuwanovel's PM System - Message Subject

This is probably really weird for a thread... But I don't know where else to report this finding. (I've decided to post here as per Tay's "Important Note") Anyway, I'll do my best to showcase this with pictures. But if I click "Use Full Editor" with a huge subject already inserted it doesn't cut it off. Full Editor doesn't let me write subject bigger than a certain amount of letters, but it's fine if one was already there.1 point -
Thoughts about Narcissu and Narcissu Side 2nd
Zalor reacted to InvertMouse for a topic
Fantastic stuff . Narcissu is my all time favorite visual novel series and I am glad you enjoyed it so much! As Fiddle mentioned, Narcissu's soundtrack is indeed one of the best. The series has been with me for nearly a decade, and not a year goes by when I do not listen to the soundtrack at least once. Regarding the text taking up more space than in other VNs, it was indeed an interesting approach. However, as the games progressed from 1, 2, 3 and then the PSP title, the set up slowly reverted back to being graphics dominant. I feel that despite their attempts to experiment, in the end, they fell back on pretty pictures. Entirely understandable. Speaking of the PSP release, that one is meant to be the definitive version. I bought a PSP just for this game, and for me, it was absolutely worthwhile. Some extra stories were average, but other bonus scenes I would carry with me forever. At one point, I even read it while I was walking along the street. There, I confessed ! On another note, there is a two volume manga series based on the first game. I usually have no interest in retellings, but I made an exception for Narcissu. It surprised me to discover that the manga has rearranged some scenes, added new perspectives, etc. I can no longer recall the specifics, but I ended up loving the manga adaptation. For me, that is the best version of the tale. The author had a second chance to improve things, and he did a great job with it. Zalor liked Side 2nd less, and Silvz has little interest in the series at all. These different perspectives keep the discussions interesting. For me, I thought the first game was unbeatable, but I ended up loving Side 2nd even more. I like to unofficially rank characters as if they were cars in Gran Turismo. D, C, B, A class, then S class . Only two characters have ever reached S class in my books. The first is Kawana Misaki from ONE, and Himeko from Side 2nd is the other. They reach a level where I stop calling them characters, but instead, simply people. Regarding cliches, to be honest, the second I hear hospitals, terminal illnesses, etc, my eyes are already rolling. Narcissu's execution is what makes me fall in love with the story. Perhaps a part of me hates myself for loving the game so much. It should have been a contrived tear jerker setting, yet I am unable to contain myself, because the story is told in such a sincere fashion. In Side 2nd, the friendship between Himeko and Yuka stirred me more than any romance route I have played. I genuinely wish them the best, and I so desperately want to know what happens to them after the story ends. Again, in the PSP game, there are extra chapters revolving around them two. I see can see the heart pumping through those words. A heart not blocked by any writerly attempts to impress. By the way, I do believe next year (which begins in two hours here!) is Narcissu's 10 year anniversary. I have a packed schedule, but I would love to arrange some celebration. How do you choose your Heroine/Hero?
sirjabberwock reacted to Rose for a topic
All of those are valid methods and I consider all of them, aside from cohesiveness which I usualy don't care that much. Beauty always gets a heads-up since you know how she looks before knowing how she is, but it sometimes loses in the end. I think personality is the most important one since following a route while disliking the girl is plainly painful. I swear, if I had left Yumiko's route (Grisaia) for last, I'd have killed myself. I don't think I have an absolute favorite, but I usually have one for each novel, like Saber (F/SN), Tonya (Ayakashibito) and Sachi (Grisaia).1 point -
Why is it Christmasy? First off, one might notice that it has "Christmas" written on it. Furthermore, the keen of mind might also realize that this word is written in red, a color associated with this particular season. Perhaps it is also worth mentioning that I got a bunch of bananas for Christmas but forgot how quickly they expire, so I needed to waste use all of them quickly, and making the most of what one has is well within the holiday spirit. Mind the scribbles I used to get the red pen working. -_-1 point

Hanayo and Rin are characters who's major traits aren't just what define them, but how the traits are used, which makes them overlooked. I planned on making a small post about Hanayo for her upcoming birthday though. Just a bit on what I mean, to use the shyness, Umi is shy for the sake of being the "strong girl with the weak side", a typical (and loved by many) combination of traits. Ordinarily, shyness is just an "adds on to the rest of the stuff" type of endearment. Hanayo on the other hand is based on this trait alone, and there's where her purpose comes. Instead of it just being a trait, it defines her purpose. She dreams of being an idol, she wished she were more out going, but her shyness is the factor that stops her previously. The same goes for Rin and wanting to express her feminine side more but couldn't. I feel like tbis post was low quality and my thoughts are being ordered poorly, so I apologize, I'm running on 3 hours of sleep, starting my day at 10:30am, and the later I go to sleep, the more tired I am later -_-1 point -

I've played every version of NBA 2k since 2010... For me it's the best sport sim out there. I think the current version is a really big step in the right direction.1 point -
