GifV Media Tag As many of you know, Imgur released a new "format" called GifV. It is pretty much just a h.264 video without controls that plays on loop. The main reason for this, was to decrease filesize, as GIF is not an ideal format for longer files or larger. (there is also hope that mp4/webM format may be allowed in the future) As more and more content on the site is moved towards this new format, we are left without means to link these as we would a GIF file. I'm posting this here, mostly to see if there is interest or issues with this, at which point we can push for implimentation.

No, the censors are nearly always part of the images. When mangagamer or Jast releases an uncensored VN they first have to get the uncensored assets from the japanese company. And often the uncensored genitals are rather ugly because there's not really a reason for the artists to put a lot of work into something that is just going to get censored.

Apparently, Eden* is going to be released at the end of this month. For those of you who were looking for something truly fascinating to play, it is a good choice. So here is the contradictory statement that I don't understand - you say " but a piece of fiction is never really excused for embracing racism in any form" right? I don't see racism being embraced. I see some characters saying borderline offensive stuff (not even racist really, as tacky as "yellow fever" is, it's not actually RACIST. As someone who has had racism directed at me before, I can attest to the difference here). In any case, it doesn't appear to be "embracing" anything. Does Silence of the Lambs embrace "cannibalism" because Hannibal Lector is a cannibal? Does "American History X" embrace Nazism because Frank Minke (was) a white supremacist? This is my entire point - characters are just characters. If you wanted to say that HuniePop had a racist message, or a political message on racism or something, then that'd be one thing, but it seems somewhat beyond the pale to claim that because a character is written to be insensitive, that the game itself is "embracing racism". There is a pretty huge difference here, because once you start going down this path of loose correlation you're making it "politically incorrect" to have any character in any game, movie, book, tv show, etc, that has any behavior that is objectionable.

Don't use media tags on GIFV and it works. Add webM, ban 4ch!

You're always on my mind, I couldn't help it <3 It's about roadtrips and music. Three girls & the protagonist (in drag) form a girlband and tour across japan during their summer break. Likeable characters, great soundtrack and overall very immersive. It's one of my favorite VNs, if that's worth anything.

I think it's all about circumstance, and the type of VN; I'm all for the derpy "oniisama pump my ***** full of your ****-**** until I'm pregnant!" porn-fluff when it's a nukige. After all, you buy it/download it knowing (normally) full well what you are getting yourself into. Story-driven VNs, it's alittle more complicated... I personally prefer a more emotional/connected hscene, if it is to have one at all. I don't think they should be removed - as sexuality is just as important in a relationship as anything else - but overplaying that hand can just lead to /facepalms. I think EF did them right, and even one or two routes in Katawa. As hot as some scenes are (and I like alot of them in the same base fashion as anyone with a pulse and apprication of 2d), It can come across as excessive, a obvious tool thrown in to cater to the porn-hungry. Like I said, it's a complcated issue - the "good" VNs really don't need hscenes to stay "good" (1st time I read FSN, I had completely forgotton it was a hentai VN until the first one started lol). But at the same time, they woulden't be the same without them~ Even Clannad - which I loved with all my heart, somehow felt "off" by not having hscenes, even though it does "not" need them. Perhaps some of us are just conditioned from all the blatant sexualization in anime/VNs, to expect it~

+1 for Kiniro Mosaic, season two is airing in April~! If you want other cute slice of life comedy, try Gochuumon Usagi desu ka, Acchi Kochi, Gj-bu, Hidamari Sketch (four seasons, yay!), Lucky Star, Nichijou, Working! (two seasons) or Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou (Daily life of high school boys) to name a few. "Comedy" may be a stretch for some of them but they're basically slice of life with no "plot" like Non Non Biyori /nyanpasu~! Edit: Also forgot A-Channel and probably a ton of others as well but meh DX

Plus+ costs just 5 bucks more than regular at the moment by the way (preorder), it's heavily discounted from the apparent full price later.

This is my biggest pet peeve when translating, because while incredibly common, there's no real English equivalent (though other East Asian languages do). It literately means "get along well - please" or "do good - please". A more literal translation when used on first meeting someone would be "please take good care of me" or "please get along with me", and you reply with a "I as well". Except it simply sound way too formal and at the same time straight forward and awkward in English. Even "I hope we'll get along" would be waaaaay too formal in colloquial English, though that's probably the closest translation (I shall ignore the "Let's be friends"). If we ignore that and look at the original literal translation, it's easy to see the phrase could easily be used in other ways. And sure enough, both words, together or separate, can be used as "please". As in "Please take care of X(person)" "Please do this." Going back to the beginning, the "お願いします" simply make it more formal. Because though it does have meaning, the phrase can also be read as "Please - please". So taking out one of the two is common and more casual. You can actually use it as the latter part of someone going "Do this. Kthxbye". As in the よろしく(お願いします) can be used as Kthxbye. *Sigh* Anyways. Likely what you see is "Nice to meet you." However without the context this phrase is actually untranslatable.

Yes this is an idiom よろしく お願い します yoroshiku o-negai shimasu and it is used frequently used in places where people use "nice to meet you" but the real meaning behind it is "I ask you to please treat me well / get along well with me / give me help when needed etc." From now on when you watch anime, listen for when people use it. By itself, "o-negai shimasu" is used to make a polite request

We can't really spoil you since this anime is original so we have no clue what the hell happened. In the manga Kaneki never joined Aogiri (on the contrary he fought to destroy it). Though personally I'm happy to see an original ending because I hated the manga's ending (not as much now since it continued after but it was still a huge let down at the time). And also because there's no way they could adapat all the chapters in 12 episodes and make sense (especially since the manga is still on-going). Also merging this thread with the anime discussion thread.
