    Cursed Sight

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVc4RKQSHa8&list=UUbc0jPjgo4r_McbzaLajKWQ Being able to control fate would be a blessing for many. To Miyon, it is her greatest curse. East and West Taria are in conflict, and Miyon's power will be the most valuable weapon. Meanwhile, Gai has been sold by his family into Miyon's temple. Will the two save or destroy one another? Hello everyone ! Here is my latest project, Cursed Sight. It has in fact in brewing for quite a while now, and I am happy to finally be able to share it with you all. A demo version of the game is available here: http://cursedsight.invertmouse.com/demo.html So far, my most common feedback is that my previous titles were too short. With Cursed Sight, I am hoping to find a balance between staying succinct and satisfying the players' wishes. The full script is currently around 45,000 words long. Cursed Sight will also be my first release with multiple complete endings. There is currently a campaign to fund the full game. I hope to have your support: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1013046199/cursed-sight-visual-novel Cursed Sight is currently also on Steam Greenlight. If you could consider sparing a moment to vote, I would really appreciate it: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=403682653 Here is Cursed Sight's webpage: http://cursedsight.invertmouse.com And a few screenshots: Before signing off, hey Rooke, Flutterz, thank you so much for helping me out earlier on. I will always remember your support . Nosebleed, thanks for letting me post this here as well. As discussed, please feel free to move this over to Ongoing Projects. Thank you so much everyone! Really appreciate you all as always.

Feel free to comment or ask questions in this thread, and I am sure the man himself would be more than happy to answer them in the coming days. https://www.mixcloud.com/OriginalRen/man-behind-the-curtain-episode-4 In addition, you can download all of the episodes from my Google Drive, which is located here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B7ivNNDDfsj5cml2bm1MSWU0aEE&authuser=0 Enjoy!

  7. As promised, yet more chaos has descended upon the Fuwa Forums index sidebar. This time in the form of quick-link images. Option 1 - Large Boxes Option 2 - Small Boxes I'm interested in criticism, praise, alternates, etc. We're already in this deep, I'm not afraid of doing some science : P

  11. More random translations for you. Also Jesus you need to slow down on posting. For those who don't know, when graduating, it is a tradition for a senior to give their shirt's second button to a junior they like. It is usually the junior who has to ask for it, though. If several juniors ask at the same time, the senior has to give the button to the junior they care about the most. Maki-chan was meant to say "Nico-chan, dai ni botan kudasai" but instead she stuttered and said "Nico-chan kudasai" which basically means she was asking to be given Nico-chan.

  14. 1) Original translation is bananas. It ranges from bad to pure gibberish. Severe mistranslations aside, the overall writing quality resembles a crude fanfic written by 15 years old kid who likes smoking weed, uses Urban Dictionary vocab all the time and doesn't know how to write in proper English. 2) Steam had absolutely nothing to do with censorship, it was only MoeNovel's idea (the VN was originally released outside of Steam). Why did they go that far? Well, they just don't know what they are doing. 3) Restoration patch only adds content that was completely removed (like H-scenes). It doesn't fix too much in the script translated by MoeNovel (so, those "big eyes" were still left as is). Some H-scenes have somewhat... hasty translations, too. Also, it wasn't made for Steam version so it causes plenty of bugs with it. Well, there were some minor issues even with the non-Steam version. 4) If you're wondering what the VN itself is about - it's mainly a slice-of-life title focused on a group of friends building a glider. Romance comes only later on, after a very, very long common route (but you can skip the text you have already read on next playthroughs, so you won't have to go over it again). It's a rather lighthearted, slow-paced novel, don't expect anything too exciting. It does the romance and relationship parts very well though. I find it rather enjoyable, even though I normally don't like down-to-earth slice-of-life at all. 5) As for the new Re-Translation patch, TL and editing are progressing (slowly, but steadily), but there were some technical issues with the new partial patch, so it got delayed... quite a lot. I'll post some proper updates (in a new thread), as soon as everything is resolved.

  19. I honestly don't like this attitude from MangaGamer. They got burned on ef not because it was fan translated first, but because they completely failed to adequately market it. ef was a lightly popular anime, they could have tried to get fans of the show to pay attention to the VN release, but they didn't. They could have tried to push it to fans of romance as it's a fairly serious romance title, but they didn't. They could have advertised it at common otaku sites like 4chan, but they didn't. They did literally no external advertising for it whatsoever and only told people about it through their own site and newsletters. No shit it failed. They now use this negative experience to campaign against fan translations in general, claiming they hurt the industry. The failings are on their end. When JAST is given a fan translation, they polish the hell out of it and release it better than ever before (the ef script was barely changed in the MG release) and advertise the hell out of it. You could see Saya no Uta ads at a lot of common otaku-frequented sites. MangaGamer should exercise some self-reflection before criticising others. Their message pretty much comes off as "please stop". Not "don't translate titles from our partners" but "don't release any complete patches for any VNs at all because it makes contract negotiations hard". Meanwhile, Doddler, their twitter idol, is working with Arudoc to release complete translations for multiple games, Maria is working on a complete Rance Quest fan patch, and Cafe ostensibly will finish Aoire Rinne some day. The behavior of their own staff goes against what they say. They should either get their own ducks in a row before standing on a soapbox or shut up, preferably the latter. I will also say that fan translations obviously have very many benefits for the industry. They suggest that all fan translators only translate trials. I would have never read my first eroge, Fate/Stay Night, if there was only a trial patch available. I would never have given any eroge company a penny of my money if it wasn't for multiple complete translation patches that drew my attention. The industry is still so niche that it can't survive without a thriving fan scene. I can guarantee that MangaGamer would be nowhere if fan translations weren't around and they'd be in serious trouble in the future if all fan translations suddenly ceased. They may seem like an evil to MangaGamer, but at the very least they're a necessary evil as they provide the lifeblood of the industry.

  20. Hey everyone ! I'm dropping by to give news since I was inactive during something like 6 months due to real life problems, but well it's mostly settled up now so I'm coming back on Fuwanovel ! I also want to thank everyone in this thread since you gave me so much motivation when I was still extracting the scripts, seeing you all encouraging us gave me so much courage. I'm also really happy this project came to life, it's been really long and many people were involved but well it's here and I want to thank everyone who was involved for giving birth to this and doing awesome work ! I'm so glad we beat the cursed game and finally translated the last route, it's only deserved for such a good game. So thanks again everyone and cheers !

  27. I don't want this to turn into redundant discussion. I get daily complaints on this thread. Discussing love live is fine if it has some value to other people, i'd like to keep off topic stuff out of the thread as much as possible too. Preferably i'd like to keep this thread in gaming talk but if it gets too much i'll end up moving it to the coliseum. Don't see this as an ultimatum, though. All I'm saying is, discuss the game above all else, discuss Love Live in second if you have something interesting to share, more off topic stuff needs to be toned down.

  28. HuniePop was a very... enlightening game for me. I found out something I never knew about myself before. I still regret it, but it is what it is. And so, I immortalize it in my heart with... ...A confession: Up until now, I always thought that I might be weird. So many VN gamers loved the H-scenes, but I condemned them. Now I realize, I have not the right... I'm probably the weirdest guy around FuwaForums, cuz I don't get hard by seeing nude ladies. Instead, I'm turned on... by gameplay. Bejeweled gameplay made me hard as a rock. Perhaps even harder. I realized that the reason why I loved Kamidori so was the excessive SRPG gameplay. Same with Super Robot Taisen, and Battle Moon Wars, and Fire Emblem. But the thing that made me find this out was HuniePop. With the combination of dating sim and strategic match-3 gameplay, I began wondering what made me so different from them. Why was I not aroused by these pictures of beautiful ladies? Because I had other things that made me HARDER. So, to all you people whom I thought were just pervs, I'm sorry. I'm an even more messed-up perv than you guys. However, I hope you'll continue to treat me as you usually do, be it hatefully or friendly. And to the makers of HuniePop, than you for this. It helped me learn more about myself. Now there is just one more matter to clear up. I've conquered all the ladies. I've gotten all their info. I've finished all the Unique gifts and such. So why, OH WHY, is my game not 100% complete?! WHY, OH WHY, ARE EIGHT PICS STILL MISSING?! WHAT DO I DO? WHERE DO I GOOO? THIS IS BAD CONVEYANCE!

  37. Thank you Hiiragi & Yoki for your little sadistic posts in the last hours, I like you now also for your "hidden" sadistic personality ... I think nobody here should underestimate this Nico Event, the pace may be slow now but we have a whole weekend and probably a lot of guys with too many gems before the end of the event. So everyone who hasn't reached the 25k till now should be drop his hopes of becoming the second SR unless he/she isn't willing to play like maniac on weekend. I'm sitting at the moment on around 54k and will definitely go for T1, Nico is worth it (though she probably won't make it in my top team ) ...

  39. Localization is unnecessary. Just translate it and give me what they said, that's it. Just make sure it fits within the usage rules of English. Don't make the characters sound Western. Regular watchers of anime/readers of manga will understand the nuances of what Japanese people say, they don't have to have it spelled out for them what an American or whatever would do under the same circumstances and risk one of those WTF moments like Satsuki mentioned. This is one of the reasons why I learned Japanese.

  42. Yes, it did change. You did that very well. I enjoyed when the story took a slightly unexpected direction in Chapter 3. That's what made me want to read more, but the chapter ended. Nothing that I can think of made me want to stop reading, like I said I enjoyed it quite a bit. You use your words very well when describing scenery and actions. In concerns to your previous reply, she is very careful about what she does, making sure if she does something no one is in the immediate vicinity, though she got careless in the woods because it was mostly remote. Only when she's either alone, or she plans on everyone else being dead, is when she can go full out and when she shows her true colors/brutality. Though when she's angry (Like in the bathroom for example) she slips up on being careful and stops paying attention to things like her strength, surroundings and consequences to her actions. When she's in the company of people she doesn't plan on doing anything to, she acts normally, which is how she got recruited with ease. That and the fact that she is stronger than normal. You'll notice that from the way she broke the mirror, wall, and chair with ease, as well as how she survived the strong punch to the gut. A normal person would have possibly died from that. Also, the translation was for the reader in order to know what was being said, especially because the translation is through Google so I have no idea as to how accurate it is. Considering you know about WW2, could I provide you with my Skype so I can ask you for help concerning what I'd need to fix with the historical inaccuracies, expanding on/introducing characters, as well as any other things I may overlook? One last question. How long have you been working on your story? I appreciate you taking your time to help me point out what I needed to fix and showing me your story.

  46. Muramasa does this too, since it uses faces in the textbox instead of name tags. Since I'm a big fan of protagonists that are just as much characters as the rest of the cast, I like this as well. The 'faces instead of names' thing Muramasa had was also great - well, that VN probably has my favourite textbox to be honest, hooray for vertical text!

  47. For some reason, the first game that came to my mind with that question was Black Wolves Saga, which I haven't actually played... Yes, it's puzzling to me too. However, the heroine's face actually does appear at the side of the text box when she's speaking. I must've been remembering a review I read? But yeah, only when she's speaking, it's not always there or anything.. (Edit: Actually, I just remembered Alice = Alice, too, and Gekka Ryouran Romance had similar systems... I obviously haven't played every game by Rejet, so I'll just say it appears like a large number of Rejet otomege have them. Quinrose appear to implement a similar system. Otomate's teams and standards basically change with every game, so I'll hold off broad assumptions of their style.) I'm personally a fan of that. I'm a fan of anything that adds a little bit more personality to the protag, and knowing their reactions or how their feelings translate to their facial expressions is a plus.
