  1. Hello members of Fuwanovel and welcome to my 2000 1929 post celebration thread! Yes, I stole Zaka's title. Yes, I'm not at 2000 posts but I finished this after working on it a few days and too impatient to farm to 2000 posts. Foreward

  5. As some of you know, I was a rather active member of this community up until the end of last year. I had become a board moderator as well as started a revamp project for Supreme Candy in hopes of making a contribution to the western VN world. I decided to leave Fuwanovel due to several things that just rubbed me the wrong way. The primary reason for my departure was the lack of structured organization between board mods and their assigned global mods. The teammates that I was working with were doing very little with their position, leaving the rest of the team to pick up the slack. Working in teams we were expectd to brainstorm together. When it came to getting work done, it was always on an individual basis. I am sure that many of these internal problems have been resolved. I mean just look at Fuwanovel now, a lot has been accomplished. However, I no longer have any interests in being at staff member. My place is among the members, and I have set my sights on translations over site management. As for the translation project for Supreme Candy... Habluka who lead the original team and I agree that Supreme Candy does not have the support from the community required to complete the project. Habluka, who is/was an avid fan of MakuraSoft did much of the work solo, achieving nearly 15,000 lines before putting the project aside. If any of you watched our Twitter feed, you would have seen that Skyspear Translations was continuing to make progress (albeit very slowly). We still have our image editor and one active TL but have decided to drop Supreme Candy in hopes of beginning a project for a more popular title (thread for this on the way). Regardless of the past, I am happy to be here again on Fuwanovel. I look forward to having chats and discussions with all of you once again!

    Fuwanovel Confessions

I don't think you should hate yourself for being a virgin. Why is it bad to be a virgin? I don't hate being a virgin, really. What do you get when you're not a virgin? I dunno. Sure, you got laid. Then what? I don't know. I'll only know when I'm not one anymore. It all falls down upon what your values are, really, and how much you value stuff. Personally, I wouldn't mind losing my virginity, and wouldn't mind keeping it. At least if I continue to be a virgin, there's a possibility of me becoming a wizard.

  15. W-What Nah. I don't think I need any pills. I just want to lie down on my bed and sleep through the entire day. It was already done like 13 hours ago haha. Confession: So I was such a faggot last night, and I couldn't speak properly in front of her. I still tried though. The problem is that for every word I said, her reply seems to strike me down. Like, she's telling me that it's futile or something. Of course, that's quite disheartening. Like, ugh. Holy shit. My chest seems to tighten up whenever I remember the feeling. So she told me that a lot of things will be happening in college, and that I'll eventually forget about her. I laughed at that. So I told her, "March 15, right? Okay then. Next year, on March 15, I'm gonna go to your university and show to you you're wrong. I'm also gonna ask you out." She replied, "Sure. You'll go there and thank me because I was right." It hurts. Kinda. I just. I can't explain it. I... don't even know what I'm feeling now. Also, she told me through chat that she wanted to talk to me tomorrow. I have a huge feeling I'm gonna be shot down. She told me that she'll keep it 'short' to not waste a lot of my time. I'd talk to her for two straight hours, really. Even if it's all awkward shit and stuff. Ah god. I like her so much. Also, I danced her. It felt great. I want to hug her. So I'll hug her 12 days from now, on our graduation ball, after we dance. Gonna make her my first and last dance. It will also be the dance that'll commemorate either my success or failure. So there you have it. I feel like a fucking protagonist right now. I hope she's my main heroine. You know what I'm scared of? I'm scared that somebody will beat me to her in this one year. Of course, that's not all guaranteed. Even that single year. For it might already end tomorrow. Ah. I just want to sleep through the day.

  23. Hello everyone You did not hear it wrong. Surely many of you know that currently the group WakarimashitaTL is translating Walkure Romanze and is now rather close to dead. Finally I could get time off the world and get myself typing here. As of now, I have lost contact of all my staff and will do a revival recruitment. I need: -someone that could help me maintain our site -editors -quality checkers I apologize if I was not able to budge at all this whole period. A lot of life drama is tossing me around and the Nation calls me for service (i hope it finally ends or at the very least ease). At least I could get my feet here right now. . . So if you are able to help me out, or willing to join me in putting this back to action and get this project done with for others coming out, please do PM me or comment on this thread. My most sincerest apologies and Much thanks <3

  24. Every VN company has specialties, in terms of genre, character types, and art styles. AXL tends to prefer a generally cheery atmosphere, replicating its own art in every VN it makes, and creating an oddly nostalgic atmosphere within its games (though this is probably an accident, rather than on purpose). It tends to have some sort of action, whether it is actual violence or just sports, as part of the story, and the protagonists tend to be capable, if not perfect. Akabeisoft2, which did Sharin no Kuni and formed Akatsuki Works and Shangrila (the makers of the Akatsuki no Goei series), tends to provide a facade of slice of life, with a much darker edge underneath. Their games are mostly story-focused, with a few exceptions, and the general quality is very high. Light is, oddly, a company that is the very reverse. It's stories tend to be dark, with even the brightest and most cheery atmospheres carrying a blood-soaked edge beneath the surface. Exceptions, like Kaminoyu (which was made by the group that eventually was shoved into the Sweet Light subsidiary) are exceptions to the rule. Nitroplus was originally an action-focused utsuge company, but with the advent of Sumaga, their games both changed in atmosphere completely and dropped in quality overall. Muramasa was the last truly great game done by the main team, and the Science series (Steins and Chaos) appeals to a completely different audience and was done by a different team. Clochette is also known as 'Oppai R Us' by some of us English-speaking VN-readers. They produce high-quality fantasy charage with decent stories... and lots of big-breasted girls. Yuzusoft tends to produce a wide variety of games, but their specialty lies in the creation of high-quality meldings of story and charage style. Dracu-riot is a perfect example of this, melding a high-quality story with a strong and amusing cast of characters. Will, which is the largest VN conglomerate in Japan, is responsible for everything from Propeller's action games (Ayakashibito) to the lowest style of nukige. Probably at least a third of all the highest-rated VNs in Japan were produced by this company over the last decade or so. Key... we all know, primarily produces character dynamics-driven nakige. Their games include ridiculous levels of moe appeals, which have contributed to their popularity both over here and Japan. Minori... produces a wide variety of games, but the one major quality they share is a sense of surrealism that produces a sharp difference in reactions amongst readers... in other words, you either love a Minori game, or you hate it viciously. Eushully produces gameplay-VNs, including the famous Ikusa Megami series, Kamidori Alchemy Meister, and they also served as a producer for a much lower-quality maker's games on a number of occasions. SofthouseChara produces gameplay-vns with a strong humorous aspect, which mostly seems to deliberately parody games that take themselves more seriously. Even so, their games seem to possess better stories than the ones they parody, for some reason. Alice Soft, the producers of the 'Dai' series (Daibanchou, etc) and the Rance series, are famous for fusing the ridiculous and the serious in their gameplay-focused VNs. Like Minori, they are definitely an acquired taste, and as many people despise their work as like them. August produces mostly straightforward charage, moege, and nakige, with a slightly more story-focused leaning. However, they've yet to make what is considered a 'kamige', as they always manage to fall just short of what they are trying to achieve through a given game. Front Wing, which produced Grisaia, is normally a nukige company, which made its production of that series incredibly startling. Cotton Soft produces games that range from horror/mystery to simple mysteries, usually with a science-fantasy or Cthulhu Mythos aspect to them. 11eyes produces medium quality fantasy, that tends to be visually appealing but varies wildly in terms of writing quality. Lump of Sugar produces charage, nakige, moege, and story-focused VNs with high-quality art. While some of their games are not all that good, they have quietly built up a list of high-quality games over the last decade. Applique, which produced Fake Azure Arcology, as well as Tasogare no Sinsemilla, is a subsidiary of Effordom soft, which consistently produces high-quality games. Studio Ryokucha, which is mostly inactive, produces middling to high quality moege and charage. Feng produces middling and low quality moege. Until a few years ago, Purple Soft produced mostly middling quality moege. However, with Mirai Nostalgia and Hapymaher, they experienced a sudden surge in quality that startled many. Candy Soft, which is also the owner of Minato Soft (producer of Majikoi) is responsible for a large variety of games, mostly humorous moege. However, they tend to be less than predictable with the themes of their games, so it is a good idea to take a quick look at anything they put out. Pulltop is one of Will's many subsidiary companies, mostly specializing in middling to high-quality nakige and charage. Propeller is another of Will's subsidiaries, producing primarily action VNs, that tend to have really good character dynamics, unusual art styles, and great stories. I could go on forever, but these were the ones that came to mind immediately. Feel free to ask me about a particular company, if you are considering their games. There is a good chance I've at least 'tasted' their games, so I can give you a decent idea of what to expect.

    Elsword Group

Well, since most games have a group thingie on Fuwa... It's about time this thread be made. For those who don't know what Elsword is, here And for those who do play Elsword, feel free to share what server you play on, your characters/classes/levels, your stories/ best moments (or worst moments ). I'll start with my personal story of starting this game:- At first, I actually saw it as an add on youtube, felt the art and style were pretty cool for an MMO, and decided to join. The first character I picked was Raven, as assassins/rogues are my personal favorites in MMOs, and BladeMaster, one of Raven's classes, looked pretty fast, so yeah. As I leveled up, I did find him to be pretty fast indeed, faster than any other Melee class in the game. pvp-ing was so fun, as with my speed I could beat most other melee characters B) So, I just kept playing, without really knowing anyone. The game was fun enough to play solo, at least at first, and I reached level 50 before I stopped. I've probably spent more time in Elsword than I have in any other MMO/ online game, simply because of how fun it was. PvP-ing is what I found especially satisfying. But anyways, so I stopped because dungeons became impossible to do on my own and since I had no friends, I had no one to move on with, so I stopped. This was all in EU server, a very laggy/ almost dead server I suggest you stay away from . NA ftw Pretty sad story, I know... But, I came back again! Recently one of my friends, Tenkuru by name, joined NA, so I decided why not, with a friend I can probably reach more heights! I'm currently lvl 39 Aisha (EM), and hoping to find more friends here to help us out and have fun. Who knows, we can even make a guild And have some nice fan art

  26. Yes you are... In all serious of course you're not. All the VNs you mentioned sold really well and have relatively large fan bases. In fact, I feel like the minority for not liking super long common routes. In my view long common routes are often like filler in manga. Often they allow you to get to know the characters better, but they are distractions from the plot. Obviously scenes that allow you to get to know characters are important to establish those characters, but a good writer usually doesn't need to spend that much time establishing their characters. In my view the sooner the characters are put into action and the plot progresses the better.

  28. I should say that this is yet another area in which my well-trained story-lover's brain doesn't work the way the average reader's does. When I'm reading a story, I have no difficulty keeping track of everything that is happening, which characters are which, how they react, etc. etc. Compared to reading Steven Erikson's Malazan Book of the Fallen, even the most complex VN story and cast of characters is as simple to remember as what I ate for breakfast.

    About My Absence

Hello Tay~ The past two months have been a real eye opening time for me. So many things have happened both online and in the real world that I now know what my responsibilities are and what my hobbies are and where I'm willing to draw the line. I am glad that I was able to contribute in any way that I could with the board mod program. Wishing best of luck to the entire management team! Thank you for the offer sir. I will gladly take you up on that when the time comes. We are planning on builiding a website in the near future if everything goes well. After that I will likely begin recruiting right here on Fuwanovel. Its definitely going to take some time to reaquant myself with the website, considering how long I have been absent. And thank you to everyone else who has welcomed me back! Happy to see all the familar names

  34. The name itself is indeed similar to such genre names like Nukige, Moege etc., but it's just a term for shitty games, as simple as that. And yeah, it fits Sakura series perfectly. Let's leave moeges out of this, even the worst titles from that genre are literary masterpieces compared to Sakura stuff (well, at least the first title, I only skimmed over that one). And nukiges = porn. They aren't even supposed to have decent storylines by definition, they are meant to be plotless pornfests (though I must say that the majority of nukiges that I have read had significantly better writing than Sakura Spirit...). Sakura Stuff isn't porn. Hence it's available to a much wider audience than your average nukige. And to make matters worse, it's an audience that doesn't know anything about VNs (aside from the common "weird anime hentai game" stereotype). That's why it annoys so many VN fans - it shows newcomers the entire medium from the stupidest possible side (nukiges at least have porn...). I can see why the series is so popular though. It seems there is a high demand for crude porn that is sold as not-porn. That 50 Shades of Gray thingy and other similar book-like-objects sell absurdly well, too. People just want porn, but they are too "prude" to get real deal stuff, so they choose such idiotic substitutes instead.

I love the way the series is going with the yōma being the main threat. This may be the game that makes me pick up my 3DS again seeing as I haven't touched it since I bought a Vita. I do wish the US was getting some of those special editions though. I could really use that oppai mouse pad for when I'm reading visual novels.

  42. The way I usually go about common routes (in your average five heroine vn) is I will play through the first one, skip the second time, try and fail to read through the third time, skip the fourth and finally, wait a while before doing the final route then read all the way through that.

    Happy Pi Day Fuwa!

Bro do you even antiderivative. Yeah, (d/dx)ex=ex, so the indefinite integral of ex is also ex + C, that C obviously being a constant, because the derivative of any constant (0 included) is 0. But who's to say that the constant is 1? What makes 1 better than everyone else? You think we 4 peasants aren't cool enough for you? Is -7,260,833 out of the club too? Maybe you got your shizzle mixed up with your chain rule, or should I say, your BANE rule. When you're taking the derivative of a number with an exponent, the derivative of the exponent is MULTIPLIED by the remaining term, not added to. In other words, (d/dx)ex=(1)(ex)=ex, not (d/dx)ex=1+(ex)=ex+1. Of course, for that mistake to happen, you'd have to be making the additional mistake of taking the derivative, not the indefinite integral (and thus, in this case, antiderivative) of ex, which clearly goes against the ∫ that you posted in image form. L2charactermap Chocolate pie is awesome!
