  1. I think we should have a thread where people can weekly share a piece about a VN or a route that they think does not receive enough attention (be it in general or on Fuwa). Each week, a random pick out of a pool of volunteers will publish a small text or an article explaining why they think a particular route or VN deserves more attention than it gets. There are several rules you should follow when making a post: Application -You can apply to make a post via sending a PM to me. Every month, I'll randomly pick four people (one per week) from the applicants to write up something for the thread. -If your post gets published, you cannot reenter the applicant pool for six weeks. If you are elected in a month where your six-week cooldown period ends partway, you'll be placed back in order (If you have two weeks in the cooldown for example, you will have the third-to-last or last spot, depending on the cooldown periods of other writers). -You will need to tell me which VN you will write about in your application. If you want to change your VN, you can do so via a PM to me until one week before your due date. -Please do not circlejerk by saying "F/SN is soooo underrated!" or anything similar. The thread aims to shed light on unpopular VN's and routes, not to praise already popular VN's. Formatting Guidelines -It should be between 100 and 1500 words (for anything larger than 500, please state the game outside the spoiler tag and put the rest in a spoiler). -As we might have many texts in a single page, please put any images larger than 400x400 in spoiler tags. -Before your post, please write the full title of your VN (As well as the route, if you are writing about a particular route), linked to its VNDB page. -The font should generally be size 14 and the default typeface. If you want to use emphasis or something similar, feel free to change things up a bit though. (This DOES NOT mean you can post a 1500-word essay written in 46-sized cursive font outside a spoiler tag!) Spoiler Policy -For VN's, you cannot post any explicit spoilers (things like "The mysterious killer was the main character's best friend all along!"), character names and rough characteristics at most. You can still say things like "abrupt endings" or "amazing plot twists near the end of the VN" since those are commentary and do not explicitly state what happens in the story. -For routes: You will have to put your post in a spoiler tag. Besides that, feel free to talk about spoilery stuff! The reason there is a difference between a VN and a route is because it is very hard to talk about what makes a route good without spoilers, given how a route focuses on a particular character and/or particular events. Thread Guidelines -Only article posts and feedback/questions regarding the articles are allowed. Posts like "Man, when will my turn come?" or "I want to participate next month!" will be deleted. -Please keep discussion respectful. If you have anything to say regarding spoilers, put it in a spoiler tag no matter what. -To avoid clutter, do not quote the article you are giving a feedback on (in your post). If you want to comment on an article written more than a week ago, state that it is that article you are responding to. For any questions or feedback about this thread, send me a PM! 3. I posted this on the visual novels subreddit, but I wanted to share it with everyone here as well. Hopefully that is okay . Here is the gallery: http://imgur.com/a/x4Bbp These were taken in late 2011. I do believe it is Narcissu's ten year anniversary, so I figured this is a fine time to showcase these photos! Narcissu was my first visual novel, and it is still my favorite to this day. After playing through the game, I wanted to discuss it with others so badly, but it was quite niche at the time, so I ended up participating in the Japanese communities. My Japanese is only average, but I just wanted to share my passion for the game with the people out there. I got to know a couple of Japanese folks who were also fans of the game. Then, in 2011, I decided to take a ten day trip in Japan. Once I told these guys about it, they were extremely friendly and proposed a meet up right away. One of these online friends happened to live around Kyoto. I stayed there for two nights, and the two of us took a day trip to visit the landmarks from Narcissu. We got to know each other thanks to the game, so there was no better way to spend the day. Even though the flowers did not blossom during October, we still made the most of our time there. We talked about scenes from the game as we passed some of the actual locations, but I will keep it vague to avoid spoilers. Though we had a language barrier, we still did our best to have a great time, and it is all thanks to this one game. This has to be what I love most about visual novels, or any fan community in general. It is when a game transcends being entertainment and creates friendships, even when we are in different parts of the globe. When an opportunity to meet up surfaces, there is something really precious about that. Thank you for reading!

  4. My, what a splendid visual novel this appears to be, though it also appears to be untranslated as of present. Jeeves, good sir, do hire a professional organization so that I may humor myself with this piece of art. It will cost $41,000, you say? Why, that is no dent in my copious fortunes! And please be certain that only I am the one who enjoys said translation, for a lawsuit would prove especially detrimental to an individual of such superior social standing as myself. Mhmm, yesss, yes.

  7. I just wanted to make this topic for people who didn't know and were looking forward to this visual novel, but the project seems like it might be dead. I tried to go to the translators website days ago to see if there were any updates, but the website was down. With the website being down and no progress having been reported for months, it's looking less and less likely that it will be finished. Its such a shame seeing as 80% had already been translated. This was one of my most anticipated visual novels being fan translated since it was from the same company that made Hoshizora no Memoria. A link to the translators website is below just to prove that it's down. VNDB: http://vndb.org/v5834 Translators Website: http://www.tokidan.com

  9. Just want to gauge interest for an idea I have. I was thinking of possibly starting a Fuwanovel gaming club, where we play... video games. We would all play the same game/s over a period of time, and discuss what we like/don't like etc. Any interest in this?

  12. Of course I don't skip voices. If one doesn't care about voices then why don't just read a book? Well, I know I'm exaggerating because VNs have other things that book doesn't but when I don't just try to fly to the end to have scene / route done, I definitely listen voices (and often replay them ).

  13. People tend to lose an increadible amount of time simply by using unefficient tools and learning methods. Here´s the cure: Memrise.com The probably best tool to learn vocabs. It´s basically a spaced repetition system with some gamification. I always heard about Anki and tried it, but found it to be awful. Absolutely terrible, to be honest. Memrise on the other hand works fine. I´ve learned over 8.000 vocabs (and 2.600 general Kanji meanings) within 1,5 years. You can follow me there as Cynic. PM here for recommendations on courses to take. Imabi.net Excellent grammar site with a ton of example sentences.

  20. Yes, they changed the link to an actual legitimate product page for the game that advertises it as it is. The scat content has a toggle. But it's still a pretty hardcore nukige for people with a sadism fetish. If that doesn't sound appealing to you then you won't like it.

    Joke Thread Game

7/10, Im guessing lawyers are in hell already? A man buys a truth robot, it smacks someone whenever they lie about something, so the man decides to test it out. He asks his son what he did today, his son replied that he went to school, the robot smacked him. The son confessed he went to watch porn with this buddies and he skipped school, so the man laughed and said: back when I was your age, I didn't even know what porn was, and the robot slapped him too. The man's wife walks in laughing after hearing the commotion and said: haha, after all he is your son , and the robot slapped the man's wife.

  25. 炎髪灼眼の討ち手 炎 = Flame/Blaze 髪 = Hair 炎髪 = Flame Hair 灼 = masu stem of 灼く which means to burn/to scorch 眼 = eye(s) 灼眼 = burning eyes(eyed) 討ち = To shoot 手 = Hand 討ち手 = Hand that shoots, it's a more uncommon way to say shooter (打ち手). It doesn't mean hunter but in English hunter is probably the most suited word. (Hunter in Japanese is 狩人 or 猟師) Most literal translation would thus be Flamed-Haired Burning-Eyed Hunter.

    How did you discover Fuwanovel?

I came to complain about how there was no research engine on the main page and how the torrents were packed with anti-copyright shit I didn't care about and other stuff. (I think I didn't end up complaining that much in the end though.) Then Tay made me a mod for some reason.

  32. Look, just a tiny little thing, but DON'T BE A DAMN COWARD ABOUT IT! Come on, finish the series, even if it's gonna end for you, when an anime's especially very good, it's gonna make you feel better at the end, and (while you will miss it) it's best to just finish it off rather than hold off and eventually forget it. I'm speaking FROM EXPERIENCE! Also, yes, I know you have quite a bit of experience, but still... FINISH 'WORKING!!'! The difference in our viewpoints regarding Chuunibyou was that I went in expecting comedy while you went in expecting drama. That is the real reason why you were more satisfied than I at the ending. ...That sound about right to you? YES. YES. JUST YES. THEY HAVE AN ANIMEEEEE?! What's Saeneko short for? I tried searching it up but I'm getting no hits whatsoever (other than a few weird sites that have nothing to do with anime at all).

  33. [Non-serious post] That's because we do. For example every time I take a trip to America I'm forced to watch these weird American sports, and as a sport nut I constantly find myself in sporting withdrawal. And if that's not bad enough I also have to drive on the opposite side of the road. Not to mention there's too many intersections, America needs to build some roundabouts. Oh, and you guys spell funny. Grrrrrr [/non-serious post]

  37. (Last time…) Guy: "Oookay. I still think they're porny." (< not a word) Me: "That probably says more about you than the art style." *Tay gets slugged* Me: "Owww!" Guy: "No, but really. Why not just read a book or comic instead?" (And now for the "epic" conclusion!) Me: “What do you mean?” Guy: “I dunno. Why read *that”—“ *he waves a finger lazily at the PC screen* “when you could just read a comic or a book, instead?” Me: “Um. Because variety is a good thing? For example, do you eat the same thing for lunch every day?” *Uncomfortable moment of silence.* Me: “You do, don’t you?” Guy: “Yeah, generally.” Me: “Dang. Way to pull a Ford on me. Okay, so, that was a bad example –“ Guy: “Ford?” Me: “Henry Ford. The guy who made the cars? He’s famous for the line, ‘You can have any color [of Model T] as long as it's black.’ Meaning: sameness is boring.” *Guy’s eyes are still glazed over* Me: “Okay, fine. Tell me a hobby that interests you.” Guy: “NASCAR.” Me: “Um. No. Try again. Give me another one. A better one.” *Tay gets slugged* Me: “Owww!” Guy: “Music, then.” Me: *Rubbing arm* “What kind of music?” Guy: “Oh, all kinds.” Me: “What’s your favorite song?” Guy: “’The Angry American’ by Toby Keith” *Uncomfortable moment of silence* Me: “I’m feeling increasingly justified, here. If that’s your favorite song, we’ve got bigger problems to deal with.” *Continuing rapidly to avoid more pain* “Okay, so, by comparison – don’t you like listening to more than just that one song? Or to just Toby Keith? Isn’t it good to get some variety?” Guy: “I guess so. But I do listen to him most of the time. I don’t like much else.” Me: “You’re making this very hard, [Guy]. Anyway, I’m sure that if you searched your soul you’d discover that variety is a good thing and keeps life interesting. I do read books, but I also read these things—“ *pointing to PC screen* “—because they’re fun. And different.” Guy: “And porny.” Me: “What is it with you and that word?” Guy: “It’s just what they are, [Tay].” Me: *mucho annoyed look* Guy: “I’d be too embarrassed to get caught reading one of those.” Me: “How mature of you.” Guy: “They can’t be that much different than a book, man.” Me: “You’d be surprised.” Guy: “Not likely.” Me: “How about we make this interesting?” Guy: “Fine by me.” Me: “I’m going to let you borrow [my tablet] for a few hours. You’re going to play one of these ‘porny’ games. If it doesn’t impress you, I’ll buy you lunch. If it does impress you, however, you buy me lunch. And if it makes you cry, you have to take my afternoon shift.” Guy: “Fine. But if I hate it, you have to take my shift tomorrow morning.” Me: “Great.” *tap* *tap* *tap* Guy: “So what am I reading?” Me: “It’s a sunny little thing called 'Planetarian'.” *hands over tablet* Guy: “Wish me luck.” Me: “Good luck. Oh, and I locked the other apps, so you can’t snoop. Sorry.” Guy: “D*@%.” The After-Story: [Guy] loved Planetarian and he definitely cried. Lunch was delicious, as was having the afternoon off. He’s interested in trying another “porny game”, though I do not know which one I’ll recommend to him. I have not yet actually told him that there is, in fact, porn in some of the games. Mostly because I really hate the word “porny.”

I played Juniper's knot on iPad, too, and when people want to try a VN on iOS I'll usually send them first to Planetarian and then to J.K. I really enjoyed it for similar reasons to FinalChaos. Great experience.
