  4. Invisible Apartment 2: Reasons Cyberpunk visual novel. Sequel to Invisible Apartment 1, part of a series of the same name. Invisible Apartment 2: Reasons is the next chapter of the Invisible Apartment series of visual novels. Set in a future where surveillance and hacking are part of every day life, it revolves around human relations, their dreams and how to lead a normal life. We already produced two chapters in the series. Invisible Apartment (available on iTunes and Steam) is an introduction to the whole series - unfortunately the novel is a bit short but many people liked the setting, the universe, the main characters and told us that they want more. So we allocated more time to the prologue Invisible Apartment Zero; it's considerably longer, includes more choices, routes and introduces more characters. It's currently on Greenlight (please vote for us!) and available on Desura and iTunes. Part 2 includes more characters, places, more timelines and overall a longer playtime. Bad choices no longer result in and immediate bad end and they have a more complex impact. We will be bringing this visual novel to Windows, Linux and Mac and if we get enough money than also Android. Top backers will receive all the DVD of the series as of 2015 including artwork by the illustrator.

  6. Where is this "Sekai Project is the enemy" talk coming from? Peter said a lot of dumb things in that thread, but he definitely didn't say that. Just because he said staff members were against an uncensored release doesn't mean that's the sole entire reason JAST decided to censor the game. The "enemy" is law enforcement and the laws against obscenity it's enforcing. Staff members were upset because they saw what happened to <well known staff member located in Canada> and, understandably, didn't want it to happen to them too. My guess is that was just a convenient excuse Peter made in the heat of the moment to reflexively shield himself from blame. JAST has a track record with censorship; don't think he was dead-set against censorship until his localization team threatened to mutiny on him. That's just ridiculous. Peter is a nice guy, but don't hang on his every word. He's not Bill Clinton. I'm waiting for Zakamutt to wake up and then maybe I can get my post up on Fuwazette. Maybe it'll turn this conversation in a productive direction.

  7. I've spent the last 8 hours writing up a rather extensive post on this issue which I'm hoping to throw up on Fuwazette. Hopefully it'll shed some perspective on the topic.

  8. ^The lack of negative there is a bit frightening. And I can't agree with what you said simply because these are fictional characters and there's been loli characters in other games, it just happened that this one decided to get censored. So what if it's got a stigma? You're saying it's better to just comform to a system rather than try to make changes and bring consumers a full product? Cutting out an Hscene and keeping the rest of the route to pretend a game is more morally correct just proves how shallow this whole thing is. I understand why they did it, but i'll still call them out for being overzealous for doing it.

  9. "Reading is the key to good writing" and "a large amount of reading results in a good writer" are two completely unrelated. Reading is considered key because of exposure; reading books across different genres exposes you to many different ways to express an idea or thought using the English language. However, without practice, a person who has never written in his or her life will never become good at writing because of a lack of experience. Reading builds the lingual base you need, and practice builds the experience base you need. I don't think that reading a lot results in the overuse of cliches; lazy writing does. Writers don't come up with ideas out of nowhere (though some do write by the seat of their pants), and writing is nothing like making a collage; you are not cutting out characters or scenes from different works and slapping them together; you are taking a core idea that the plot is based around, whether that be a character or synopsis, and building on it. That is not a cliche. A cliche is just an idea overused to the point where it characters, scenes, and even plots can be predicted in advance. Good writers do their best to recognize and avoid cliches. As for whether or not VNs, light novels, films, or other works of expression can help a person improve his or her writing, of course they can. But this is heavily dependent on quality; if memory serves me well, translated works have a rep for have sub-par writing in the form of adjective and adverb abuse, as well as unnecessary filler and a lack of effort to change from passive to active voice. Films are a bit different; while visual media does not help you with reading, it does contain a lot of dialogue, and that can expose you to verbal cues and tics. I do agree with your friend when it comes to books and imagery; A book uses only words to present a story. Light Novels and Visual Novels both use CG, with the former also having music, while films have actors to play the characters and don't need to be read. Only in a book will you, the reader, be forced to create a mental image of the characters, the scenes, and even the worlds by yourself, which none of the other mediums do.

  12. More like, read a lot, write even more. Not everyone is a born writer; some people have it easier, but everyone can write. The key lies in developing your own inner voice and a set of tools. There's also imagination, which plays a huge role in everything you pour down onto paper, but isn't necesarilly tied to anything. The rest is a matter of constant practice. You'll know when it happens, because it's magic that often changes your life.

  13. Well did he give you feedback on it? If he didn't you should ask about it, a teacher's feedback is the best to improve and i believe you should ask first instead of making assumptions. And you can use text, but make sure to use bullets instead of lengthy text. Also most PowerPoint presentations are very similar, your teacher is not going to give you a hard time for using the same formula, like i said it's all about how you convey the information.

  14. While there is plenty to like here watching your faerys heal things that have only taken 1 damage and then running out of charges on your heal just as you get to the point where you actually need them is so damned frustrating.

  17. I only ever saw good things about it, but I myself have not given it a shot. Maybe tomorrow after work, I'll read through real quick. I'm glad the feedback was good enough to justify the second part.

  19. I'll hold my breath until I see if some form of patch does come out. In the end i see it's because of legal BS (Would it cost them an arm and a leg to be upfront about it though?) just like Starless, so I won't hold the decision against them as much. But I still won't support a censored product, that's just my mindset as a consumer (and someone who enjoys said content). If i see a trend in terms of patching, maybe i'll come back to these games, otherwise it's still a no for me as much I understand why they're doing what they're doing. Living in a country where this kind of censorship doesn't exist and this content is allowed and being forced to deal with censorship just kinda sucks in general for me.

  23. It sounds like you're asking for an offline copy of VNDB, plus some extra stuff. A lot of the stuff you talk about for RPG Maker doesn't seem feasible, simply because of difficulties obtaining a copy of said game and disk space reasons... But as far as the offline VNDB side of things, that is very easily solvable: - In addition to the API, VNDB also uploads nightly database dumps: https://vndb.org/d14. So there's no need to scrape the data from the API. Download it, unzip it, and done. - Moreover, VNDB is open-source, so you can pull down all the source code and run a local instance: http://g.blicky.net/vndb.git/ Then it's just a matter of adding the features you want. For instance, adding an additional column to the database for "file location" or whatever, and then making that a clickable link in the local website, would be easy.

    Fuwanovel Confessions

Confession: So remember that party I went to where I was confessing about wanting to get drunk because I don't like my coworkers? Well there is one coworker I really like and I spent most of the party chatting with him. ... yesterday the police came by our workplace and told us he'd been caught driving drunk. Anyone who knows the drunk driving laws in Japan is wincing as they read this. Yeah. They came around asking questions and taking statements like it was a murder investigation. They're going to put the poor guy's name in the papers and maybe even on the news on TV. He's also not my coworker anymore. Driving drunk in Japan is social suicide. If you get caught you may as well move because your life in that community is over. They're so strict here that you can get arrested even if you weren't actually driving, but say after drinking with you one of your buddies drove off. If you didn't stop them you could be charged as an accomplice basically. So drunk driving not only screws up your life, but there's a possibility it could screw a few of your friends too. We're worried now that the papers are going to print who he was at the party with and it'll ruin the reputation of my workplace as well. TL;DR DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE IN JAPAN

  27. Here is my entry: Here is my entry with a transparent version: Obviously, changes can be made via height and color depending on the final choice of the background; I can easily edit what needs to edited in Photoshop. The reason I chose my logo? I went with the theme of discovery. Discovery is something the new Fuwanovel is aiming towards with the removal of torrents and the many changes that have been made. An easier way to explain why? Yuri. There hasn't been enough yuri on this website.
