So with the various different announcements through various different means I think it's time to begin coming up with some new ideas for companies we'd like to see visual novels from. Interesting enough but most of us only know companies that have either legitimate translations or fan-translations but there are probably plenty of people who are fans of games from companies that we have yet to see; so this thread is asking for your Top 10 most wished for licenses or translations by company/studio/etc. Just to give you a run down before this year I had AkabeiSoft2, Purple Software, Alicesoft, Age, and Liar-Soft on my list all of which are now technically capable of partnering with various visual novel publishers. I needed to create a new list after these unexpected announcements. For the purpose of my list I generally stuck to parent companies only since the foot in the door so to speak with the other companies is definitely more possible. So without further adieu my top 10 most wanted licenses and or translations. Honorable Mentions: Twinkle, Clochette, Propeller, and lump of sugar ... These were excluded for various reasons Propeller in particular being because it is a subsidiary of Will. 10. Akatsuki Works: Broke off from Akabei Soft this is the studio primarily responsible for Comyu and Hello Lady. I originally had Leaf/Aquaplus here before remembering they've been in the english market already (tears to tiara 2 on PS3). Akatsuki works sent a C&D long ago to someone translating devils devel concept and ended up killing the project but the same thing never happened with comyu. In fact based on how these current other projects go they might even try their hand at it since Comyu is a relatively known visual novel and they have a few other games that might be interesting to hit the english market; they have also worked on a project before with 5pb which means the door is potentially open to talk to them. 09: Amuse Craft: Has a number of different subsidiary companies (Unison Shift, Piriri, HeartS, and at least one more nukige type company) all of which while many of the games may not be overly great it sounds like something Mangagamer might attempt to get the license to. Especially after the translator for Ley Line releases the first game or if they find out about it they might see about going through legal maneuvers. Of course as we've seen any of the big 3 can pick up titles from anywhere. 08. Giga: Most notably known for the Baldr series and a few older and smaller titles. There exists one fan-translation of sorts of a game called Duel Savior but outside of that any other projects tend to burn out before they can get anywhere. Games of particular note are Baldr Force, Baldr's Sky Dive1 "Lost Memories", and Parfait - Chocolate Second Brew-. 07. KeroQ/Makura: Honestly this studio is on here mainly because of the art and the fact the stories are supposed to be quite good. We may soon find out exactly how good since Subarashiki Hibi ~ Furenzoku Sonzai~ is supposed to be finished translating relatively soon and that will of course potentially open some doors if the translation is decent quality. I actually think this company is more unlikely than some of the other ones but I'm not quite sure why I feel that. Notable mentions from the imprint company Makura include the currently translated game Ikinari Anata ni Koishiteiru, H2O Footprints in the Sand, Sakura no Uta, and Himawari no Kyoukai to Nagai Natsuyasumi 06. Favorite: The studio behind hoshizora no memoria, irotoridori no sekai, and AstralAir no Shiroki Towa all of which are games that are currently being in the process of being translated (by varying degrees of success) but that also have all age versions of at least two of the games. The games, the work, and the popularity of hoshizora no memoria in the english market make this a potential candidate for a future license. Mangagamer I think would be the studio best adept at handling this game. 05. Yuzusoft: The studio behind the never to be translated game, Dracu-Riot. They do have a few other games under their title to work with including the most recently released Sanoba Witch, Amairo*Islenauts, and Noble Works and a few of these games have in progress translations. I don't even know if any of the games are any good but I wouldn't mind playing any of them as they look decent if nothing else. 04. Eushully: Known primarily for gameplay and fantasy settings one game by them has already been translated in Kamidori Alchemy Meister and it was very popular and a fun game minus one or two minor details. I can't really see Sekai Project ever getting this series which means it would be up to JAST or Mangagamer. Mangagamer already has a partnership with Alicesoft so I find this rather unlikely. Other games they've done include Ikusa Megami Zero (and this entire series), Soukoku no Arterial, and Himegari Dungeon Master 03. August: Studio responsible for a number of supposedly top quality titles that seem to keep getting stalled before being able to get finished. This would be a good company for one of the vn publishers to try and partner with simply because they have all age and 18+ titles and none of their games have been released with an english patch in full yet. Some of the work would already be done and a lot of people know the titles for the games...the anime that tend to get made off of these visual novels does tend to be not the greatest which is a shame because if one of the anime were successful I imagine that they may have been in talks to try releasing over here. They are responsible for visual novels like Fortune Arterial, Aiyoku no Eustia, Yoake Mae yori Ruri Iro na, and Daitoshokan no Hitsuijikai 02. Type-Moon: A company that needs little introduction they are responsible for visual novels like tsukihime, fate/stay night, and Mahoutsukai no Yoru as well as the upcoming Tsukihime remake. This company only has a few games like a few others but the studio is known for some of the most well known visual novels and even is the studio that got the first fan-translation. The studio would also be prime for releasing both all age and 18+ titles as pretty much all of it's games have an all ages version. The likelihood of this studio ever getting games licensed is extremely unlikely but people used to put type-moon next to things like Alicesoft who know one ever thought would release content outside of Japan. A recent comment by Peter made it seem as if they've gone to type-moon an that the decision is in their house now...knowing the community I wouldn't be surprised if mangagamer and sekai project also went to them. Who knows maybe they will finally cave in. 01. Light: This one should surprise no one considering how popular one of the games is. This company has no games translated or in process of translation and is highly acclaimed by many people. Personally I love the premise of a number of their games and think these would be amazing games to get translated...it's also really unlikely that anyone will try. Dies Irae, Soushuu Senshinkan Gakuen Hachimyoujin, and Silverio Vendetta are just a few of the many titles by this studio. - So that was my list for what companies and their aforementioned visual novels that I'm most interested in. Honestly this post was mainly to get some of the newer people to visual novels aware of some of the bigger names in the visual novel industry that we've yet to see legitimate releases for. Feel I missed something feel free to share your own top 10 list.5 points

Continuation! Daitoshokan no Hitsujikai Translation
Fiddle and 4 others reacted to AnthranDawn for a topic
I think it's time I shed some light on the situation, shall I? First of all, I want to apologize for my lack of updating, let lone actually logging into the site. For those wanting an explanation as to why I have not updated even once since the project's annoucement, it's due to a situation and several changes that happened within the past month or so. When I initally announced the project, I had just completed college and I was all set to continue on with my education. I had taken the summer off from my previous job and was ready and willing to commit to the project as a full-time commitment. I had reached out to several people and even gotten some replys from some of them who were interested in working on it. To me, everything was going to proceed along smoothly and I had high hopes that it would be translated rather quickly. That being said, literally the Friday I had announced the project, I got a call from one of my friends asking me to apply to a compnay he was working at in order to work in a new department that was being developed. I interviewed the following Monday and was hired the day after. When the project was announced I had a clear cut plan on where my life was going as well as a good 3+ months to work on the project. This plan was destroyed not even a week after I had planned everything out and was ready to get started. In the couple of weeks before I started, I tried to do what I could with the work, but after reviewing the scripts and seeing how much time and effort that was needed to do it the right way, I determined that I had a responsibility to a company that was generous enough to give me an opprotunity I simply could not refuse. I wanted to make sure I was focused on preforming at my job, and not letting anything distract me for the time being. It's my first time working at a big company, so I wanted to make sure I was prepared everyday with a mind focused on nothing but my work. Additionally, I gave it a little bit of time to see if I could have enough energy on the weekends to work on the project, as I'm sure that is the case with a lot of people in the translation community, as I know I'm not the only one who has to work for a living. Working 10 hour days every day has left me extremely exausted come Friday night. I've never worked 50+ hour work weeks before, so it's still something I have to get used to, so I feel quality translation and team cooridination is something I cannot do effeciantly. I've looked through the replys in this thread, and I apologize to those voicing their concern. In fact your posts didn't invoke any negative reaction out of me, as you had every right to be skeptical, especially due to my lack of input in the thread. I was overjoyed that this project even got the attention of some of the Fuwa staff, which gave my motivation to make this a reality, but sadly, I have to focus on getting used to this new lifestyle I'm living. I apologize to the community for suddenly backing out of it, but I assure you all that I had full intentions of completing it, but as I'm sure you all know, life has a funny way of changing completeltly on you in such a small time frame. It seems someone else is activly working on the Visual Novel, and I say good luck to you my friend, I look forward to seeing your completed work. With that little novlet written, I don't intend to simply dissapear from the website. Visual Novels are still an interest of mine, and in the future, when I have some stability again, I'd love to contribute to anything in anyway that I can. Thanks everyone. I do appreciate your words of encouragment and any support that you have offered to me. I hope I can offer the same in the near future.5 points -
Fuwanovel Confessions

Confession: I was in the middle of skimming through an h-scene, when all of a sudden there was a lightening crack outside my window. I got distracted and looked outside, and continued looking outside for a little while. Suddenly my mother comes in and starts talking to me and I don't have enough time to close the screen. Normally, this is where someone would meet gameover, but I didn't even remember the fact that the h-scene was open so I just talked to her nonchalantly. When she left, and I realized that I had the h-scene open on my screen the entire time, I just died of laughter. xD I got lucky, as the heroine's lower half was covered partially by the textbox, and the camera was panned and zoomed in such a way that her breasts were not visible either. Man... I gotta be more careful now that I have moved my setup to my desk.5 points -

Motherhood - a Potential Free Visual Novel Project
Suzu Fanatic and one other reacted to demonicbagel for a topic
Hey guys. Been a while since I posted on here, but I have a lovely new idea I want to chuck at you guys. So, basically, this Visual Novel would be a story that has a Female Protagonist. Motherhood tells the story of Sayoko Koizumi - a high school senior who lives in the fictional city of Sakishima (no relation to the archipelago). Sayoko has recently learned that she is expecting a child - the result of a night spent with her boyfriend, Ryuuji. Later that same day, Sayoko tells Ryuuji the news, and, after feigning excitement, Ryuuji disappears the next day. Left heartbroken, Sayoko must learn what it takes to be a mother, and prepare herself for the day she has her child to take care of. As she struggles to balance finishing school with motherhood preparations and her social life, Sayoko is tested in her resolve and emotional endurance. With the support of her friends and family, Sayoko's story unfolds to tell a tale of a young mother's unconditional love to her unborn child. However, not all is as it seems, and Sayoko will find herself dealing with situations she didn't think she'd be a part of, and she will discover just how far she is willing to go to provide. On top of that, a broken heart needs healing, and romance is a possibility; whether or not it will be a ray of hope, or just another stressful situation is another story. On the subject of romance, this project would be LGBTQ+ Positive, and offer both Male and Female Romantic Options for the sake of a fulfilling and varied story. I haven't gotten very far into the idea yet, and it's very new, but I love it already. This story stems from the situation that my best friend currently finds herself in. While she is not in high school anymore, she IS pregnant, and is having a hard time adjusting. Her husband (also a good friend) came to me with the idea to build a story for a Visual Novel or what have you. They are both avid fans of anime and visual novels and manga and stuff, so I agreed to come up with something. The husband can't actually participate directly due to work and having to deal with his new situation, and the project is meant to be a surprise for his wife. It would be a Free Project, not commercialized, and dedicated to my friend; it is meant to give her inspiration and confidence because much of what she is going through would be felt by Sayoko as well. I am worried because I have no means of paying for commissions to get what I need to work on this project. I would hope that I could find people willing to partner up with me and work on the project. I would of course intend to do a Kickstarter at some point, however, so if it succeeds, compensation would be plausible and very well deserved. If anyone would be interested in helping me developing this story more, or providing assistance in some other way (such as offering artistic services or composition), that would be greatly appreciated. If you want to work on a heartfelt, beautiful story that tells the tale of a Girl who is in a very rare and troubling situation in Japan (Japan has the lowest rate of childbirths in mothers between ages 15 and 19), or require more information on the plot and other stuff, then PM me, and I will answer ASAP. This project idea is close to my heart, just as who this is for is. To make this a reality would mean the world to all involved, and I thank you for your time. Here is a link to the first bit of the script that I have written for this project. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B_bZ3WVmbhhucC1qMlBUeW84Vzg Note that it is subject to change, and is not the final draft. Noticed a few typos, but like I said - not the final draft2 points -

These aren't in any particular order. Light (this will probably never be anything but a wish) Akatsuki Works (If Akabeisoft2 gets localization coverage, this company will probably be dragged along with it) Propeller (yes, it is a will subsidiary, but it stands on its own in terms of the number of kamige) Type-Moon (a partnership with a localization company would serve to ensure the local releases of its games, for the Japanese-incompetent) Giga (for the Baldr series) Eushully (for the Ikusa Megami series) Cotton Soft (for a number of awesome games they've released over the years, including Reconquista and Owaru Sekai to Birthday) Tigre Soft (for the Reminiscence series and the other interesting VNs they have lined up) Purple Soft (c'mon people... don't you want to see localized Hapymaher and Mirai Nostalgia?) Rosebleu (for the large number of hilarious games) Edit: The Baldr series is the only thing of value from Giga, so I'd be pissed if they localized any of their other games, lol.2 points

Confession 1: I had two drinks at a nearby bar, and apparently they were ridiculously strong, as I'm currently the drunkest I've been in a long long time. Confession 2 (and it's a good one, because of 1): I'm close friends with a woman who I was out drinking with. The third in our group of friends is getting married, but the aforementioned woman and I are currently single. She's a fair bit older than I am, and in VN terms she was my senpai, though we now work in different places. Anyway, I find her ridiculously attractive (she's very cute, and the italicization is well-deserved), but I usually feel like she's not interested in me romantically, and I have some worries about long-term compatibility (we're both old enough that that matters), so I don't pursue it. But she looked damn good today... And all that we settled on is that we should do some marijuana together (which I feel obliged to mention is now legal where I live). So maybe that'll lead to something...2 points -

Anime Expo runs from July 2nd - 5th in Los Angeles, and all three major english VN publishers will be present and announcing new products. This is the biggest convention of the year for VNs, and contains the highest concentration of new announcements, it's pretty exciting! Here's who will be there and what to expect from them: JAST JAST's panel comes first at 10PM PDT on Thursday. Nobody is really sure what to expect from JAST, but they have claimed that they will be announcing some stuff there. The safe guess is a new Alcot game (moege dev, makers of My Girlfriend is the President and Clover Days), which is something they teased around six months ago. The more far-fetched guess is Muramasa by Nitro+. It seems like this is going to happen eventually, but JAST has also said they want to wait until projects are further along before announcing them, to avoid Hanachirasu and Sumaga incidents in the future. If you're attending, JAST's booth is #1319. And it's over! JAST announced Flowers, an all-ages yuri/mystery VN, for fall 2015 which is kind of crazy since everyone thought MangaGamer would be the ones to handle that. Also SoniComi, which was translated and edited by the power duo of Tulip Goddess Maria and Ritobito, so actually look forward to that "soon". Seinarukana will also be out Fall 2015... supposedly. The Alcot game they teased earlier in the year was a no-show, but JAST seemed to imply that they may have more to announce at Comic-con so there is still hope for the moege lovers out there. Sekai Project SP comes second, their panel is at 7PM PDT on Saturday. I know even less of what to expect from SP than JAST. I believe Key is attending AX as well. I would not be surprised by the announcement of another Key game being licensed, be it LB, Rewrite, or maybe even Angel Beats?? They planned to work with Doki on Clannad before that was dashed by the community's desire for a total retranslation, and Doki teased some Little Busters news sometime this summer, so LB may be the most likely suspect. They will also probably announce some doujin games, as is Sekai Project's habit. Interestingly, they just set up a Japanese twitter account and is tweeting about AX in it. It would be a humorous twist if they announce they'll be translating some OELVNs into Japanese. SP's booth is #1720. Panel summary: Sekai Project continues to impress with their ability to license popular titles. They've managed to grab the highly lucrative Akabei Soft partnership, and will start by releasing G-Senjou no Maou this summer. They've licensed Root Double, a popular survival story made by the director of the Infinity games. They've also announced Chrono Clock for release "soon", which establishes a new partnership with the respected eroge developer Purple Software. Additional news: There will be a remake for the entire Narcissu trilogy, including part 3 in english for the first time, World End Economica Ep. 2 is releasing this month, and Clannad is releasing in November. MangaGamer MangaGamer is last, hosting their panel at 9PM PDT on Saturday. Ryukishi07 of Higurashi and Umineko fame is attending the panel with them, likely to talk about Higurashi's western release. It may be too soon to announce another license deal with him, but who knows, it could happen. MangaGamer has teased four announcements, including three whole new partners. They have separately teased an announcement of a yuri game, and have recently conspicuously posted pictures of SonoHana merchandise at their booth (although they're known to sell goods from completely unrelated VNs). My guess: The one announcement from a current partner is going to be Tsuriotsu from Navel, but really, it could be anything. MG's booth is #919. AND THAT'S ALL SHE WROTE! The big announcement of the MangaGamer panel was their partnership with Alice Soft, starting with Beat Blades Haruka. Other announcements included Himawari, a sci-fi work known in Japan for its intricate storytelling, A Kiss For The Petals - Remember How We Met is an all-ages yuri VN coming to Steam from the popular SonoHana yuri series, and MangaGamer will be updating and releasing the Witch Hunt translation of Umineko for sale, with new character sprites. Other news was that Sweet Sweat in Summer will be out this month, Kara no Shoujo 2 will be out this fall, and they're aiming for an end of 2015 release for Gahkthun. Honorable mentions: Degica is attending and talked about their upcoming Muv-Luv kickstarter, which will go live late August or early September. Aksys Games announced that Zero Escape 3 is in the works and will be available in Summer 2016. So what are you guys excited about? What do you think is going to happen? If you're attending, feel free to talk about your experiences on the show floor, although keep in mind this thread is about visual novels. I will be updating this post as new information comes out. Your wildest dreams didn't come true? Remember, Otakon is later this month and MG and others will have more announcements there, too.1 point

Than any nukige? for sure (I hate nukige vns)? This is of course a personal opinion, I don't own the truth, like anything in this medium is all about personal tastes, even when something is really bad it can be considered a masterpiece by someone *caught* nukige vns *caught* Again, this is a bland vn but you can't rate it alone because that's not the point, it comes in a package with alternative. You can't have one without the other, you need to see them like a big vn but like I said before when you go back and have that contrast between the two of them, one being a really slow paced vn with really nothing going on because that's the goal, to show the life of a stupid egocentric kid little brat that doesn't care about anything in his life except himself, doing nothing at all except playing video games and going to school acting like a moron (this is extra) then you have unlimited which is just the introduction of alternative (I won't say anything because of spoilers) and finally you have alternative which is a 180° turn from extra an unlimited in all the possible ways you can imagine, after that you realize that extra and unlimited were in fact good and you kinda want to go back again to that world.1 point

That Eriko CG of her at the cafe glumly looking away is one of the cutest CGs I've ever seen in a VN.1 point

Been reading YU-NO, slow progress because no walkthrough ._. A VN from 1994 lets you put hentai CG as main menu's background, why is this not a standard feature?1 point -
Great work on gathering these as usual! I read this every week but I seldomly leave a comment so there you go1 point

Gurenka Part 2 (End)
Chronopolis reacted to Zalor for a blog entry
It's weird how this (of everything you said) is what most interests me about the VN. I like seeing the teacher/mentor archetype in VNs and anime, especially when it's done well, and it seems like you're saying it is. However: When you say "merely passable" how does that compare to the 'everyday' scenes in the more modern Key titles? If the school scenes are more like the ones in G-Senjou I could probably tolerate it though. This kind of strikes home for me. Recently I graduated from HS, and the last couple of weeks with my group of friends was weird. (It was a lot like a VN). Everything was like it always was, but we all knew (but rarely spoke) about the impending graduation. It was like we didn't want to think about that big inevitable change that would end the monotonous cycle we grew accustomed to. So in this sense, I can understand the characters wanting to protect their everyday lives. It stems from a fear of involuntary change (I would guess, as I haven't read the VN).1 point -
Only responding 2 months late, but I fully approve of this ship! May it be acknowledged publicly that I am the biggest Kanon fan on the site! In turn I ship you with Katawa Shoujo. I think I made that even more official in this video:1 point

English isn't my native language and it feels good because I have a hard time seeing how Ixrec's translations are awful for instance. Still, I have read some Shakespeare in english and I didn't find the prose itself to be that stunning, for me it's just some text with a bunch of old vocabulary, it feels weird to say that, I guess I don't have the sensibility. Fortunately, good prose isn't necessary to an interesting story, I would hardly call that a major drawback imo. That said, I don't encourage machine translation and shoddy writing but I would choose a fan-translation of an untranslated VN over a profesional translation for an already fan-translated VN.1 point

*shurgs* People really set their standard way high up. I've seen a few people like it, myself included. It's not really good, but it's not THAT bad. People are being too subjective because there are almost no deaths. Of course if you're expecting Alternative you'll get disgusted. The show focuses less on Beta and more on political struggle with flawed and naive ideas. I just take show for what it is. I liked the characters, some more then the ones from Alternative. I think everyone should try it and see for themselves. Extra is really entertaining on its own, don't know why people hate it. Has some good gags and drama thrown in. Especially Unlimited, the ending had me in tears. Alternative is definitely great but it wouldn't be as awesome as it is if you don't experience everything in full package.1 point
