Glad to see the love, although in disguise. Hopefully, everything will be just fine. Everything happened a bit suddenly, but I dare say it's not the end of the world. You're welcome! You have a serious misconception about my particular tastes. I've seen worse farewells. Or this one if you prefer: Using Edgeworth is practically cheating, so I'm afraid you do not win. Somebody really has been asking for a good lashing these past few days... Funny how I'm constantly called British. I most certainly approve. Gentlemen, this marks my last post for a while. Eclipsed wins with the avatars, but you can still submit if you want. I did not have the time to record anything, my most insincere apologies.2 points -

Hey guys~ Been a while since I updated this post last. DEMO NOW AVAILABLE Links below: Direct DL Steam On sale now: http://store.steampowered.com/app/367020/ No One But You is a Visual Novel/Dating Sim about Hideaki, a high school student who has just returned to his hometown, Okutama. Upon returning, Hideaki re-discovers a town he knew from childhood, meeting new friends and reuniting with those he had long forgotten. He resumes his high school life in the big city, quickly adapting to the change in pace, and before he knows it, Hideaki begins to think of this city as his home once more. Hideaki's life in Okutama is upbeat and fun, thanks to the many friends he makes, including Megumi, an energetic student council member; Chinatsu, a reserved senior in the literature club; Shiro, an unsociable music-lover; and Yui, an obstinate girl who rarely expresses herself honestly. Surrounded by an interesting group of friends, Hideaki lives out his days without a care in the world, content to enjoy a normal high school life. Whether he's going out with friends or studying for exams, his new life is truly peaceful. But not for long. As Hideaki's stay in Okutama continues, ghosts from his past begin to come back, increasingly intruding on the new life he's trying to build. As if that wasn't bad enough, his new friends all have secrets of their own, and the more Hideaki involves himself with their daily lives, the deeper into mutual despair he sinks. Will you be able to put to rest the evils of the past and finally live out the normal high school life you crave? Will you be able to put your friends' minds at ease, erasing the trauma and misery ruining their otherwise peaceful lives? Because whether you like it or not, for this very task it can be no one but you. A little info: At the moment we are partnered with both Sekai Project and MangaGamer Characters: Screenshots:1 point

Hello everyone! Rose here, bringing you guys a post about a really amazing thread we have here at Fuwanovel. The one on the spotlight this time is going to be the "Data extraction thread", created by maefdomn. Long time idea. If for whatever reason you need some data from a game, would it be music, sprites, CG's and if like me you SUCK with computers, well worry no more because I have the solution for you. -maefdomn on the thread's introduction It's common to enjoy a nice Visual Novel and then want some kind of data from the game, maybe for an avatar, maybe a wallpaper, who knows. On the data extraction thread, you get a huge list of file types and different methods for each, good methods for specific VNs, a list of a few useful websites, and versatile tools that are able to cover a wide variety of games. Needless to say, the explanations are well-written and following them step by step should be enough for you to get whatever you may want. While maef surely worked a lot to make this project a reality, some other members also helped, some testing the methods on the thread, others suggesting different methods, and so on. A shoutout to Zakamutt, Down, Blizzard884, The Major, Steve & Luch, dsp2003, and Binaryfail for being said members. The project is dead right now as maef isn't able to make the tests himself and he didn't found anyone willing to take it from his hands, but some other members are still helping anyone who needs some guidance beyond the original posts. So even if the project itself isn't being updated anymore, you can still search there for a way to extract your data, and ask for help if needed. Thank you Binaryfail, dsp2003, CryingWestern, and Kelebek1 for helping the community. Thanks a lot everyone who helped making this project the great success that it is, you guys are all amazing!1 point

I'm actually not so sure about that. There's been numerous claims that Japanese isn't taught that well in western universities. I hear that they even start teaching you words before touching grammar (which is not a good idea). There might be some exceptions (I'd hate to think all universities are bad), but it seems like online resources would be your best bet for learning the language.1 point -

Favorite BGM/soundtrack of a Visual Novel
Eclipsed reacted to Fred the Barber for a topic
I really, really like the KonoSora soundtrack. It's right up there on my favorite VN soundtrack list, alongside only a handful of other soundtracks all of which are from much better VNs (pretty much just all things Key, and F/SN, are with it). Say what you like about the rest of the VN, but KonoSora totally nailed BGM.1 point -

Some questions about CGs
starlessn1ght reacted to Nosebleed for a topic
Well yeah an illustrator is supposed to know those things, that's why they're called illustrators. And what I meant was, the ones who write the story (scriptwriters) are the ones who usually decide whst the characters are doing at a given time. They, probably with the director, alongside the illustrators likely work out the poses and whatnot to make sure everything is the way they intended it to be.1 point -

Confession: I've been feeling that I'm squandering and wasting every opportunity I have been given in life for the last (school)year. Some of you would likely kill for these opportunities. I'm afraid I will become a failure because of not working hard enough, not improving my alleviatable weak points, not taking up the opportunity when I had the chance. Never having the chance to get into the Ivy League universities is sad, but knowing you could have gotten into the Ivy League but didn't because of things you could have fixed, but didn't... that's my personal hell.1 point -

Dorm Life
Cyrillej1 reacted to Fred the Barber for a topic
My dorm experiences. Keep in mind, I am definitely an introvert: - first year, quad. two shared bedrooms and a common room. I landed cool but fairly quiet roommates (and was the same myself). We chatted a bit, but mostly did our own things. Still, it was social enough to keep things interesting, and we got along just fine. - second year, I got a single. I was bored out of my mind all the time because I didn't get enough social contact. - third year, five-person suite where I had my own bedroom (back with several of my first-year roommates). This was a pretty sweet setup, but by this time I was spending a lot of my time outside the dorm with other friends, so the dorm situation didn't matter much either way. - fourth year, a quad with three guys who were all good friends at the start of the year. We were all much better friends at the end of the year. This was, in all likelihood, the best year of my life so far. I still love those guys. In my opinion, the ideal situation is actually more roommates, not fewer. In a double, you're going to have a real risk of having situations get out of control because there are just two people to argue back and forth about tiny little things. A triple is probably going to make it easier for everyone to keep a cool head. The only bad rooming situations I heard about in college were doubles, and the only bad experience for me was a single (oddly enough). More roommates, better!1 point -

Continuation! Daitoshokan no Hitsujikai Translation
Fiddle reacted to AnthranDawn for a topic
I think it's time I shed some light on the situation, shall I? First of all, I want to apologize for my lack of updating, let lone actually logging into the site. For those wanting an explanation as to why I have not updated even once since the project's annoucement, it's due to a situation and several changes that happened within the past month or so. When I initally announced the project, I had just completed college and I was all set to continue on with my education. I had taken the summer off from my previous job and was ready and willing to commit to the project as a full-time commitment. I had reached out to several people and even gotten some replys from some of them who were interested in working on it. To me, everything was going to proceed along smoothly and I had high hopes that it would be translated rather quickly. That being said, literally the Friday I had announced the project, I got a call from one of my friends asking me to apply to a compnay he was working at in order to work in a new department that was being developed. I interviewed the following Monday and was hired the day after. When the project was announced I had a clear cut plan on where my life was going as well as a good 3+ months to work on the project. This plan was destroyed not even a week after I had planned everything out and was ready to get started. In the couple of weeks before I started, I tried to do what I could with the work, but after reviewing the scripts and seeing how much time and effort that was needed to do it the right way, I determined that I had a responsibility to a company that was generous enough to give me an opprotunity I simply could not refuse. I wanted to make sure I was focused on preforming at my job, and not letting anything distract me for the time being. It's my first time working at a big company, so I wanted to make sure I was prepared everyday with a mind focused on nothing but my work. Additionally, I gave it a little bit of time to see if I could have enough energy on the weekends to work on the project, as I'm sure that is the case with a lot of people in the translation community, as I know I'm not the only one who has to work for a living. Working 10 hour days every day has left me extremely exausted come Friday night. I've never worked 50+ hour work weeks before, so it's still something I have to get used to, so I feel quality translation and team cooridination is something I cannot do effeciantly. I've looked through the replys in this thread, and I apologize to those voicing their concern. In fact your posts didn't invoke any negative reaction out of me, as you had every right to be skeptical, especially due to my lack of input in the thread. I was overjoyed that this project even got the attention of some of the Fuwa staff, which gave my motivation to make this a reality, but sadly, I have to focus on getting used to this new lifestyle I'm living. I apologize to the community for suddenly backing out of it, but I assure you all that I had full intentions of completing it, but as I'm sure you all know, life has a funny way of changing completeltly on you in such a small time frame. It seems someone else is activly working on the Visual Novel, and I say good luck to you my friend, I look forward to seeing your completed work. With that little novlet written, I don't intend to simply dissapear from the website. Visual Novels are still an interest of mine, and in the future, when I have some stability again, I'd love to contribute to anything in anyway that I can. Thanks everyone. I do appreciate your words of encouragment and any support that you have offered to me. I hope I can offer the same in the near future.1 point -

Dorm Life
Cyrillej1 reacted to rainsismyfav for a topic
It's hit-or-miss depending on who you end up with. Depending on your dorm situation, you can also switch dorms/rooms. Though most dorms have a freeze during the first few weeks. My first roommate wasn't a pleasant experience and I knew it right off of first week. Luckily for me the room next door had an opening, and the guy there seemed better and was ok with me transferring. He turned out to be really really cool. He was an extrovert but he was tolerant of a lot of things, despite being the stereotypical party-all-the-time guy. He didn't judge me from living the introvert lifestyle that I had lived and it was really fun hanging around him and his friends once in awhile. They also spiced up my college experience like the time they'd bring girls to our dormroom1 point -
Hey everybody, Due to yet more complaints from our awesome devs, I decided to post to make the community aware that a former user is still stalking the forums and harassing users. He has gone by many aliases in the past: “OmniKnight”, “Façade”, “Ghost”, “Zodai_Strife”, “Lucia”, “Shirou”, and others. His skype username is “russelparadox” (atm appears as “Balthier”) / Okazaki Tomoya. We've been patient with this guy for a long time, and only started taking action after he started bugging devs and mentors. Today I tried talking to him directly to settle the issue, and he made it clear that he has no intention of stopping. Omni tends to make accounts, spam PMs to members, staff, or people on the dev boards inviting them to have private Skype conversations (or join one of his Skype groups), and then tries to use them in all sorts of weird ways (ex: at one point he tried to amass a following to “overthrow” Fuwa so he could reestablish it “in the form” laid out by “the Constitution of the United States.” Like I said: odd duck). In the last few days he’s allegedly lost a major source of funding after misusing their money for his own benefit, so if he approaches you asking for money, or to join a team, or provide services, be extremely careful. It’s likely in your best interest to ignore and/or block him. So. Reminder: If any user – no matter how new or old – contacts you and makes you feel uncomfortable, please contact a mod right away. We have a strict no-harassment policy here on Fuwa. Thanks, Tay1 point
