Hey guys, as a bunch of you know I've been working on this thing for quite a while now because I had no idea what to do with it. So, I decided to just make it a boring old thank you post. Sorry! Anyways, as some of you might know I found this site around christmas last year, after finding and finishing Katawa Shoujo and looking for a dedicated forum about VN's. This is because KS's forum sucks balls. Anyways, I got hooked on fuwa immediately thanks to its amazing userbase (despite a few sour people/trolls who shall not be named) which is why I feel the need to thank some of you for being there in a time where I needed a shoulder to lean on. I was feeling like shit for the longest time and you guys helped me out a lot. After being bullied for years and finding out some things about my mental state I really wish I had never found out, you guys gave me a new home. I seriously cannot express how grateful I am for that. If you told me this time last year when I signed up to this community that I would not only stick with it, but would consider it one of the highlights in my social life I would've laughed at you. Yet here we are, one year and 608 posts later. I'm not exaggerating when I say joining this community was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I know I'm not the most active person on the forums but that doesn't change the fact that this community has helped me become a more social person and actually given me a great reason to play visual novels. Well, the answer to the above question is simple... I saw the monster girl anime for this season's first episode and got curious about what kind of content these games had... to be honest, I was planning to drop it inside the first few hours, using it as a break from more serious content before starting Baldr Force.. but I was surprised to find just how good the writing in these games is. That said, the early games (the Lamia and Alraune games) are nukige, as presented... and the H scenes are kind of guro in a lot of cases (to be honest, I can't get into the H in this series at all, lol). However, I was kind of stunned at how good the writing is in the ones I've played and how they created a sense of connection and continuity between all the VNs in the series. First, you have to understand that all the VNs prior to Monmusu Gakuen are written in the same general period of the setting's history and Gakuen is written in a period fifteen to twenty-five years after those (the kids from three of the VNs are heroines in Gakuen). The most solid of the VNs as a whole is the Arachne/Harpy/Cyclops VN, which focuses on Hibiki, a guy who basically gets summoned from Earth by Ariane the Arachne on a whim... The speed with which he adjusts to his new lifestyle is a bit unreal, but the interactions between him and the heroines are endlessly amusing... and the actual story of each path is touching enough emotionally that I cried, despite the fact that I had to skip past the H to keep from being ill in some cases (you can tell that the writer is basically acting out his fetishes with enthusiasm...). The Scylla/slime VN is the second most solid, with a somewhat... free-spirited pirate as a protagonist. The slime is a total moron who believes anything the scylla maid says... which wouldn't be so bad if the scylla's hobby wasn't making her look like an idiot. I spent most of this one just laughing... endlessly laughing. I laughed until my jaw hurt with this one. The general absurdity of the VN's premise doesn't in any way take away from the comedic character dynamic or the emotionality of the heroine paths (there is pretty much nothing emotional until you actually get on those two paths). Monmusu Gakuen is the weakest of the three I completed (three VNs in two days) and it retains a lot of the atmosphere of the other two... but in exchange, the H is even more guro and the number of heroines kind of dilutes the emotionality of the paths in several cases. Nonetheless, it is easy to get attached to them, simply because of the protagonist's point of view as their teacher. I came out of curiosity and stayed for the writing. I'm just curious... why is it that some of the best VN writers are the weirdest kind of pervert? Edit: I almost didn't write anything on these... but I felt I owed it to the people who might actually be interested in this kind of interracial romance story to at least say something about my experience. I just also felt the need to warn you that... if you have imaginings about the H, it is actually probably a bit worse than you imagined.

The funny thing is that that might actually work, lol. Edit: To clarify, this is a tendency that actually appeals to most modern cultures with a strong entertainment industry and a love for melodrama... the love of long names is pretty much universal to lovers of high fantasy and historical fiction, lol. Edit2: Also, it is a function of the German language, which has a tendency to create lots of really long compound words rather than create new words from scratch... For all that the Germans themselves tend toward efficiency as a society, their language is the exact reverse, from what I've studied.

"abhorrent" is inaccurate. Harukoi Otome is 100% mediocre. Average. There are many games out there that are worse. There are many that are better. Harukoi is a solid 5/10.

This looks like quite the predicament… Eventually you guys will have to talk about this. I can somewhat understand your stance. I take it you don’t want her to waste her time pursuing you when you know she absolutely has no or very little chance. In my opinion, try to directly approach this topic, after confirming that she is trying to pursue you (well.. the signs are pretty obvious like you said). You don’t have to be blunt right off the bat, but steer the topic to romance at one point. Be direct. When it comes to romance, I feel like most people tend to be quite stubborn. Their mind is clouded by their own bias. They interpret words/actions in a way that fits their optimistic (or pessimistic) agenda. This is the reason why people can take minor things and expand it to like “She stared at me for 3 seconds. oh, does this mean he/she likes me. Is he/she checking me out?” (Amongst many other minor things that gets taken out of proportion). People are also willing to cling to any small hope they can find. It’s best for you to slightly crush her hopes/dreams a bit so she can move on in reality (and find better opportunities). Others might disagree with me on this approach as it can be quite cruel. An alternative will be just keep things the way they are, not letting it get anywhere. But in my opinion, be direct and hope that she gets the message. Goodluck.

Minusing 10 lovecas on milestone, 2 lovecas from idolising Eri and the N card, 2 lovecas from daily login rewards, I get a net loss of 10 lovecas this time. This event cutoff was similar to that of Kotori SM which is unexpected. Last 30 minute before end of event I decided to throw 1 loveca to secure T2, turning out that I didn't need to do it but welp, play safe End of event I used the ticket given and 1 soloyolo (both giving me R as expected) to fill up the bar so I can get the 5th voucher. Imouto Paradise

Dunno if prequel's the right word (it was for the first episode, but this episode was after Hotaru joined), but it's looking like just more tales from the year in Asahigaoka. Not that I mind, adds detail and depth to the characters

Swan Song is post apocalyptic, translated, and one of the best Visual Novels I have read thus far. Without a doubt I recommend it. You need to download the VN (unfortunately I am not allowed to link you to a download), and apply a translation patch which you can get here. (This site that hosts the download for the translation patch may also host the download for the VN itself ) Regarding zombie post apocalyptic VNs, there honestly aren't that many. The Japanese don't seem to be obsessed with zombies in the same way western pop-culture is.

Persona 3 Portable also uses Persona 4's battle engine, which in my opinion is superior to the original persona 3 battle engine. Also the answer is a grind fest, if you just want the story, a youtube video exists showing just the cutscenes/important battles.

FES has 3D graphics for all the game, also it has "the answer" chapter, who's basically an ending after the ending, also it's apparently a disappointing grind fest. Persona 3 Portable has 2D fix images for most of the game, the 3D is kept for the Dungeons, but it has a Female protagonist, and a well written female protag, also cutest girl in the game. Beware, P3 is "darker" than P4, and of course, P2 is the most disturbing one.

abhorrent sums up Harukoi Otome perfectly. I have a feeling that bookworm was way too kind to it. Incidentally, the two best routes according to him are the only two routes I've played (besides half of Umi's), and they were both awful. They did have some almost decent slice of life stuff but the moment they try to be dramatic they become pretty much the worst things ever.

I wouldn't have many problems with Harukoi Otome, if it wasn't just so fucking boring. It's the slowest, longest and most boring thing I've ever read. If a VN makes the reader check the clock every five to ten minutes, because scenes feel like they go on for atleast an hour, it probably has pacing issues. Every single route in HO has that one time frame, in which the main character tries to understand his feelings for whatever girl is next on the list and is depressed. These segments are filled with hours worth of nothingness and redundancy. It usually goes like this: I would never recommend this to anyone. Well, unless you try to kill yourself through sheer boredom.

Saying "unsettling" was probably a bad way of putting it. It was more like... one of the worst days I have ever experienced. My best friend's mom died yesterday. She was like a second mom to me, and my friend is in crazy rough shape. The moment I heard the news I went downstairs and began pumping air into my old bike's tires, as I had no other way of getting to him. It should also be noted... that I live 45km away from him. I was ready to bike that far to get to him. I got about 10km and my step-dad picked me up and took me the rest of the way. But yeah, I got in and gave him a huge hug and now I am sitting in his basement at about 2:10 AM... Everyone in our direct friend group stopped everything they were doing and made their way to his place. At the very least... they say she died of natural causes... and did not suffer. I just... don't even know how to handle this. I don't need advice or anything... I just needed somewhere to kinda get it off my chest, as I need to keep a good front for my friend. :/

If you have it, then play it for yourself and make your own judgement. I don't think it impacts the game as negatively as sanahtlig implies. well your game is based on a tv show, so people will likely think of it as a fanfiction game. every picture you post seems too lightly not creepy or dark like the Paranormal Activity series. lastly you are completely out match with the real story, it's impossible to try and copy the real thing.

Know your target audience. For one I'm assuming this is an OELVN since you're posting it on Fuwa. Put a post up on the site, maybe check out the subreddits - see if you can get into the anime fanbase as well, as there's a lot of overlap and I'd certainly like to let people know. Just be sure you don't over-do it. If it feels like hard work, that means it's starting to work. After that there's just figuring out how to put that effort forward effectively. If you're using Ren'py as an engine I'd advise putting it up on a PC platform as well - most of the core VN audience still uses PC primarily. You're also going to want to ask for feedback - THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT. As this is a demo I'm assuming the full game isn't finished yet. Never underestimate the power of feedback, and if you want to get fancy about it use the feedback-gathering areas to generate buzz as well, though this takes a bit to get right. You're not going to get much interest out of the 'standard' gaming audience. The primary target is the anime/otaku/Core VN audience. Focus your marketing and attention-gathering there, and make absolutely sure the writing can hook them from the first scene. Just know I'm assuming this is a VN since you posted it here - it could be something completely different in which case half my advice is useless. Just focus on what your audience is and polishing and editing and re-editing (Yes, you need to do it more than once) so that it can be the best it can be.
