    Fuwanovel Confessions

I was actually joking to myself, "He'll be a 21-year-old loser who doesn't do anything worthwhile with his life" but uh, happy (early) bday ayy lmao It's okay, this place can be for anything from shipping members to your deepest insecurities. It's all right.

  3. Having started college a few months ago, I still find myself looking back on high school in a very retrospective light. Sometimes I look back with nostalgia on the fun I had with my friends and the joys of my old life, but other times (including most recently) I look back on the things I regret. Particularly I regret my complete inaction in pursuing romantic relations. If my High School experience were like a VN, I got (and indeed I chose) the no girl bad ending. In fact, the no girl ending in Yume Miru Kusuri basically summarizes my experience. The fact that I can identify with the main protagonist from YMK (Kouhei Kagami) as much as I can is almost scary. Quotes from that ending like "I just couldn't be bothered. There have been a number of chances. And when I think about it, they all had to do with girls. I kept my distance from them, because of their peculiarities. I was concerned that I might get caught up in something bothersome. And that's why I refrained from getting involved with any of them." (Not using a spoiler tag since this quote doesn't really spoil anything from the VN) What's particularly striking about this is that much like that ending, I had options. Not just options, but multiple opportunities that I repeatedly declined. There were girls that I knew were interested in me, and I intentionally did nothing about it. At the time I dismissed them because I didn't think we would match well. But that sounds a bit too much like "I kept my distance from them, because of their peculiarities." And above all, much like a bad ending, I feel this lingering hopelessness. I realize that I haven't really changed much from high school. Which makes me fear Kouhei's concluding words in that bad ending even more, "I'm sure that, in reality... I never really wanted it to change..." In all honestly, I think things will be fine for me (in the future); I'm just in a particularly gloomy mood right now which is influencing my thoughts and writing. But yeah, how about you guys? If your high school experience were a visual novel, what ending did you get? (I'm really curious if anybody got something resembling the childhood friend ending.)

  5. That seems to be the way things work with Kickstarter. Kickstarter is like a patronage system, and in my experience watching kickstarters the more that is known about developers and/or a particular game, the better a kickstarter will potentially do. This is because there will be more confidence in investors. Muv Luv benefitted from people having experience with the game, same with Clannad and Grisaia, people knew what they were getting. If I look at the RPG scene, the greatest investments were given to proven and well-known developers with solid demos and/or detailed plans. Because Mikandi Japan is unknown in the West, my view is the more information available about the VN the better. The less is known, the riskier the investment, and the less likely people will take the plunge. That’s just my 3 ¼ gold-painted, lead coins anyway (obviously valuable...)

  8. Seeing as how Zebhra missed the last session I shall fill you all in... Part 3: Rivals in a Dead Town Starring: Zodai: the DM, Serria (NPC), Carrewyn (NPC) and Ariella (NPC) Nimbus: Mad Serpent Midgar JoeHawks: Orryn Abyssal Monkey: Aeryl Zebhra: Franz Special Appearance by; Babiker: Basha Our story continues with the adventurers, now with the addition of a new, and rather promiscuous human NPC, giving their Ranger friend a viking funeral after deciding to leave him behind. As they left the cave to continue their journey west Serria asked the group "Did anyone think to check his pulse?" All eyes turned to Carrewyn who was too busy swatting a fly with his sword to answer. Franz attempted to try some morning calisthenics but fell down a hill and knocked himself out. The party continued their travels until they reached the ruins of a village. Midgar and Orryn searched the town hall while the others looked around outside (presumable looking for something to prank Carrewyn with). Midgar searched one of the first floor rooms, got blinded by some dust and exited the room with his pride considerably wounded. Orryn on the other hand went upstairs and found an office that seemed to have been visited by a monster. Inside he found a locked drawer that drew his attention. The two met up with the others and told them of the draw, Aeryl led the others back to the room and opened the drawer with no effort (much to the amazement and embarrassment of everyone else). Inside there were many documents (which Ariella seemed very interested in) and a map. A tremor forced the group to continue their examination outside the hall. Serria tells the group that the symbol on the map was familiar to her. She, Orryn and Midgar followed the map to the room Midgar had visited earlier and found a trapdoor. Following it down the trio eventually found themselves at a door, which Orryn deduced was not lifeless on the other side. Orryn and Midgar drew straws to see who would open it (guess who lost). Midgar charged through the door and the group was blinded by a bright light. Orryn in a rare lapse of judgment rushed into the room, missed the light source and banged his head on a wall. On the other-side of the room was a mage named Basha who seemed to be in distress. In his hand was an empty potion vial. The mad mage mumbled some drivel before collapsing on the floor. Midgar and Orryn examined the floor to find many different potions scattered across the floor. Getting real tired of Midgar's pirate shit, and Orryns terminal righteousness, the two force fed each other potions that they picked up which resulted in the Dragonborn and the Gnome knocking each other out. Our story ends with the mage and Serria looking at each other, wondering who would carry the 6'5 lizard-man and who would carry the glorified leprechaun. On next weeks episode; more comic relief by serious characters.

  9. I'm of the opposite opinion regarding using the momentum of the Japanese release. While I can't speak for others, I'm uneasy backing something when I don't know how it will turn out. Sure, there's a Japanese demo, and I happen to be capable of actually playing and understanding it, but how many of your potential backers could say the same? A cautious "investor" would wait to see how the Japanese release is received before pledging to this. If you're confident of the quality of the product, positive reception in Japan would be a feather in your cap. On the other hand, negative reception would obviously damage the campaign. If you're in a rush to push this ASAP, it could raise eyebrows. I'd probably wait til the final day to pledge myself, as by then there would be some scores on Erogamescape at least. I have rather conservative views regarding the use of Kickstarter, however. My views may or may not be representative of others'. Crowdfunding visual novel localization: An eroge enthusiast's perspective (Reddit discussion here) A Prefundia is a chance to seek feedback on backer rewards and stretch goals. Degica ended up making some pretty big changes during the course of the MuvLuv Prefundia. They removed the initial stretch goal entirely and folded it into the initial goal, among other things.

  11. If my high school experience were a VN, I bet it would be an Utsuge that would only warrant pity. Throughout most of my highschool, I didn't have much free time due to having like 3 extracurricular activites that were very time consuming, in the 10th grade I got bullied and beaten by some pothead until the board of directors intervened and also in the 10th grade I had a big crush on a classmate of mine, who promptly humiliated me in front of a few people (to make matters worse, her gossip friend who tells everyone everything was with her so the next day the whole school knew about my glorious feat). In 11th grade, still no time for myself almost, saw a friendship I deemed great turn sour and abusive as the guy mocked me for one year because my father was dead and his wasn't (this went on for the whole school year because I was lonely and had no other friends to turn to), played World of Warcraft and began spending ludicrous amounts of money behind my mother's back in order to feel a sliver of control and self esteem. In the 12th grade things got somewhat better. After beginning to watch anime and reconnecting with some old friends, I stopped talking to that abusive friend of mine and started hanging out with a group of acquaintances who became good friends of mine, began investing more time in my studies and got better grades, met a girl with similar hobbies to mine and we actually got along well... Then came the time when I had to decide what I was going to study in college, didn't know what I wanted so ended up going to a course chosen by my mother. Before I began college, that girl with similar hobbies found out I had a crush on her and proceeded to dump me because she was in love with a voice actor from Japan. Finally, I went to my high school graduation ceremony and had to hold back a dam's worth of tears because I didn't want to go. When I was talking to my History teacher, he gave me a goodbye hug (never wanted to cry so much in my entire life, yes even when my father died, sue me). Now I'm in my last year of college and that is a whole other can of worms for another time. So yeah, my highschool life can pretty much be described as a Bad End from start to finish. Yay me. Edit: Oh, and I forgot to mention I didn't go to my highschool prom because I didn't have a person to go with and I didn't want to embarass myself for being the lonely fuck who couldn't even get someone to go with him.

  12. I hit the true end where I somehow broke up with my high school sweetheart, went to the other side of the country and met a new cast of less interesting cardboard cutout versions of the characters I met at home, and wasted away in loneliness. However, there is a plot twist at the very end where I come back from that side of the country, and meet back up with that same high school sweetheart and we get back together, closer than ever before. So... pretty decent true end. Best way I can describe it. xD

  16. The eroge industry in Japan is in bad shape. Sales are down all around. Minori commented on this a few years ago, and more recently an AliceSoft staff member did as well. The market is oversaturated and quite frankly Japan's demographics are shifting in an unfavorable way with the whole aging population issue and shrinking youth. When highly successful companies are raising death flags, you know something's up. Honestly the English eroge market isn't doing swell either. While visual novels are seeing increasing interest, story-focused eroge are being squeezed out by cheap nukige on one side and better selling non-adult titles on the other. JAST commented a few months ago that the Steam revolution is a double-edged sword for the eroge industry. If developers decide the English eroge market isn't worth catering to and just go direct for Steam (like Debonosu), then there's not much eroge publishers can do.

  17. Honestly, my high school years were terrible because I was a total mess emotionally. I avoided everyone because of my shyness & anxieties, so I didn't really have any close friends and sometimes ended up being targeted by bullies. At that time I escaped into internet/games to deal with the loneliness and ended up crushing on someone I talked with a lot. That resulted in a Bad Ending. There were two people at school that I interacted superficially with, and they treated me really kindly so I ended up crushing on them throughout my high school years.. but I was never able to act on those feelings, so they just ended up in Bad Endings - nothing happened. I was just a weirdo somewhat obsessed with them from afar, and just enjoyed their company when I got it. I've never went to any kind of prom or w/e due to not ever having anyone to go with. Soo if my school romance life were a VN, I'm thinking something similar to utsuge ^^; lots of depressing and uncertain feelings~ lol.

  20. Removing the H-content removes a good 75% of the game. I know it might be an exaggeration but it actually it is in this game. I know this personally since I beat and 100% 4 of these Kagura games and a couple of Debonosu's games (Chaos Labyrinth and Senjin Otome, both of which are amazing vns with gameplay and awesome CG/scenes). I've seen sanahtlig and Sekai Project bring up a ton of issues with them but they are mostly ignored, showing how arrogant these guys are and don't want to see a bigger potential in the long run. If you are looking for this game somewhere, you might not find it anymore on some game download sites since Debonosu actually took some effort to have them all taken down but if you search by its Japanese name on the internet: 神楽道中記 then you might get lucky and find a source where you can also download most of Debonosu's works. I'll just leave it at that since we're not really suppose to encourage downloading illegally. Then, I used these sites to help me understand the game more. Use google translate or auto translate tool/s on your browser: Walkthrough: http://miko.org/~siroyata/kouryaku/kagura_dotyuki.html Item information: http://miko.org/~siroyata/kouryaku/kagura_dotyuki_2.html If you got the basics down from those, it will help you immensely on the other Kagura games too since they somewhat use the same mechanic. The perk of the "game over rape" is what sells this game and most of Debonosu's works. Not a lot of companies have the effort to do "outcome/possibilities/scenarios" after that dreaded game over screen but Debonosu took it down a notch and actually made it "worth it" to lose on purpose. It's an amazing genre and Debonosu should not be embarrassed about it. There's all sorts of H-scenes that cater to all types of fetishes including romantic vanilla sex, tentacles, yuri, bondage, underwater sex, NTR, and even furry sex if you're into that.... There are also countless of ways to get a bad ending for each character, if your mikos get raped too many times in their vagina, butt, or even raped so many times even after being "purified" (up to 20 times) and they become a nymphomaniac (I love these bad endings since they are absolutely erotic). Each demon/enemy (and there's about 20+ of them too!!!) also has 3-4 H-scenes EACH depending on whether it had sex with your mikos for the first time, the second time, and the time that will result in a game over. From all of that, that's roughly 40-50% of the game cut out already from the Steam version. Bye bye 100+ CGs and Scenes... The other 25-35% content cut comes dialogue omissions/removal/censoring and from not having included Vol 2 add-on which features a new dungeon and a boss and Vol 3 with a new playable character (Koharu) who is a miko girl with moe and cat girl mannerisms. She's actually my favorite from all the other mikos (Ibuki and Nazuna). It's really disappointing since this is one of the VNs with gameplay that I really like and Debonosu just treated it like garbage and is getting so much hate in the Steam forums. If 18+ version was ever released, pretty sure a good majority of all players who said bad things about it would retract their statement because it is a really decent game for its H-scenes/gameplay.

  26. What exactly does Prefundia do anyway? Like "if thing looks bad, we can just go ahead and cancel the PJ without starting the Kickstarter"?
    1 point
  27. Most of the VN Kickstarters do a Prefundia preview to connect with the fanbase before going live on Kickstarter. Especially since this is your first VN Kickstarter, don't think it would be a good idea to do a Prefundia to draw extra attention and verify what sort of backer rewards people are interested in? Sekai Project speculated that one of the reasons their latest Kickstarter foundered is that they didn't do a Prefundia this time around. No, because no one want to kickstart that overcosting game.

  28. I gave some girl a bad ending in middle skoo . Total dickbag, ik Entered a couple routes that led to bad ends in early highskoo so lets not talk about that Late high skoo began really crushing on this girl that i knew since middle skoo but didnt really talk to much until then cuz idk, but we became super close bffs ez For some goddamn reason everybody knew i liked her even though i didnt tell anybody, gg im obvious i guess, dunno if she herself knew We went to prom together, annnnd nothing happened after that cuz i went the 'dont reveal true feelings' route, ikr whatta l0ser And cuz of different colleges we dont see each other much anymore 'til break when the whole highskoo crew get together for funtimes and Facebook photo tagging spam bonanza. Over at my college there's a gal I got to become rather acquainted with, and apparently the situation is "knew her since highskoo but didnt talk to until now" as well ._. She's a bit of an oddball, but thats what makes her charming but then i got into VNs, ggez, i got my 2D pink waifus, errbody else can go to Helsdfdsakfkjfkdj Edit: speaking of VNs, people have noticed that I became... more perverted(?) over the past year, i used to have a nice guy Naoe Riki bland goody two shoes rep, now I'm like Kotarou hitting-on-Kotori tier level, and so ppl are like "what happened to you?!" one day, ill tell them: i played neko para

  30. My high school life is like a VN cut into 2 parts where part 1 says "To be continued" in the end. My bf and I were just "good" friends in high school, so it's mostly slice of life scenes in a VN sense. Then we graduated and went out separate ways but destiny wouldn't let us get separated. My bf needed a cheap apartment and coincidentally the landlord of my apartment said we have a spare residence. So my bf resided just a floor above me and we were just a stairway away from each other. Then part 2 is an "after story/fandisc" of our college life together at different schools and how it evolved into complete harmony and bliss of what it is today. Away from all the slice of life/common route crap from part 1, we are now on the actual route with romance, realism, ecchi scenes, and sometimes drama.

  32. Gothderi comes to mind... its only ending is pretty non-good. Kinetic novels are generally in the minority, so it is hard to think up examples. I can't remember the ending to Namima no Kuni no Faust or Sinclient, but I'm pretty sure both were pretty bittersweet.

  33. Well, I ended up confessing to my high schoo crush, on the very last day of high school. So if this was a VN it would be bad end where the heroine smiles knowingly with a sad look on her face : ) A VN end is meant to be bad or good. How real life turns out is just an "end". You can make whatever of it and from there go anyway you want.

    Red-Haired Heroines?

gosh what a cute, feel-good picture Red hair's pretty hard, but one of these should do it. They're all very different characters actually. Kuon from Gurenka (only play Kuon and Elsrise's route, together reveal basically the whole story and the other routes suck.) Yukimura Toukofrom Hoshi Ori? Haven't played the game, but I'm if you like seishun that game should be great. Ami from Semiramis no Tenbin not a normal herione, not a normal vn. Satia from Ikusa Megami Zero She kind of dissappears for a while in the middle of the story (it's a gameplay VN). I'm not sure if she comes back. But that means she's present and active in the first bunch of chapters.
