  2. It's almost that time of year again, and with it comes a whole bundle of joy and cheer. My countdown has finally finished, and with it I welcome you to a very special extravaganza here on Fuwanovel. I am proud to announce OriginalRen's Christmas treat, a 12 day streaming event filled with all of your favorite translated, untranslated, and OEL visual novels! Starting in December, I will be counting down the holiday season with fan picked VNs from the community. Complete with Christmas cookies, Santa hats, holiday beverages, and special salty guests, I'll be going live for 12 days in a row with novels you as members of the community vote for. Whether it's in Japanese (translated live on stream with Mephisto) or English, anything goes. In addition to the main event, plenty of surprises lie in wait. You'll just have to wait until more information is revealed! So it's time to vote! The games you have picked are listed below. Until voting closes, anyone is allowed to post a game in this thread that they'd like to see streamed. Remember that Japanese games will be translated live, so it's absolutely fine to pick these. After the voting phase closes, I will make a poll that will be open for a few days. Members will be allowed to choose the games they want to see the most. The ones which are rated the highest will be streamed during the days the event actually starts, with a couple of surprises thrown into the mix as well... With that being said, additional information is listed below. If you have any questions, let me know! Voting Closes: December 1st @ 12:00am CST (6:00am UTC) Current List of Voted Japanese Novels: 1. Current List of Voted English Novels: 1. Current List of Voted OELVNs: 1.

  7. Ended up pulling an all-nighter because of the incredibly long Net High demo. I still haven't finished it, but this is probably the most hilarious shit I've ever played. Humour so self-aware that even the glossary is pretty much there just to poke fun at itself, real internet services parodies everywhere, and internet trolling turned into a battle of life and death... truly a game of the generation! In a society split into weaboo losers and people with a life, do you have enough memes to battle your way to the top and become the king of Twiitter?! Drown in followers or remain the worthless trash you are!

    Shuffle!

Shuffle! Licensed by YumeHaven Shuffle! follows the romantic life of Tsuchimi Rin a Japanese high schooler, who finds himself being sought after by a variety of girls. The world of Shuffle! consists of humans living in harmony with gods and devils. Despite their respective positive and negative connotations, both races are equally kind and good-natured. Your task is to choose a lover from the five girls the game offers. This story takes place in an average town in an average country. Two families move next door to the home of an average young man who lived his days in peace. One was the family of the King of the Gods and the other was the family of the King of the Devils. Both Kings came to fulfill their daughter's wish: to live next to the young man whom they've loved every since the fateful day they first met. "The man who can become either God, Devil, or Man", as his friend calls him with cynicism and envy, sets out on his new life full of turmoil, despair, and faint hope. The main character of the game is Rin Tsuchimi, a student at Verbana Academy, a national school which various races attend. Rin is a student at Verbana Academy, a national school which various races attend. His parents died when he was still a child and now he lives with his childhood friend Kaede. Rin is very patient, but he can't bear to see anyone suffer. Although his life was always peaceful, the sudden appearance of two princesses has made him the center of attention throughout the school. ***Ending Guide*** There are five main girl routes in Shuffle! There is no forced order for the routes and you can play which ever of the girls you like. However,to unlock Primula's route, you must complete Nerine's route first . They are all fun. Here is a detailed walkthrough for each. UPDATE: This Walkthrough was originally for the Mangagamer version of the game. The YumeHaven version has extra content, and it is possible the choices may vary a bit. ***Route Walkthrough*** Kaede Lisianthus Nerine Asa ***Bonus Routes*** You must complete Nerine's Route before you can get to Primula's Route. 10. I have seen so many users saying "I can make a visual novel with [name_engine] , its so better than [name_engine_2] because [name_reason]." Yet they forgotten that there are always bad things in a engine, you could fall for paying such engine to only discover that it has no way to make that dream game. This is why why i'm listing well known vn engines and their cons, I hope the guide will help you pick the right engine for you not the company. renpy - One of the most known engine in the world (i'm not kidding), it uses python language to make vn. It's being updated as much as it can and also people have been able to make rpg from it. The main reason people choose this over any other engine is due to the freedom to add anything, learning python takes a while but most people have the novels stay in dating sims or storyline. Another key reason it's used is due to the fact that it can make windows, linux, mac, android, and IOS, which is very great advantage for anyone wanting to build games in a certain area or so. Finally it can be use for commercial and non-commercial use, however the art is not free but that is another topic itself. tyranobuilder - The main problem with this engine is the price but if you willing to overlook that it offers almost the same has renpy. HTML is the reason people have buy the game, however there have been problems with the HTML from not being able to click anything to buttons not working. It claims to be the fastest VN maker but that is something the user has to figure out. If you are able to code 2 scenes in renpy under 30 minutes thats fast progress, tyranobuilder is drag&drop meaning you have to waste 50% of your progress to clicking on a button. lastly tyranobuilder script language is javascript, almost no indie developer even dare use javascript, the reason is due to the fact it was never built for games. It's the main reason why tyranobuilder games lag campre to any other engine in this list. Also the maker of tyranobuilder fail to understand that it was Processing.js that make games work better in javascript not ECMAScript. Novelty- its the same idea of tyranobuilder but it was first built way before tyranobuilder, also its free so there is no reason to even buy tyranobuilder other than the HTML that lags. Novelty use C++ and java to script the language, this is a huge advantage since you can use this language to get jobs faster in the world and people from unity will hire you for just knowing how to code a vn in C++. As far as i understand, the main reason no one goes there is because its only windows OS which limits everyone who is not windows. Belle - Another VN engine that works like tyranobuilder, one big difference is that it's free. If you looking for tyranobuilder alternative for its HTML, this will be the one (again it was build first). Another advantage is that it really does run well in HTML but the bad news is that it only builds HTML which is the only thing it can build the game. Unity plugin: Fungus - Now i dont know much about this engine (reading things off google), it does seem like it another no code engine. what really makes this one different from all other engines that i list is its ability to run animated sprites, unity build (standard build, no consoles included), and the script is whatever unity has right now. Since this is Unity you will face these problems, Poor graphics quality as compared to Unreal Engine, Unfriendly User-Interface (even if you download the plug-in you will still have a bad time on it), and lastly dependent of unity, if their web browser stops working you have to wait for them to fix it, if unity discover a hack bug you have to update, if they going to upgrade you have to upgrade. Cloudnovel- A website browser to make VN, the reason i put this one so low is because it does a poor job to help developers. You'll find that there is no scripting language so you cant really do anything new with it. Another thing is that you cant use it outside their website so it stays in cloudnovel with no way to gain money. The drag&drop has pages that you must click and wait for the website to load your pictures, music and your gameplay. Lastly on why it makes such a bad vn maker is due to the fact that its only in english, sure it might be possible that someone might do it without reading but most of the great stuff is in english writing and in english videos. Thats everything, I didnt add GM because its design to build platform games not VN, construct is way too basic gaming that offers unneeded elements in VN, RPG maker is only build for RPG, adding long dialog will not help in a rpg (only the boss does that) 80% of the game is fighting not learning about the story. I hope this little insight of what each vn engine offers and what doesn't offer will help you. If you have any questions post here or want to ask why [engine_name] is not added it's because i can't post all of them.

  15. Confession: So I've been going to a conference for the last 3 days (including today) and there's this like minimum 9/10 girl in my committee, damn son Confession 2: Today's program ended with a party, which had two distinct parts, first was a dinner. The next was dancing, which pretty much meant it was impossible to stay inside comfortably unless you enjoy blaring shitty pop music (or even worse, pop remixes of stuff like Englishman In New York or Hotel California). There were only tables of 12, so I sat with this one group of ladies from Saudi Arabia. Their lifestyle was seemingly much more similar to my secular lifestyle than I expected. The seat to my right was empty and most other girls on the table were talking between themselves so I ended up talking to the girl next to me, and fucking dammit did we get along. After the dancing started, we left the building and then we just sat on some chairs and then we listened to Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow (the songs were Catch The Rainbow & Rainbow Eyes) and Blue Öyster Cult (Astronomy, Don't Fear The Reaper) on my phone. Was one of the best days I've had in a long while. She's apparently Canadian but lives in Saudi Arabia lol email get Confession 3: I only just recently realized that my Samsung laptop's trackpad supports the "sliding with two fingers to scroll" gesture, which has improved my trackpad usage like 100x.

  19. Since we're approaching the deadline of our Kickstarter (6 days left!), we thought we'd share about our background process. That's right. We'll walk you through and through as to how our dedicated, talented artists spend sweat, blood and tears into breathing a magnificent BG art into The Letter. Don't feel too bad; it's actually their pleasure! [:D] The Letter's Background Process 2D Thumbnails We start off by planning our background composition and layout with thumbnail sketches. For the Ermengarde Mansion parlour, our lead artist (Eko) drew four quick sketches for us to choose from, putting only the larger objects that will be present in the scene. We decided to go with the fourth one for our next step. 3D Layout After picking a thumbnail to work from, our background artist (Czar) will now start layouting the scene in 3D. While we can certainly manually draw the scene line by line, using a 3D program to construct the scene helps speed up the process and allows us to easily add smaller objects to enhance the atmosphere. In this case, we added the wine table, candelabras, vase, and a clock to fill the empty space! Now that the basic layout is done, we now move on to the lineart! Lineart This is a pretty straightforward process: From our 3D program we now switch to Photoshop and start drawing our lineart based on the scene we created! We also modified parts of the lineart such as the window and the door, and drew it consistently with the design style of our mansion. Smaller details are also drawn manually such as the embellishments on the tables. Flat Colors Next we start planning our colors! Since our mansion is mostly consisted of warm colors, we decided go with the same ambience (notice how in the image the walls were originally supposed to be of a green color?). Once that is done, we can now finally start rendering the whole background! Rendering This is the process that took the most time in the entire background drawing process. Here we start to paint everything in the scene and slowly bring it to a detailed finish that is still consistent with the other backgrounds’ style! (Those patterns on the walls are actually made from our background artist’s sketch of Saitama from One-Punch Man! Cool, huh?) Lighting Many hours and three cups of coffee later, we can now add the lighting and make final adjustments to the illustration. Final Adjustments Lastly, we make adjustments to the whole picture to keep colors harmonious and bring out certain parts of the picture. Congratulations, you now have your background! What do you think? If you have any criticisms or suggestions, please feel free to comment them down below!

With the new art? Certainly not the better version! I would prefer the original voiceless version anytime over this ugly and generic moe looking piece of cancer. I will never forgive Peter for promising that you can switch to the original art and then not delivering. Without telling anybody beforehand! I feel so lucky that I forgot to preorder the game. Will certainly never preorder anything from JAST ever again. Don't forget that the original version didn't have any voices. The translator probably thought he could reword a little bit for better fluency in English.

reading kana imouto, so far it's really good but the translations is atrocious, there are many times when they don't translate what the characters are saying others the translations is not accurate at all, they don't use the names properly, not honorifics, it's a pain to read

  25. We've hit our goal with 38 hours left on the Kickstarter! If you haven't stayed updated with our Kickstarter campaign, you can find more about the news here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/yangyangmobile/the-letter-2/updates We really recommend checking it out, as it has news on new sprites and a new animation reel, updated rewards and more cool stuff. What's next? Well, we could always try going for the 40k Stretch Goal. The stretch goal aims to include voice acting in the final game, which was a much requested feature by our reviewers and backers. The Letter's final hours are here and we're on the edge of our seats!

  33. You do realize you can just turn off the voices in the options menu in any visual novel, right? Many even offer that option separately for different characters. You could but why spend an extra 20 bucks when you're not going to use the voices? It's just nice to have the option not to buy it if you don't think you're going to use it.

  34. The denpasoft page has mosaics as a tag. What's this argument even about?
    1 point
  35. Of course not. It's on display in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying “Beware of The Leopard." You, of all people, should know that.
    1 point
  36. Actually no it isn’t, the precedent for an assumed unchanged release is well established and has been for a long time. In comparison, the precedent for an assumed no mosaic release is really only been established and adhered to by MangaGamer, so the precedent is dubious at best. Additionally this expectation crosses mediums quite spectacularly, book publishers notify consumers on what has changed during a localisation, gaming companies notify consumers on what has changed during a localisation, movie studios similarly, this is the way things are done. The eroge fanbase has been spoilt by Mangagamer who pander quite spectacularly to them, but in no way is this the norm and in no way does this effect default consumer expectations in the industry. And why would it? The idea that you give information on every little thing is quite ridiculous to a company, they'd be at it all day, so the idea that a localisation is the same unless stated otherwise is useful to cut down on time. The idea that the rules have suddenly changed and that Sekai is culpable of deviousness is quite ridiculous - they are merely behaving like most other companies in the world. I would say the push for mosaics comes from a desire within certain aspects of the eroge fanbase to have unmosaiced VNs, and this desire drives them to seek out information, but I wouldn't say this desire establishes a precedent as to what information is expected to be presented every time to the entirety of the fanbase. And anyway if a piece of work has mosaics, then the company in question faces a backlash from this part of the eroge fanbase no matter what they do, so I would suggest this 'unrated' kerfuffle is a bit of a scapegoat, allowing a portion of the fanbase to vent their anger over pixellated penises. More on 'unrated' below. Your assertion that ‘everybody expects an uncensored release’ is a spectacularly dubious statement backed up by no evidence whatsoever. And even if they did expect an 'uncensored' release, what sort of 'uncensored' are we talking about? Because as I said, the term 'censored' usually applies to localisation companies adding additional censorship, not localisation companies keeping censorship which is already in place. If that were the case, very FEW works would ever be uncensored, because mosaicing out penises is only one of the many forms of censorship the original devs may have included during the making of the game. The writers, for example, may have strayed away or suppressed topics, dialogues, and description they felt would be uncomfortable for the section of the Japanese audience they were targeting, and if devs altering the images is a form of censorship, then devs modifying the text would also count. So now what are the options, get the devs to rewrite certain sections of the story to what it would have been had they been granted complete free reign? An absurd idea. And this is why the word 'censored' when used in conjunction with 'localisation' is often meant 'additional censorship applied by the localisation company.' I am going to be quite frank and say that during my lengthy discussions on ratings over the past decade or so, on anime forums and the like, the eroge fanbase is the only fanbase which seems to express confusion over the term 'unrated.' Saying the terms 'unrated' and 'uncensored' are confusing is like saying the words 'undone' and 'underdone' are confusing, they CAN be... if you don't know the language. And if Sekai are promoting their site to English speakers, then assuming their audience understands English is not an unreasonable assumption to make. It is NOT Sekai's job to hold your hand and guide you to enlightenment, they supply the information on the site, it's not hidden in an unused basement behind a sign which says 'beware: pitbulls ahead' so take some initiative and inform yourself before you make your purchase.

The only thing that didnt like was that you dont have the sense of "danger" you had in the first game. It was such a dark game that it was incredible. But aside from this, it was a great game.

  40. The zips are bins(each of which is part of a routes script) I send kardo after fixing the initial errors he located, for retesting. We repeat this until the bin is as perfect as we can get it, then move on to the next one. Benkei has 33 bins. There are 3 misc bins, 19 sayaka bins, and eventually 31 Azumi bins. Each needs initial testing, fixes, and later QC. Essentially, we are puush's worst nightmare. This is the folder I use for editing. I imagine kardo's is bigger, since I delete some stuff as I go(old zips).
