It's so interesting how Onodera is adored over in Japan but, at least on /r/nisekoi, most people absolutely hate her and any chapter centered around her. (and I don't blame them for that). Well, I'll always only have one true best girl in my heart, and that's Fuu-chan.2 points

Root Double is a 50 hours game, TL+ED will cost them 36k$ and it will be done by Lemnisca, they did good TLs previously, or so community say. [85 EGS]For the whole TLC/Re-TL/QC Muv-Luv wanted 57,5k$. It was supossed to be done by Ixrec/Alternative Projects and some other "experts" The length of ML/MLA is approx 80 hours [90 EGS]Libra on the other side will need 80k$ for translation, length of the game is approx 20 hours, forgive me if I'm wrong, saw only 2 reviews on EGS listing 12h and 15h. Translation is done by people inside. [70 EGS]TL;DR Root Double - 50 hours - 36,000$ - 85 EGS Rating ML/MLA - 80 hours - 57,500$ - 90 EGS Rating Libra - 20 hours - 80,000$ - 70 EGS Rating(Low amount of votes tho, might be not too accurate) Would also add Clannad/Grisaia etc. but I don't see a point... I still would like to play Libra and give it a chance, maybe if it'll be on sale on Steam for 20-25$ I'll consider buying it. Good Luck with the Kickstarter. Yowza! 20 hours?!?! Erogamespace is mistaken! Libra gameplay, the FULL uncut version, is 60 hours. The Steam version will be 15% shorter than that with the H-scenes removed. We have stated that that version will be around 50 hours. Also, could you please pass us a link where you saw this incorrect information on EGS or elsewhere. Thanks. UPDATE: We looked at EGS and found what we believe you were referencing for gameplay time. This just means that 2 people played the game for 11-15 hours. Maybe a player chose only one path and sped through the game like crazy, or another played Libra for 11-15 hours, quit, then decided to write a review. In any case, the full game is 60 hours. I suppose we could account for players with superhuman abilities. ;-) You mentioned that you've managed to cut costs a bit. What's the new initial funding goal? We'll be making the new, reduced (sodium) budget public next Thursday when we launch. ;-)2 points -

Like I said in the first few lines of this tutorial, there is no such thing as the perfect program, this is perfect for me that I like to read full screen (if i dont use full-screen I cannot get immerse in the novel) and probably other users but not for everyone, you can also use it as a compliment. It lacks in some way but the fullscreen feature and being able to fix the parsing(which is already really good) on the go plus adding names and translations yourself that's the biggest pro it has. It has its pro and cons like any other software.1 point

Sekai didn't use crowdfunding on G-senjou so that's a start I hope.... Oh, please, do not start this again! Already discussed that in G-Senjou thread. Sekai did NOTHING. All did AB2 and pondr with the_noob_avenger. This is perfect example how to make money without laying a finger (I am exaggerate, obv, but you got the idea - amount of involvement is nowhere near what does MG and Jast for their localizations). They would KS all other projects, as why not? This gives lot of free money, so why not? While MG struggles to get the things profitable with their 18+ Kara no Shoujo 2 releases - Sekai blatantly cut the game and push it on Steam - eat what you got served and praise Dovac the poor, who is living on the edge, struggling for every penny each day to deliver you VNs... Bueh. You sponsor the company, who does not care about authenticity, about giving uncut uncensored versions (which I always want to get when get VN release in the west), to give you full experience and even more.1 point

Root Double- Before Crime * After Days - Kickstarter launched!
Basileus777 reacted to Tyr for a topic
I have nothing against companies using Crowdfunding for specific means like maybe recovering from a financial flop and checking if people still have interest in their products, like Overdrive did with its Green Green Remake. But I don't like using Crowdfunding as a business model. I mean using Crowdfunding every time. It's wrong. It sends the message that this stuff is too niche to publish it normally (which is an insult to honest companies like MG trying their best to establish an honest business). It also leads to many censored all-ages version because porn is not accepted on Kickstarter. Finally, I don't think that this will last very long. This bubble will burst when people are finally tired of being exploited and realize that they don't support the English VN scene and instead are killing it. Hopefully. It's my business, because of stupid people backing butchered releases, I can't have nice things anymore.1 point -

Instead, they are giving licenses to Dovac Kickstarter for VNs are bad because it corrupts the idea of Crowdfunding. It's for Indies and Startups to finance their first ambitious project. NOT for established companies to support their every move! If you need to ask for money every fucking time you want to do something, your company is an epic fail economically. MG and JAST don't do this because they are not troll companies like Sekai Project is. That said, I can't blame Dovac for being a greedy businessman and choosing the option with the most profit. If I had no soul, pride or conscience, maybe I would do the same.1 point -

Nisekoi Discussion (Spoilers)
CeruleanGamer reacted to Nosebleed for a topic
For me, "trying one's hardest" is doing something in such a way that the other person notices you're doing it. Now I know Raku is denser than the densest material known to mankid, but look at Marika's approach for a minute (and this is why I favor her over other characters). From day one she confessed her feelings and made her intentions known. She tried to advnce their relationship in a way that clearly made Raku feel her presence, by taking him to dates when she could, giving him gifts, complimenting him directly, kissing him and just overall trying to be close to him, to the point where in that arc where they were stranded on an island he ended up being super conscious of her, so much so he had to come up with the conclusion to reject her feelings. No single other character (perhaps maybe Yui), has pushed Raku so far into doing something and being as conscious of someone as Marika did. Chitoge on the other hand has a super roundabout approach that just doesn't freaking work on Raku, and honestly I don't think would work for most people. How is someone supposed to guess she's "trying her hardest" in this chapter when all she's doing is dragging someone around to places she picked. And not only that, but that someone clearly is not enjoying the first few trips, so why insist on "trying your hardest" by using the same methods that already failed more than once? It'd be easier to switch your approach. And if you really want to keep trying your hardest, just tell him you want to cheer him up! It's soooo much easier from that point on, because he would be aware that you're doing that for him, but insted she just expects him, the densest man in existence, to figure it out of thin air. As for Onodera, I shouldn't even need to explain anything, she just doesn't do anything and is content with it to boost, characters that just go "I'm fine with things the way they are" or "Just being next side him is good enough" are my definition of garbage tier. Let's be 100% honest here, the only reason she's still in the game is because Raku likes her.1 point -
Nisekoi Discussion (Spoilers)
CeruleanGamer reacted to Nosebleed for a topic
I also love the Chitoge fans trying to excuse her actions in this chapter as if she's some saint. Apparently people should be excusing her because "she tried her hardest". Well, I'd love to know how you'd react if suddenly a girl is just trying to make you go through a bunch of crazy stuff you're not really in the mood for, and then expects you to really appreciate it. I mean, yeah I'm sure she had good intentions, but she's also pretty dense if she can't see Raku is having problems, and maybe the best course of action isn't to go on a freaking roller coaster. I long for the day where Nisekoi characters just have a chat like normal people about their issues instead of beating around the bush until every single leaf falls off.1 point -

Who plans on playing Kara No Shoujo 2?
Eclipsed reacted to Soulless Watcher for a topic
Oh, no I feel like I'm going into one of my famous sleep deprived rants.... well anyway, it really just comes down to me not liking Touka much. It has been awhile since I read Kara no Shoujo so I can't point to specific examples, but I just found her annoying. I suppose the way they forced her into episode 2's story-line in order to make it a "sequel" also contributed to my present rage. They could have very well titled this something completely different and kept everything the same and call the upcoming episode 3, episode 2, and I would have been happier. Although chances are episode 3 will be about another completely unrelated serial killing incident. . This is completely unrelated, but wtf was up with Reiji reporting to Chizuru about the Touka case? It's like he just wanted to make sure she felt bad for loving her brother more than Touka, which just seems like a waste of time.1 point -
Well, Chiitrans Lite is nice, but it's far from perfect. Also, it seems that it's not in development anymore and that probably means that it wont get any better anymore. The dictionary features are nice. It's fast and it's not as convoluted as TA when there are many different meanings possible. It's not an option for power users like us though. You only have one parser and I also didn't find a way to include other dictionaries. If you want to change the original text, you have to open an additional window which is a "normal" dialog window which might crash your fullscreen game. My conclusion is that Chiitrans Lite is perfect for people who know the language and need the parser only to look up a few words or for the furigana. Chiitrans Lite is especially useful for furigana readers because you can choose a reading for every word and Chiitrans will remember this the next time. That's a feature I miss in TA, because TA will always use the first reading as furigana and this is quite often not the right one, not even the most probable one. It's not good for people who want to learn the language though. I think looking at a greedy and a restrained parser at the same time is essential. I also like to have more than the default dictionary available. A quick edit of the original text is not possible.1 point

Clannad release imminent - You hyped?
Fred the Barber reacted to Toranth for a topic
I think part of your disappointment is that you aren't expecting what Clannad is about. See, Clannad isn't a straight up moe- or chara-game. It isn't about Fuuko, or Kyou, or any of the girls - it's about Tomoya, and it's about family. All the routes, both the girls' and the others, serve to illustrate certain family relationships - look for that as the plot, not the romantic relationship between Tomoya and girl-of-the-day. Once you recognize what the point of each route is, and how they all come together, you'll either get more enjoyment out of the story, or understand why you don't like it.1 point -

Coincidentally, I made a hooking tool for FMT games some months ago. I never released it though, because it is still buggy and does not hook every FMT game yet and I'm just too lazy to finish it, lol. But I think it should work with Fairytale games, Ballade of Maria too, If you want to play the FMT version, I can check if I remember this right and if it indeed works, send you a beta of my tool. It's really a matter of taste though. Some people like PC98's FM sound more than FMT's CD audio. Yup, I never found this one either. It's one of the most rare vn gems I know of, haha.1 point
-
Good choice! If you're interesting in reading more of those oldies, I recommend to check if there is also a FMT version available. Most of the time they have a superior soundtrack. In the case of Fairytale games like Ballade for Maria or Necronomicon, the arranged OSTs are breathtaking: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OY09wsXqV-w It's really a matter of taste, if one prefers the PC98 version or FMT version. FM/MIDI output on PC98 is also awesome. That said, you should probably install some additional sound drivers for your NPTH. I especially recommend VERMOUTH for MIDI output. It's SOOO much better. Orgasm for the ears. Especially with great OSTs like in Ballade for Maria. Most Fairytale VNs are actually located in the Western world, if I recall correctly...1 point

Kara no Shoujo: The Second Episode
Polycentric reacted to Eclipsed for a topic
Kara no Shoujo: The Second Episode Licensed by Mangagamer Summary "To become my true self... I'll become one with them." Prewar-era Japan. Deep in the snowy mountains of northwestern Japan there exists a settlement called Hitogata, the Village of Dolls. On the night of the festival honoring the clay idol Hinna-sama, a girl is murdered. The villagers all blame Hinna-sama's curse. One outside the faith has joined in the festival of Hinna-sama, and brought the painful death of the curse down upon themself. October, 1957. Two years have passed since Kuchiki Touko's abduction from her hospital room. Tokisaka Reiji's younger sister saves a man who had tried to commit suicide. He, too, is the most recent victim of "Hinna-sama's curse". Reiji begins his investigation, clinging desperately to the hope that Touko can be saved, and at the same time, a strange religious group said to have dissolved six years ago begins to move again to put a certain plan into motion... The curse will be carried out, whether by the gods or by human hands. Ending Guideline / Suggested Route Order Kara no Shoujo: The Second Episode is a linear story with eleven endings. There are no individual heroine routes. There are seven gameover endings, four endings, and one true end. You have access to all gameover ends, but only one ending on your first playthrough. The other three endings and true ending can only be accessed upon getting this ending and starting your second+ playthrough. You also need to get Bad End #2 "To Search for Toko" to get True and Obsession Ends. Route Guideline *Due to the mystery nature of this VN, it is strongly advised that you make your first playthrough without a walkthrough to avoid spoilers! You can do it! *Though, to avoid being locked into Bad End #3, you have to make sure you visit Yukiko at least 3 times during your Free Time before 1/9 First Playthrough I have included Save Points in the walkthrough for Memories of That Day below since all Bad Endings can branch from it. End (Ending 08) Memories of That Day Bad Ends (Endings 01 ~ 07) 1. Hinna-sama’s Curse 2. To Search for Toko... 3. The Holy Prophet 4. Disappearance 5. Yukio 6. Karen 7. The Two Yukaris Second Playthrough Must obtain Ending #08 "Memories of that Day" and start a new playthrough to get these following endings. Also must get Bad Ending #2 "To Search for Toko" to get True End and Obsession Ends There are extra dialogues and scenes scattered throughout the story this time, so pay attention if you are control skipping! There are H-scenes for Yukiko, Ayumu, Nanako, and Meguri. Ends (Endings 09 ~ 11) Normal End True End Obsession Attribution This Kara no Shoujo 2 (kns2) walkthrough is based on info attained from a source with some adjustments made by Eclipsed.1 point -

Clannad release imminent - You hyped?
Silvz reacted to Fred the Barber for a topic
Kyou's route was actually pretty long, as I recall, it's just that you see a lot of Ryou in it, for obvious reasons; maybe you're just viewing a bunch of the stuff that's part of the route as "common route" or something? At any rate, once the big romance conflict is resolved, telling other stories about the clean-up explanation afterwards would just drag out the ending and make it even less interesting. Kyou's is certainly the weakest of the full-length routes in Clannad, from what I can tell, but I at least don't think it's bad, per se. Calling it "garbage tier", asserting the writing is worse than some random nukige, and using some other hyperbole when calling out the route length, makes it seem like first you over-hyped for it, and now you're just dead set against enjoying it. You'll probably be happier if you just go read something else. Regarding Yukine's ending: I actually really enjoyed it. Certainly it was extremely short, and it was light on drama and CGs, but I was genuinely moved by the big monologue scene; that was enough for me. Currently reading Tomoyo's route... man it's long. I'm kind of hoping to get through this quickly and get to After Story, but I still have so much left to go of the first set of routes.1 point -

I'v only read Muv-Luv, and it has great action, some quantum mechanics and theories , and shit romance(if there is any to be considered at all). Fate seems like its also more action based compared to normal VN,maybe there is good romance? IDK, haven't read it yet, I'v only seen the anime,so I can;t tell. I don't know much about Umineko, from what I see on the vndb page, Im guessing it is more mind games and details, probably not as much action as the above two, it will probably be more deception and tricks compared to direct confrontation( since your all in one place, you can't really start some fight without drawing much attention). No idea if there is romance at all. So based on that, I will recommend Muv-Luv because it is the only one I have read so far, It has a lot of action, the story was interesting for me, but the ending sucked.1 point

Umineko is one of those rare instances where I don't mind the vn being a NVL style (bunch of text superimposed on the characters/whole screen and has more narration) just because the story is engaging. It's an 11 out of 10 in the story/plot and clearly blows Fate and Muv Luv out of the damn water. If you are more into the characters, then the later 2 might be better.1 point -

Baldr Sky is so good that it's worth learning Japanese for it. It's like Gundam combined with Armored Core and Muv Luv. It also has amazing gameplay to the point that you will wonder if this is a VN or an action RPG. Heck, you probably can just use a walkthrough and play it for its RPG aspects and still not get bored. Also one of its fandisc, DiveX is quite lengthy and also has decent side stories and has several cameo characters including Mayucchi from Majikoi, Murasama (Nitro+), and Shizuka from Scarlett. Started playing Undertale yesterday. I was ready to be underwhelmed and disappointed by the excessive hype it's been receiving. And... nope! It's incredibly good! The writing is great. It has a lot of charming characters, a good sense of humor, and some pretty strong emotional beats. The music is also fantastic and matches very well with the setting and the moods the writing generates. The art is... well, it's not the best but they made it work. The sprites aren't technical marvels but each one fits the personalities of the characters greatly and are pretty well designed. It amazes me how good this game literally made almost entirely by a single person is. And it warms the cockles of my heart to witness its slow but steady rise to popularity. Every day the game's old simultaneous players record on Steam is broken, and it has recently surpassed 100k sales. Good on Toby Fox. Unfortunately it is no longer the undisputed #1 rated PC game of all time on metacritic, instead it's just tied for first.1 point
