  1. Ok, I'm guessing that most of you who read the blog are wondering what November's VN of the Month is... there was a lot from November, and there was actually a lot I liked. Here are the posts for November's releases, organized by the VN in question. Unfortunately, I ran out of time this month because of work and the usual Christmas mess. Maggot Baits Yome Sagashi ga Hakadori sugite Yabai! Koko Kara Natsu no Innocence Magical Dears Kodomo no Asobi Hatsuru Koto Naki Mirai Yori I''m going to add a few comments onto this for those who wondered at how polarizing this VN is... because the people who liked this VN tended to love it, and those who disliked it hated it with unreasoning strength. Here are some reasons/excuses I've come across for hating it.. 1. Ria's path- The reason? There are two major reasons why people didn't like Ria or her path... one, lolicons hate her path because she has the absolute weakest path and character development in the VN and her path is basically an excuse to explain what was happening in one particular corner of the larger endgame battlefield. The others hate it because they hate zombies (in fact, I don't like zombies either) or hate zombies that are goofy in appearance/nature/actions. To be honest, it felt like they got the worst of both worlds with her, though her origin story was good (moe and zombie mixes are just weird). 2. To people who didn't really read the VN (only read the summary and maybe the trial and decided to rate it for that - and there were some of those) the protagonist is a stumbling block. He seems like the epitome of Japanese nationalism after all... until you get farther in and realize it is pretty much the reverse (he's the opposite of nationalist, lol). 3. The poor mixing of moe elements into an otherwise serious VN. I have to say, this VN would have been much better if the more insipid (as a certain commenter chose to put it, though referring to something else) moe elements - such as Ria - were altered to something a bit less... silly. Making Yukikaze have Michiru's mouth was one of the poorer decisions I saw from the artist community, even though she is a bit - ok, more than a bit - tsundere. It enhances that aspect and reminds people of why they hated Michiru from Grisaia. 4. It is by the team from Grisaia, and anti-hypers (people who automatically jump on and try to tear into anything that is hyped) will use that as an automatic excuse to hate on it, no matter how well-written it is. You know the type... the ones who automatically comment negatively on anything popular or anything by a group/band/writer/artist that is popular? Despite what the last commenter said, I don't consider that an A+ review... more like an A- or a B+. I rated it pretty highly on vndb because I found it enjoyable, but from a technical design (especially visual character design) point of view, there were some seriously questionable choices in there. However, from the relativistic point of view - you know, having played a ridiculous number of VNs - it does tend to float near the top layers of the waters of the VN fishbowl. VN of the Month 2015 announcement This is pretty much a straight run between Kodomo no Asobi, Koko kara Natsu no Innocence, and Hatsuru. Hatsuru I almost disqualified because it verged on matching my tastes... except it didn't (don't make me explain). In the end, from an objective perspective (inasmuch as it is possible to have such) I almost couldn't figure out a solid difference in quality between the three... but I eventually came to the conclusion that Koko kara Natsu no Innocence was the best candidate. Look forward to December's releases, sans Miagete. Edit: One last comment on Hatsuru's protagonist... when I say he is the opposite of a nationalist, I mean just that. He is a man who became a soldier because it was a path to getting in a pilot's seat and remained one for the sake of his comrades (both living and dead). He is also a man who is all too bitterly aware of the price of his country's excesses - and he doesn't know about nukes yet, lol - and has an immense sense of personal responsibility, which is one of the reasons I enjoyed being inside his head.

  3. Gahkthun was pretty damn amazing. Fist things first, I need to hype those who haven't yet realized its brilliance. The game looks amazing. Designs are sleek, and the CGs and characters designs are gorgeous, shining with vibrant colors. Writing is beautiful, meaningful and truly a joy to read, from mundane dialogue to poetic narration. The translation is top notch too. I was pleasantly surprised to see such charming classical English, and having to reach for English dictionary from time to time. The characters are great. Especially Tesla & Neon, but the members of the council and some other side characters are beautifully realized as well. The women of Gahkthun take the spotlight most of time, and for a good reason. Steampunk games host many of the best female characters I've seen and Gahkthun is not an exception. Trying to sum up them briefly or lump them together wouldn't do them any justice, so just take my word for it. The women of Gahkhun are truly impressive. Now, few meaningful words for those already familiar with Steampunk games, for those have read Gahkthun or for those filled with curiosity, dying to learn more. (This part doesn't contain spoilers) Now I'll just have to go through some literature references that caught my attention in Gahkthun, read the rest of the Steampunk games and become an even bigger fan.

No problem, man. A lot of the turmoils you're experiencing right now are similar to what I went through in high school. I had a real knack for studying, but I had to deal with a lot of discouragement growing up, and it wasn't until recently that I developed a sense of ambition. I wouldn't wish my experiences on you. You're a good person, and you deserve better in life. If the confessions thread was a galge, kenshin_sama would be best grill for sure

    Kon'nichiwa Everyone!

First of all, I have literally visited this forum like thousands of time throughout the year, but never ever thought to sign up in this forum. All I did was take and take from this forum. I got a lot of walkthrough's of visual novels in this forum. And believe me, so for this forum is the best organized, well made and well designed. (I am a web designer myself. I can tell.) I gathered lot of info's and got answers of many questions from this forum. But this time I thought, It's time for me to give something back. So I took the courage to sign up in this forum. I hope I can be a helpful to lot of others too. . Anyway, I am an otaku and read over 60 visual novels in my whole life. (Basically, I started to read vn's a year ago.). I have a huge collection with more than 250 Visual novels in my External Hard drive. I wish that one day, I will be able to finish reading them all. So basically that's it. I also watch a lot of hentai and read Eroge and Nukige heavely. I am a naughty boy, ain't I? Anyway, I noticed there are many Netorare/NTR fans out here. I personally like this genre. But there are not enough places to discuss about this genre or get recommendation. If anybody wants to discuss, share or ask anything about this NTR genre, I wish like you to join "The Netorare Group" on facebook. Visit: https://web.facebook.com/groups/TheNTRGroup to join. (If you don't like NTR/Netorare stay away. You have been warned.) Arigatou Everyone!

I am currently working on a YouTube video which will be posted on OriginalRen's Channel (click here) later during the week. Tell me what you guys think!

  8. Merry Christmas. I am not getting any holidays or money or even a hug. But they at least I got chocolates and a Rin pin. Now I have to think about how and when to return the presents....... Also If this makes Funya any better, I have numerous exams this week including englihs, physics and chemistry and they include all I have taken during the semester and guess what I am doing: Sleeping . I hate winters. If I found out anything, it's that thinking ahead by multiple steps is exhausting, don't do that. Think ahead by a few steps but don't go to whether or not you eould be successful , you might even end up as just a successive English teacher at a school or a professor at university. There are many opportunities that come to each person in life, you should make sure you don't miss it. Someone needs to make this, as I am pretty sure that I need it in my life. xD You need to make Kenshin_sama a grill in your life?

  9. Izuna Zanshinken is one of three pretty high-quality VNs made by Akatsuki Works Black during the period of a single year. I say 'high-quality', but it was more for the pleasure levels rather than literary value. Izuna Zanshinken and Yurikago yori Tenshi Made are both what I like to call 'perfect examples of chuunige crack' that are also readable by people who aren't translators or native Japanese. Of course, there are hard moments, but in comparison to the normal ruck of chuunige, they are relatively easy on the brain. The third VN is Hotel, a post-apocalyptic utsuge based in a post-war world where for some reason, all life is slowly dying out for no apparent overt reason. It is a story about how a small community of survivors live their best amidst the growing realization there is no salvation coming. It is a melancholic VN that had me crying repeatedly and hit me with a mild mindfuck revelation at the end, while at the same time ending on a highly emotional note. Izuna Zanshinken is the story of Musumi Kotarou, a young boy trained from birth for the sole purpose of being a 'kept' vigilante assassin. Kotarou's style integrates basically 'whatever works', though he prefers to use katana, claws, kunai, and his bare fists. Since his style is specialized for killing with no element of 'sports' to it, it is pretty brutal at times, lol. Mmm... to be blunt, this VN is drenched in blood. There is more raw violence and bloodshed in this VN than in any other I've ever played. I don't mean the kind of magical violence that you see in a lot of fantasy VNs, where people are wiped out without a trace... I mean people being cut down, strangled, stabbed, cut open, dismembered, etc. Both the CGs and the writing are kind of graphic at times, and for those not used to blood, this will probably put them off. However, because of the nature of the protagonist's work, there is always good reason why people have to be killed by him, at least... and his killing are generally pretty cathartic. The musical style of this VN is almost exclusively variations on classical Japanese music with Japanese or Chinese instruments. Everyday scenes will sometimes have more western additions, but even those will include at least some Japanese instrumentals. Indeed, in many ways they were basically reinventing the 'jidaigeki' style in a VN based in a modern era. Visually... think lots of blood? The style itself is pretty and there are a lot of CGs in this VN, not just H ones. Content-wise... other than blood, there is some rape (no heroine rape though). There are also other objectionable concepts introduced such as human slavery, cannibalism, and lolis with bone fetishes. Most of the VN is done in episodic fashion, with single incidents making up a single chapter. The paths are distinctive, with the 'introduction' or 'common' route helping you to get used to the atmosphere before you go into the heroine routes. In the heroine routes, romance generally isn't the focus, though it is an element. One of the more enjoyable things about the routes is how they shape things so the protagonist plays a different role with each heroine. With Suzuka, it is the protector, servant, and confidante, with Shinobu, it is the role of the mentor and partner, and with Hikaru it is the role of friend and eventually an ally. 'Choices' in this VN are actually mostly choices of what scenes you want to watch (except for a few bad-end/good-end choices at the end of each path). For instance, in one scene you might get one focused in a slice of the protagonist's daily life interacting with the heroines or people at school (though school doesn't play much of a role, overall). However, the other choice might be a Socratic-style lecture from a teacher, where the students debate recent events and issues, like the recent abolishing (fictional) of the death penalty and its effects on society (this issue is actually a central social theme of the VN as a whole), or a scene told from the viewpoint of a victim, an assailant, or an antagonist. Perhaps my biggest objection to this VN is that it was designed with a sequel in mind. You can tell because of the way the secret ending (accessed by filling in the rest of the flow chart) is done, leading you to think that matters are nowhere near their conclusion. Overall, this VN is one of those that I think everyone who can stand the sight of blood should read, just so they can have the experience. It isn't a kamige, but it is a highly cathartic, highly emotional trip down a bloodstained road inside the experiences of a vigilante assassin. Here is one of my favorite CG progressions, for those who want to have a idea of what it is like (spoilers)

  11. Confession time: I love hatsune miku; honestly... like, I don't know what it is, but I think its uber satisfying to watch and listen to her. The point of this thread is basically: I've been looking around online for some good high quality wallpapers / graphic pictures of miku in a few of her outfits, Infinity, Cherry blossom, "snow miku", white eve. But I haven't really been able to find anything. EDIT: Got a lot of cherry blossom, primarily need snow miku, white eve and infinity now. As long as it looks nice I don't mind if its fan art; as long as it is recognizable as her its fine. I've checked some sites though I haven't been able to find much. Probably just me being horrible at searching. Would be awesome if someone could help me out. EDIT 2: This is how her infinity and white eve costume / forms looks for reference. If you can find some good art of those outfits I will give you a hug!

  15. valve has the power to not let users download steam app, not use personal information (paypal only would be better), treat developers nicely ($100 for greenlight is wrong), and stop breaking international laws (fr and au government are suing valve). you only looking at the mask that valve has place in steam, if you look a little closer you see a monster. The fee for greenlight is as a method of avoiding a flood of spam or or infringing by putting someone else's work up. Sadly there is some degree of spam regardless but a 100$ one time fee is easily reasonable for a serious developer. The sues regarding resales are because it's an issue nobody has managed to solve yet without harmful DRM due to the differences between digital and physical media. Please do your research. greenlight doesnt work, people have reported to have gotten greenlight free from publishers (or so called publishers), also your research is wrong: fr version: face it valve is evil, they are a cash cow and you fools are buying it.

Joining the Gahkthun hyptrain Well, you definitely hyped me up Having finished Sharnoth recently I will admit that my main beef with it was the repetition and pacing of episodes; if Gahkthun improves on these as you say along with having more awesome women take the spotlight I will definitely be one miiighty happy camper

  17. Dont go crazy MiKandi Japan. It doesnt have to be big names like Anna Faith Carlson or Alodia Gosiengfiao (She's Filipino like me!), just cute girls who pull off striking resemblance with your characters. Although it would be amazing if you can get those two, since they are the two best cosplayers in the world and they blend so well with any characters they cosplay. Anna Faith would make a great Lycoris and Alodia would pull off Aoi like she just came out of the visual novel.

  27. Merry Christmas Kosaki-kun! I followed this guide with the updated patches provided in it and was able to skip the whole localization process for IMHHW's sex scenes. That would be my pick. Sunrider Academy is okay, but it utilizes the annoying "lose stats while you sleep" thing that I HATE, because science says sleeping is a good thing and makes you smarter, better looking, etc. If you're just looking for anime tiddie pictures you can set the skips in Sakura games to skip over all the wonderful story crap and just get to the tiddies. The other two I haven't read, though I think AKFTP is a yuri game, and if so there's girl-in-girl to be had. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=501001760 Merry Christmas bogdankl-kun! If My Heart Had Wings has a horribly butchered translation. I did not apply the patch to add back H-scenes. Despite both of those, I thoroughly enjoyed it and I highly recommend it. Moreover, (I swear I am seriously not trolling but simply stating my belief here) I honestly suspect it's a better game without the H content. Yes, it's censored. Yes, I care on principal, but in practice, for one specific game, I'll set aside my principals to play it; and I bet it's better this way, despite what happened to poor Ageha's route... As Tyrael pointed out, Fault: Milestone One is well spoken-of, affordable, and not censored/altered in any way. Though I haven't gotten around to playing it myself, so I can't speak for it myself... Sorry to hear you didn't like World End Economica... I'm actually a big fan of that series. For what it's worth, I find the characters much more compelling in Episode 2 vs. Episode 1, though the plot resolution in Episode 2 is much less satisfying vs. Episode 1 (I need Episode 3)

    Waifu WARS!

Here's what I've been thinking recently: Who else here thinks that "waifu" != "best girl"? I don't take the whole waifu thing too seriously, but I can occasionally allow myself to imagine being in a relationship with a VN heroine, and how it would or wouldn't work, compatibility-wise. I take the term "waifu" to be restricted to characters I feel I'd have decent compatibility with, and a "best girl" could be literally anyone, and a good few of my personal favorites would probably hate me with the intensity of a thousand suns in real life. But I wouldn't be surprised if it's just me massively overthinking everything as usual.
