What is the one trait that makes you instantly like a heroine?
Canicheslayer and 4 others reacted to CeruleanGamer for a topic
What do you guys think of Heterochromia-eyed heroines like Coconut from Nekopara, Satsuki Kagami from Violet Hill or Mayumi Thyme from Shuffle? I think it's a really wonderful trait. There's something about asymmetrical traits that turn me on.5 points -

Not sure if anyone else caught the update hehe (see image above). Pledges have been picking up again, spirits are high, and some backers are reaching into the hard-to-get-at places to spread the word about Libra. If there's any other places you might suggest or know of, please let us know. We've been trying hard (you should see our contacts list), but some places just don't respond. For our New Year Celebration, starting December 30th (N. America Time) we'll be adding a new reward/tier each day until January 1st. Some of these rewards will be super limited, by the way. o.O Please keep an eye out on our updates page for these announcements. @Cerulean That cosplay is pretty insane. She looks even better than the character (imho). Woah! See everyone very soon! <3 PS: Does anyone ever see the Easter Eggs I leave in our banners?2 points -

Seeking Advice for a Con Panel on VNs

I'm going to start throwing random thoughts and ideas your way. Ready? Catch! Tell them how to switch to Jappanese Local on the computer. Tell them take a look at kickstarter at least monthly for visual novel projects that might interest them. Also remind them that kickstarter is not a store, it's just a place to give support for projects. Remind them that Steam reviews aren't always the most reliable. Encourage them to ask people from a VN community about games. Well that's all I can think of right now. I'll throw some more if they come up.2 points -

For Love of VNs: For Beginners
nekofuwafuwa reacted to Clephas for a topic
This is a list of good games to begin your journey into playing VNs in Japanese. Inevitably, most of these games will be moege, charage, or nakige. There is little to be done about this, as chuuni, sci-fi, and fantasy-action VNs have linguistic barriers that will be too much for someone still struggling with reading conversational Japanese. In particular, the biggest barrier for someone who is used to dealing with Japanese that is 'spoken', rather than 'written' is the existence of literary Japanese. The turns of phrase, different wording, etc. that an inexperienced reader might run into can either be seen as a learning experience or as pure confusion, depending on your level and state of mind. As such, I am only putting down games that are readable for someone who understands spoken Japanese but is weaker in literary Japanese. I will also put a 'second level' for those who are interested in challenging themselves a little but not too much. This one will be for those who are willing to see if they can handle the easier action scenes, more difficult event descriptions, and the like. First Level: Maji Suki Marginal Skip Suzunone Seven Kamikaze Explorer Tsuisou no Augment (this game is hilarious, and it is not a moege. I recommend this to people who liked the atmosphere of Yume Miru Kusuri) Akabanzu - Real na Sekai de Boku ga Kimi ni Dekiru Koto (this game has only minor scientific terms and jargon, mostly related to AI and MMO's. Since it is distinctly possible you ran into these terms just watching anime, I went ahead and put this up.) Chuning Lover (this game is just generally rofl) Ichiban Janakya Dame Desu Ka (one of the few almost-pure comedy in my personal lineup) Otomimi Infinity Sakura Iro Quartet (this and the game above are for mimikko fetishists) Ryuusei Kiseki (sci-fi moege, fairly easy. Hardest parts are when the protag begins preaching about his hobby) Shiawase Kazoku-bu Sukimazakura to Uso no Machi (surrealist fantasy moege... mildly funny, interesting in general) Toppara - Zashikiwarashi no Hanashi (use this as your crash course in youkai) 12/30/2014 edit Love Revenge Real Imouto ga Iru Ooizumi-kun no Baai 08/15/2016 Edit Sakigake Generation Minamijuujisei Renka Primal Hearts Primal Hearts 2 World Election Koko Kara Natsu no Innocence Second Level: Irotoridori no Sekai (yeah, it is being translated, but it isn't done yet) Konata yori Kanata Made (relatively low-difficulty action/event scenes, as well as being an excellent entry point into the utsuge genre) Tiny Dungeon series (relatively normal conversational and event scenes, and the actions scenes are relatively low-difficulty, if somewhat fast-paced) Draculius (similar to above in the action) Haruka ni Aogi, Uruwashi no (this game is probably one of the top three non-action/sci-fi/fantasy games I've played and it is harder than the games on the first level... but in exchange it is also a lot better, lol) Hyper→Highspeed→Genius (relatively high difficulty to first level, but it is easier than the games I'd prefer to introduce people to, lol) Koisuru Otome to Shugo no Tate - The Code Name is "Shield 9" (fanboys of fantranslations know this as one of the many dead projects) Ore no Tsure wa Hitodenashi Kaminoyu (this one and the one above are your source for non-human love in this stage, lol) Otome ga Tsumugu, Koi no Canvas (higher difficulty than first level primarily due to the art terms) Aete Mushisuru, Kimi to no Mirai Akatsuki no Goei (first one only, later ones are too hard for Second Level) Re: birth Colony Lost Azurite (this, Tiny Dungeon, and Draculius are probably the hardest games on this list) Fake Azure Arcology (direct link to the game above, and ditto) Kimi to Boku to Eden no Ringo Koiiro Soramoyou (famous for certain VN fanboys) Kimi to Boku to no Kishi no HIbi (recent release, fairly easy, good protag) Lunaris Filia (a vampire charage, for those who want some of that) Naka no Hito nado Inai!! Tokyo Hero Project Dracu-riot Sakura Tale Tojita Sekai no Tori Colony (this game is pretty hilarious, especially if you insist on seeing all of the loop ends before getting to the true end) Tsuki ni Yorisou, Otome no Sahou (similar to Koi no Canvas, in that the terms that will give you the most trouble are the technical ones - this time for sewing and clothing design) 12/30/2014 edit Zannen na Oretachi no Seishun Jijou Kimi no Tonari de Koishiteiru Sekai wo Sukuu Dake no Kantan na Shigoto Nanairo Reincarnation (borderline within this if you are familiar with the base concepts of youkai and ghosts as understood by the Japanese) Sakigake Generation Edit: This will be the last in my series of lists. I will edit them with additions occasionally, but I won't be making any new ones. Have fun yall.1 point -

First of all, I have literally visited this forum like thousands of time throughout the year, but never ever thought to sign up in this forum. All I did was take and take from this forum. I got a lot of walkthrough's of visual novels in this forum. And believe me, so for this forum is the best organized, well made and well designed. (I am a web designer myself. I can tell.) I gathered lot of info's and got answers of many questions from this forum. But this time I thought, It's time for me to give something back. So I took the courage to sign up in this forum. I hope I can be a helpful to lot of others too. . Anyway, I am an otaku and read over 60 visual novels in my whole life. (Basically, I started to read vn's a year ago.). I have a huge collection with more than 250 Visual novels in my External Hard drive. I wish that one day, I will be able to finish reading them all. So basically that's it. I also watch a lot of hentai and read Eroge and Nukige heavely. I am a naughty boy, ain't I? Anyway, I noticed there are many Netorare/NTR fans out here. I personally like this genre. But there are not enough places to discuss about this genre or get recommendation. If anybody wants to discuss, share or ask anything about this NTR genre, I wish like you to join "The Netorare Group" on facebook. Visit: https://web.facebook.com/groups/TheNTRGroup to join. (If you don't like NTR/Netorare stay away. You have been warned.) Arigatou Everyone!1 point

What's your favorite ways to call big brother
Kawasumi reacted to CeruleanGamer for a topic
It's not fucked up, no child ever is. Babies happen because of people loving each other, unless it's rape of course. I am not telling you to change what you believe in but I'm only clearing assumptions of the ignorant folks who think incest guarantees mentally retarded babies. There are thousands of kids who are absolutely fine from incestuous relationships. If you and your brother/sister are the only people left on Earth, would you still follow these stupid incest laws and let humanity perish forever? The hate towards incest is a culturally/politically/religiously manufactured idea. Back in the old days, incest was actually a huge thing because they believed in securing "pure" bloodlines. Oh even though I'm agnostic, I am pretty sure incest is all over the Bible, from Adam and Eve's children to Abraham's and even after Noah's after the flood calamity. So yup, you can't really erase the existence of incest because historically or religiously, it's already filled with it. Plus, if you go back far enough, you might be surprised your ancestors/great-great-great-great-great-great grandparents are the products of incests.1 point -

After watching hentai resort boin, i googled it and found it on VNDB, i wondered what vndb is, so i digged a bit and then came up to visual novel and googled it too. Then i was looking for some VN's online... i didn t really know what was it so i wasn t about to pay for something that i never heard about. So i found a short visual novel on some site... its name is My sexy anthro. Ofc, i googled what is anthro when i saw it, but they even explain it in the novel is it was useless. Anyway i played it, got interested, looked for more, found episode 2, found out that there s no episode 3 so i was sad and looked for other novels... That was my road to VN stuff. Was good fapping material, though. Lol.1 point

Sure. I love the Ultimate Ninja Storm games! I only have 8 or so hours into Revolution, since no one was really playing with me, but I played a ton of Full Burst on PC. I'm going to pre-order Storm 4 once I have the monies... Heard the netcode is 50/50 which has me sad faced. How well does Revolution run online? I rarely experienced much trouble, though I only played with two or so specific people. It doesn't have netcode like P4 arena or anything, but it's still decent. You live in Cally right? If that is the case I don't expect much trouble then. Nah, I live in Indiana kek. But regardless, it shouldn't be a problem. And you could always just refund the game if it's too bad. Guess I could. Do refunds go to your steam wallet or back to your card? You can choose to either have them go to your Steam wallet or to be refunded by whatever method you used to pay it with. Though keep in mind that you can only refund it if you have less than two hours of play time, and if it's within 14 days of purchase. Coolio. In the event that I do purchase it I will hit you up asap and see how the online is.1 point

Have been a fan of Key ever since watching Clannad. Although Jun Maeda's involvement wasn't much, Rewrite is my favourite. Each heroine route are somewhat sad or tragic creates deeper impact than many VNs I've read, especially Kotori's route which makes you curious about the other routes. As always good music at right timing changes the mood. Fun and jokes from Keys' works makes me laugh quite often. I had a month plus school break when I read it, lots of time.1 point -

Quickly going to go through most VN reviewers I know:- https://www.youtube.com/user/Ashadow700 More or less the "founding father" of VN video reviews. His Rewrite review is my personal favourite. https://www.youtube.com/user/mattroks101 Matt's is a pretty funny dude, although most of the VNs he reviews are Western, hence bad. He also does some other stuff on his channel. His KS review is definitely a must watch. https://www.youtube.com/user/Belmakor19 While simple, Bel's videos are plentiful. Between him and Ash, you should find a review for most of the popular VNs out there. His LB! review is probably my fav https://www.youtube.com/user/pokestory1/ This is Rockmandash's channel, who has also reviewed a couple of VNs the others haven't touched. I like his "VNs on the go!" video the most c: Those are the main four, here are some honorable mentions:- https://www.youtube.com/user/Aaox00/ While he has technically only reviewed 2 VNs, Aaox's reviews are superb. You definitely don't want to miss out on those two https://www.youtube.com/user/thespazgaming Spaz has also only reviewed two titles, but they're still worth watching, and he's still the only one who's reviewed SnU out of the rest... And those are all the ones I know. I may have missed a few, but I doubt so, it's not exactly a popular field As for editing, well I personally like Magix because of it's ease and simplicity, but you can use anything really. Although you're talking about "recording" yourself playing, which isn't the same as editing. You can look up any screen capturing software, although I'm personally not very familiar with them And finally, you should review whatever you want to review the most. Don't review a VN just because it's popular, but because it was so amazingly awesome/awful that you have to talk about it. Or at least that's what I think. I hope I answered your questions, and gl with your channel1 point

In my opinion, Rewrite is a top-10 VN out of those that have been translated. The gameplay elements are mediocre, but the plot, characters, and fun "mysterious animal" mini-stories are well worth the time. The production values are also very high, beyond the level of most other KEY VNs, mainly because it is newer and more polished than the ones they are more famous for (Clannad, Kanon, Air, etc.). It also has a more of a modern anime art style than the classic KEY style, which is a plus to me.1 point -

If you read first one - THAT one is what you call "coincidence train". Killer always take the girls right from the dinner table, even when he knows the detective is there and no one could find him (obv, it is so hard to understand, I get who is the killer first time he appeared), while killer himself take girls just by mere coincidence (of course). And we would not forget the shit which hitted the fan in the last part of the game - everyone is connected to everyone, absence of blood (wtf, Bombay blood type??? 0,0004 % of WHOLE WORLD popularity have this type! coincidence? in post-war small Japan?? yeah, very believeable. also what about truck? and insanity of everyone (actually, all the cast have mental illness in one or another form, that's just plainly idiotic)). So, really. KnS2 is a huge step forward, if you compare it with first. Author started to develop less ridiculous scenes and more believeable detective story.1 point
