Hi and good day to you, fuwans. I need a recommendation on VNs that ends with a horrifying death scene and/or contain a lot of tragedic death scenes. Something like School Days's bad end (the notorious graphic violence scene) or VNs that contains the atmosphere of Saya no Uta. What I've known so far is KnS, Divi-Dead and SubaHibi (according to VNDB, contains madness and Denpa). So, are there any other VNs that contains these scenes? Preferably, I would like a translated one but an untranslated one is also accepted. I can just use VNR for the untranslated ones. So just spam in anything that comes into your mind. And the reason why I like VNs with death scenes? Because they're kinda depressing to look at and I like some of the death scenes due to......personal reasons. N-no, I'm not a sadist or masochist or anything. (No suspicion there)

I find this statement in itself to be a spoiler to the game. Might wanna put that in a spoiler tag. Also, Euphoria has a lot of messed up deaths in the bad endings, and its mind bending and depressing as all hell. (It's good though.)

Also, do you have BlazBlue: CPE on PS3/4? Personally going to be buying that since it is on a massive sale, I have heard bad things about it but I don't mind all to much, GG isn't really for me. Nothing against the gameplay but the red aesthetic turns me off ;__; Super stupid reason, I know (and it's not on sale). Probably going to get it on PS4 since there is a higher chance my irl friends will get it on PS4 as well. Just not sure which scene is more active if that even matters. I think you managed to find me since I think I followed you today? LOL. I have CP, but not CPE. I don't actually really play BB, just Xrd Ultimax and UNIEL. Plus if I wanted to play BB, there's a Central Fiction arcade cab at an arcade down here everyone goes to. As far as I know, it's the only BBCF cabinet in North America so everyone flocks to it. I think most of the NorCal anime players are around San Jose? I went to Fanime last year and there were a TON of good players that I got to hang out with. Maybe look into Caliburst and NorCal Dogfight and see if either is near your area. I think those are the regular Monthly NorCal events. Yeah, that was me. Finally got Chie's JBB > 2A > 2B > C > 236A > 236A > 236C down. While I am not 100% consistent by any means I know the inputs my heart, and my timing is almost there, I can do it about 7/10 times, so not bad. Working on JBB > C > 236A > 236A > 236236D now. It doesn't have as many inputs as the first combo I learned but does about 25%, though it does use meter. The first combo did roughly 20%, IIRC, with out meter. Also, I forgot, what's the difference between shadow and normal? Shadow characters are more offensively focused. They don't have a burst, or the awakening mechanic, but once they get 100 meter they can active Shadow Frenzy, which gives them infinite meter for a short time and lets them cancel special moves into other special moves. They also have a little bit more health and do a little bit less damage, but gain meter very quickly. Because most characters can just burst the shadow frenzy combos in 1.1, the only "viable" shadow characters are the ones who's frenzy combos are naturally unburstable, like S. Chie, S. Mitsuru, and S.Naoto. Besides those three you don't see shadows played too often? Shadow Narukami is okay, but the lack of a burst makes them really unstable to play. In 2.0 they're getting totally revamped. In that version they'll have a burst, and activating shadow frenzy uses your burst instead of 100 meter.

A Universal Issue Tentacle sex and rape are the two big downers to this series. For a series with such good writing, it is amazing how quickly it becomes repetitive once h-scenes get into the picture. On the bright side, corrupting the heroines in Empire, Frontier, and Hypno almost always has immensely hilarious results after the mindbreak. It is kind of irritating that you pretty much have to mindbreak them to get the really good strategic skills, though. Abyss To be honest, this is the game in the series I liked the least. First, it is the first one that introduces the tentacle impregnation=new troops system that was the recruitment system for this and Gaia. Second, it has the weakest set of heroines and protagonist in the entire series. Third - and last - it uses a dungeon-defense gameplay model, which I despise. To be honest, the Law route of this game is incredibly boring, story-wise, with a huge amount of cliched jrpg knock-off plot twists. While this isn't unexpected, the main heroine's personality is the worst part of it... her idealism wears on you after a while, and both the protagonist and the antagonist are both weak enough not to be able to make up for it. The Chaos route suffers from 'we just stuck an evil route on it for mad science self-indulgence' syndrome, and the ending is, if anything, even more pathetic than the Law ending (think a bad ending in a chuunige with the positions reversed). While the story is actually mildly enjoyable while it is going on, the aftermath is singularly disappointing and dissatisfying. Frontier I'll just come out and say it... this would have been the perfect story if the main antagonist wasn't such a straight-out 'Me Dark Lord, Destroy world because me bored!' Kefka knock-off. Oh, the details are mildly interesting, but the last chapter is almost unforgivable. If it wasn't for the overwhelmingly good cast on the protagonist's side of things, as well as the game's excellent story as a whole (if you cut out the ending sections) this would probably be an eminently forgettable game. The protagonist's motivations, his background, and his abilities as a general and a warrior make him a really attractive main character, and the fact that he isn't just a mass of endless ambition and sadism (unlike many VNs along the same lines) is a huge attraction for this game. The actual gameplay is somewhat improved from Empire (the previous strategy-conquest game in the series) but the game balance is kind of broken at points (think sharp spikes in difficulty, especially at the beginning and end). Gaia ... you almost have to be impressed about how completely they integrated the monster-birth recruitment system into this game. It isn't nearly as annoying as it was in Abyss, where it made the actual process of recruitment a matter of extreme annoyance (especially if you wanted to constantly alter the makeup of your forces). However, you do spend an inordinate amount of time staring at the little calendar part of the UI and checking to see how it will effect the power of the units you intend to birth. Again, like all the previous games in this series, it suffers from a lack of a good antagonist. There is nothing really sympathetic about the final antagonist (too faceless). The actual base story is much, much more interesting than Abyss... and the main heroine of the Law route is undeniably adorable, as well. lol (out of character for this company is that there are no h-scenes for this heroine, hahaha) They also added a dungeon-raid event battle system where you send your troops through an enemy's dungeon, in addition to the dungeon-defense and construction that makes up ninety percent of the game. This is a definite improvement, and the actual dungeon-construction and defense is a lot more refined (though I still thought it was inferior to Demonion's). Hypno This is undeniably the best game in the entire series, from all angles but one - heroine development. Individual heroine development - usually done through a combination of sex events and conversational events - is a lot less deep than it was in the previous games (yes, it is somewhat weird to say that there is character development when it comes to mindbreak and tentacle-H, but it happens to be true). It also departs from the previous games' style in that you pick your path early on and have to stick to it (basically, you either decide to break Sylvia or become her friend by either continuing with the sex-training or picking her regular conversational events after the required initial scene). This is perhaps the only game in the series where I actually found the chaos route worth playing, though the ending was perhaps less interesting than the actual antagonist and the process of going through the route. The Law route feels very much like a route to redemption from the hell his life has been for Leon and the world in general. However, as anyone who plays this game from the beginning will notice, the true flower of this game's story is the relationship between Leon and Anora. The mutual interdependence, absolute trust, and unstinting love they give one another from the very beginning is touching, even though Anora is pretty much a neutral evil character and Leon a true neutral one, lol. The Law route antagonist, as per the course in all the other games by this company, is a bit of a yawner, though the actual fight against him is pretty good. In terms of the gameplay... it is undeniably improved far and above all the previous games in the series. Being able to invest resources in increasing your income of the four resources (food, ether, magical energy, and coin) as well as war (experience gained every turn automatically by all recruits) and medical (automatic healing on every turn) allows you to do something other than conquer to build up your base of power. The conquest itself is done in stage format rather than in continental conquest format, which has its downsides in terms of gameplay flexibility but has the advantage of not kidding you about how much freedom you have (both Empire and Frontier basically did the same thing but gave you the illusion you were freely conquering the world). The actual recruitment system, which has been evolving since Empire, reaches its peak in this one, where character customization is the most advanced so far, without the unnecessary complications of heroine impregnation in Gaia. Overall Overall, as a series... it makes you hate tentacles after a while, if you didn't already. It also makes some great protagonists (Empire, Frontier, and Hypno in particular). It also has very flat antagonists and gameplay that tends to be somewhat disappointing. Nonetheless, if you can slog through the H scenes (or just ignore them) Hypno - at the very least - is worth trying. Unfortunately, this series will destroy anyone who hates rape or tentacle sex, so I can't recommend it for the uninitiated... or for those who prefer soft H. To be honest, I started turning off my emotions after the first tentacles appeared and if it weren't for the fact that the moment the heroines' broke in Hypno was so deliciously evil, I probably wouldn't have bothered to read any of them. I'll never replay any of the games in this series, but I'll probably at least try the new ones in the series, if only out of curiosity to see whether they've improved the storytelling to fit my standards completely.

What flags do we need to trigger to get the bonus backstory content? I kind of get this. I've had three uncles pass away this year, but because I rarely saw them, while I was really sad, I didn't cry at all. And yet some of the bad ends in visual novels I read managed to jerk tears out of me...

Why that Kylo Ren had the mask, anyway? I did not get it. Also his nose... And rabbit ears... Who had such a nose and ear? Han or Leia? Seems no one had. And yes, story is too much similar to Episode IV. It was in 1977 and was better. The worst is the actors here. The only one main character who really acted was guess who? Harrison Ford. What the hell, man. Why grand-dad have to bring whole film on his shoulders, what the rest of the cast were doing? Rei is the new Luke? Really? With same dumbface she had whole film. Same for that stormtrooper. Only other guy I enjoyed watching was the Death Star commander or whoever he was, that stubborn red-haired guy. This one could act, especially comparing to that emokid Vader replacement.

@Flutterz guess what arrived today as my package (at 10:30 AM even).

So after five months of stalling the novel (in which I've been stuck on Chapter 7 until I opened the game again last December 11), I finally finished the whole thing. Granted that it was another Liarsoft title, after finishing Forest and Shikkoku no Sharnoth in the past, I went into reading this with high expectations. Sadly, since theater life pretty much consumed what should have been my 'free time', I had to stall reading this. Now that I've finished the visual novel, I can now say that it did not betray my expectations. It was great. Time to type in my thoughts about the visual novel. Before reading the web novels: After reading the web novels: Everything about Chapter 11 became even more painful. The dream sequence got me struggling, and the segment where Porshion talked to her in the Seventh Tier just killed me. The whole epilogue focused on Ati's quest to regain what she lost in the past ten years because of the 'right hand of evil', and her searching for the Traveling Doctor was just really painful to read. Painful in the sense that a lot of emotions were being triggered in her search. The most intriguing part of the segment was really M. Why was M there? How could M see Ati's golden eye even if it wasn't evident in their first meeting? I would say that he could sense it since it was always there, but that's just my take on it. Besides, he's not necessarily human anyway. This part of the webnovel gave a sort of closure to Ati's case, making her remember the person that was most important to her. It ended at Ati finally stating the name of the person she had been looking for, Gii. God, it was nice. I can't really put it into words properly, but it was really nice. Miscellaneous Thoughts: I became even more interested in the world where these visual novels are set in, so I guess I'll read Gahkthun soon enough. I just hope the others are translated as well. But that probably won't happen anytime soon, so I'm better off reading Japanese. Whelp, till then. Yes, I necro'd the thread. I told you guys I'd revive it in the future. I hope that's enough to make up for me being too lazy to finish this earlier. Now, on to Swan Song.

SO. @Mugi in regards to Adachi: and @LiquidShu for Chie: If you guys aren't using dustloop, make sure to give your characters' pages a look through. (Especially their move list!) The info isn't as up-to-date as I'd like, but it's a great place to start out. To be honest, I'm sort of a Kanji character specialist so he's the only character that I've written a full tutorial for, but I've dabbled with other characters and even won some local tournaments with a scrubby Narukami. If you're looking for a strong, easy to learn character Narukami is amazing. We were all on this spaceship or something and I decided we should have a party for some reason, I don't remember much, but I think we were fighting some kind of threat. Not sure if this has been done before but you the protag, are an 80 year old man and your wife has died. You get sent to an old folks home or maybe an neighbourhood for old people waiting for their time to come. There you meet with 4 other senior citizens. One if them has azeimers disease, the other is a crazy cat lady(because why not), the third is a bed ridden grandmother who has been hit by stroke, the final heroine is an old lady who refuses to act her age. Your goal? Find a way to escape the old folks home and get revenge on your children for sending you there. What were you thinking? Find love as an old man to replace your wife?

The male protagonist fails to have sex with all five girls he encounters. In the end, he buys a hooker and only shoots a normal size amount of semen instead of the buckets most protagonists do. Then dies of herpes.
