Conjueror's Untranslated Visual Novel Tournament [Discussion]

Even the nukige part is actually foreshadowing for some quite interesting concepts of mammal nature. It's perhaps the second most intelligent visual novel I've read, after Subarashiki Hibi... but it has a few problems with how the plot is structured -- almost half of the game is pure exposition (although it's fucking awesome exposition). If you're into anime, it's a lot like Shinsekai yori. You haven't lost much since the writer ends up writing himself into the corner with his whole mystery thing, and comes up with a very convoluted explanation for everything that doesn't even make much sense when you really think about it (not to mention 0 foreshadowing). Anyway, I hate that writer, I wish FAVORITE would just stick with the Hoshizora guy instead; he at least knows what he's doing. This, basically. It's really fascinating how English VN scene can be so different from JP sometimes. For example, Tsuyokiss would've won the yesterday's poll by a landslide if it was done in egs or 2chan. In any case, I picked all the most well-regarded titles in Japan that have no translation yet, and I'm very interested to see how the west interprets them.3 points -
Importing obscene goods is illegal in most countries. However, if your customs are pretty lax and the box cover doesn't have any porn on it, you should be fine. If the box has porn on it, it's safer if the product is sealed with something non transparent. BUT KEY H SCENES ARE SHIT WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS TO YOURSELF3 points

In my experience with fictional murderers, the killer is always the one of the first to try and blame others for the murders in a classic misdirectional manner. The only people in this thread who do this are Valmore and Kyrt. Kyrt went the extra mile to finger someone, PLUS his avatar wears a stupid looking hat. Fictional murderers are often stupid in some manner, a classic giveaway. Batman’s avatar is wearing a stupid hat also, but he never tried to guide people away from himself. Thus, the answer must be Kyrt. Hooray, and I didn’t even have to go on that scavenger hunt. I am a bonafide detective, I should seriously become a copper IRL. Do I get a prize, now?3 points -

The whole can't be physical copy because the VN is too big is complete bullshit. They could easily spit the game into two discs (or whatever it is the vita uses) like they used to do for games in the past. This kickstarter has been one mistake after the other and honestly I've yet to back it because of it. Every time I get a slight inclination to maybe back at the 30 dollar tier they do something else to make me think this is just a mess. The fact they plan to get it out by March (unless I misread and they meant next year) means that it's quite obvious that the game is already complete or close to completion as far as translation goes. I am not quite sure why they are bothering with a kickstarter they could of sold the game normally and likely would have made over their goal by simply doing it that way. Sekai Project simply needs to learn to not announce a game as releasing with the "If the Kickstarter is successful". Japanese companies are trying to take advantage of Kickstarter. I backed the Libra Project primarily because of the fact it was a new game and by a studio trying to push into the market...they also had an extremely successful kickstarter both in tiers, feedback, reaching out to the community, etc... This has been the complete opposite. I would love to play Root Double but I am not going to be kickstarting it. If it makes Kickstarter then I'll pick the game up for 30 to 40 dollars upon successful release on PC. I have a theory that if (big if) the game has already had so much work done for it that they won't simply ignore trying to make back some of those funds and we'll see the game again with either a better kickstarter or as a normal release...that's assuming they've put any work into it. The only difference is they might release the game without voices to try and recuperate expected loss.2 points

the only way I could change my mind about this novel is if you turn it into another one, changing the characters, the settings, the plot itself, specially the writing2 points

I like Chie's route, because the climax of the script is just two people talking on a couch and it's somehow just a great sequence. My favorite scene from the entire VN, if I had to choose.2 points

Why no one loves Evolimit? Sakura no Uta just had lot of hype by me. But by me Clannad and most stories from Key are overrated as well, so... Anyway, vote for Evolimit. Much better choice than that Kururu imo.2 points -

Some of these writers seriously needs to get their heads checked. I had the same thought about Canvas 2. You bang Tomoko on her hospital bed when she's recovering from an attack from a heart disease where an elevated heart rate can kill her, or something along those lines. Truly fucking stupid placement for a h scene.2 points -

Ok, still playing majikoi. Finished Wanko's route now, (the first route I played) Oh man it was beautiful. I cried like a little girl. This one is definitely going on my "favorite heroine route" list. Not 100% sure on which one I'm doing next. Kind of torn between Momoyo and Yukie. Gonna take a break and wipe away my tears and decide.2 points -

There naturally isn't much of an audience for this due to the nature of the grind, a shame since it would've been fun to have several people reach the end and then debate in true Danganronpa style who the culprit is; some of Ren's answers surprised even me and would be perfectly reasonable given the context of the clue given at the very end. That didn't answer your question. NO! I mean huh, how's about givin' me dem Likes first, then we'll talk2 points -

It's not everyday you can make a cute game where one of the main heroines is hitler. I remember seeing this quite some time ago somewhere and found it pretty funny, hopefully it's released soon. As someone who's parents and grandparents lived under a dictatorship when they were young, I feel like I'm probably going to hell for enjoying this, but it's totally worth it.2 points -
^Enticing, isn't it? I play Ikinari Anata ni Koishiteiru. What a rollercoaster it is. I might end up writing full review of this, because that strange title it is. So. I really sympathize with protag, who is just abused by girls around him. I feel genuinely sorry for him, and if VN is making me feel actual emotions for characters (instead of, f.e. anger on writers for stupid plot), then it's really meaning something. Common route was at points baffling, sometimes cringing, and on one sequence was really positively scary and creepy (school ghost interogations). (I can't wait for Subahibi, cause it was the same guy who wrote that and common route in Ikinari ^^). But it wasn't really good. It was fine. 6/10 Then I went on Tsumugu route. It was just shit. Badly written, horrible structure, very short and boring. 2.3/10 After this I started Ryou route. It started painfully. I was really negatively attituded to Ikinari at this point, so I took every scene with bad anticipation, but... It slowly redeemed itself. It even had a h-scenes which was further developing characters, and have a reall meaning to further relations! How often is that?! I happily gave it 6/10. And now, Tane route. OH. MY. GOD. Reall people. Reall characters. Story. Developments. Great writing. Emotions. I even nearly cried. Twice! First when and second time during buildup for a first sex scene. So much great, trully lovely emotions in here. I haven't got a teary eye (not in sad kind of way) during VN since first confession I read in Majikoi - with Miyako. And that's not all! It is really great peek to a minds of adolescent first lovers. Their behaviour, their thoughts, they feel real! I was the same (when I was 13, not 16-17 like them, but still)! And what really stealed my heart was this Chouji(protag) thoughts: First he scolded himself for having 'lewd' thoughts on his newly girlfriended girlfriend. I was cringed. Then he said that he must stop his urges, he must treat Tane as his little sister. (I was cringed and baffled - cancer basically). And on top of this, he said to himself, that he must never look at Tane as a woman (I was left petrified with baffledness, totally stumped and dissapointed, cause route was good so far). Sounds terrible, right? But... he reedemed himself. He redeemed himself oh so much! How? He just few scenes later explained, why he must contaminate his urges for having sex with that really busty, airheaded, not-very-smart, but lovely girl. He said that she IS JUST LIKE A CHILD. And he cannot touch a kid light that. That it is wrong to violate that immature person. That this is too early for her to have sex. F*CK YEAH! Chew that all you loli-violating protagonists! This is how you treat a child-like girl (note that she was childlish just in behaviour, not in physique!). I was so happy that I unknowingly did a Banderas gif posture. Like that: and then it all turned out that she is mature enough (and not with just saying this, actually showing this in going-ons!), and finally after beautiful scene they had sex. Nothing rushed, great buildup, perfectlly (till now) written route. 9.5/10 I didn't finished it yet though. I have still around 4-5 h scenes to endure. :| And I'm really affraid that quality will just go down. But hopefully not very much. To summ up - Ikinari, while really not perfect, and strange title is my second favourite (after MuvLuv series) title right now. I love it.2 points

Bunny Black 2 Early Impressions and Helpful Info
Suzu Fanatic reacted to EcchiOujisama for a topic
Note to new readers: I changed the title of the thread as it morphs from an early review to a source of information on how to 100% the game over time. I saw XReaper say the full patch was going to be out on 1/26 so I decided to start giving this one a go with the partial patch yesterday. I'm about 7 hours in so I've been through enough to contrast it with Bunny Black. The good: -If you liked the story in the first one, there's a lot to like here so far. It maintains the style of the original by giving you the story in small pieces so there is always more story to anticipate. -The on-screen map now comes in multiple sizes. You can change the size of the map with the shift key. Once you step on a trap Darx is actually smart enough to mark it on the map. -YOU CAN NOW SAVE ANYWHERE IN THE DUNGEONS!!! It would have been nice if I realized that before getting wiped out several times. The neutral: -Treasure no longer infinitely spawns, unless I missed out on how to make it respawn. -You are now given the opportunity to "invest" in the city after you see enough events, and by "invest" I mean personally foot the bill from your save the demon world budget. Right after it is established that Maou-sama's government has put a ton of money into these projects, because that's not good enough apparently. I give this a neutral because doing so increases your renown by 1 or 2 each time you "invest" in these -100% interest bearing bonds. Ah, how I long for the good old days of picking up 30 or 40 renown just for cleaning up graffiti. In BB2 raising your renown also raises your command and some of these unlock new units, so in practice it's fine. The story reason behind it is just ridiculous. Seriously, SHTF to the point that your king is out there fighting himself and you think THIS is the time to hit him up for his weapon money? Fortunately this is Bunny Black so there's no need for a hookers and blow budget. It's a built in fringe benefit. \(^o^)/ The bad: -The game gets WAY TOO HARD and WAY TOO FAST. If you're old enough to remember playing NES RPGs you'll remember that walking too far could quickly see you die if you don't gain a few levels first. Not in this one. You get random encounters capable of wiping you out on the very first floor of the game. -All dungeons have multiple floors. One of the things that kept the pace feeling brisk in the original was that most of the missions you did were on one floor, so you never spent too much time in one place. Even if you were just doing patrols or cleaning up graffiti it felt like you making progress at every turn. They get around it being "multiple floors" by calling it floor 9, 9A, 9B, etc. but if I'm going up and down stairs to a different map, it's a different floor. -RANDOM FUCKING ENCOUNTERS! Everyone's favorite part of RPGs right? That whole awesome aspect of the first game about being able to see your enemies on the map so you could seek them out or avoid them? Yeah, that's gone. Apparently they decided it was too great and had to get rid of it after the first dungeon. Which leads to another problem... -THE PACING SUCKS ASS!!! Based on who the enemies are, I could see a storyline reason for it not being on the map's radar if they bothered to explain it. But why in the name of fuck would you take away something as great as knowing where the enemies are so you can kill them in a game that requires a metric shitton of level building?!?!? Most of the time I have in the game so far is walking back and forth looking for random encounters to kill so I could finally beat the last fight in the second dungeon of the game. If you've played Digital Devil Saga on PS2 you understand the difference between a satisfying challenge and wasting my time. DDS is the former, this feels like the latter. -Your party has been "streamlined" down to 6 characters, while your enemies still get 9 plus backup units. Because that' s fair. -Apparently reigning as Maou has greatly decreased Darx' ability to control his underlings, as he now only has half the command ability needed to boss Meryl around, despite doing so in the scene before you discover this fact. -The speed up battles button has been changed from CTRL to CTRL+SHIFT. Because holding down only one button for hours doesn't hurt enough. Fuck that, get yourself a gaming mouse. I just posted about this and it's even more recommended for BB2. -Per the opening video, in Japanese logic Daakusu = Dirks. That's putting those 6 years of English you guys took in school to good use. Had they given him the last name of Digglers I would have moved this neutral. Looking at all of that, you're probably thinking the game is terrible, and it's not. However, most of the changes that really stick out are negative. The Wiki that noted "not all of the changes were positive" put it gently. Still, if you enjoyed the first one, you'll enjoy this one, and I suspect NG+ will cancel out most of the BS associated with this one. It should also be noted that I carried over my save from BB1 so I actually started with 2 characters that are better than what you can buy on top of it. If you're not going to wait for the full patch, there are two files to get from the thread on Seiha. There is the patch which translates the game text, and a separate patch that translates the buttons. Make sure you grab both of them. http://games.seiha.org/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=1095&sid=63061fb69d749fb186264196defafb1e1 point -
Reposting because I can. Roughly 6 months ago, a man, who I will name OriginalRun for identity protection purposes, put up an interesting ad offering part of his figurine collection. Initially I did not think much of this, but after a couple of scrolls, a particular piece caught my gaze. Little did I know the second I laid eyes upon that PVC lavender haired girl I had just begun laying down the path of one of the worst journeys I have ever went on. Who was this girl, you ask? Well that was none other than Sasasasasasasegawa Salami, otherwise known as the best Little Busters girls and the rightful owner of what is clearly the true Little Busters route. After this I decided to contact OriginalRun as soon as possible in order to secure myself the Salami figure, and luckily enough, OriginalRun managed to secure it for me. A few months pass and OriginalRun returns to his home country, Freedom Lands, where he was keeping the figure and we begin the currency exchange of what will be one of the worst scams in my life. After giving OriginalRun the amount we had agreed upon for the figure, he guaranteed he'd ship the figure to me when he was able to send out all the packages at home. OriginalRun is a pretty big slob though, so it took about another month before that happened. Once it did happen, I asked OriginalRun to do something that set my terrible fate in motion, I asked him to mark the value of the figure in the package as 20 dollarydoos. You may think at this point I'm attempting to evade some shady laws since I live in Socialist Dystopia, but the truth is because this figure was merely a gift from a friend, I thought valueing it at a common value such as 20 dollarydoos wouldn't hurt anybody and I would still pay the taxes for it regardless. I was naive. About a week passes, and the mail tracking service updating the status on my Salami figure, telling me it has entered Socialist Dystopia. I am joyous, thrilled I will finally be united with the purple goddess, but the heavens had other plans for me, because a couple days after Salami arrived, I recieved a notice from the evil syndicate known as "customs office". They were holding Salami as hostage and demanding a ransom, that ransom was proof of the Salami's value that had been assigned on the package. My heart stops, I scratch my head and wonder what I am supposed to do. I pick up the phone and dial the evil syndicate. 2 x x 6 9 6 9 x x, I press on my cellphone's keys. No answer. I call another time, and another one, and another one, and another one, and at last a connection is made. I explain to the man on the line that Salami was just a gift from a friend, and thus I had no kind of receipt that showed I paid the amount written on the package. The man instructed me to send an e-mail explaining the situation to customs, with screenshots of the bank transactions and other documents. I do as I am told. 3 days later, a reply comes back, the information is apparently not sufficient to release Salami. Sweat drips down my forehead, what will I do if I can not have Salami? I explain the story to them once again, re-iterating that it's impossible for me to have a receipt since the god damn package is a gift from a friend why the fuck are you so persistent with this shit it was merely a gift. They ask me to send in a declaration, swearing on my name and honor that the value on the package is 100% true and I do not intend to sell Salami in Socialist Dystopia or any other country inside the Kool Kids Kontinent. Confused on how to fill this form, I call customs asking for assistance in order to make sure I do not commit any mistake. It was a trap. The man on the other side of the speaker tells me the total value I'm supposed to indicate on the declaration is simply the shipping value, not the value of the figure and the shipping combined. I find this very jarring, so I ask again to make sure this is the right thing to do. The man on the phone insists this is the right thing to do. Thinking customs wouldn't lie to me, I fill the declaration the way I am told to and send it to them. And here begins the countdown to doomsday. 2 weeks pass and I get a second warning from customs, telling me I need to send them documents I had already previously sent and that because 30 days had passed since the initial warning, I would now be paying a 40 cent p/day fee. I am appalled. Why was I not warned of this beforehand, and why was I getting a second warning when I already sent them the documents? I send a new e-mail to customs, asking about the fees and why I got a second warning, to which they reply with "the documents you sent were not valid". I am speechless, they tricked me! I contact OriginalRun again and tell him the situation, he's just as in awe as I was and decides to call customs himself from Freedom Land, but the evil organization was one step ahead, as OriginalRun's call was blocked. I knew at that time that I was all by myself during this peril. I dial customs once more, something I thought I would never do, and they confirm my worst fears, I had declared the incorrect information on the initial form, even though I simply filled it just like the customs' man told me to. Angered, I decide there is only one way to solve this, and e-mails simply won't do, I will go there in person and rescue Salami! The holiday festivities are over and the customs office will be open on the following Monday. My fees keep increasing with each day that passes, 40 cents at a time, but I put up with the pain, slowly stroking my wallet and assuring it everything will be fine. This is when fate decides to throw me out of the loop again, as I am reminded that on monday I also have a final college exam to take. Not only that, but I was reminded of this on the Sunday before the exam! I dodged a bullet and set up an alarm to wake up and take the exam, but due to the unforeseen circumstances, I can not properly get a good night of sleep, and that is only the beginning of what will likely be the most tiring day I will experience in 2016. After sleeping roughly 3 hours, my alarm rings. I unwillingly get up, my limbs barely move, but I prepare to head for college, knowing that after my exam, I will also have to visit customs. I get to college, and hoping to wake myself up a little more, I buy a coffee. I sit down on a table, place the coffee in front of me, and decide to do what I typically do, browse dank memes on Reddit. I take out my tablet and lay it on the table. I'm about to take a sip of my coffee when suddenly, my sluggish arm can't control its motion very well and knocks down the cup. Dark brown liquid spreads across the table and onto my new shoes which were given to me on Christmas. I am disheartened as everything and it's only 9AM, the day looks gloom. After what has likely been a botched literature exam, I go into the subway and head to the customs office. Not being familiar with the area, I have a map on my tablet in case I get lost. I reach the designated station and exit out the nearest stairway. Looking out at the buildings, things don't look like the map, but the road looks similar enough for me to believe I came out through the correct exit. I start going down a road. About 15 minutes pass and I realize this might not have been the correct place after all. I head back to the subway and realize my fears came true and it was the wrong exit. I look at my clock, 12:40PM, 20 minutes before the customs office closes their doors. I begin the biggest dash I could muster, climbing up sets of stairs and then down a large avenue that matches the one on my map, and I soon confirm it by reading the name on a plaque. I can do it, I just need to keep going. I see the bright red colors of the office, they feel like home. I pray to god the doors are still open, that I managed to get here in time, that I didn't just waste about 4,30€ in subway tickets, that Salami won't have to wait for me another day, and the heavens gratiously granted me this wish, as I arrive there 5 minutes before they stop giving out tickets. "Now you're just making this way overdramatic" you say. Well, you'd normally think so, but that's why I kept my ticket which has the time and date on it, recording this historical feat: C0095, yes, that is the number that was assigned to me in this line. I look at the current number, C0061. Some minutes go by and the counter goes to C0062. My stomach grumbles, I realize it's 1PM and I haven't had anything to eat since 9AM. I'm starting to think I have just made the worst mistake of my life. My bladder suddenly kicks in. No bathrooms in sight. WhyDidIDoThis.png. The policemen who were guarding the doors close them and tell us nobody else can come in, only go out once they have finished whatever business they have. I've come this far with my own strength, there's no way I'm backing out now! Some more minutes pass by. I'm reading manga on my tablet in hopes of forgetting my bladder's cries for help. The stench of human sweat in this tiny enclosed space is excruciating. C0069 gets called. I internally chuckle and wonder why am I laughing at this when I'm 20 years old already. The ladies at the counter start speeding up, I guess everyone wants to have lunch. The numbers climb faster and faster, and as if a light descended upon me by the heavens, my number gets called. I am nervous, what if they reject my documents like the e-mails did? What if they start asking questions I can't answer? What if Salami just gets sent back after all this? The old lady who's talking to me asks to see the customs warning. I explain the situation once more, looking directly at her in hopes she will understand I merely want to get my figure and return to my normal life. "Ah okay. Well just fill out that declaration with the values you want and give it to me, kthnx". And not a single fuck was musttered by that office lady that day. I hand the declaration to her and she prints out the customs invoice so I can pick up my package. I can sense tears swelling up in the corners of my eyes. I will finally be able to touch her, after all this time everything will finally be worth it. I wait for the invoice line to go down and my turn is up once more, I hand out the invoice and get asked to pay about 23€ in fees. I barely even listen, I just nod and agree. I don't want to fight, I merely want to return from this hellhole and appreciate the life I've been given. The payment is complete, I wait for the lady to get my box. I see the box slowly approaching. I feel the cardboard with my fingertips, it's the sweetest sensation my fingers have felt this year. I forget everything that's happened up to that point in my life and open the exit door. It starts raining. I assure myself the world is just testing me, that this is just to see if I am worthy of having Salami. I bend down in order to cover the box as wel as I can and I run up the avenue in the pouring rain. The water drops feel like needles stabbing the back of my head, but I must stay strong in order to protect Salami. I see the subway up ahead. I don't stop to look at the red signs and cross the road, heading down the subway stairs. My coat is drenched and my feet are cold, but I keep going. The subway entrance feels like the entrace to the garden of eden, once I enter I can put everything behind me. This is what I initially thought, but I was soon brought back to the harsh reality of the fact this day just absolutely hates me, as I enter the subway to encounter a man playing the accordion. I don't use the subway a lot, but this never happened before. Today, the sole day I just want to get some rest after all the ordeals I've been through, there's a guy playing the accordion as loud as he possibly can next side me in the subway. My head feels like it's about to implode, I want to throw him out of the carriage, but I keep my calm as much as possible. The subway finally reaches the final station. I leave and feel my head ringing, but just a few more steps and I'll be able to get on a bus and head home. The bus comes, I think I might have actually teared a little. I sit Salami down on the seat next side me. I call my father and ask him if he can pick me up when I get home. Turns out today is the day my father starts his new job so there's nobody home to pick me up. My feet feel an itch, they've been walking for hours, yet the day is still not over. I get off the bus, my house is finally at a walking distance. I keep my pace up, holding Salami tight under my arm. The sunset looks beautiful, it's almost like everything that occured earlier never happened and I'm just able to enjoy this moment with the Salami I've been waiting for so much. I see my house in the distance. I can't feel my feet, but I keep going, those 3 hours of sleep are going to have to be enough to get me home, I won't fall down on a place like this. I reach the door and twist the key, I have never liked the scent of a building as much as I did at that moment. My body musters to bring out its leftover strength to reach my bedroom and open the package. The feelings rising up inside me are indiscribable. I remove all the foam peanuts, each one revealing more and more of the purple twintailed goddess. My body collapses on the bed, foam all around it. All of my body extremeties are numb, as is my mind. I can't think back on all the crazy stuff that has happened today. The blood, sweat and tears I have shed over this past month. The endless yelling at the customs office to get a brain and realize people can send gifts to each other without actually doing purchases you fucking dimwits. These insufferable 6 months of waiting feel like an instant as I lift my chin up and can, at last, lay my teary eyes upon my Salami. "Truly a best girl. 5/7" - IGN What did you do for your waifu today, fuwans? PS: Yes, this did happen today (on the 4th because fuwanovel.rip) PSS: That includes the accordion guy. PSSS: Yes, Portugal's customs office is that shitty.1 point

Fate/Apophenia, A fanmade VN [PROLOGUE RELEASED]
Forgetful Frank reacted to konojolras for a topic
DOWNLOAD PROLOGUE HERE http://www.mediafire.com/download/as5br ... 283%29.zip Hello everyone! This is an attempt at making a fangame based on the Fate/Stay Night VN and the Fate franchise in general within the Nasuverse. We are a very small team working on this right now, consisting of three people of which two are helping on story only. Most of the coding, writing and art has been left to me. While I can handle it, any aid would be greatly appreciated. Hey, even if you're not interested in helping, your opinion on our main plot would be extremely helpful! Background story behind the project Now this is quite important because it might be a major dealbreaker for most in the western Fate fandom. The original idea for this game/story came from really wanting to see some Arturia/Gilgamesh interaction with Gilgamesh's personality being like it was during life and not messed up due to humanity being messed up during the time he was summoned. Gilgamesh being like he was in Fate/Extra CCC. We wanted to create a scenario that would fit into canon and would allow us to explore the dynamics between both characters, their personalities and their backstories. Of course, we don't want to romanticize it. We are fully aware of how problematic their relationship is due to Fate/Stay Night- we want to take all of this into account- but going further into the exploration of their relationship. Now that that has been taken out of the way, this is obviously not a fanwork solely made to have Gil and Arturia interact, we created a plot that would allow us to explore and create many other characters beyond that. We want to explore the stories of servants in the three first holy grail wars, their lives and legends. Plot During the events of the Fifth Holy Grail War, Ilyasviel von Einzbern, as the embodiment of the Holy Grail, sacrificed herself to close the pathway opened by a corrupted grail. The Greater Grail was destroyed, bringing the ritual of Fuyuki to a conclusion. However, the Grail had been in place for far too long, it held far too much concentrated magical energy; the sudden dismantlement of such a structure, which after 200 years, had almost become a natural part in the mana flow within the region, was bound to fail. The ritual ended, yet the mangled structure slowly begun to regenerate. After a couple decades had passed, the Magic Association began to become increasingly more desperate to reach Akasha. They turned their eyes to the previous ritual held in Fuyuki - and sought to recreate it. The Magic Association took their own path, straying from the knowledge of the three founding families. With the complete eradication of the Makiri/Matou line after Fifth War and the Tohsaka family head, Rin, refusing to help in any way with the recreation of the ritual, the Magic Association followed their own crooked path. The Association’s mixture of stubbornness and desperation led them to take a dangerous shortcut in their new establishment. Due to lack of planification and information, the site where the mangled grail stood was revisited and used as the centre for the newly established ritual. This reestablished Greater Grail was a source of great instability - forcing it to work like a properly built structure ignited the unstable magical energy engulfing it, resulted in the opening of a leak into Akasha. The leak led to the creation of a spiritual reality - a massive reality marble - a realm of spirits and magic with no physical manifestation, close to The Root. This realm, much like Akasha, is a place based on energy and magic, holding no connection to Gaia whatsoever. It is a place brimming with an aura of unfulfilled wishes, hatred and despair. Being influenced by the guidelines of the Grail War, the leak into Akasha serves as a way of summoning Heroic Spirits recorded within the Throne of Heroes. Due not being connected to the world in any direct way, true heroic spirits are summoned rather than emanations, as there is no need to worry for inconsistencies within the world in a spiritual realm. Similarly, the souls of magi are forcibly summoned into this realm to take part as "masters". -Except there is no Holy Grail to fight for. There is no point to the summoning. Any human with at least one working magic circuit is eligible for being summoned into this realm. Their soul will escape their body, leaving it in a coma like state. This results in many inexperienced and confused magi trapped in the place. A magus with enough magic circuits and great skill should be good enough to handle themselves and even be able to communicate with the outside world - but those with poor circuits are bound to get their minds twisted by the place, going so far into believing there actually is an omnipotent wishing granting device to fight for. While Heroic Spirits have no reason to fight each other, magi who find themselves in the realm need to fight for the existence of their soul. Upon the magic association noticing the great swirl of mana at the moment of the summoning of a master, they were able to investigate the potential of the leak in terms of reaching Akasha, and would continue to seek the exploitation of the system. If a soul - let it be heroic spirit or magus - is to perish within the realm, it will be collected by the faulty grail. The more souls the grail collects, the more power it gains to open a proper route into Akasha. Even if one does not wish to reach Akasha - they will still have to fight in order to survive against the vile attacks of the members of the Magic Association. Besides, if one wishes to escape the realm and return to Gaia, they will have to see the war through to the end. Characters ARTURIA PENDRAGON Voiced by: Adoxographist Better known as Arthur Pendragon or King Arthur, usually regarded as a male in history. She is Britain's "Once and Future King" reigning in Avalon until the day she'd be needed once more - or so was recorded in history. In reality, King Arthur was frozen on her deathbed, where she made a contract with the world. The contract stated that she would not die until she acquired the Holy Grail, which would serve as a way of amending her reign- erasing her existence in order to save her country. Despite having unlimited chances to acquire the Holy Grail, her failures in the Fourth and Fifth grail wars of Fuyuki have weighted heavily on her mind. She continues to struggle with herself, while seeking a self-destructive ideal. GILGAMESH Voiced by: Jon Bullock Mankind’s oldest hero, humanity’s first king. Despotic, arrogant and selfish. Gilgamesh was born with immense power, not being fully divine nor human, with his field of vision reaching extents which not even the gods were capable of fully comprehending. His power resulted in great isolation, but his strength of self kept him from abandoning his kingship or fleeing from the mission imposed upon him. He favoured isolation as he believed that by having chosen the path of a king he had to advance through it alone. Enkidu, Gilgamesh’s friend and companion was the sole exception to this rule. Gilgamesh is a guardian of humanity, yet he did not take upon this role by sheltering mankind. Instead, he sees himself as an observer, an adjudicator and sentencer of men. He alone bears all the burdens of humanity, of sin. He has accepted this as his role. JANE BASKERVILLE. Voiced by: Trina Deuhart Jane is a magus trapped within the reality marble, Apophenia. She was born within a minor magi bloodline from Wales specialized in the creation of puppet familiars and automata. Despite great potential and strong magic circuits, Jane seldom practices magic, as she has no control over her own mana, resulting in harmful bursts of power dangerous for both herself and those around her. Upon encountering each other, she forms a contract with Saber class servant Arturia Pendragon. Jane has a great interest on the new world that has appeared before her, and seeks to explore it to her heart’s content rather than focusing on escaping or fighting other servants and masters. ALLEN SAPIENTI CORTEZ. Due to being the son of an important archeologist, Allen has travelled across the world all of his life. He is well versed in different cultures and is very passionate about learning about myths, legends and stories from everywhere he has visited. He has some magic circuits within his body, passed on from his mother. However, as he never did live with her, he was never trained to be a magus. He is summoned to Apophenia and paired up with Gilgamesh. Allen is enthralled with the Gate of Babylon and all the different weapons within it. Despite his lack of talent at magic, he can easily identify different heroic spirits. Root Double- Before Crime * After Days - Kickstarter launched!

I really hope dovac is planning to autopledge the last 10k if the kickstarter is 90% funded st the last hour... This is a quick and a little dishonest way to Save The Day if the kickstarter is near funding1 point -

Nobody seems like they're trying all that hard. Especially Register, who aren't even interacting with the VN community. Sekai Project didn't try much with getting the KS out there until recently. This Kickstarter is a giant example on how not to do a Kickstarter.1 point -

Heh, If things are the way they are - I'm sure SP has already went through talks as best they could - unless SP is simply bad a talking/negotiating with devs in general....(though there's of course the chance Regista is one of the remaining devs that have a xenophobic attitude). Take Libra for example - Xero was all about getting involved with MikandI and getting involved with the consumers (I haven't paid much attention, but have we heard even a peep of involvement from Regista? Not to say I expect that from every project - hell, Xero and Mikandi are really the only example of such a strong showing, besides perhaps Muvluv. Bottom line is, it really depends on how much Regista cares if it sells/succeeds - they might not really care about overseas market, but are simply trying as a "why not?".1 point -
I don't know what's the plan behind it, but I don't think that it will help that much. Normal guy, wants his Vita version, he look at KS page: "Oh okay, there's vita, time to pledge!" Then he sees that he would need to pledge 225$ or more: "Okay, nvm." While addind Vita version is pretty nice, I don't think many Vita players will ride this train... It would be way better just adding VITA tier at 30$ and Vita&PC Digital Bundle at like 60$ You would probably get couple hundreds of people. Maybe even more, who knows. We'll see how it'll go, I want it to succeed, so... And you left 1000/5000/7000 as they are, well that's your choice. These tiers just saddens me... They're really uncomparable to Muv-Luv or even Libra. Cost of Libra B/W Shikishi 1000$, cost of Muv Luv Maxima Colored Shikishi 300~~$ Official Colored Shikishi 1000~~$ (Muv-Luv ones maybe even less, because of the other prizes) Root Double B/W Shikishi 4000$+ Root Double Colored Shikishi 6000$+ I'm not a hater of SP, but if Regista/Yeti wanted to offer tiers like this, you should just say "Are you guys out of your minds?" It's not even about supporting the KS/game/devs or not, it's about RESPECTING the visual novel fanbase... Someone still will probably have to pledge this amount to save this KS... I know Root Double doesn't have much merchendise, but that doesn't mean that you have to put tiers like these. I would just delete them personally. Someone who's willing to pledge 7000$ should get at least a meeting with writer/artist + both B/W and Colored Shikishis Sorry for a little bashing, I hope I didn't offend anyone...1 point

Top 5 VN Heroines
Canicheslayer reacted to VirginSmasher for a topic
Chris' route was the weakest out of all of them in my opinion. It's just another spin on the heroine going against their own father/mother that I've seen done better in Grisaia...twice. That storyline has been done to death in visual novels. Despite that, it was still a good route, just not comparable to the others.1 point -

In my opinion, Wanko has the best route in Majikoi. It changed my vision of this character. Like you, She made me cry like a broken-hearted teenager Before reading her route, I thought she was just the mascot of the Kazama family1 point -

Official wallscrolls aren't really that expensive though, unless you want huge ones, but those are expensive even as bootlegs. If I were to rank them though, I'd say they're on the same level as t-shirts and mugs since you can easily custom print one. I don't think a 50-500 dollar difference is realistic though. From my experience, the most expensive things to buy, outside of figurines, tend to be stuff like dakimakuras, and the most you'll save on those if you buy a bootleg is maybe 50 or 60 dollars, and the print quality is extremely important when it comes to dakimakuras, so I think those 50 dollars might be a worthy investment. The rest of anime goods are usually cheapish stuff which makes bootlegs obsolete. Also, if you know where to search, you can usually find good deals for the real products, even the more expensive ones. I think bootlegs are valid in some scenarios though, like when something is no longer manufactured and is very rare, to the point where the prices for it online are absurd. I don't normally buy a ton of stuff at once, so even though authentic goods are more expensive, I'd rather pay extra for security and quality than save a few bucks somewhere else and get an inferior product while simultaneously not supporting the makers of the anime I like. The extra amount is usually not abysmal unless you just like buying tons of stuff at once, so I'll always go with authentic first and foremost.1 point
-
That's fine, but my position still stands in the end, buying a collectible that's authentic always has more value for me. It's pretty simple logic. Unless you're buying something to wear, chances are you're buying something ornamental or something that's meant to be collected, and i think having a collectible that's not authentic kinda defeats the purpose of it.1 point
-
I mostly find collection value in those derivative goods and a bootleg is therefore worthless from that point of view. I could see myself custom printing a t-shirt or a mug, though. However I wouldn't buy anime goods from a bootleg store regardless - if I'm gonna spend money on anime goods, it might as well go to the people funding muh animu and not a random crook.1 point

Princess Evangile Release 2015
Stormwolf reacted to CeruleanGamer for a topic
Well here's the thing. In all the new routes of W Happiness (Marika, Konomi, Mitsuki, Tamie, and Ruriko), Ruriko's from what I remember is the latter and the story is about him and her dealing with that whole situation. For each new route, there is a summary/prologue chapter that covers what happens in the common route (although not the whole thing, just a few events before their route actually starts) and each heroine branch out in different parts. Like Marika's route for example transitions after Masaya "saves" her while Tamie's or Ruriko's are different.1 point -

Aratana Hajimari, new independent VN in development
Forgetful Frank reacted to Satsuki for a topic
This is just my honest opinion, so don't take it personal. I suggest that you take a look at other successful KS first before making one yourself. Info about the project and the team is too lacking. There is pretty much no sample artwork from the VN, which I guess due to the lack of member, which make me wondering why did you even try to start a KS even though you haven't filled an important slot in the team - the artist. I don't think many people will want to back a project which the completion is so uncertain like this. To make things worse, your physical rewards can only be shipped within the US, which will limit even more the number of backer. There is no digital version of the game, which will "scare" away people with limited budget. The pledge tiers also seem pretty, should I say, unreasonable, without knowing the length and quality of the VN. $10 as the lowest tier for a "thank you" is just plain bad. I do have some other complains, but I will just leave it like this for now.1 point -
