visual novel in progress-Ignis Avis Venatio
Templarseeker and one other reacted to bomhat for a topic
Hello, I'm new to this forum so if this isn't the right place to post this let me know. So I'm working on a visual novel story: Set in modern England, Cain Blanchard is a smart-aleck 15 year old who, after enrolling in a school specializing in the arts of sorcery, finds himself caught in a game triggered every 500 years by the birth of the phoenix. Ignis Avis Venatio is a fight to the death competition between students and their familiars. The winner of the game obtains the phoenix’s powers. On top of choosing who to date and who to kill, Cain must make the crucial decision of whether the phoenix’s power will be used in benevolence or for destruction. characters: For anyone interested in this project you can check out our development progress here: http://project-iav.tumblr.com/ It's also in the middle of being funded: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/743136579/visual-novel-ignis-avis-venatio/description , so if you have the time we'd greatly appreciate it. I'd love to hear what anyone thinks of the project so far. Thank you!2 points -

500th Post: The Journey: The Regret: The Movie
Ayana and one other reacted to Arcadeotic for a topic
It finally happened. I hope you like redundant [insert number here] post "looking back at"-topics, because we're at it again, ladies and gents. I found Fuwa in June 2014, when torrents were still a thing around here. It was a neat site back then, but I really didn't visit it that often, only a few times in the span of the rest of 2014. Then when 2015 rolled around, the changes to the site sort of pushed me away, and I slowly forgot about it. I never really fancied Fuwa, and I liked r/visualnovels much more, and thus spent the majority of 2015 there. And then December of 2015 rolled around. I was talking to a few of my friends and decided to make an account on here, though the account was only for the sole reason to post my partial save file of KoiChoco, to skip Chisato's route. I soon after forgot about Fuwa again. However, I did check the comments on the thread every now and then. Some time after that, I was thinking about translating the first game in the Bishoujo Mangekyou series, but as this kind of topic would be kind of stupid on r/vns, I posted that query here, and got quite a positive reception. That was a little over 3 months from now. A few days later I noticed how Fuwa had a option for chatting, so I decided to give that a try. From that point on my Fuwa experience was only about chatting and doing my translation project. I never would've thought about being active in the Forums. But then things changed. Mainly Kaguya's little experiment, Chatmod-chan. I decided to volunteer for it, and met a few good people. It was fun, for the week it lasted. Soon after that, I was invited to my very first PM chat/conversation. From there I met even more people, and decided to also become active on the Forums. This was at the mid-point of January, I think. From that I steadily rose with my posts, had some laughs, had some disputes, gushed about Gahkthun, it was mostly good. Then, in the mid-point of February, I got to know some new personalities, including some of the mods. Soon after that OriginalRun made a certain topic about the under-staffing of the chat, mainly the moderators there. Soon after I was elected to the rule of a chat mod, thanks to Kaguya. Through that I met some new people, and gained even more of a rich experience. I felt like I had reached a good point in Fuwa in a such short period of time. That's the sweet and short version of my history here. Now for the part you all love oh so much, the nominations. @Kawasumi You're one of the two users I knew before coming to Fuwa. I hope to see you around even more. @12kami One of the major chat personalities I've interacted with. You're a lot of fun, I'm looking forward to more. @Dergonu The first person I ever had any long conversations with aside from Kawasumi. You're a nice guy, keep doing what you're doing, yuri-freak @CeruleanGamer I haven't talked to you a lot, but you have interesting opinions and our interest align a lot, so I like you. @Kaguya The mod I've talked the most with. I respect you, hope it continues that way. @VirginSmasher You're a cool guy, our interest don't always align, but I usually like to hear what you have to say. @DarkZedge I like you. You haven't talked about your tastes that much outside of Comyu, but I do like the fact you're an avid neko lover. @gijimu Another fun person from chat. I like your output most of the time, and you're an overall very nice to be around. @Zebhra You always have a some fun input in the chat. Keep being a massive pervert, old man. @mitchhamilton I like our little master-servant relationship we have. Good going, trap lover. @Kiriririri Other good guy/gal from Northern Europe. I like your obsession of moe, you're a good guy. @Ayana Good ol' Zealty. You're still fun to be around, and your obsession with traps is entertaining to watch. @Poinu You are always entertaining in the chat. Be it your moaning about Chinese or just starting Poi trains. @SajkoWolfe You're the last of the majoj chat personalities important to me. You're fun to be around, never change. @Tay Haven't really interacted with you that much, but we all are thankful to you for keeping the site alive, and so am I @Nosebleed I can definitely see why you're so popular and respected around here. Keep on breaking the site. Other fellow chat mods @Kurisu-Chan, @Nimbus and @Makudomi. Honorable mentions for people I've interacted to some amount, but not enough. And with that, this post has reached its conclusion. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to figure something clever for my title. Until we meet again.2 points -
Guide to learning japanaese
AngstyNarrator reacted to Alanae for a topic
Learning Japanese is something that might seem like a daunting task that will take forever, which probably scares off a lot of people. However, it can actually be quite a fun experience depending on how you decide to tackle it, as it's possible learn it through reading visual novels and other media. It's also quite likely that you will be able to get good enough at Japanese to finish a VN you've been hyped to play before it finishes, or even starts getting a translation, and once done, you'll still have plenty of other VNs to read, that you might never be able to otherwise. For those interested in trying, I hope the guide here will help you with starting out and having a nice time. (note: while it might tempting to do so after you've gotten some proficiency with reading, I'd advise against learning through translating, as it will be much slower than simply just reading more instead, as you'll now have to concentrate on both your japanese and english and the result will probably not be very good yet (translation is difficult).)1 point -

News Flash! News Flash! News Flash! News Flash! News Flash! News Flash! News Flash! News Flash! News Flash! News Flash! Local hotspot and famous galactic bar Boobies has recently announced a renovation period which will see its doors closed for the next few months. Patrons of the establishment have expressed dissatisfaction as they look elsewhere in the stars for the best service this side of the universe. The Intergalactic Organization for Universal Affairs (IOUA) has begun accepting applications for new managers of maid cafes and eateries in the nearest nebula and promises substantial rewards for those who can provide service to the slew of regulars at Boobies. More news to come in the following day. Coming Soon (14/03/2016)...1 point -
Sup, I'm an irredeemable weeb. Before we go any further: Sengoku Rance is the best VN ever made. Comparing Muv-Luv, Steins;Gate and all that other stuff to Sengoku Rance is like comparing Cory in the House to anime. Also, ALL monster girls are my waifu. All of them .1 point

This game is now up on Steam Greenlight. The Greenlight page is less of a mess than Kagura Douchuuki's was, but the text is still obviously written by a non-native speaker. It manages to be understandable at least, but we're still talking worse than the Flowers demo here. Unlike Kagura Douchuuki, this is a game that actually has merit without its H-content--indeed, the H-content in the original felt kind of out of place. The battle system resembles the one in Tales games, and it's probably the best system of any Debonosu game I've tried. The story is the standard cliche garbage with dimwitted villains that you'd find in a 1990's SNES JRPG, with some moe scenes added in. Overall, I could vaguely recommend this game to fans of VN-RPGs, even without the ero-content. That is, if Debonosu actually hired a translator that could write proper English at least. Going by EGS scores and my gut intuition, it's probably the best game in Debonosu's lineup (excluding Izumo 4, which I haven't evaluated).1 point

So one collective mob are yelling out, in unison, that the other collective mob are sheep and not individuals, and the other collective mob are yelling back, in unison, ‘we aren't. We're all individuals!’ Fascinating behaviour. I will continue to observe what’s happening in America with much amusement and a permanent smirk. The Republican debates have been comedy gold.1 point -

To be fair, Debonosu's track record is having promotional materials that are more poorly translated than the game itself. My guess is that they hire a translator for the game script and have some random person on their JP staff do the promotional materials. But those screenshots are nothing. Feast your eyes (and ears!) on this:1 point

Dies Irae only a little ahead underdog, Baldr Sky. I voted for Dies Irae, because here in Fuwanovel we circle-jerk the hyped stuff we never read. The big guy. The mighty chuunige overlord. The one who's already on top of the VN world. If you admire such qualities and like being a meanie to Old Man Rooke, you too should vote for Dies Irae.1 point

Sekien no Inganock -What a Beautiful People- Summary Inganock, a city isolated from the outside, a city where everything is distorted, even the sun. It all started ten years ago, at a day called 'Revival'. Then residents of the city slowly changed into beings partially human and partially animal. To this day, only a few still look fully human on the outside. One of these is Gii, a former medical student, now an illegal doctor that walks the city and cures the poor for free. He changed too, but only in the inside, and his change gave him a mysterious ability that he uses to heal people that keep mutating further every day. He has a few 'friends' if you can call them that. One of them is a black steel cat girl called Ati. Another one is an old friend from his medical school that he just met again after ten years, Salem. But everything truly begins when he meets a little girl with pink eyes named Kia... Ending Guideline While Sekien no Inganock is completely linear it does come with a minigame that can take some trial and error to get through and is sometimes quite frustrating. There is an option in the game to skip this game completely however I do not recommend doing this. Without the information provided in it several core parts of the story will be very hard to understand. Walkthrough Chapter 1: The Sky, There Are Two Suns Chapter 2: And Now, A Fairy Tale Chapter 3: This Sound, Surely If I play It... Chapter 4: A Mirror, Even If It Reflects Nothing... Chapter 5: Right Now, Your Tears Are Right Here Chapter 6: The Window, On A Night of Pouring Rain Chapter 7: My Voice, Even If It Doesn't Reach You Now... Chapter 8: A Death, A Voice from the Intermission Chapter 9: A Flower, One Thing Sparkling Chapter 10: A Flower, On That Day It Bloomed Proudly Chapter 11: My Heart, Where In My Chest?
