  1. Yeah, click bait topic title, whatever. Enough is enough. After this post, I am never coming back here again, so you can make hate posts all you want. Seriously, all I see is hate for the Sakura series. Why? Because it's popular? Or because you think they're milking the series? Well, that's subjective, so we can argue about it all day long and never come to a conclusion. The Sakura series is still a piece of creative art, and we need to at least show it that much respect. All right, I will just come right out and say it. The Sakura series actually introduced me to the visual novel genre. It will always have a special place in my heart, yet you all just keep sh*ting on it. Every damn post guys. It makes me so , and I have been trying to hold it in, but I can't contain it anymore. Screw this. I am going to post one final picture here, then maybe some of you will actually have a change of heart and realize the Sakura series in fact deserves a lot of respect:

  2. I've been told that here would be an appropriate place to inform the public of the newly-released high-resolution hyphen-inducing version of Noble☆Works (and I choose to do so because nobody views our website anymore). So in short, we got some super duper high-res shizzle in this patch: And I'm gonna stop talking now because the post looks a lot better on the website.

The The Oxford Comma is Superior Subs state-of-the-art gluten-free Noble☆Works HD patch™ is made with a prolonged process of techniques based on peer-reviewed studies and your mom's Facebook feed. Only with our capabilities can you produce such a fine image (regular upscale on left, The Oxford Comma is Superior Subs upscale on the right): This avant-garde cutting-edge politically-correct procedure begins with dousing the original image in a variety of coconut oils, herbal oils, snake oils, crude oil, etc. We then allow it to undergo an advanced fermentation process that originated in methods utilized and developed by Australian Aboriginals for thousands of years. Then, after a series of secret techniques certified by the Patent Office of Malaysia, our high-resolution all-natural uranium-235-scarce upscaled image comes to fruition! Thus, after months of unionized labor, you have Noble☆Works HD.

  9. So I wrote a thing about this: http://blog.fuwanovel.net/2016/04/the-story-of-flowers-troubled-demo-and-what-jast-plans-to-do-about-it/ It's mostly for people who aren't already familiar with all of the details, but there's a couple new tidbits of information in there. The main one being that JAST is aiming for a May release right now.

  12. I heard a very interesting story on the radio today on my way home from work. China recently held a marathon for runners who, upon finishing the race, received gift bags with scented soaps. Each one of the soaps had English labeling on them. It turns out that a lot of runners are very hungry and thirsty after completing a long marathon of over 10 miles (16 kilometers). It turns out they ate the soaps assuming they were some form of food. A lot of the runners got sick and threw the soap all over the streets, half eaten. I found this story interesting because it seems to me that China (which can also relate to Japan) doesn't seem to understand the importance of properly labeling things if you are using foreign words. I connected this with the poor use of English all over the country and why Japan specifically doesn't care how bad they butcher the language in anime and other material. I just don't get it: what is so cool about English anyways? We treat Japanese like a gift of the gods, yet Japan falls head over heels for English. Sure, it's just soap, but getting sick because of poor labeling is just sad. Is that the full reason? Probably not, but had the packaging been in Chinese or had this been addressed to the participants of the marathon beforehand, it could have been avoided. We care so much about the accuracy of TLs in the English community, yet it seems to be the opposite around the world. You'd think there would be a little more common sense being used in this example. Better yet, who gives people scented soaps as a marathon reward? Seriously. Anyways, thoughts? Not specifically on this story, but language accuracy in general.

  13. Yes, the timing is most unfortunate, but this is not an Aril Fool's joke and I think it deserves everyone's attention given the deadline is today. In sum: The organization Fight for the Future publicized the fact that the US government is currently taking feedback on the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, also known as DMCA. Video for those that don't like reading: They are accepting comments from all over the world, not just the USA. This is the perfect time to actually make a change on this outdated law that in recent years has screwed over content creators and has been abused to silence people countless times by corporations and, if you follow YouTube drama, even has been used by random individuals to troll channels with absolutely no repercussions. Outside of videos, the DMCA is constantly abused to threaten websites. If you care about things like Fair Use, now is the time to act. So what do you do now? Visit this page and write your comment: http://takedownabuse.org/ Preferably take the time to write a personalized comment with a good amount of attention to detail. The more the better, but quality is also important. And of course, share the page wherever you can in order to bring more people to send a comment. Hopefully for once we can make a change.

  15. Thank you, @Decay, this is awesome. The first The War on Drugs song you linked grabbed me immediately, so that got picked up. Listened to a couple Strand of Oaks songs, including the first one you linked, but it didn't quite click yet. Might come back to it later. EL VY was an immediate fit. I especially love the instrumentation and the production, I think? Production these days often makes it hard to hear distinct instruments through the wall of sound, but everything's incredibly distinct in the song you linked, which gives it a really unique sound. And the instrumentation is great, so it really benefits from it. I listened to the same song twice Mikal Cronin - good. Nothing specific to say, but I liked it. Father John Misty - First two songs on the album sound fine, but the lyrics are just a bit weird for me. I enjoyed the third song on the album, but the fourth one completely threw me out of that mood again. I may be too sincere a person to enjoy this. I've listened to a fair bit of Modest Mouse before, and it's very hit-and-miss for me. Good News For People Who Love Bad News is by far my favorite album that I've listened to (I haven't heard the album you linked, yet), but even on that album I really enjoy only about half the songs ("Ocean Breathes Salty", "Float On", "The Good Times Are Killing Me"); some of the songs, like "This Devil's Workday", I find pretty grating. They definitely do meet the criterion of having distinctive vocals. I'll give that newer album a listen. Spoon was one of those bands I kept meaning to listen to and never got around to. The song you linked is great; I grabbed the album. Noise rock is somewhat relevant to my interests, actually - when I'm properly prepared for it, Sonic Youth's album Dirty does a lot for me. But I haven't found much else in this arena that I liked (tried Dinosaur Jr., couldn't get into it even though I like their distinctive guitar tone a lot; even other Sonic Youth albums around the same time, like Sister and Daydream Nation, don't appeal to me much). At any rate, I didn't really like "LIFE" that much, but I tried the album from the start, and I liked "STONEFIST", so I'll pick this up too. Grimes: this kills. Neon Indian - weird. But good. Titus Andronicus - not crazy about his voice, but the guitars remind me of what I like about both Idlewild and Hüsker Dü, and the songwriting especially is very Hüsker Dü-like, which is high praise from me... until it turns into Irish pub music, but that's all right too. Surf - listened to the first two songs. Amazing. This is definitely happening. Jamie xx - I agree with the assessment of it being incredibly listenable. I think I'm spent, after responding to this post for the last couple hours. I'll get back to your honorable mentions and the subsequent responses later today or tomorrow. Incidentally, because of this thread I've probably listened to more YouTube ads in the last 24 hours than in the entire previous month.

  22. This one involves two of my friends and I. How we did it is we lured one of my friends out of the house for a while by telling him that they would buy some games since the other had some credit. Now the one friend who lured him out thought that we would egg the guys house while they were gone but I decided to get them both. I syphoned some gas from a few cars along the street, put the gas all over the house, and set it on fire. Oh the look on their faces when they came back. Priceless. Here's a pic of the house afterwards.

  23. Will finish up chapter 2 once I´m home, (in school at the moment,) and then I´ll upload it. It will most likely be up in 6-7 hours after this post. Will be making a small list of questions later about the structure of it, so if you have any suggestions for changes I can make in future chapters, start thinking of them now and I´ll make a thread or a blog post with a poll where you can vote after chapter 2 is up. (Think, how many deaths do you want each week? Should the fights be longer or shorter? Should I focus more on the identity of each character, or should I make it more fast paced with more deaths each chapter? etc etc.) I had a little less time to write chapter 2 compared to chapter 1, so there might be some slight inconsistencies in the writing, but I don´t think it should be very noticable. I hope it isn´t at least All hail #Team Kaguya!

  25. All I'm hearing are excuses, at least get her phone number or email before you graduate so you can keep in touch. Pretend you're thinking about something near her or looking through your bag for something, anything you can think of that won't look too suspicious. If you don't confess to her and leave things like this then what are those feelings for? I think it'd be sad if a future that involves you and her was wasted because you're too shy.

  26. Tokyo Babel is pretty swell. I already read Raziel's route, I just couldn't stop partway. Here's some random non-spoilery impressions, partly because I'm tired and partly because I feel it's important to hype good new VNs. Tokyo Babel is damn cool. Character and monster designs, chuuni dialog, fight scenes... Tension, excitement and "Hell Yeah"-feelings are really strong most of the time. The music is really good, both the melancholic pieces and the high-tension battle music. It's surprisingly humorous. Some amount of humor is always expected, but Tokyo Babel manages to be really hilarious at times, and in a way that doesn't distract from the serious parts. The setting is really fascinating in Tokyo Babel and so are it's themes. Since the setting is based on Christian mythology it should come as no surprise that it's filled with religious themes, but at times Tokyo Babel managed to still really impress me. Without going to too much detail, there's some pretty intriguing stuff about topics like faith, immortality, and of course reason for being -- "raison d'être". Oh yeah, the translation is top notch too. It sounds very natural during normal conversations as it should, and more importantly suitably theatrical when it needs to. So yeah, it's great. I can't wait to see what the other routes have to offer.

Even if it won't be a perfect adaptation, this story deserves the attention, it deserves to get adapted. Technically if you didn't sneak in OTL + your little review on it, you would've whooped my ass Lucy's great y'all. Read it. ~~ Sadly. I'll probably down for the count for the next few months when it comes to VNs. 40. I spent > an hour listening to all the stuff in this thread and responding (and actually even still I'm not quite done listening yet...). So, thanks, everybody! This is already a huge success as far as I'm concerned, but if anybody's got more, keep em coming! Nah, Huey Lewis is just good 80s music. Good retro 80s music is Chromeo: I do recall hearing something I liked from Rise Against before - probably in Rock Band? Let's see... yeah, I really liked "Give It All" in Rock Band 2. And I like this song, too - so, thanks, I'll pick up an album! Generally speaking, I do like some metal, though it's not my main thing - in terms of older stuff, I like Megadeth somewhat, but Metallica I'm not too fond of. More recently, I liked Avenged Sevenfold's City of Evil album, especially Sidewinder (dat acoustic solo): Random, but interesting. Their flavor of synthpop reminds me a lot of Leitbur, who seems to be on the road to legitimately making it as a band now, but who I only know of because of their contributions to the OCRemix FFVI album a few years ago (which I rather liked), which happened before they'd put out any kind of album: REM is one of my very favorites , so you just went up a notch in my personal Fuwanovel user rankings (no, they don't actually exist) for bringing them up right away . I love Document and Murmur, especially. Hard-Fi, I liked a lot; although the band sounds completely different, the singer's voice reminds me quite a bit of Bloc Party's (though it really might just be the accent...). Tried Blackmore Night and ... didn't like it. Will listen to the rest of your suggestions shortly. Picked one at random on youtube, since it seems the link you provided is blocked for the US because record companies suck. The one I picked was "The Girl In Byakkoya", which was weird, but interesting. I'm not sure yet if I like it or not - usually, for me, whatever the topic, the "not sure if want" reaction means that if I get used to it I'll like it a lot, so I'll keep listening. Unfortunately, it seems Ben Howard's voice isn't my favorite, but it turns out I love his songs and the way he sings, so I'll keep listening until I get to like the timbre as well. At any rate, he went straight to the top of my list of stuff to pick up. Thank you! Listened to "You". Sold. Pop-punk is 100% ok by me, generally speaking - I'm not ashamed to admit that I enjoy all four Fall Out Boy albums I've heard (and I didn't realize they had an album last year, or I would've picked that up too). I listened to "The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows" and it didn't really click, though, so I'll probably pass on this band for now, unless you have a song to point me at that might grab me more. Now that works for me. It turns out you like metal but don't realize that it's metal - @FruitsPunchSamurai can probably offer you some good pointers Actually, I hadn't heard them before, but Xandria's singer does have a crazy voice that I really like, so I'll give that some more time to see if I can get myself to enjoy the instrumentation more and enjoy it. Orchestra-backed metal usually sounds a little too cheesy for me, but hey, I actually like Northern Kings, so nothing is impossible.

  43. If you like Sufjan Stevens and that sort of thing, I cannot recommend Ben Howard enough, particularly his latest album. Keaton Henson too. If you haven't heard them already, that is... I also recommend Brand New if you're not familiar, they're kinda pop-punk but they have a real emotional draw (The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me is my favourite). If you like them, then check Captain We're Sinking's 'The Future Is Cancelled'. There are several, in fact. Rate Your Music is probably the best one as it's an utterly comprehensive library - down to some really obscure stuff. I use Sputnikmusic cos I'm a fairly active member of the community there, but RYM is pretty much objectively better if you're looking at music cataloguing.

  44. I'm going to assume R.E.M. is already in your playlist. A couple of British Bands I've taken a shine to are Hard-Fi and Fiction Plane. The former has this sort of rock-funk fusion sort of vibe. Hard To Beat is a really catchy tune. The latter is fronted by Sting's oldest son from his failed first marriage. Two Sisters has a nice straight-forward rock approach, though this isn't the best rendition of it. Stateside I wish Sugarcult would end their Hiatus and record some new stuff. For something totally off-the-wall, you could check out Blackmore's Night. It's actually the guy from Deep Purple, only now he plays modern Ren-Faire music.
