  3. «Eyes of Gods» is a dramatical visual novel with elements of mystery and cyberpunk which tells us about a struggle, uneasy choices and hope. The development of the storyline wholly depends on selections the player will make in the game. Support us on Steam GreenLight and Indiegogo! THE DEMO VERSION OF THE VISUAL NOVEL “EYES OF GODS” IS AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD! One of them is the Order who keeps under its heel a puppet government and another one is the Alliance – a gang of yesterday’s bandits who decided to take power. What way to choose ? Who has truth behind him? Should one reject the old rules and rely on the ideas of the future ? The truth is to be looked for in the tricky tangles of people’s destinies, hopes and vicious desires. And what about gods ?... The Order uses the faith in them for its black deeds. And the main asset of the Order are no donations from millions of believers but children born with black eyes. These children are called "seers" because they can see the future and look within the mysteries of the past. It is believed that the seers are chosen by gods and that the Most High watch mortals through their eyes. From infancy the seers are taken away from their families to the Order where they are given to drink potions depriving them of their consciousness. To the regret of the Order, only a few are born seers so scientists try to create "the messengers of gods" artificially, by means of experiments. Certainly, nobody believes in a fairy-tale about the divinity of black eyes anymore, except for the desperate ordinary people who have nobody else to ask for help. But who knows, what if the gods watched for real?... The player is invited to walk through his way with Luca, a hired killer who was born with only one god’s eye. You will have to decide on what party to join in an unfolding conflict between the Order and the Alliance, and also to determine who really Luca is – a simple murderer or something more. Early concept Music A composer has written magnificent soundtracks that you will be able to enjoy during the game. We invite you to hear some fragments of the soundtracks from the novel. https://soundcloud.com/ryrpzexntvku/sets/eyes-of-gods-1 Characters Luca Luca is the main character. He earns money being a hired killer. He has only one “god’s eye “ that he hides under a blindfold. Luca doesn’t want to enter the war (doesn’t matter whether it’s for the right cause or not), his own small world, far away from the Order’s intrigues, is good enough for him. However, one fact changes everything… Early concept: Dora Dora is a victim of the Order’s unsuccessful experiments in an attempt of creating« the seers » artificially. She managed to escape from the Order’s facility when she was ten and she first met Luca in the slums. Dora has a sweet temper but a strong will. From child hood she decided to fight for the Alliance where she found a shelter and a refuge. Early concept: Cloyd Cloyd is a former military man whose sister was a seer. He has been hiding her from the Order for fifteen years but in the end he couldn’t save her. Cloyd has a harsh temper, his own codes of honor, and he won’t stop until he achieves the intended goal. Early concept: White Lady The White Lady is the first leader of the Order. Cruel and mysterious woman, she thinks that she controls the balance of powers in the country. She got her nickname for her color preference in clothing. Early concept: Garey Garey is the leader of the Alliance. He is physically undeveloped but very smart. In the past Garey was a professor of a University, and in his spare time he created his own drug dealing net. Even though he hides himself behind words of virtue, he only cares of himself. Early concept: Spider Spider is the deputy of the White Lady, the second leader of the Order. He is smart, charming, able to find an approach to people. At the same time he is diagnosed with alexithymia (he can’t understand and almost doesn’t feel any emotions). If he had an idol – that would be Hannibal Lector. He is acquainted with Luca. Before joining the Order he had worked with Luca for two years. Early concept: Leland Leland is the third leader of the Order. He loves ballet and makes considerable donations for the needs of art, he also supplies arms. He was married five times but none of his wives could outlive the first year of marriage. Leland is sure that his ancestors were aristocrats. He collects porcelain dolls, five of them have faces of his deceased wives. Early concept: Astra Astra is the fourth leader of the Order. She dreams about taking the place of the White Lady. She has three children ( all girls, she adopted each of them). She favors the illegal organ trade. She was the one who caught Cloyd’s sister. Astra suffers from fits of melancholy. She doesn’t see the sense neither in her and nor in others’ lives. Only the fight for power helps her to distract herself from painful thoughts. Early concept: Abby Abby is Luca’s friend, who he has been raising since she was ten. She is a cheerful girl. She dreams of a new life for her and for Luca. She saves money for moving to a different country. Early concept: Nancy Nancy is a popular seamstress in the slums. It was precisely her who found Luca and raised him like her own son. Nancy is a rather rude and simple woman, she values her relatives more than anything. Art About the project - Follow the hitman’s way who is able to see the future and to look within the mysteries of the past. - Make selections that will effect the storyline. - 12 main and 7 additional endings! - 2 possible love-affairs! - 20+ exciting musical compositions! - More than 60+ unique backgrounds and 60+ CG - scenes! - The game will be available for Windows, Macintosh and Linux.

  4. I was mostly referring to after story, though I agree that Kotomi's route was by far the best out of the entire school life part, I loved it If you liked that route, you might like Planetarian, since it was written by the same person (also, it's short, it sounds good, looks good, has a very unique kind of story and atmosphere and is without a doubt my favourite thing. Ever.)

  5. As a director myself, I can confirm that it's pretty much what Funyarinpa said. Example of stuff directors take care of would be: - How many sprite expressions? Which expression should be used for this line of text? Should we create a new expression for this character? - Do we need a CG here? How long should it stay on screen? How many variations? - Does the music fit? Should we change it? Should we create a new OST that fits better the mood? Should we rewrite the scene so that it can fit one of the OST we already have? - Should we add sound effect during this particular scene? - Does the game have an internal coherency and logic about how it does things? (Example of inconsistencies: One CG for each heroine except one; one OST that is used nearly all the time compared to the others; character screen time that doesn't reflect their respective importance in the story; SFX of a school bell ringing one time but not the next time, etc) - Does the game make good use of the assets and doesn't force creations of assets for a one time thing? Example: creating backgrounds that are used for only one scene in the whole story.

    ^ That. It's amazing. Also, you should check out Eden* if you like planetarian. Slightly similar feel, and the story is just so, so beautiful.

  13. Well, that's actually quite a lot, but if you wish you may try ToHeart 2, Konosora, Dracu Riot (3 of 4 route were already translated), Little Busters, Noble Works, and Koichoco. I think those games had happy moment quite a lot (Although I didn't know about the sex scene though), but sometines it still had some drama. Well, hope my recommendation help and had fun.

  16. Started this on a whim, and I think I'm in the middle. And I really like it. Protagonists it's what really 'makes' this VN for me, just as similiar to me, as it could be in 'vn protagonists' style. He's still a little 'empty case', but I like how he is nagative towards robots, Lucy herself, how he gets angry at her airheadness, (and smacks her head), and his overall views of the world just matches mine. I also like father. He's a strong character, with his own personality and I like that about him. It's not that I like him as a human being (because he's kinda an asshole), but as a character in game. Another thing I like very much is washing machine design. Looks great! Shame that laptop and tv don't have any futuristic tweaks to their desing (it's 2050, right?). The thing that I probably like least is Lucy herself. Uncaused cheerfulness is a trait that somehow angers me, when I see it in human beings, and especially in characters in various media. Just not my thing. She's also an airhead, so another point down. But she is what she is, and her personality procures interesting thoughts that protag makes, interesting themes to think of. And that's always appreciated, in any media. So, hopefully it wont suddenly take a turn for the worse, because I really want to grade it high. It's just...pleasant.

  17. Just for kicks I played a bit of 3 when it came out, and the gameplay was very tedious and boring. These games are essentially nukige, the main point is the h-scenes and you will not get a particularly compelling story out of them, nor will their gameplay enthrall you. You play to fap. I guess the dialogue was slightly amusing from time to time. I stopped pretty much after beating the first boss in 3 (and losing to it, a couple of times, you know, for the very interesting "plot"-filled bad ends), so maybe things changed, but that's not how it was looking.

  19. Can't speak for Grisaia specifically, but generally (at least in my limited experience) the role is kind of variable depending on the game and company (and a few different JP terms get translated to the same thing sometimes). Sometimes the "director" (ディレクター) is sort of just a project manager role––they're responsible for organizing pre-production planning materials, ordering and keeping track of assets, assisting in voice recording sessions, organizing promotional material, etc. Sometimes it's more of a scripting-related role (usually 演出) focusing on scene presentation within the game and things like that. But still other times it might be a more creative/supervising role, "directing" the game (監督), but that usually comes with an additional credit for planning (企画) or something similar.

  20. Fk Decay, I almost spit out my drink, goddamn I forgot how hilarious Makina's H-scenes were ~~ Finished Van Helsing's route in Code Realize This fker was so hard to break. Throughout all of the secret organization conspiracy plots and the "I don't deserve happiness" self pitying and the RAWRRRMUSTHAVEMYREVENGE!@# going on in this route, these two steadily build their relationship from mutual alliance to "i guess this person's pretty cool, especially compared to all the other pricks I met in my sad, lonely life" to "WE'RE NOT FRIENDS!@#" and finally the following l0lromancelogic: Ya asshole, she loves you and you love her, so stop trying to pull the whole "best way to protect each other is to distance ourselves" and go fight the world together!@# POWER OF LOVE!!!1 Though, to be fair, Cardia can die on plenty of occasions; this game has a lot of 50/50 "in the moment" choices during combat scenes ._. so his worries are justified.

    What are you playing?

    All of Makina's h-scenes are among the funniest h-scenes I have ever read. They're pure comedy gold. I love them to death. edit:

  22. In the Japanese industry, I believe that a director is responsible for directly overseeing production of a VN, like a manager, making sure they do their jobs and it all fits together and the final product is up to standards. A lot like what Diamon said, although I think a director is not always involved in details of the script or music. A director generally has to answer to a producer, who indirectly oversees production in the course of handling the financial side of things, including handling new hires and making sure the director doesn't do something like put NTR in a moege and cause it to bomb. The planning phase is also important in VN development, as many of the basic decisions about the direction of a VN are often made in that phase by one or more people. Nakazawa is both the director and producer of Root Double, meaning he theoretically had absolute authority over the VN. That said, he didn't personally write the text (except maybe some small parts uncredited, I wouldn't be surprised). Instead, he relied on his scenario writers to do that. I think that if GundamAce were here, he'd recall some of those staff interviews he translated in which the Tsukishima brothers and Nakazawa talked about what roles they played, but I don't. However, I think the strength of Root Double's writers was in making the story work, not leaving any plot holes or inconsistently characterizing anyone or messing up their prose in any way whatsoever. They have a very deliberate style which perfectly suited the needs of a mind like Nakazawa's which comes up with such elaborate stories, but in my opinion someone like Uchikoshi would have to written more endearing (beyond simply likable) characters. In any case, even if Nakazawa is the director and has a clear vision for the VN, the actual writer/s may have a lot of influence in determining the details. By comparing to Zero Escape, it's clear Uchikoshi had a lot of influence in Ever17 and Remember11. Romeo's route in I/O also heavily focuses on his pet theme of alienation. Having read all 3 of the Secret Game VNs (KQ/SG/Rebellions), I don't know exactly how much influence Nakazawa had over Secret Game as director, but well, Secret Game is just an expanded version of Killer Queen. The setting wasn't drastically changed, and the depth still can't compare to the Infinity series. I think that Nakazawa probably had a negligible influence during the planning stage. However, for Rebellions, another VN that he both directed and produced, the game itself feels very cohesive and complete, just like Root Double did, and certain plot elements remind me of his work. Root Double's writers also worked on large parts of Rebellions, and it's easy to recognize their style.

  23. Calling someone a "Director" is kind of vague in this business, honestly. At least part of the directing job people have described above would probably be the producer's job in larger-scale game development. Checking the text for concision and such would traditionally be the editor's job in other writing. Scene direction (transitions, sprite pose changes etc.) can be done either by a dedicated guy or just the writers themselves - I'm not sure if this job has a well-established name, but you might call them scripters in this capacity (and that means something different in translation work... yay).

  24. Onto Chapter 9 Code Realize This shit is pretty entertaining, during this entire quest to find out more about Cardia's mysterious past, her father Isaac, and the eternal heart Horologium engraved on her chest, we go on train abduction missions, lethal air balloon races, raid Queen Victoria's ceremony, and have all these tense confrontations between iconic names (Frankenstein vs. Queen Victoria, Lupin vs. Sherlock Holmes, Impey vs. Nemo, Van Helsing vs. Pseudo-Dracula's kid, and even Cardia herself will get a shocker confrontation against the game's main antagonist). And now my Cardia just got kidnapped by Jack the Ripper. like wtf, HALP!@# e: do not resist, 'less you want a Red Screen of Death ;-;

  25. Pretty much that, about the YuujixMakina thingie. The route tries to have its cake and also eat it. Please, do not fake in with a "I'm gonna be the parental figure she needs", and suddenly go balls-deep into retarded pseudo-incest. But oh well. It's a main character in a VN, so she HAS TO be fucked. Trying to have both things at the same time ruins shit, and so happened. If she wasn't a child both in and out, it wouldn't have been so retardedly very-much-Japanese.
