Anime Central Speculation and Announcement Thread
Basileus777 and 4 others reacted to Decay for a topic
If you don't think Ixrec's translation is worth reading, then don't read it. If you think it is, then pay for it if you can. I'm not sure how you can justify any other argument.5 points -
I'd like to take my time to thank @Down for going out of his way to make this dream come true. Without him, this probably would still have happened. But I'd also like to dedicate this thread to all the people who have supported me over the years on Fuwa. Without them, this great achievement wouldn't have been possible. OriginalRun, who at the time of this thread is still dead after having fought in the Indonesian war in 1336 where he was decapitated by Somalian pirates. Your awful memes will never be forgotten. RIP in peace. @Dergonu who likes so many of my shitposts I have lost count. You're the real MVP that helps propagate my spam agenda. @Kaguya who's one of the first people I interacted with on this forum and who I formed an alliance with many times to annoy everyone else. @solidbatman because he creates the salt with which we run Fuwa every day. @Fiddle, official provider of skeleton gifs and overly verbouse posts. @Tiagofvarela who has a nice accent so he gets mentioned as well. @Tay for creating this amazing platform we all complain about daily. @Kiriririri, the only person who understands VNs without moe are all worthless. @Ceris, who's still stuck in Love Live hell and who I hope will one day recover from the trauma. @Monmon, who helped me discover my addoration for traps and realize their superiority @Nayleen @madvanced who still puts up with me in classes My mom and dad who are probably really disappointed in me. My cat and my 2 birds. Jun Maeda I would like to close off this entry in the Fuwa logs by officially declaring Fuwanovel as a Marxist state. This is now, for all intents and purpoes, our official flag: Thank you all for making the rise of the proletariat possible. I will be consulting with Kim Jong Un soon in order to decide the future of Fuwanovel. Sieg Heil-desu I hate my life.4 points

If eroge would exist before the NEC PC's...
Chronopolis and one other reacted to Narcosis for a topic
I had to scrap this unfinished cg and thought I might as well share it, so you can more or less see the whole process. Initially it doesn't really look that clean and lacks the dithering, I typically add later. I'm already looking into a faster way to draw c64 retro art on modern software, so I wouldn't have to do everything manually; paying attention to every single pixel out there is quite exhausting (that aside, aspect ratio issues are even worse). Project isn't abandoned. It went on a slightly longer hiatus due to my late health complications, but I resumed work on it a while ago. Engine is nearly done and capable to replicate all the cool effects, which were typically used on C64. More info at a later date. I'm preparing some preety cool stuff.2 points -
So here I was about to finally start Amnesia: Memories after spending years of internal-conflict-deciding to bail on Fate/Stay (dw, I'm planning on reading it this summer for sure, trust me ) But then I remembered Root Double exists, so I'm going with that. ~~ I also went through The Leisure of Grisaia. HeheheheheHEHEHE, it's been too long. You can pretty much consider it an extra chapter 30min ~ 1h in length that could be tossed into Grisaia's common route. 'Cept it's girls-only, and they're full of hormones, so take that as you will Hah... Meikyuu + Rakuen needs to come out already.2 points

Hopefully you will find something redeeming in it - I will admit, while I liked most of the characters in TB, I would say I never really felt very invested. With the exception of one certain character, (but that would be a spoiler. ) Needless to say, I found that character to be really well done, and conveyed a bond I was emotionally drawn into far more then anything else in TB. As for Comyu - I dunno, I couldn't forgive it for it's choice of storytelling, I felt like I was robbed of half the VN's setting - what with the completely random side-stories that consisted as the other two routes. I had esp. high hopes for one of those characters, whos' story turned out to be reallllllly weak. @Canicheslayer I really should try starting up KnS1 again - I stopped shortly after: Loved Cartagra though, was the first "dark" VN I had read in ages...last being...Muvluv I think? wow, 4 years...that really did leave a mark on me, huh? lol.2 points -
Legal issues importing physical eroge to Norway
BookwormOtaku and one other reacted to sanahtlig for a topic
Here's some advice that will work anywhere for any game: Find a shop that sells porn where you live. Ask them to stock the game(s) in question. Offer to pay up front if necessary. They should be happy to do this for you--as long as the content is legal to import. Advantages: They're a porn stop. Selling this stuff is their job, so they should be aware of all the applicable laws in your area. They're assuming the legal risk for you. They may also have established protocols that help avoid unnecessary scrutiny by customs, minimizing the risk of the shipment being seized.2 points -
Seriously? You seriously want to risk being labeled a sex offender (even if the stigma isn't as terrible as it is here) just because you want a physical copy of Euphoria?2 points
-
I did what I normally do when I want the answer to a question: I consulted Wikipedia. The relevant entry is: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pornography_in_Europe#Norway I'd recommend not trying to import this. Buy it digitally. I didn't check the sources listed in that last line (they look like they're in Norwegian), so that's the next step if you want to continue investigating.2 points

Just finished Steins;Gate 0. Overall I give it a 9/10, whatever these numbers might mean. I liked it the same, if not a bit more than the original Steins;Gate - it explored parts of the story that didn't really need fleshing out in a way that was surprisingly entertaining and in the end earned its place in the series as a true sequel in my eyes. Having finished the VN I've decided to check a walkthrough out of curiosity. I was pretty shocked by getting the true route on my second way through - but as it turns out, the first route I cleared, a route that felt so good that I figured it had to be the only thing you can get at first because of how well it set everything up... that route not only hides behind several triggers, but it is also the only ending required to unlock the true route. You see, you can get any route but the true route right from the start... but somehow, I ended up clearing the only relatively hidden condition to unlock the true route on my first way through, and ended up getting the true ending on my second way through, completely unwittingly and unintentionally. Given how ambiguous (but not nearly as difficult as the S;G ones) the choices are, I really don't know if I have good luck, or just the worst luck ever.1 point

Sofmap usually sells second hand copies for dirt cheap. It's usually a good deal because the copies are essentially brand new but their market value goes way down because they're theoretically second hand. Ren found a copy of Clannad for 570 yen once lol.1 point

Have time for another VN [Suggestion Poll]
TastefulSardine reacted to littleshogun for a topic
Well, looks like you had time for chuuni games. Anyway, if I might give personal recommendation Seinarukana and Aselia would be good (As long as you didn't mind harem situation and could understand the gameplay). Tokyo Babel was also good and full of action, while Cho Dengeki Stryker was like super robot eroge. But since we had vote here, I think if you had slightly problem in harem, maybe Cho Dengeki Stryker would be suited to you (Although there's still had harem element though. Probably). Well, hope it'll be help.1 point -

Final update, in all likelihood So, the team behind the translation has decided to edit their progress thus far and are preparing to release the patch, which will cover little over half, or around 44 percent of the VN That's that, folks There probably won't be any more updates regarding the fan project, so this will be changed to the official translation and discussion thread Good riddance, and until we meet again.1 point -

Just more of a reason to follow our weekly VNTS - you would've known about this weeks ago. The game isn't my cup of tea but some people really seem to like it. Personally, I think it's a bit over-animated and the general style is a little off putting.1 point -
I got my stuff from Character1~ The Kazuko and Yukie shirts are awesome! Also came the First Press Editions of Majikoi and Majikoi S. If you wanna build up some tolerance against The Darkness, go Corpse Party -> Swan Song -> euphoria (jk don't) Gogo finish up KnS!1 point -
Well there are several Youtubers that play vn's on their channels like LostPause or TheAnimeMan, you'd have to limit yourself to all ages or censoring the fuck out of whatever you play and also other rules that apply to youtube. It's not easy but could be done I guess also lenght might also prove a bit difficult when it comes to keeping up the interest of the audience, if you're charismatic or provide great commentary maybe would work but there's also copyright issues which may get in your way when playing things from Sekai Project for example, there's been cases when they only allowed youtubers to play only until a certain part of the vn. I know i'm probably sounding super pessimistic but I know it's not easy to do but if you can pull it off then it might be great. Best of luck regardless1 point

Yes, the game is less funny when everybody is experienced, but the point of the game isn't comedy, it's teamwork. The feeling you get after completing a hard mission is awesome, when you fail on something stupid, it's funny. At the end of the day, you feel accomplished that your co-operation was great and you defused a bomb at the literal last second.1 point -

Finished Kara Shoujo - The Second Episode. Clearly a wonderful sequel to KnS...and Cartagra. I prefered the atmosphere, the mysteries (and the horror scenes) of the first KnS, but I must admit KnS2's plot and art are globally better (especially Art...the CGs ). In the same way, I really loved the relation, the link between the two protagonists. Otherwise, the True End is just...terrific : I want KnS3 9/101 point -
It's true there is always SOME risk, and they might even arbitrarily call you to prove you paid for that item (see The Journey for Salami), but from my experience, at least in Portugal, customs doesn't care that much about what's in the package, they mostly care about the information on the invoice. But if you really can't find much info, and if Norway really has explicit laws on this type of content, you might want to reconsider.1 point
-
Check your postal office's section on forbidden items and how they handle them, that's where I found this information. They will never play the game obviously, that's why I said all that matters is what they see on the cover. It also depends greatly on who's checking the package, but really if it's not a gun or drugs, unless there's some crazy precedent in your country, it's unlikely they will bother much with your package. They probably won't even take it out of the box, they'll just open the box to see what's inside and if it matches the description on the invoice. And you probably won't go to jail either way (unless the game is classified as child pornography in your country I guess). Worst case scenario is they dispose the item. My uncle was caught mporting illegal pharmaceuticals and he didn't go to jail, they simply disposed of the package.1 point

One thing that I've consistently noticed about around ninety percent of the VNs I've played is that they tend to be personal stories, even when they are large in scale or not overly focused on the characters. A protagonist, a heroine, a villain develops on a personal level, the story flowing through their point of view, effecting their way of seeing the world, altering how the world effects them. VNs where the events are not intensely personal to the characters or where there is no specific protagonist are rare, and this at least partly because of the fact that VN narration is almost never carried out by a third-party uninvolved or only peripherally involved with events. This is contrast to the tendency in modern novels for a story to be filtered through dozens of different, almost 'disposable' points of view (ie: Game of Thrones, Malazan book of the Fallen) that contrasts with that preference. This is a function of the way the medium works, at least from what I can see. The habits and conventions of VNs include the protagonist not possessing a tachie and the protagonist being the narrator, at least part of the time. Multiple points of view share a similar tendency, with each point of view having an individual, similarly limited point of view in the narration. In my mind, this actually shows that VNs have a potential to evolve far beyond their current uses. It gives me hope that VNs will one day take their place as a true unique medium for storytelling, rather than a completely niche branch of video-gaming with an overwhelming tendency to possess gratuitous sexual content. At the same time, I'll probably be one of those resisting change until I get swept away by a particularly awesome epic story, lol. I want to see VNs evolve, but I am particularly unsuited to helping them do so, due to my long experience with the medium. In other words, I'm too deep into the medium to see it properly from a near-outsider's perspective, except hypothetically. This is more of a message to those would write OELVNs than anything else. I want to encourage yall to break the boundaries created by the Japanese example, while keeping the elements that made the medium so attractive for us. There are things that the Japanese just don't do as well as Westerners, and I'd like to see those concepts, themes, and ideas creeping into this medium to make it of an even greater scale here than it is in Japan someday. Sincerely, Clephas1 point
