It's not "people" it's "certain people", everyone's different. The problem is that "nudity being evil" has been the status quo for a while, and it's much harder to fight against it than to change it. But I agree nudity by itself shouldn't be worthy of censorship, sadly it's seen as a perversion by many and will likely stay that way. If humans still walked around naked maybe you'd have a case for yourself, but because we decided to invent clothes and cover ourselves up, eventually our naked bodies just became this stigmatized thing to be hidden by default. Culture!

To put another way, the ability to make games is completely different from the ability to play and evaluate them. Being good at making games does not give your opinions on what's good and what's not any more weight than people who are clueless on game development. On the contrary, I find that most developers who try their hand at games criticism end up having way too biased of a perspective to fairly evaluate them. They end up relating with development issues that other developers might run into and soften their criticisms as a result. But the fact is, criticizing game development is entirely different from criticizing games. Now, if we were to actually criticize the game development processes, I'd agree that arguments from experienced individuals hold the most weight. But that's not what we're doing here. What we're doing is simply saying "I think this is good" or "I think this is not good." The game development process has nothing to do with this evaluation and no additional insight into that process will make us better equipped to make these judgements. Because they are, after all, highly subjective and based purely on our own emotional responses to the games in question. Anyone can give these opinions, and they're never wrong.

Translating H-scenes sucks. It's boring, plain and simple. The longer they are the more annoying they get to translate. It's the same patterns over and over with little to no variation. The sound effects are often random as well and have no real purpose to them (vaginas don't go gyuuu). Basically most translators don't want to do nukige because it's just not fun.

Japanese can seem prudish about sex, but they are actually not, or were actually not. (At least lot less than western countries at the time). In Japan there's this thing about Public face and Private face concept (omote/ura). Japan is still a nation who celebrates fertility and other things related to sex through festivals displaying giant erects penis and such. They prefer to an exterior occurance happens then they can justify the decision of getting rid of it. If you look into japanese boards like 4ch, there's people who hope some vn and anime get licensed in foreign country rather than send complains to the governement about supressing the law. There are also people using the law at their advantage for distributing 'illegal' uncensored content (ura douga), of normally censored porn videos, this market is big in japan and is highly related to Yakuza protection and such. It's an extremely lucrative market which can earn millions to the people who do it. I am playing it for 3DS, same way I played VLR. Chunsoft was not cared about 3DS in the slightest, as there is even no stereoscopic 3D, that was completely worthless to buy it, unless for completion sake to have all versions. Full motion approach was quite bad decision, actually, even without speaking about horrendous quality of these cell-shaded animations, my main complain is that I have to wait for actors to voice their line, without any way to skip it forward... Drives me mad, I would be able to read all that for 10 hours, instead had to waste almost 20... So far only bright side was puzzles, as they are easier to solve than some inhuman ones in VLR, which I spent half a day to solve. Here is max you will spend is about 15-20 minutes (at least in my case), which is good balance. Story I do not like so far. Lets see the ending...

What you can do for some of the translated titles is look for steam releases, as those are all censored. (Some do have manual patches, but you obviously don't want those.) You can find stuff like Princess Evangile, If my heart had wings, The fruit of Grisaia, The Labyrinth of Grisaia, Nekopara and much more on steam. (These are all games with 18+ content removed on the steam version.) Other than that, very few games actually have the feature you are talking about. I'm sure some do, but playing those games simply because they have the function seems pointless... why not just play all-ages games? (Looking for an eroge that has a funtion to skip the H-scenes is a little bit strange, when you can just look for popular all-ages games instead.)

Picked up Zero Time Dilemma yesterday, if that even still counts as a VN at this point. Got an ending in the first 5 minutes of playing, 10/10 playtime truly worth the money. No but really, it's pretty interesting so far. Here's hoping for Uchikoshi not falling back onto his usual plottwist.

Why does it matter? Do you never complain about bad food? Or boring movies? These are games made for us to enjoy. There is actually no one better equipped to critique them than ourselves.

Femshep is objectively 5 times superior to maleshep strictly because, and I really hate to say this, of the voice acting. When I play maleshep I have to mute his monotone arse, it's quite the annoyance, whereas femshep comes with a great variety of tone to fit every situation. I can leave the volume on when I play her, so I only play her. Unfortunately you can't romance Tali as her, but c'est la vie.

IT HAS FINALLY ARRIVEDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

I've stalled from finishing School Rumble for around 5 years now. The most fucked up part is that a couple of years ago I rewatched it, but stopped at the same part I did the first time. School Rumble is a special case for me because it is one of the few comedy anime that actually gets me to literally lol. So because I really really like it, I never wanted to finish it, since I knew that would make me really sad. I have like 3 episodes of the 2nd season to go before I finish it. I'm sure I will rewatch it again, but I'm not sure if I will ever finish it. The same exact reason is why after a whole year I still have 2 episodes of GTO left. I found the show legitimately funny and don't want to finish it. I only seem to have this problem with comedies btw.

Yuri does indeed offer quite a different type of story to normal eroge. First off, you have a female protagonist, which makes things quite different right off the bat. You can get a bit of a fresh and new protagonist, without the totally overused traits you see in every male protagonist ever. They also usually have voice acting, which is very nice. The games have a new type of humor opened up to them with a pure female cast, which is a breath of fresh air as well. In my opinoin, the romance tends to be better, yes. (Now, this part really is just pure subjective opinion.) I feel like yuri romance is a lot sweeter, and a lot deeper most of the time. (Sadly, a lot of the translated yuri titles tends to be nukige, or short, plotless stories. But even in these cases, I really like the romance more often than not. If you want more lengthy stories with more depth, you have to move into the untranslated side of things.) A lot of the time, yuri stories will be pure love stories, and not a plot driven story with romance on the side. This can be both a negative and a positive point, depending who you ask. It opens for a lot more time to develop the romance, and a lot more character development/ growth, but at the same time, it can get boring as there is usually nothing but slice of life moments, which can get tedious if you aren't a fan of that. My favorite part about yuri love stories tends to be the, "when do they move from friends to lovers" stage. It's usually really sweet and enjoyable, and much better than standard boy x girl romance. Also, lastly... although it's a really shallow reason, yuri H-scenes tends to be great. (If you are like me, you are tired of the "please, if it hurts too much, please tell me. No, it's okay protagonist-kun, I want to become one with you." Blergh ...) It really does come down to prefrences though. If you don't really have an interest in girl x girl romance, then you probably wont enjoy yuri, (obviously.)
