Hello there, Recently I just published a 2D character CG generator tool via itch.io (demo versions are available) It's currently in early access state, with development status and plans available for public via Trello. Mannequin is a template-based character CG generator; by making it I'm hoping to make development easier for both non-artists and artists alike. For non-artists, you can generate a production-ready quality CGs just by mixing and matching templates, adjusting the colors, then instantly export the result to a PNG file. For artists or someone with experience using vector drawing programs, you can export the result to SVG file (which can be opened using Illustrator, CorelDRAW or Inkscape) and make your own custom modifications. Included below are some screenshots: Let me know what you think! -- Quick Links: itch.io Store Page | Public Trello Board | Devlog on Tumblr5 points

Greetings, folks! I've been hanging around the chat for a few days now, so some already know me, but putting that aside, I'd like to shortly introduce myself to a community of fellow VN readers =) I live in Czech Republic and am going to finish University (Bachelor) this year. I've read over 60 VN titles, so I suppose I've been at it for quite a while. I usually read them in Japanese, but I'd like to point out I'm not fluent in Japanese enough to easily read Kanji. I'm rather fond of heartwarming or simply happy VNs (doesn't extend to whole VN content, but I appreciate being rewarded by the ending), and I absolutely detest VNs that have anything to do with Guro or similar monstrosities. I do though read bittersweet VNs at times, so that topic's not beyond me. I'm fairly knowledgeable in books too and am a vivid gamer (usually games that have a story to it). I've been writing some novels myself, but due to perfectionist strikes and low self-esteem, I eventually ended up tearing them apart except for my most recent project, that I'm rather determined to finish without tearing it apart. I've been a part of YWS (Young Writers Society) for a while and am fairly confident in my criticism and writing skills, so if anybody wants to share or have a discussion over writing, I'd gladly keep some company. I figure that's enough for a short hello Thank you for your company, Nintaidou~4 points

This is one of those things I stand defiantly against the masses - people had the same gripe about Michuru's route near the end of GnK1. Sexuality IS a emotional experience, and some times it exists for comfort, and as a salve - not just pleasure and "fun". For example - and it might be tmi for some, but it adds weight to my stance - my exs father had passed away, and after the funeral we celebrated his life with a small party. Once everyone had left, she asked me to stay the night. Not because she was tastelessly hot and ready - but because she wanted comfort that words could not express. That aside, replying to your post prior to that: Shame on you for looking up spoilers Still, hope you end up enjoying HF. It's by far my favorite arc. I personally feel it builds up to a satisfying, emotional conclusion. (Sakura is not my favorite girl (though I also don't hate her like some do), but her story is by far the best). I wouldn't worry too much about Fate Hollow being too dark - it does have its moments, but it has a lot of laughs mixed in too.4 points -

New front site is live! Note: logins are restricted to a closed beta, but you can go through the site, now. Please see this blog post: http://fuwanovel.net/2016/07/new-fuwanovel-site/ Feedback Survey If you have a second, I would really appreciate your feedback on the new site. You can find a quick survey here. 7/10 Updates Fixed/Addressed: @Nosebleed - Change the rounded sort-by-release-type section on http://fuwanovel.net/visual-novels-browse/ - Um. No. But thanks. I'd prefer to see you suffer. @Silvz- "New releases are showing stuff from 2014" - I mentioned this in my post. Right now I've only uploaded a handful of games to see how the site does under load. @Silvz - Moving twitter up - I'll definitely play around with this over time. Right now the twitter widget isn't working very well, anyway, so I'm going to eventually scope out other options. @Kenshin_sama - Strange options in the feedback survey - If it was perfectly implemented at-launch, it just wouldn't have that buggy Fuwanovel goodness. ; P @Silvz - Search bars for custom post types (reviews, VNs, etc.) - Excellent point. Should be coming later today. @kingdomcome - Fixed with a crappy, temp fix. Thanks! @Decay - Forums VNTS menu item broken - Fixed! @Decay - One Small Fire Review is missing - Restored! @Decay - VNs retain odd information - Yep. Post time is actually useful: it'll be used to mark the game's or patch's release, so that'll stay. Author, however, is something a bit more complicated. It'll either be removed, or it'll be switched to represent the patch or publisher of the game. @Decay - SonoHana games reviews section oddities - Yep. I've already addressed that in each of the Sono Hana games' description section. It'll be specific to the SonoHana games, and isn't something I expect to do with any other games or series. @Decay - Game page layout with possible sidebar - I agree with you, and that's been my plan for the games pages: having an integrated sidebar with those bits that runs down the right side of the page, while removing the true sidebars. That's why the individual VN pages' sidebar is empty atm. In-Progress: @Amuzie - Request Desktop Site - Hm. You can do this on your phone's browser, but you're looking for a link/button on the site itself to do that, right? That's something I'll need to look into. Right now the site is set up to be responsive by design. @Decay - Review Header Images Problem - I'll get them all straightened out today. I have to edit some stuff about each review, anyway @Decay - Limitations of WP games pages vs database - Well-said, and exactly right. A fuller database implementation IS coming, but it's something we're going to need to save up for. I collected a grand total of 22 bids to do the front site coding, and for what we wanted, the bill was going to be between $7000 for a relatively inexperienced coder to $25,000 for a mid-to-top-ish tier developer. (Just going to stop and point out that @Nayleen would absolutely qualify as top-tier, and consistently donates an unbelievable amount of time to help us out. We're very, very lucky to have you, Nay. Thank you for all you do.) I'm scoping out custom coding to get a custom plugin to pull from a custom games DB and feed into a design template we can modify at any time. So that's where we're headed. At some point when things settle down and I can publish an updated site financial report, I'll try and put all of this down on paper. But, yeah, we're saving up for that. This is not the final solution. 7/12 Updates More Updates: Back-end permissions are all set up Email system is up and working. (Well. Probably working. Updated sidebar game picks and July's Game of the Month Rough-ish and prob temp fix for front page slider Some limited updates to VNTL-Moon Some aesthetic fixes Went through and fixed all FuwaReviews. If @solidbatman or @Decay want me to re-do a few banners to 16:9s (or so), just let me know which ones. I think the long banners are mostly okay. Some of Ryechu's are ugly, now, but they're part of the nukige series and I didn't feel like looking around for alternatives. The other one I can remember, Decay's Euphoria, actually looks kinda cool. But just let me know. Updated reviews back-end Minor emotional breakdown Figured out the problem with the Twitter section on homepage (Answer: Twitter sucks) Fixed and updated some podcast issues Fixed reviews hub display bug on really, really old android devices Tweaked some settings to improve performance Sat despondently in a near-empty room, pondering the Academy section VNTS podcast now has almost 700 downloads! (link) Next Up: Import email subscriber lists Customize and add search options Take a look at Decay's game page stuff Set up alternate layout options for custom post types to remove authors (etc.) from game pages and the like3 points

No, not in that way, you sick perv Is there such a thing as a VN in the vein of Usagi Drop/Yotsubato!/Amaama to Inazuma? something that goes seriously into the relationship between single parent and child? Father/daughter is preferred, though mother/son etc works too. Also, I'd prefer if it was the central theme, but again, not necessary I've become a huge sucker for this kind of thing lately, so I'm really curious Also, me no Nihon squiggle read Thanks!2 points -

Fred the Barber and one other reacted to Clephas for a topic
My beginning was Tsukihime and FSN. I first played them in early-2009, about the time when my anime fansubbing 'career' was reaching its height... and fansubbing itself was beginning its rapid decline due to the fact that Crunchyroll's basic subs were getting good enough that their streams were beginning to dominate. Tsukihime was an eye-opener... it had never occurred to me before that combining visual and audio elements with a novel-style narrative could be so interesting. I instantly fell in love, and within six months, I'd read every localized VN that existed at the time. In late-2009, I was introduced to Translation Aggregator... and I began my VN-reading 'career' with Jingai Makyou. That was a Spartan baptism of fire for VNs, if there ever was one... Though I already knew verbal Japanese, my first introduction to Japanese literary narrative was... educational, to say the least. Many turns of phrase, words, and grammatical usages that simply didn't exist outside of the written word were common in Jingai Makyou. I quickly realized that I needed to reassess my own understanding, and I reluctantly began the study of kanji I'd been avoiding like the plague until then. My second VN in Japanese was Dies Irae Acta Est Fabula. I was stunned... just stunned. I'd never imagined that a story that went so far off the deep end in fantasy could exist... and it was that VN that doomed me utterly. Within a month, I was spreading my 'wings', playing anything that I could get my hands on. I began taking contract work, instead of the one-on-one commissions I'd previously relied on, and I completely rebuilt my lifestyle around playing visual novels. To me, work rapidly became simply a way to pay to import VNs... and I'm afraid I went a bit crazy. The first three crates full of second-hand VNs that arrived emptied one of my savings accounts completely, and it was only after I'd spent somewhere in the range of twelve grand that I realized I had a problem. It took me the better part of a year to rebuild that savings account and 'adjust' my way of thinking to manage my new addiction. By the end of that first year, I'd pretty much read all the recommendations I'd gotten from friends and several bloggers. Sanahtlig was one of those people making suggestions at the time, but his tastes and mine only seemed similar on the surface, so we parted ways for a time (he's a gameplay-VN and H addict, whereas I'm a story whore). I was pretty much completely on my own until I encountered Fuwa in 2012... and found myself a home. I started my VN of the Month thread in September of 2013 and have been going strong every month since, playing the latest non-nukige releases every month.2 points -
Reflect on your VN History!
Kenshin_sama reacted to Eclipsed for a topic
Greetings people of Fuwanovel There have been many ups and downs on these forums over the past couple of years, Loligeddons, MIAs, deaths, 1 star reviews, rollbacks... But never mind that. ~~ Let's reflect on our individual histories and experience with VNs *INHALE* When I first started reading VNs in Spring 2014, I was a devoted follower to the Cult of Moe. The "happy feels" were just too gud to pass up. KonoSora - Ohh my gawd when I booted this shit up and A New World played, it really did feel like I was entering a new world~~ Little Busters HoshiMemo The partial patches of Noble Works and Dracu-Riot All things I considered top tier VNs during this time Then I reached the glory ages in late 2014, knocking out my current top 3: Rewrite, Steins;Gate, and Grisaia no Kajitsu. These three will forever be my holy trinity. Played a variety of VNs by Summer 2015: Symphonic Rain, Yumina the Ethereal, Princess Evangile (hihi), Eden*... ~~ Then something changed. Went in a VN hiatus over the Summer 2015, got absolutely massacred by VN Club's My GF is a President, and couldn't read any full on charamoeges since then. Got lynched out of the Cult of Moe. Descended into the Cult of Darkness, Fall/Winter 2015, Corpse Party series, Saya no Uta, Swan Song, Cartagra + Kara no Shoujo I & II, euphoria. Gud shit. Or should I say bad shit? Gud bad shit. Then tried to play stuff like Noble Works, KoiChoco, Koisuru Natsu no Last Resort, epic fail. New year-> Spring 2016 went into mystery/survival, Danganronpa 1 & 2, 999, Zero Escape VLR, Root Double. And Tokyo Babel's apocalyptic supernatural. Also Shikkoku no Sharnoth; bombed Gahkthun though. Also throw in a quick Lucy and an Otome (Code:Realize) and here we are, with me prepping up to destroy Dergonu in the fabled Koiken Otome Summer Race Bonanza of 2016. ~~ Overall I'd say my main preferences now are Mystery/Survival - They're just so thrilling to read, Danganronpa/Zero Escape series, Root Double was cool too. Also G-senjou. Sci-Fi / Fantasy - Great for epic stories; Rewrite, Steins;gate, ArNosurge, Code:Realize I can enjoy darker stuff like Kara no Shoujo & Swan Song, disliked 'crossing the line' stuff like euphoria though. Maggot Baits will probably rekt me. Hard. Moege is a thing of the past, can only read short stuff like Nekopara now. Chara(mo)ege depends. If there's no fantasy elements ie. Koi Natsu no Last Resort, chances are I can't read them anymore. Stuff like Dracu-Riot / Koiken Otome are where it's at for me now. Need something extra to make the mindless everyday slice of life and petty first world problems interesting, ya know.1 point -

Hello to all of you. First a little bit about myself. I´m Keigo, 29+ I live in Austria and in my free time I play games, read or watch animes. Favorite Animes: One Outs, Haikyuu, Boku dake ga inai machi Last I watched was "My Hero Academia" (wait impatiently for Season 2) I started with Visual Novels over 10 years ago through a recommendation of a friend. He recommended me Kana Imouto, really loved it. I play mostly Otome Games but also looking for great Story VNs whether the protagonist is male or female. I also play Boys Love VNs from time to time but don´t have any interest in yuri games. Don´t know why perhaps i should try one. At the moment i play Code Realize, Shuffle (only 1 Route left) and eden* They Were Only Two, On The Planet. I hope we all have fun together. Greetings Keigo1 point -
Other things that I was going to put on that list but forgot about: The filter selection boxes seem broken in Chrome, they only stay open for as long as you hold down the left mouse button on them. The VN section needs a search function. Once the VN count starts reaching the hundreds, finding a specific VN you want needs to still be easy.1 point

What is the most important part in a Visual Novel for you?
Darklord Rooke reacted to sanahtlig for a topic
This topic came up in the JAST forums recently, so I took a stab at it. Here's three factors I consider important in a VN: Interactivity: Mechanics that engage you in the world, whether it be gameplay systems or choices. Most VNs rate poorly in this area, and that's one reason they're not very popular in the West. VNs with highly branching stories tend to be more engaging than those that simply have you choose a heroine. Immersiveness: The ability of the VN to draw you into its world. Interactivity factors into this, but so do characters and setting. Games with intricate and highly-developed settings, like Eushully's Ikusa Megami series and Fate's Nasuverse, tend to be highly immersive. Reliance on tropes reduces immersion. Special effects and animation can also increase immersion by helping to bring the world to life. Sexiness: Sex appeal is at the core of the genre, which is dominated by adult games. The appeal of its heroines can make or break a game. A sexy VN is not necessarily a nukige, and in fact a cottage industry has arisen based solely on non-explicit fanservice (e.g., the Sakura series). Many VNs lack sexual build-up, and either bombard the user with sex (weakening its impact) or tack on H-scenes without first building up the sexual tension that would make these scenes cathartic. It's a rare VN indeed that excels at all 3 of these, which is disappointing.1 point -

Glad you found it interesting No, to this day nobody knows what has happened to her. I've contacted a few people about it, including Tay, and none of them know. As far as the internet is concerned, the username Aaeru is dead. My speculation is that all the drama she was causing and drawing to herself was too much for her, and she just wanted to escape from it all. So as a result she just abandoned the entire VN community. There are 4 possibilities that I see happened to her. 1) She abandoned the user name Aaeru, and is still involved in the VN community, but under a completely different username with no connections to her old one. In other words she made a clean slate for herself. Honestly though, I think this is fairly unlikely. Since there is no way she would be able to keep silent over all the bullshit that is going on in the VN community these days. 2) She completely abandoned VN and has moved on from the medium. This along with number 3 are the two options that I find most likely. 3) She still reads VNs, but doesn't pay any attention to the community anymore. 4) She legit died. This is by far the least likely option, but still entirely possible.1 point

I had the cliche start of Katawa Shoujo in the summer of 2014. The next notable ones were probably Homeward, Fault Milestone One and Katahane. Had a lot of shorter stuff and gaps in between before Danganronpa. Then I started spending a lot more reading VNs to the point where I would devour long VNs in a week or two. It was probably around here that I also lost interest in trying to figure out which choices to pick and just went with a walkthrough. Grisaia no Kajitsu became my favorite VN. About a year into VNs, I started reading some more well-known VNs (Fate/Stay Night, Demonbane, Symphonic Rain). Finally, I just finished Grisaia no Meikyuu (my 94th VN according to VNDB). Because of all this, I am now on a translation team as an editor and am starting the long journey of learning Japanese two years later. I also dictate VN music from time to time. I discovered my passion for yuri and romance/slice of life. My standards have probably grown higher than they were when I started. Now VNs are my time and money sink, but I enjoy it. Now to get back to my absurdly large backlog...1 point

What is the most important part in a Visual Novel for you?
Chronopolis reacted to Valmore for a topic
TEH LEWDS!!!!! Well, not entirely... I need a good story with well-developed characters. Even if the story is cliched, if it's told well, that's fine, as long as the characters are fresh. There also needs to be some sense of logic if you're basing it on things that are potentially real, i.e. slice of life, modern day. I can suspend as much disbelief as you want in sci fi, fantasy, horror, etc. But if you base something in modern times in something close to reality, you damned well better cover your logical angles or I'm going to rip into it. (My two main examples are Amane's route in Grisaia, which while written well, fails my logic test, and recently No One But You, which was a logical clusterf--k.)1 point
