Bishoujo Mangekyou - Mistakes were made and Prologue patch 2.0
mitchhamilton and 8 others reacted to Arcadeotic for a blog entry
Well, as most of you know by now, I completely obliterated all the links concerning BiMan1's prologue patch. This was because of two reasons: Because it was terrible in every possible way to put it frankly. In order to make room for this post. The prologue patch was bad, really bad. The sentences were akward, spacing was weird, translations at some points didn't even make sense, etc, etc. That's why I've been fixing the first quarter of the script; retranslating, modifying and editing the script along with perfecting the engine this starting and last week. Doing UTF-8, some hex editing, final image editing and resource editing. It was quite rough, but I finally got everything according to my wishes, and the price for my naivety has been paid back. Anyways! I present to you my hard work and labor: Prologue Patch 2.0 Probably another 10~ hours down to drain, but it was worth it. The new and improved prologue patch (or well, partial patch at this point, but whatever)! Features: - Completely polished and finished engine, fully translated by me. Includes all buttons, menus, extras and other minor things. - Music track names are translated, although I didn't intend on ever translating them. - Translates the dialogue all the way to the end of the first H-scene. - The two internal menus: Are translated to these: Things to note: - The dialogue text is not in its final version that it will be in the final release, so keep that in mind. The patch, however, shouldn't have any typos. - The amount of text ranslated in this improved patch is quite a bit more, because I wanted something more grand and of course, to make up to you for the travesty that was the original prologue patch. - The text after the first H-scene will continue as Japanese, unlike the gibberish it was in the original patch. Sorry about that. - All of the previous prologue patch download links are now going to be replaced with this version's link. Download Link: https://mega.nz/#!C8FDiagC!xeW7-MPcjsZWm5ebycEnEXJ66y-Ld7H6ojTa0yYF4b0 Install instructions: Download the patch from the link above and open the .zip file. Drag & drop the new .exe into -呪われし伝説の少女-1, and data8.pack into -呪われし伝説の少女-1/GameData. Launch the game through the new .exe file and have fun.9 points -
I'm not a big fan of IPB since they don't follow any proper and modern standards (starting with pretty much simple SOLID principles, and ending with basic OOP practices), hence why I won't touch its code with a 50-foot pole. It doesn't allow extension in any sane way, their hook system is an entirely undocumented mess, and its updater likes to completely overwrite huge parts of the code base in a minor update. Any changes to moderation should be done with the tools at hand instead of trying to hack the software in unimaginable ways.4 points

A Visual Novel where your Heroines could be raped/NTR/Cheating
Kawasumi and 2 others reacted to CeruleanGamer for a topic
These fall on my top #1 and #2. #3 would be Sore de mo Tsuma o Aishiteru. Team Lune Bitters and ELF are your best source of publishers for NTR titles as well as ANIM.teamMM, the sister company of Anim which focuses on NTR/Corruption VNs. Also, very recent NTR that actually ranked rather highly and has the most absurdly long title: Tsuma no Biniku o Ijiru Chichi no Futoi Yubi ~Shiranu Ma ni Chichi no Mono ni Natteita Tsuma wa, Yorokobi no Aegi to Tomoni Koshi o Uneraseteita~ I just call it TsuBinChi Basically a very intense NTR Type B where the protagonist's wife, kouhai, and even his child (although only 1 scene) gets NTR'd by his father-in-law (not blood related). This is by far ANIM.teamMM best and longest NTR title by far and imo has the best NTR scenes in the whole genre. Also Blackmail, TONS OF FUCKING BLACKMAIL. Enough to fill your goddamn mailbox fo realz yo! Another recommendation I have is Tsumamigui series by Alice Soft with Tsumamigui 3 series being the best. It's like Oyako Rankan but leaning more towards the dating simulation side and has interactive gameplay to romance your waifus (like literally HOUSEWAIFUS, married/widow women.... thus the name when translated as "Wife Eater") as well as prevent them from being NTR'd. Also all the NTR paths/ends are avoidable unlike Oyako Rankan where there are some UNAVOIDABLE NTR scenes. Also, you are in luck. Tsumamigui 3 came with a spin-off game that solely focuses on alternate NTR paths of the game. You can buy that instead of you don't want to spend 50+ hours on the base game to satisfy your NTR appetite. Unfortunately NTR genre doesn't have a lot of translated titles either because it's such a niche genre or translators are pussies and don't want the backlash that would come from the vanilla cancer infected fools who spite on NTR.3 points -

Nocturnal Illusion Renewal Translation Project
Tay reacted to Nandemonai for a topic
Introduction Hello, Fuwanovel. I am Nandemonai. Yes, the same Nandemonai from the PP/Jast forums, and the Mangagamer forums (back when they had forums). A few years ago, I found out that the NI Renewal version is a thing, with improved gfx and voice acting. Since Nocturnal Illusion is still my favorite game translated in the early years, I was interested. I have some Japanese skills, so I thought I'd try my hand at translating the updated scenes. This wasn't possible for two reasons. 1) The remake breaks the scenes up into completely different file structure than the original; and 2) The original translation is just terrible. Mostly unusable, and basically unsalvagable. I'd known it wasn't very good, but was still surprised at just how "not good" it really was. Long story short, I decided to re-translate the entire game from scratch. That was in 2011. I finished up the translation some time ago. Unfortunately, the coders I was relying on to reinsert the translation seem to have dropped off the face of the earth. The Team 6/26/2016 Thanks to Ryechu for agreeing to be an editor! 7/10/2016 A (belated) thanks to Mad Pierre mnakamura for agreeing to do the port. Well, to be honest? Right now (6/19/2016) there is no "team", there's just me. However, I did not reach this point all by myself. I would like to thank Kagami-sensei for generously assisting me in translating various lines that were giving me trouble. Kagami has touched < 1% of the lines of the game, but they're all the hard lines. Thank you very much. I would like to thank the folks over at vilevn.org - BaSF, Fenris, and kile. Without their assistance, this effort would have gone nowhere. They showed me how to extract the text from the original Nocturnal Illusion. They extracted the text from the remake (which involved finding existing tools, and then fixing bugs in them when they didn't work right). They sadly seem to have vanished. The last communication I had from them was in 2014, where they hoped to have a new version of vile ready "in a few months". Thank you guys very much for all the hard work. Progress Translation: 100% Editing: 50% Let's break this out. Initial editing pass: (by me) 100% Second pass (by Ryechu Darklord Rooke): 24.9% 71.0% Last updated: 07/04/2018 Coding: Need Humanity (0%) This project is now recruiting. I need coders capable of getting the remade script inserted into something that runs on modern Windows. Also, while I did a second pass of the translation and edited on the way, it probably needs real editors. Update: In the rollback, an edit to this post got lost. Ryechu and Darklord Rooke have agreed to edit this, and Mad Pierre mnakamura has agreed to port the game to an engine he is working on. Misc Q. Didn't you say the translation is at 100%? Why 99%? A. Yes, but there are a few minor nits that - since I'm creating this page anyway - I might as well try to crowdsource some picks for. More details to follow when I have time to post them. As it turns out, I was able to figure these out myself. Q. What about licensing? Doesn't Peter Payne have Nocturnal lllusion? A. Indeed he does, and I approached him about an official release. He informed me he hasn't got rights to the remake. (I presume the original contract is somehow still good, but the remake needs rights that can't be gotten because the company hasn't existed in 15 years. But Peter didn't say.) Peter did say a fan patch was okay with him.1 point -
The Devil Is Not Home [18+] - Progress 8/31/16
Forgetful Frank reacted to Gauzra for a topic
Under development by EggDev. Synopsis Satan has urgent matters to attend to and must leave Hell! He is unsure that the demons will properly live up to his expectations in his absence and be able to truly represent what Hell is. To remedy the situation he decides to issue a true test of demonic will power. The Chaos Championship An all out competition between the three highest ranking demons in Hell to see who can destroy and spread what Satan will deem as true Chaos. The victor is offered their very own circle of Hell to rule over. An entire domain personalized to their tastes, no request too large! Faced with this irresistible offer, Jaya, Meridia and Kijo agree to undertake the challenge in order to prove which one of them is the greatest demon in all of Hell. The Demons Meridia Resident bookworm and owner of the nicest hair in all of Hell. A stern believer in rules and an aspiring writer. (Rumor has it her books aren't very good) Her ghostly companion follows her wherever she goes and tries to keep her safe. (Emphasis on tries.) She decides that using demons is the best way to win the Chaos Championship. What better way to raise Hell than using Hell itself? Sprite Jaya - (PROMO ART COMING SOON) Brash and difficult to handle, Jaya acts before she thinks and has a huge appetite. Physically the strongest of all demons and she is usually seen bragging about it. She decides to invade Heaven in an attempt to win the Chaos Championship. Sprite Kijo The demon with the split personality. Incredibly lazy and always wanting to sleep. Everything is too much of a hassle and she has a difficult time controlling her sudden personality flips. Ends up drawing the short straw and has to go to Earth in order to attempt to win the Chaos Championship. Sprite Other Characters Coming Soon! The EggDev Team We are a married couple that has dabbled in gamedev before. One day we decided to actually devote to it when we were able to afford a sandwich from our old crappy flash games. Gauzra In charge of all the writing/music and actual programming of the game. Fortunately I've got a bit of experience with audio and music and have worked in IT, giving me a somewhat rounded skill set. Zombzilla The in house artist. Been drawing since she was about 12 or 13 years old. Huge work load on her for all art assets but we are progressing at a rapid pace. Additionally responsible for ghost writing and catching any mistakes I make. (There are a lot of them.) Progress Report - 6/28/16 Progress Report - 8/31/16 It's been a while since we've posted an update, we recently moved states and it took us about a month to finally get everything together and back on track. Never fear though, we've got a mockup teaser with a completed background. Hope you guys enjoy bright colors! Social Media and More Little bits and pieces of our day to day work can be found on Twitter, Instagram and Tumblr. You guys should follow us for instant updates! Twitter Instagram Tumblr We are planning on completing an 18+ version and a SFW version that will be hopefully releasable on Steam. There is also the possibility of taking our idea to kickstarter but there are no solid plans for that in place yet. At least not until we have more completed CG's and are further along production. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this! Stay tuned!1 point -

This is not a response to any particular incident, but rather an approach to handling and preventing future incidents. Technical hurdles may be involved. I still think it's worth looking into. Current approach: Suspend/ban the user(s), lock the thread, hide/delete posts Why this is not ideal: It chills discussion and obstructs the exploration of alternative viewpoints. It becomes difficult to discuss potentially controversial topics, which are often the most interesting and worthwhile discussions to have. Proposed approach: Ban the offending individual(s) from posting in that specific thread Why this is better: It punishes those who deserve it and does not affect everyone else (unlike thread locking). It removes the offending individual(s) derailing the thread and allows the discussion to continue (as opposed to locking the thread). It's a more permanent solution than hiding/deleting posts, which can allow the fight to continue. The punishment is lighter than a total suspension so it can be used more liberally. For these reasons, I think this would be a useful tool in the moderator toolbox.1 point

thanks to @CeruleanGamer having been the more fast one my recommendations are now obsolete. not much to say, just try reading those mentioned above, especially lune bitters has quite the cool lineup. anyway, just in case you´re also looking for sth more archaic, go for bishop´s titles, as they know how to deliver stuff in a good & believable manner. lots of chicks are getting abused/harmed in a sexual manner and it´s mostly none other than your fictional self (mc). almost the same goes for some of lune´s other titles such as jutaijima & fuurinkanzan (GO FUCKING READ THAT ONE!!!). aside from these you might want to look into silky´s jokei kazoku series, you might... edit: ALMOST forgot mentioning isaku´s /shuusaku´s/kisaku´s literary superiority in every possible regard. it´s raw, it´s ugly, it´s archaic urges at their very best - pretty much the genre´s deconstruction par excellence. simply wonderful! edit2: on another note waffle´s yabai! has a certain nostalgic flair about it, you know, that glorious depiction of rape/physical violence as it´s been originally intended, unlike the vanilla-lized travesty it turned into over the past years, like when rape still wasnt sth to be enjoyed , but used for eradicating a peoples body & soul instead. edit3: wouldn´t include the tantaidans in the list of ntr-focused titles by default, simply because there´s way more to the pretty cool series, than its trait of sexual abuse. basically saying you´re going to be dissappointed if that´s the only thing you´re looking forward to. otherwise go for it, it´s well worth the invested time.1 point

Basileus777 reacted to RikiSanic for a topic
I think the failure of this campaign is a combination of a lack of marketing (launching the campaign a few days before Anime Expo was a bad idea that resulted in any traction slowing to a halt) and an overestimation of the demand for this VN. It's been fan-translated for a while now, doesn't have an anime, and even though it's well-regarded it doesn't have anything close to a fandom like Grisaia or Muv-Luv. $140,000 as the base goal is asking for a lot, and the stretch goals are practically impossible. It's a shame, because I would've liked to reread this officially and with a better translation, but it doesn't look like it's gonna happen at this rate. At a lower goal and with better planning this could've been successful. It's got a good average pledge per backer, but not enough reach to reel in the necessary number of backers. The whole thing just seems like one big miscalculation.1 point -
Ye, lots of them charamoeges have "true heroines" (I like to call them "poster heroines") and Akane definitely fits the bill for this one ~~ @TexasDice I also got what you meant by your comment about the VN being "small talk -> exposition dump -> next scene" now. It flows, but it's... not very entertaining. Hence why we're all agreeing that reading this gets better the further you get along (character routes > common route) I'm starting Akane's route now... finally. e: Ya, it's been too long since I've read these types of stories... I'm actually finding it quite endearing how Akane is playing the lovestruck avoidance game >.> All that training to harden Akane and help manage her emotions / douryoku -> blows up as soon as she gives Seiichi a handshake...1 point

DMM games use a different executable file than the normal package version. That's probably why VNR can't find the right place to hook. You can tell VNR where to hook by finding the right H-Code for your copy. This is easily done by comparing the pirated version with the DMM one. Look at which place VNR hooks the game, then search for this bit pattern in the DMM release and hook with the same H-Code at this new address. You probably didn't crack your pirated version correctly if it crashes after starting. But I don't have the game so I can't reproduce the error for you, sorry.1 point

That's the name of the in-story band, so it doesn't really explain anything. I always just presumed that it's milktub (bamboo's band) with additional session musician friends of theirs. But good luck finding anything more about them. AirI does Kirari's vocals, unless I'm massively mistaken.1 point
