  1. It seems like everyone does these when they reach some milestone, and I kind of missed the fact that I passed 2k posts (and 1k likes, yay). My last shitpost like this was when I reached 1k posts I think, so it's been a little while. Instead of mentioning half the forum and saying why I love everyone, let's do something different. (Well, it's not really different, as everyone does these, but I haven't done an AMA before so it's different for me at least.) I have basically been here bothering you guys for a year now, so now you can ask me anything you want, (like, "can you please leave?") or whatever. It has been a fun year, (and I somehow managed to pump out 2k posts in that time, phew.) Anyways, here is to another year of shitposting! Go ahead and ask me something below, serious or not, and I'll answer. Adorable pic from Tsui Yuri, cuz why not.

  2. Ever17, route 1 - Tsugumi. Whaaat a boring piece of shit. 5.5/10 would be sufficent grade. Nothing ever happened, and in few moments (because not even 'scenes') when something interesting was mentioned, like in a tag game when it was abruptly cut and never mentioned again. Terrible writting. And that ending? Laughable. Tsugumi herself was an edgy, emo, horrible character. Not worst piece of shit ever, but it was painfull to interact with her. And although her 'problem' was interesting, it wasn't enough to emphasize with her enough to made up for her annoying quirks. But I loved when near the end protag finally And protag himself? What a moron... At first I started reading Kid/You route (went as far as repairing reactor during blackout) and he was much much more smarter that Takeshi. All those stupidity around not understanding made me cringe. I'm really affraid about Sora route. But okay, next will be Sora route I still have hope that true route will be as great as everybody is saying it will be. But... I got spoiled. By creators themselves. After the route were the credits. So thanks for that... fuckers. But despite that last thing and Tsugumis' character I'm not annoyed by this VN. It's boring but overall pleasant read. Well, maybe not 'pleasant' but it's not making me angry, it's not insulting me. Like f.e. Period did. Next thing - I'm a little dissapointed by 'themes' Also - it have worst translation I ever seen. A lot of errors, mistakes in gramma, spelling or even translation errors like in 'turing test' -> 'tooling test'. And last one minor thing - start of the routes are much stronger in Kid side. Everything is explained deeper, clearer and reading all those more advanced explanations in his routes after Takeshi routes and their shallow explanations is probably not a very good idea. But as you all said, the story and mysteries will probably flow better in Tsugumi->Sora->You->Sara order.

  4. Well I just skipped thorugh 'common route' with Sora scenes (I'm right after the 'makeup' scene) and... I like it. I like new scenes and I like Sora. So hopefully next 2,5 hours I have left of her route will not be a drastically downgrade of enjoyableness. And I hate Tsugumi even more, at last in her route there was no sudden, uncalled gutpunching.

  5. I did a review of Shinikiss a long time ago for FuwaReviews, check it out~. Shizuku was the redeeming factor for me overall, but, as with many Alcot games, it wasn't something that increased its score much. http://fuwanovel.net/reviews/2015/01/12/reformatted-shinikiss-review/

  6. Just throwing this out there, but if it's an option, I'd encourage you to get that Steam copy of Steins;Gate refunded and buy the JAST USA release instead. I've seen a lot of gripes with the Steam release in the short time it's out: bugs added back into the game that were fixed, bad line breaks, incorrect TL of phone buttons, and a horrible font choice. The only thing it's got going for it, the higher resolution, is apparently just an upscale of the original graphics (i.e., they didn't have higher-resolution originals to pull from), so it's not actually any better. It's not gonna be terrible, by any means. It's still the same fantastic game and the same great translation (aside from the phone menus, like I mentioned above...). But the JAST USA release is apparently straight-up better. Oh, and, FWIW, while Flowers is a solid VN if you're up for a nice melodrama, Steins;Gate is an unbelievably good VN, and I'd prioritize it way higher than playing Flowers, even if you've already seen the S;G anime.

  23. The amount of XP you get is divided by the number of party members. So yeah, you earn 4X XP by yourself, and even one other person cuts your XP in half. I consider this a pretty big flaw in the otherwise-stellar game design. The game clearly intends for you to only use this to go thru previous dungeons to train up a bit; but it's just too good not to use it all the time. The designers spent so much time and effort building in cool stuff for your allies to do, especially in P4G (where they added a lot of cool customization). Hell, a major theme running through the story of both games is the impossibility of doing it alone, and how you need help (that's the whole point of the Social Link system to begin with)! But your party members are so weak, and the battle system so disproportionately tilted towards being high level above all else, that you really are worse off if you have anyone around. (And I like those 'pathetic weaklings'. P3 and P4 both have great casts of player characters. I can't point to even a single one that I didn't want around in my party. I just didn't want to actually take said party into the actual dungeons, because they kind of suck at them.)

  25. Because Rose is rather boring. Alicia was at least interesting. The only interesting one, at least. I made it like 20 hours in the game and quit. It's the worst Tails game I ever played. It's almost like they put zero effort into the characters, usually Tales strongest point. That and the story is as cliche as you can get. Also finding Trails in the Sky vastly overrated. 5 hours in and I've had a few moments that made me smile, but the combat is pretty boring, the story is below average, characters are great, and art is great. But a poor story and poor gameplay make me not want to contineu.

  31. Completed multiple short vns in jp. Narcissu, True Remembrance and Phenomeno . They have english translations. But I am like: "Eng vn's? What's that? Do you mean OELVN?" <Jp only 4 laifu, I haz no choice> Completed Baldr Bullet as well. Rather interesting read in the context of it being the first "baldr" game. It's rough in the edges. Really short but with a lot of stuff put into it. So it feels rather like.. Why didn't they do more here? They don't go too deeply in the setting and such either. Making the experience feel light. Leaves you a tad too unsatisfied, combined with the short length of the vn. Still. It was an enjoyable ride honestly. Good action. Funky sci-fi stuff, although it was sadly gone over too quickly. Good old Baldr gameplay. Military setting, I love that. Also most H-scenes have like 6+ CG's in 2 mins *laughs*. This game feels a bit like BSZ in how the plot and people are really silly. But it has sci-fi stuff and setting is interesting. But BB gameplay keeps being fun and doesn't break. Also it doesn't have much "pointless" scenes either. So I found myself enjoying BB more than BSZ, even with all its flaws.

  32. i kinda love it when it's well written and not pointless. some stories are not meant to have a (sappy ) happy end ,and it's forshadowed since the beginning of the game in most of the case i've encountered. and even if it's depressing ,it shows how well written the game was in a sense...

  34. Even if Sekai Project doesn't license any more nukige than they do now, this is still a very valuable partnership for them. All of the major titles they announced this year have adult content; this is par for the course in the visual novel industry, obviously. Sekai Project knows this, and they know people want the adult content. Being able to sell the adult version on a potentially lucrative platform is a necessary negotiating tool if they want to secure the adult version for future releases. In all likelihood, if they didn't make a partnership like this, then we'd be stuck waiting for Denpasoft to become a viable platform before adult versions for every release would become a reality. I also don't think this is the death of Denpasoft, though. Like Chrono Clock, many future titles could be timed exclusives, and Denpasoft would be the go-to place for people who don't want to buy from Nutaku. Regardless of how things turn out, this is still a better direction for the 18+ side of Sekai Project. If it becomes a success, I don't see any reason why SP wouldn't focus more on adult VNs. Money is money, and they are a business, after all.

  35. Swan Song for sure. The POV switches a fair amount but the main protagonist fits this perfectly. eden* also features a stoic protagonist, and is a well respected, short-ish single heroine romance story. As much as I hate the protagonist in Wanko to Kurasou, he fits the bill here. edit: Crap, you already played this one. Not only that, it's on your list of protagonists that DON'T meet your criteria? Dude is cold as fuck. Uhh absolutely not either of these, lol. One of the biggest aspects of Cross Channel is how the protagonist is completely unable to control his emotions and impulses.

    LET'S TRANSLATE!!!

Considering the thread starter has dropped the translation project, this thread has suddenly become as useless as underpants in a nudist colony ... and probably just as unwelcome. Should probably be locked before the eye-stabbing starts ... but not before the beard pulling. Beard pulling is always entertaining. Good luck in your future projects, PUBAK. While you're not at a good enough level yet to translate, I'm confident you'll eventually make it. You have a good attitude and don't take criticisms personally.

    LET'S TRANSLATE!!!

There happens to be this wonderful metric called the proper usage of the English language? And you say his line of thinking is toxic, but quite frankly the kind of blind worship people around these parts have for literally anyone who attempts a translation, entirely regardless of quality, is what is more toxic. The way communities evolve, and get better at their craft isn't by giving people a gold star and telling them they're great just for literally trying. Like, hell, imagine where sports would be if people never thought to get better, and just accepted their level of skill when they were say in middle school. Nobody is telling anyone they can't and never will be able to do something, just that people ought to realize their own limitations at the present and not do something that they quite frankly are not cut out to do. By putting out a god awful translation for a game you're essentially stepping all over it, which should bother you if you have any amount of respect for it at all. If you care about a game, should you not want people to get a decent, enjoyable experience out of playing it? Do you not see how it would greatly hamper an English readers experience if you spit out barely coherent sentences? I mean, if you want to translate, all power to you, but you should strive for a damn higher quality than the level of horse shit found in the Flyable Heart translation. And if you know you can't put out a decently respectable level of translation quality, you should wise up and stop.

    LET'S TRANSLATE!!!

@Infernoplex reeeaaaaly thanks for the efforts you put into helping me.I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart. <3 and thanks for the advices, encouragements and also discouragements. I am aware of this fact that my English level is not good enough to satisfy everyone.(and probably if I go with this kind of translation it would become something like the english version of "kono oozora ni tsubasa wo hirogete" which moenovel released and everyone (including me) had their minds overheatd after reading it... but don't worry. after reading the comments I realized that I should stop for now Until I reach my translation level to an acceptable point that most people would approve it. @Decay thanks man.I'm grateful.these kind of comments are what I need to realize my weak points and downsides. and also @Yascob thanks for the time you put into your reply.they are useful. (this comment became somewhat of a thanks letter.) well I won't give up on this VN so easily but first I should do something about my TL. I hope that this game will be translated so if there was some other project that wanted to translate this VN in the future, I would be really grateful if any of you notify me.

    LET'S TRANSLATE!!!

@PUBAK - Sorry, I can't read the script files, they are archived in a different format and can't be extracted, I don't have a single clue on how to read it. As for Decay's advice, I think he has a point but don't take it the wrong way, putting your time and effort into fan-translating a VN and then releasing something hard to read shouldn't be your goal. I didn't want to mention that but your TL of the intro does look like it needs a retranslation, I don't know Japanese so I can't really say anything more about the matter. As for the encouragement part (I guess Decay was referring to me), I think that everybody should get a chance. Maybe I am bad for trying to encourage people into doing something they might not be able to accomplish but I certainly don't want to be the guy to tell them to stop. I had one very negative experience in my past when I tried to discourage someone to do something and since then I don't try to do that anymore. Besides, some people tend to get all fired up even more to do something when you tell them to stop, so I kind of avoid doing that, it's of no use telling that to some people. Another thing of note is that even if you released a total garbage of the translation, you wouldn't be the first one to do it. Though you should really try to improve your Japanese skills, if you really want to bring something of use and to feel a sense of accomplishment. It's not really useful if your translated sentences are hard to understand.

    LET'S TRANSLATE!!!

What would you say your Japanese skill level is at? I'll be blunt, your translated intro was pretty shoddy. I understand and appreciate your enthusiasm, but your efforts are misguided here. You do not seem capable of producing a translation that is of acceptable quality even for the low standards of fan translation. I very strongly suggest that you drop this endeavor. edit: I have to say, I'm actually pretty shocked and heavily disappointed at the amount of encouragement that's going on here. What's happening is akin to someone encouraging some frail kid to go toe to toe with Mohammad Ali. This is just irresponsible at this point. I'm sorry PUBAK but you are simply not ready for translation yet. Furthermore, to translate the work with the above level of quality is both disrespectful to us and the original creators of the work, it's so bad. Please stop.

    LET'S TRANSLATE!!!

@PUBAK - Okay, I have an update for you, I have checked out the game and it uses YU-RIS engine ... which is kind of a bad news for you because I never worked with YU-RIS (it's kind of a shame that I didn't work with it, some popular VNs like euphoria uses it) ... I tried looking for some tools and it appears that on this forum there were people that were working with YU-RIS and from what I have gathered it is kind of a hard engine to work with but not impossible to crack ... So far I have determined which file houses the scripts and I tried a tool that I found and I am not sure right now if it worked ... The file you are trying to get is called "ysbin.ypf" that is located in the game's directory ... The problem right now is that I have yet to determine the version of the .ypf file, the tool I found was last updated in the middle of 2014 and this VN was released in 2015 so I don't know if this tool actually worked, I managed to get .ybn files out of it but I am not sure how to read them, I am getting gibberish when I try with the text editor though on some spots I see clear English words like "SOUNDINFO". "ANTIALIASING" and similiar, I guess that's from the Options menu or something like that ... I will try fiddling with it but don't expect too much, you are kind of in bad luck for picking up a VN with this engine since it isn't that popular with fan-translators ... I will try to find more info, the VN itself looks interesting and I'd like one day to see the translation of it Edit: The version is v464, I just found out.
