    What are you playing?

Currently reading Steins;Gate and It has everything I'm looking for in a Visual Novel, anything actually regardless of media. Superb story line with flawlessly written character along with their individual character development between one another. Captivating events/scenes/art/music I love the music, with intense realistic logic adapted into an already sensible world that brings everything together without question. I'm no big fan when it comes to high use of realistic hard physics in shows and genres I watch and read but after getting through the slow points (the build up to the game) I am having loads of fun especially when they bring up theorems to support their reasoning throughout the story. If I could I would beige read this game to the very end and not stop until I was finished but life sucks...I played my first run without a walk through (I find that more intriguing when I run into endings I wasn't expecting) and got Suzuha's ending (which I really enjoyed from beginning to end.) If this story continues on this path that made me spend 8 hours of my day off just reading nonstop then It'll be in my top 3 when it's over. I have a few people to thank for the recommendation. I'm having a blast.

    Donald Trump Megathread

An article about how Trump is, to Americans, what America has been to the rest of the world Mainly posting this here because I know politics interests quite a few people around Fuwa. I found this article to be ironically true, well written and rather unnerving. I particularly loved the small paragraph about Hitler. Here are a few quotes:

  8. when i say 'based on' I really mean emotional equivalent. the kind of emotion that would lead a child to say 'you just don't get it' would would lead a more mature person to say something like 'if you don't like the genre, why do you even bother criticizing it?' which is a lot more intelligent, I think

  9. Narcosis has the right idea, but the onyomi/kunyomi rules apply primarily to words, not people's names. There really isn't a rule when it comes to Japanese names, hence why in say a legal Japanese document, in the name field, you have to write both your name in kanji and then the pronounciation, otherwise even a Japanese native will often times misread the name.

  10. For some reason, I can't like your comments, it says "you are not allowed to give reputation to this user" ... Anyway, thank you for the link, some of the things mentioned there I already knew and some of the things I didn't ... I bookmarked the site, it looks like it has some interesting Japanese materials, I do collect this type of sites for my study of Japanese. Reading through the article you linked and my analysis of the Kanji name, now I think I semi-understand why (菅原 空美) is read as Kanbara Sorami: 菅 - (On-yomi: カン、 ケン) (Kun-yomi: すげ) 原 - (On-yomi: ゲン) (Kun-yomi: はら) 空 - (On-yomi: クウ) (Kun-yomi: そら、 あ.く、 あ.き、 あ.ける、 から、 す.く、 す.かす、 むな.しい) 美 - (On-yomi: ビ、ミ) (Kun-yomi: うつく.しい) Kanji readings obtained from http://jisho.org/ ... I hope it's not a problem I increased the size of the text, this way kanji can be examined better. Looking at it like this, it seems that last name "Kanbara" came from the combination of one on-yomi and one kun-yomi reading (somehow はbecame the "ha" with dakuten marker). And "Sorami" came from the combination of one kun-yomi and one on-yomi reading ... Though I have no clue how one decides which one to pick, it could also be "Sorabi" xD ... I am maybe misunderstanding some things, I am sorry if that's the case, I am still in the learning phase so I really try to learn this stuff in the best way that I can. My current knowledge of Japanese is some low N5-N4 stuff and I did learn all of the Hiragana and Katakana as well as their writing and reading ... As for kanji, I learned like 150-200, of the 2000+ standard ones that must be learned. The only kanji that I knew of earlier in this name was 空 ...

  11. Getchu page says it's 菅原 空美 (かんばら そらみ). so Kanbara Sorami is correct indeed. I don't really know why Jast translated it as Surugawa Sorami. Do the characters actually use that name when they speak (as in, voiced lines).?

  12. I really liked the Saber Alter fight, but beyond that I can't watch anything past the first season - just way too skeevy for me. (And that's coming from a huge Fate fan and slight loli affectiendo) Be curious to read your thoughts when you get around to the rest - I've refused to even look in it's direction, but maybe a sound mind can convince me otherwise.

  19. I finished Bakemonogatari, and it was mind-numbingly good. Immediately picked up Nisemonogatari, which I'm taking my time with. In the meantime, a week or two ago, on a day when my brain was absolutely fried and I was completely incapable of doing anything requiring thought but still needed to burn a few hours before going to sleep, a friend suggested I watch something cute and mindless, so I picked up Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya. I finished the first season last night. Not bad, though the loli fanservice felt pretty skeevy at times. I was again reminded that Taiga is the most underappreciated character in the Nasuverse (and Rin is fantastic, of course, but everybody knows that). My favorite part was the very first ~three minutes of the show, where it showed Illya leading a normal, happy life, which is pretty hard-hitting if your most recent recollection of her is the Heavens Feel F/SN true ending, and if you're a feels sucker like me. The rest of the show was fine, and definitely had its moments, especially when Rin took center stage. I'll probably pick up the later seasons and keep feeling skeevy about watching it.

  20. SP being slow is another myth. Translation speed varies greatly from game to game, MG and SP are more or less equa all things considered. Some titles are translated very fast (Clannad, IYLMTSS), some very slow (DC III, Himawari, WEE). The slowpoke of VN loc. industry is definitely JAST USA.

    H code?

in some psp games you can grab the text (VNR does this for you) and some of them you can't, you need to try using cheat engine with this method to see if the text is "hookeable" (don't know if that's even a word xD) or not http://mx-futhark.github.io/hook-any-text/demos/demo01/presentation.html you can also try using chiitrans with ithvnr in case vnr is too much of a pain to use
