  1. "Hello Backers, This will be a short update as we've been focused on getting The Labyrinth of Grisaia 18+ version ready. However, we're not able to make our last month's "End of December" release date due to the holidays. However once the holidays are over we will continue to focus on getting the game ready for release. We will keep everyone updated on future developments in 2017. We hope everyone has had a happy holidays." to be fair, christmas did come out of no where this year. who could have predicted it?

  7. I bought this and Rance on a whim the other day after what I can only assume was a holiday high (excitement) after seeing one was released and one was coming soon. I was hoping Da Capo III would release by the end of 2016 but was sad when it didn't but it got pretty damn close so all's good. I was not expecting it that early in 2017. I am excited for it and I have to agree with what people have been saying. Mangagamer has come a long long way from when it first entered the market. Hell it's essentially the main visual novel company of choice these days since they release games uncensored/uncut/at a decent speed/no drm/quality and quick, and generally seem to know how to sell to the consumer and what we as consumers actually want. They also have found a means to appeal to the story oriented fan and the fap fan. Hopefully this game actually ends up being decent.

  13. FINALLY. I have absolutely no idea how this is going to play out (I mean, I do, but that wouldn't be fun..). However, as seen by Nekopara's tendency to subvert a little (the sexy gyaru character turned out to be an imouto ffs), I feel like Cinnamon will turn out to be hard S or something. Despite being my favorite design, Maple so far has been really boring. She's sassy, but not as sassy as Vanilla or Azuki. I hope she'll turn out to be interesting in some way (worked for Coconut). Based on that screenshot, it seems as if Cinnamon and Maple have something going on between each other (although, I personally predict that the two pics of them as kittens are a red herring; I believe these CGs will be flashbacks from the protagonist's POV). What I'm asking myself, who getting the short stick this time? So far, Nekopara has stuck to one H-scene for each character and a group scene with two of them (Vol1: Chocola -> Vanilla -> Both, Vol2: Chocola+Vanilla -> Coconut -> Azuki). So if we stick to this format, are we getting a group scene with the four previous catpanions, followed by one Maple scene and one Cinnamon scene? Or will we get three scenes with two cats each? Or simply drop Chocola and Vanilla for this one, because they had the most scenes until now? What about Shigure, how will she fit into the picture, if at all? And if all of them are in bed together, WHO'S DRIVING THE BAKERY?!?!

  14. Having played Higurashi, Umineko and Rose Guns Days, i felt like a big similarity between them was the theme of distrust. I'll try to explain while giving as less spoilers as i can, but be careful just to be safe. For Higurashi: For Umineko: For Rose Guns Days: So, can you identify this theme in Higanbana and Iwaihime as well? Or do you feel i'm mistaken? Edit (jan 4th) - Having played Higanbana:

  20. Because that "stupid 18+ release" is the way the game was originally created by Frontwing, and a lot of people are doing their best patiently waiting for said original version, but SP keeps delaying it which is quite annoying. That version doesn't have the priority at all; the cut version has been out for months. Meanwhile, fans who want the original game sit there waiting and waiting. I don't know how you could have gotten the idea that this version in any way has priority. In fact, SP openly stated that editing work on the text of the 18+ version, not even the port itself which is what is supposed to take time, had not yet began until after the release of the cut version in a kickstarter update. This is a kick in the gut to a lot of fans who want the real original game, not the cut version.

  22. They don't want to risk. Also, the possibility to fund a full fledged anime solely through KS funding is a bit of a stretch. OVA seems more reasonable. If it DOES get popular, we might see a full anime series in the near future. That said, everything here rests on the premise of "cute cat girls doing cute things" and cute, somewhat memorable character designs. Pure moe fuel, I've yet to bring myself to truly like it. It's that kind of thing I'm often very conflicted about, because it could be so much more, if they'd only want it to be... but they don't. No matter how cute it is, I'm kind of tired seeing the exact same thing over and over again; even cat girls won't help. Gist of the story.

  23. Hi there. Hope everyone had a nice Christmas . I played through Final Fantasy 8 a decade ago when I was a kid. Back then, I didn't know the enemies' levels scale with yours, so I leveled up to 99 thinking I was hot stuff. People say in that game, leveling makes the battles difficult, as the enemies' stats go up faster than yours. I never noticed it, because I looked up a guide and got most of the best gear, and I even defeated Omega Weapon. These days, and I prefer to enjoy games without studying guides. I've been replaying FF8 because I found out about the level scaling, and I want to play a game that doesn't demand level grinds. Some say the system's flawed, and perhaps it is, but at least it intrigued me enough to make me purchase the game again on Steam. Plenty of people hate grinding, but level scaling often comes with its own issues. It makes me think, why not remove the leveling concept entirely? Now I won't avoid random encounters, and when I die, I won't have any excuses about not being on a high enough level. What are everyone's thoughts on this? And if you've played FF8, I'll be happy to read your opinion on that game's system, too. Some people pick FF8 as their favorite in the series, and I've seen them get ridiculed online. Gamers have strong feelings about this one, so I want to know all about it. Thank you .

  24. Hello everyone! We have a special announcement today! Because of the holiday spirit, the team has decided to unlock TWO of our add-ons on Kickstarter. Today we’ll be unlocking our Digital OST, all songs created by Geoff Moore, and a newly designed poster by Darkenmarr. Our digital OST is $9 USD, so all you would need to do to add it in is adjust your pledge to include the $9 USD to you current pledge amount. The poster will be of a new design (TBD) by Darkenmarr and is set to $11 USD. If you don’t have a physical item tier, you will need to include shipping costs on to that. Please add $5 USD for US and Canada and $10 USD for the rest of the world on top of the $11 addition to your current pledge amount. We also would like to announce that we were Greenlit on Steam!

  25. According to Masamune Sakaki, a CG creator in the anime industry, an average 13-episode anime season costs around 250 million yen (or $2 million). He also made it clear that most anime can't recoup this expense, and the industry rests on the windfall of a few big hits. In a July interview, Takayuki Nagatani, producer of Shirobako (itself an anime about anime production), claimed that his show cost 500 million yen (or $4 million) for 24 episodes. In order to make it sell, he had to "advertise it, plan events, and make merchandise." Shinji Takamatsu, a veteran animator, cited a figure of 150 to 200 million yen ($1.2 to $1.6 million). "Expecting to make that up through disc sales alone is a hopeless business model, but that's how almost all late night anime are," he writes. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2015-08-13/anime-insiders-share-how-much-producing-a-season-costs/.91536

Not wanting to burst your bubble, but don't you have the feeling people are... how to put it - slightly bored with the common high school setting? You said you're afraid things are going to be stolen from your team, but the sort of premise you gave is literally what makes 90% of japanese vn's, so where's the "originality" you're afraid of being taken from you so much? @Darklord Rooke posted a really good excerpt from Holly Lisle's tutorial section on writing. I'd highly recommend reading it to get more insight into your work. It will help you start. That aside, I have no idea what were you all doing up to this time, but lack of any sort of even a conspect, not to mention a draft of the manuscript so far is slightly worrying, if there's really none (otherwise, you wouldn't propably ask for help here). This is not how you create a vn, unless you're still far from the pre-dev, focused on brainstorming ideas. That said, without any sort of leading traces to stick with, which are usually provided in a story outline, there's no real posibillity to move anything forward. Personally, I'd advise to either rework your idea into something else, or at least introduce some major plot-changing devices, which will make the mundane in the story (the high school setting) only a short starting point, not the entirety of a vn. Don't fall into the same pitfall many aspiring vn creators go into. You can do better than the japanese devs, trust me.
