    Today is my birthday

February 21st, in case your timezone is still on the 20th. Anyway, happy birthday to me! I think it is the third one I spend here on Fuwanovel and I must say that these past years have been great. Here I have met nice people, discovered new interestings (euphoria) and it is here that I can share the love for this genre with people with similar minds. Hope to get to next year with my whole backlog empty, although I think this is impossible in just one life.

    Hi Everyone,

Hi Everyone, I really can't explain when I started playing VNs (Galaxy Angel is considered a VN according to VNDB), but my first true VN was in 2010. I've been on and off with VNs ever since and haven't been deeply into until recently as of 2017. I moved to VNs from light novels after being disappointed with how authors choose to end their story (Happened multiple times). I am not sure how I found this website, but I guess it's the result of browsing too much online. I usually like looking for more information and resources on the VN titles that I have started playing since 2017 and it's always impossible to find. I play a mix of localized and in-localized titles and you can find some of my current lineup on my YouTube channel. I would like to increase my intake of VNs, but I'm busy as a student in the teaching credential program. I also need to increase my rate of MIDI production as well. But anyways, nice to meet you.

    Favorite protagonist?

Actually, you know, light novel protagonists are also often portrayed just as empty shells without any real personality, so it probably isn't only because of porn.

I think the self insertion aspect of it is a big factor. It's the same reason why most protags have no voice acting, and no sprites. People like inserting themselves into these "empty shells", pretending like they are getting all that hot 2D ass. I know I do. (/ω\) Well, this tends to be the case for moege/ charage/ pure love stories, at least.

  5. Hello everyone, as I mentioned few times already our group (re)started the TL project on "Pure Pure: The story of ears and tails" after FOTS translations abandoned this project (got in touch with the head of the project, unfortunately he had to stop because he has too many real life issues...) This novel is really old one (published ~2004) so many of you won't know what is it about but people who were in touch with FOTS will know. =) I will post time to time in this topic but for people who are interested in this novel we created a simple FB page. I hope there is still someone who is looking forward to this novel, because this one has caught me so hard I decided to found a group and finish it. =) Me and Sachi wish you the best Aki Update - 19.01.2019 Game version: 18+ Necessary program edits to run the English version - Done (All credit goes to FOTS translations) Main menu - Done (All credit goes to FOTS translations) Extras - Done (All credit goes to FOTS translations) Translation: Chapter 1 - Re - Edited - 42,71% Chapter 2 - Rough TL - Done, Proofreading - Done, Testing - 0% (Abyss Translations) Chapter 3 - Rough TL - Done, Proofreading ~ 0% (Abyss Translations) Hinata Route - Rough TL - Done (Route has two different endings), Proofreading ~ 0% (Abyss Translations) Tobari Route - 85,05% -> 88,79% Rough TL (Abyss Translations) Bad Route- 0% Miwa Route - 0% Total Progress ~ 91,15% -> 91,79% (Rough TL) Please note that the total progress includes the FOTS' chapter 1. 8. Technically Hughtto Precure since right now it's currently the only anime that I'm following lol. In regard of that, since one of episode review write about Galaxy Angel may as well tell a bit of my memory about the anime now that I remember it lol. So basically it was back at around 2007 and I saw Galaxy Angel girls wearing unique outfits that resembled magical girl outfit, so back then it was one of my motivation to follow that anime lol (Which right now i'm realized that it was just the gad anime). After 2007, more or less I just forgot about Galaxy Angel until I find about Galaxy Angel VN with two out of the three parts were translated, and the rest is history.

Also I think one possible reason for the frequency of bland MC's in VNs could be to leave the path open for multiple choices. If your MC doesn't have a really well defined personality then no choice feels particularly weird. That I can understand, but I would still want the MC's personality to develop according to the choices you've made up to that point, and while there are very well crafted VNs that actually do this, most just don't bother since it's a lot of work.

But I wonder if it's about making the story more immersive or just making the porn more effective? I've heard that many people insert themselves into live-action porn, so I can imagine it being only more prevalent when it goes to hentai games. Self-insert doesn't work for me in either way, so I'm always curious how others feel about it.

  12. Elysia Wentworth and Lily the Stranger from Shiei no Sona-nyl. Two amazing female protagonists in one game! And incidentally probably my favorite protagonists as well. I'm personally very fond of Elysia's refined and melancholic, somber demeanor. I really like Mary from Sharnoth too. ...And pretty much every other Steampunk MC as well.

    What are you playing?

You's route finished (well, at least the good ending). Man, I need some sleep Now onto Sara. Then I guess I'll go through the bad endings and finally, finally the true route to give some relief to this headache PS: Lol the pen scene.

  15. Not a single steampunk series MC option???? That's a shame... For otomeges, my favorite is Cardia from Code Realize. She starts lost and confused but grows a lot in the game, she's both a lovely pure maiden and a proactive member of the team when things gets serious!

    VN of the Year 2017

As always, I took a ridiculous amount of time considering candidates for VN of the year, this year. The final lineup of candidates were: Aoi Tori Kin'iro Loveriche Bakumatsu Jinchuu Houkoku Resshiden Miburo (I determined that it, to an extent, stands on its own enough to be considered) Suisei Ginka Haruru Minamo ni Eliminated: Yami to Hikari no Sanctuary (lost to Aoi Tori) Kanojo wa Imouto de Tenshi de (lost to Haruru Minamo ni) Oni ga Kuru (lost to Kin'iro Loveriche) Ojou-sama no Hanbun wa Ren'ai de Dekiteimasu (lost to Suisei Ginka) Explanation: While those five candidates made it to final consideration, I have to say for the fanboys that I never really seriously considered Kin'iro Loveriche for the final selection once those five candidates popped up. I reviewed my experiences of each VN individually, then compared them in my mind. While Kin'iro Loveriche is an excellent game, it just didn't match several of the other VNs on the list. If I split this into candidates by genre, though, I would consider this the nakige of the year. Miburo falls off for a different set of reasons... in fact, it probably wouldn't have made it to the finals at all if I wasn't a weaboo and a Japanese history freak. It is good, it is detailed, and the bloodshed is awesome... but if you asked me if its raw quality is at the very top of the list, I would have said 'In another year, maybe.' Suisei Ginka was a great game. I'll say that before I go through why it failed to make it through the final selection... actually, it just fails to get there because it just isn't good enough. Oh, the story is interesting and enjoyable, but truth be told, Yami to Hikari no Sanctuary was better in its limited battle scenes, and I honestly found the antagonists to be too weak for a chuunige. Great bad ending though. Haruru Minamo ni is definitely my pick for charage of the year, if Loveriche is nakige of the year, lol. I'll state it outright... no other charage this year got anywhere close to Haruru Minamo ni. That isn't a surprise, because Clochette's formula (if not the boob obsession) is probably the best established one for the genre. However, it just didn't make it there. VN of the Year 2017 Now, you've probably already figured it out from my explanation above, but Clephas VN of the Year 2017 is Aoi Tori. I probably could have picked any of these in a year with no other equivalent candidates and been satisfied with them as VN of the Year, but, after four 'layers' of consideration (I've been filtering candidates since March last year) this one was the one left over, having barely eked its way past the other VNs above. Any of the VNs that made it past the filter back in December really had VN of the Year levels of quality, which is unusual. 2017 was a good year for quality VNs, even if I didn't choose the one you wanted me to, lol.

  18. About Worm: It's a pretty popular web serial (as popular as these things go) about people with superpowers who probably shouldn't have superpowers. The specific of the story is pretty unnecessary as far as understand my fic goes, but if you want to check it out, be warned that the fic would have a big spoiler regarding the underlying mechanic of powers. I intend to do some short-ish stories for whichever VN happens to catches my liking at the moment. And anyway, here's everything you'd need to know about Worm as far as my fic goes: Fragment of the fallen gods. A Worm/ Visual Novels multi-cross. First stop: Swan Song.

  20. How deeply disappointed I'm in Fuwa. Allowing a thread to exist to just bully one person. Even as a joke this is quite harsh. I hope this threads get deleted and everyone joining on attacking Mitch will get an appropriated punishment. This day has marked a new low for Fuwa.

    [Review] Sakuya

It took me only a minute to come up with my random username. That is because I love stories with robots, even more if they are love interests. Their struggle with the fact they are not human despite looking like one or acting like one is something I really enjoy to read, and cry while doing so. And that's what pulled me towards this otomege by Tetrascope. The complete story of this game is split across 3 games: the free edition, that have the base story and it was translated by people from Fuwa; the paid edition, that adds 18+ content and one additional route, untranslated; and the short append story called "Sweet Present for Shin", also untranslated. I checked all of them, and my experience with them was mostly pleasant, even if not all three parts were absolutely necessary. From the intro movie The story starts in distant future Tokyo, where robotic engineering is advanced enough to have robots indistinguishable from real people around. Although, when I say indistinguishable, I meant physically, since most of them don't possess any way of make rational decisions or emotions. They all follow the strict program built into their heads. Our hero Sakuya is the sole exception. Created by the genius scientist that also the father of our protagonist Akane (you can change her name, this is the default one), Sakuya is so human-like that the biggest robotics company don't waste a chance to strike a deal with our girl to buy him for science. The setting is pretty well crafted, with topics like unemployment, sexbots, and anti-robots movements on the rising being touched at least once in the novel. Sadly, the novel is short and its focus is in the romance between a human and a robot, so all of these questions are pretty underdeveloped. We know those problems exist, and that they are too big to tackle in a novel so short, but not much discussion about it is done either. The romance in the first route, the one in the free edition, in the other hand is pretty sweet and satisfying. Sakuya is simply the cutest boy in terms of personality I ever met in a VN. And he's not even human. He's pure, gentle and caring, sometimes naive and sometimes mature. It's easy to forget that he's an android, and that also happens with Akane and Sakuya himself. And the fact that he's not human, but also too emotional to be a robot, it's the biggest source of drama for our characters. Sakuya's asking to hold hands, WHERE'S THE CHOICE SO I COULD SAY YES??? As Sakuya struggle with what he should be... Our protagonist Akane takes the long and dense road. She acts like our usual shoujo manga protagonist, with all of the "what is this feeling?" type of things... except she's supposed to be 23, so usually she comes across as childish. In fact, Sakuya constantly gets right what she's feeling and the only thing about human interaction he knows is mostly through movies. So yeah, originality is not her strongest asset. Last but not least is Shin, Akane's childhood friend. At first you'll think he'll provide some love triangle drama, but that not happens here. Instead, he serves as a good foil for Sakuya. While Sakuya is a robot who looks like a human, Shin is pretty much a human who looks like a robot. He's always calm and composed, almost emotionless. His sprites have very little variations in expression. Even when he's talking about his memories or feelings, he's as blank as ever. The game is not voiced, so we only have to imagine how monotone he must be in those scenes. But despite all that, he does provide some interesting interactions with Akane. All flashbacks are in this style, making everything even more cute Now, let's cover what you'll get in each version. The free version is the essential one if you're interested in this game. It covers pretty much everything I said up to this point. There's no sex scenes in this version, but they are implied, and that's more than enough in this game. The paid version adds not only the porn, but also a new route and three new extra stories (that you can access in the extra menu after clearing certain endings). Is it worth though? Short answer: no. The porn that was added in the free version route is alright. We can see both Akane and Sakuya on screen, and Sakuya is as gentle as you would expect of him. But let's remember, he's a robot. Even he says at some point that he doesn't feel any physical pleasure from the act. So his face is mostly lacking in expressions, except when he reacts to Akane's reactions. It's porn that focus only in the girl again, but this time the boy really cares about how she's feeling it. The new route... it's very subpar. Most of all because of the route structure, that tricks you into thinking it's a route for Shin when it's not, and it's ending, that shift the tone of the novel to the point that I wondered if the author even cared about the character development they build until said point of the story, because they shattered it to pieces in an absolute ex Machina way. Good thing I read this first, I would have hated to finish the game in this route. Needless to say, the porn of this route is just as bad. The extra scenes are fun though, but you won't lose much if you decide to pick the free version. This version is only recommended if you want to support Tetrascope, the game is just 800 yen on DLsite, it's pretty cheap it won't hurt. It's untranslated, but the free game section subs did appeared for me even in the paid version. Young Akane, Shin and Sakuya in "Sweet Present for Shin" And finally we have Sweet Present for Shin. This is the closest of a route for Shin we'll ever get, and it was as sweet and cute as the original game. It happens 5 years before the main game, but it's better appreciated if you play after it. Finally we can see Shin a bit flustered! It's very short, but still have three endings and one epilogue that ended my time spent with Sakuya, Akane and Shin in a pretty heartwarming note. Sakuya had everything that I like: robots, robot drama, cute characters and romance. Even if the paid version route was pretty bad, it wasn't enough to diminish my love for this game. Moe robots are the best!

As for my phone homescreen its due to me playing like crazy over the pass few days Super Robot Taisen OG Saga Endless Frontier on my V2Viper S using the Drastic NDS Emulator, i really love this game!

  25. Some VN's put you in a setting from which you need to escape, with usually fewer than 10 other characters having a place in the VN. They can take the form of "death game", "accident" or "a string of seemingly inexplicable events". I would like to make a list of those VN's. They'll be separated by if they are translated or not. Any info, corrections, or suggestions about these VN's will be greatly appreciated. The VN's marked by a * have different names in their localisations or translations. 26. I’m super staticky or something, so I fry computer parts even wearing a static strap plugged into the ground (I know it works because my dad used it when he worked on Telecommunications equipment) while naked and touching metal pipes with my foot. My friends don’t let me near their computers. Because of this I get other people to build my computers for me. For my most recent one (about six years ago), I got lazy and bought a pre-built Asus gaming rig figuring Asus could be trusted to make good computers. It arrived with a French Canadian keyboard (yes, that’s a thing. No, I didn’t know that until this machine either). Then three days after I got it, it would just endlessly reboot and the restore partition wouldn’t work. So I sent it back to Asus demanding a refund. They sent it back to me repaired saying they don’t offer refunds. Within a couple of weeks the Ethernet card wouldn’t work every second boot, so I have disable and re-enable it in device manager. The mouse will also not work on boot up once or twice a month. When Windows 8.1 came out it would get part way through the installation before telling me I don’t have a genuine copy of Windows. So either something is incompatible, or Asus put a fake copy of Windows 8 on it... Because of this I can’t upgrade to Windows 10 even if I wanted to. Oh yeah, and the surround sounds speakers I’ve used on computers with no problem for 15 years go *pop* and only have sound come out of the centre speaker if I don’t turn them off before I start a YouTube vid or if I listen to voices in certain VNs or games.

  27. Your thread title is silly and misleading so let me answer the question it poses rather than your highly disappointing first post. Use "Like" for good shitposts. Never reward productive posts, you'll get more of them! Use "Thanks" for the same except you're a god damn hipster. Use "Sad" for any posts made by me that you can't understand the glory of. Use "Confused" when you're too stupid to understand a post. Exception: also use for all posts by littleshogun. Use "Haha" if you think "haha" is actually an acceptable reaction to anything (signs point to no). Special mention to especially third-reich-mimicking mod posts.
