Beelzebub, Asmodeus, Baphomet, Lucifer, Loki, Cthulhu, Lilith, Hela! Blood given to you all! Mythic wolves let loose to devour the sun and the moon...Ranzo is the wolf. I'm Mr. Beast, the big bad Fenris wolf, I'm The-End-of-the-World-Man, wearing the flesh of fallen angels...! On this day twenty seven years ago in a faraway place to unsuspecting parents Ranzo was born. Birds fell dead from the sky and mice and rats poured out of the fields and gutters and feasted upon each other. All to entertain me. Here stands Ranzo! Born in fire and here to raise Cain! Gaze upon my wonder, send adoration's towards my glory and you might yet be saved. Or writhe around like millions of sun-baked eels desperate for enlightenment. Not true. The ladies in the series are mature and takes the lead . Monika is certainly unique and dominant . This VN has a twisted theme though and I'm not sure if it's what you are looking for. Also, to complete the VN (and find all the secret stuff), you have to mess around with the game files (very similar to what Scott Cawthon did in his Five Nights at Freddy's series). I don't think I like and want to do that in a VN.... Just take note of this2 points

Do you always go for the heroine that you think is best first or do you leave her for last?
Trickay and one other reacted to MaggieROBOT for a topic
Last. Otherwise I would read the rest of the routes always annoyed knowing they'll never reach the perfection of the already proved best girl. That and I like to end the game in a good note.2 points -
That's bitchin' it will be just like that cover art of the Lords of Acid album Voodu U (Too hot for work) Looks like you don't have to die today..congratulations! Aw thank you V Kun I appreciate it Have we met? So uh...What's in the box? It better not be socks! They have to get to know each other first over a fluffy/blushing period of time before we get to the lewdness. You can't rush these things! Oh nice I just started reading Yuru Yuri yesterday, thanks fellow comrade2 points

Yeah, a couple of them. Tiger dojo is hilarious Once I finish the route I might go back to read them all. And Sakura mmm... I get Yandere vibes, and that's all I can say so far. She didn't have much protagonism for the time being.2 points

OK, I'm a little late, but I hope you are enjoying ef I know it's not perfect, but it's still my favorite romance VN to date. Let me know your thoughts I'm reading Fate/Stay Night, currently on day 11 of the Fate route. The story is very compelling and the characters are great (aside from Shirou, that is). I even came to like Tousaka, and I'm kind of a tsundere hater. And Saber is just the cutest, How can I summon one? I just love strong but still very human female characters.2 points -

Lesbian Visibility Day rant
Chronopolis reacted to Plk_Lesiak for a blog entry
Hello there! It's not Friday, so it has to be an unusual post and it definitely is one... It will be a bit chaotic too - only now, late in the evening, after taking a day off and pursuing the only lesbian romance route in Tales of Aravorn: Seasons of the Wolf for most of it, I've realized that today is Lesbian Visibility Day. For me, both as a fan of yuri and as an appreciator of OELVNs it probably should be one important holiday - definitely worthy of a few moments/words of reflection. Visibility as something inherently positive is a curious idea. It's based on a very important and reasonable assumption, that to make something a public issue and fight for social change, you have to make people aware of that phenonenon's existence, scale and the consequences it might have for those most affected by it. To fight for the acceptance of gay people and systemic change that will give them equality before the law (and, hopefully, equality of opportunities), you cannot accept the conservative argument that sets sexual orientation as a purely "private" matter - the long-lived stance that wants people to visibly adhere to social "norm" and not "bother" others with the fact they're different. Most often, if you want your rights to be respected as a member of a minority group, you have to be loud, you have to be bold to the point of possibly being obnoxious and offensive to some people. You have to fight tooth-and-nail to make sure you won't be trampled by the majority's concepts of what's "normal" and "proper". In many Western countries, for lesbians that fight is to a large extent already "won" - the majority of people see them as a legitimate group worth respecting. Not everywhere though and it's not clear to what degree these gains are permanent. Hopefully? But is all visibility a good thing? Paraphrasing painfully accurate thought by @Fiddle, we don't really praise Adolf Hitler for bringing attention to Jewish issues in Mein Kampf. Yuri, is, obviously, not nazism. It's not in any inherent way a negative phenomenon for the lesbian cause. But it's also not automatically an ally of any progressive agenda. Japanese media is full of depictions of lesbian romance, which reaches a society that ignores LGBT issues in a way more persistent than pretty much any other highly developed country. For me, it's not especially surprising - just like the saturation of Pornhub with lesbian porn probably doesn't lead to people watching it going to their local Pride parade, fetishized, male-oriented yuri themes in anime and VNs do not have to translate into any kind of educated attitude towards RL queer women. And Japanese yuri, at least until recently, didn't really have an ambition of grounding its narrative into any kind of reality of homosexual romance. SonoHana series is the perfect example of completely isolated, imaginary "yuritopia" (to borrow a handy term from Yurirei), where a huge number of young females live in a world where males exists only in passing references, pretty much everyone's gay by default and there's no prejudice or social stigma connected to that fact - which, of course, make possible a gigantic number of voyeuristic porn scenes. Is it a bad thing by itself? Not really. Does it make people more aware of the situation of sexual minorities as a social issue? Hell no. Admittedly, some Japanese depictions of yuri romance are probably too lovely and heartwarming to say anything bad about them... Obviously, there's a lot of issues with representation of women in anime and VNs and I don't want to write a book here. I want to make a slightly different point and this goes to yuri romance in English VNs. This is also not a black and white picture - many EOLVNs directly copy the Japanese formula or give slight twists to it, while still keeping the "lesbian porn for guys" premise. However, for every Negligee and Sakura Fantasy our VN scene produces maybe even a couple of projects that are genuine expressions and/or appreciations of lesbian identity and realities of lesbian relationships. Throughout the various editions of Yuri Game Jam, NaNoRenO and in many commercial titles, I've seen lovely, touching, thought-provoking depictions of f/f romance that gave me huge pleasure as a reader, but also made me empathise with people different than me. Christine Love's work I think holds a special place here, with powerful and persuasive depictions of discrimination and her courage in exploring themes that commercial games rarely dare to go anywhere close to, from Analogue to Ladykiller in a Bind. Lately, Brianna Mei's Butterfly Soup gained similar notoriety, also through a genuine message and creative passion involved. But even small, cute and silly games such as those by Nami can have a genuinely positive role to play, confronting people with diversity in an approachable and lovely way. One other thing that OELVNs regularly prove to me is that some small, indie games can have more soul in them than many giant, high-budget productions... I, in all of this, have a pretty questionable position of a straight guy that finds lesbian romance lovely and, to a certain extent, hot. The more genuine the romance depicted is, the more I'm probably a bit of a creepy voyeur getting a high out of something that for other people is part of their identity. But no matter how we see that problem, this genuineness depicted above is something I absolutely love many yuri OELVNs for and a thing to be shared and appreciated. And that's my message for this day. Thank you for reading!1 point -

AA Spirit of Justice is done Really good, they improved virtually all aspects compared to Dual Destinies, the 3D sprites look better(?) and are custom animated more often ie. Trucy's sword swapping trick testimony, They brought the back ability to Examine any locations for some much needed world depth and character banters (best one is Polly's newt vs Thena's gecko vs. Nick's lizard) Divination Seances are fun, for once they implemented a new trial gimmick that I enjoyed. Divination Seance > Mood Matrix > Psyche Locks > Bracelet Prosecutor Sahmahghandi-idk was pretty cool. I bit too overbearing at times with the Let it goes but I liked his graceful-in-defeat attitude, and he meshed very well with Ema. We haven't seen a good prosecutor/detective duo since Edgeworth/Gumshoe. Klavier/Ema was ew, Blackquill/Fulbright was atrocious. Did I just mention Ema? She's baack, and ermergawd she's a legit forensics investigator kyaaaa!@# Maya's back too, but oh my god it feels so weird that she's 28, older than Detective Skye, and even MORE weird that the English VA they chose is decently deep voiced (I kinda have her in my head at least 5 pitches higher, idk). She finally gets to show off the results of all her being MIA training by flawlessly spirit channeling, but l0l I'm surprised they didn't bother to voice that scene considering they took the time to voice Rayfa's Divination Seances. P.S. Why'd she have to channel that person though, oof gonna have nightmares Rayfa's a great Ojou-tsuntsun, her mix of formal vocabulary into childish insults suits her 14 year old spoiled dutiful princess character perfectly. Barbed Head is also one of Nick's greatest aliases. ~~ Cases were in general more entertaining than Dual Destinites, maybe because the Accused are mostly people you know so it's more personal along with other factors like the DC Act increasing the stakes Apollo finally gets a massive focus and info dump about his past, sometimes it makes me wonder if the writers thought of this stuff already when they made AA4 and AA5 or if they only started BSing this stuff once they made this game >.> They did a relatively good job of making me care for Apollo's peeps this time around, man I'll never get over how badly they flopped with Athena got the Dual Destinites Trucy Wright from-main-to-background-character treatment, I guess cuz her story kind of ended already but man Case 4 really felt like they shoehorned in it to say "Don't worry guys, we didn't forget about Athena!" better than nothing I guess. Case 5 was... super. I got flashback chills to Trials & Tribulation's Case 5 with how convoluted it was and how it would just spam plot twists back to back keeping you on the edge of your seat. Really fun. They need to nerf spirit channeling though pls, it's waaay too overpowered for these cases xD. One thing I will nitpick though was the first half, the Nick vs. Polly portion. Writers did an absolutely abysmal job setting that one up, and what should've been an iconic, epic showdown was instead just a big F*** YOU letdown Ending was, I guess bittersweet? I'm glad Athena and Trucy objected to that decision instead of everyone unanimously agreeing, it fits how I felt but 'tis for the best~ ~~ All I got left is I guess some of the DLC episodes and maybe then I'll check out AA Investigations and that one spinoff PL vs. PW Ratings1 point -

I've started reading To Heart 2 and man, it is FUNNY. I'm really enjoying it a bunch. I find myself having a hard time deciding which route I want to try and get onto first (which is a good problem to have) and I find that when I read, I don't get my fill and want to keep on reading :D. Several of the characters seem interesting and I've already found my favorite thus far. There's also been a memorable scene I'm not sure I'll forget for quite a while: I really think she needs help LOL. The description doesn't do it justice: it's so much funnier when you read it. I read that part last night and thinking about it now I'm still laughing so hard there are tears in my eyes. I'm really enjoying the VN - it's exactly what I was hoping for in my next read: something relaxing, funny, and fun to read, that makes me want to keep reading. Hahahaha. It's such a great voice, though, isn't it? It really fits him well.1 point -

Yes, both of these things are acceptable presents. That or some yuri That's the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me, Thank you! Oh and @Zvana I'll let you share some of the glory as well so don't you fret1 point -
I find the fact that most recommendations are nukige with femdom fetish very revealing Oh well, it's clear that is not common at all. Let's see... I've just read Sharin no Kuni and if you pick Sachi's route she kinda takes the lead. Not that she's particularly mature though. In ef the second tale Yuuko can definitely be seen as deliberately approaching and trying to seduce Yuu. But again, not that she's the "mature type" and the situation is much more complex than all that... So... Ever17's Tsugumi's route might also be fitting. Actually, it might well be the closest to what you are looking for... The only problem is that the romance is fairly scarce. Anyway, I hope I gave you some ideas1 point

About translation and stuff...
blendedfart reacted to tymmur for a topic
That description doesn't really tell me if you have the skills or not. Try take a look at Fred's and Darbury's blogs. I'm not telling you to memorize every single detail. It's more like getting an idea of what editing is all about. I think this entry could be the best regarding telling the idea of editing. Read this and figure out if you could see yourself do work like this. Ideally your English skills should be of a level where you get the difference between each version of the same line. Also you should have the mindset where you care about details like this. If you feel like you can do it and still want to be an editor after reading this, then we should talk. Your math sounds right. It's just a shame that I have yet to see any translator do more than a 100 lines a day 5 days a week. Attempts has been made to go faster, but it seems that 100 lines is what the brain can handle for one session and doing multiple sessions in a single day is not a valid approach for most translators. It's not like people can treat unpaid translations as a full time job.1 point -
Was she ever mature or did she ever take the lead from Yuuji at any point besides Some of the above recommendations are Nukiges (Imouto Paradise, Starless) or have a lot of hardcore-ish 18+ scenes (Euphoria). Just thought I'll mention it in case you are just looking for a normal-ish VNs and doesn't like those genres1 point

Ask yourself what your goals are. If they are to pass N2/N1 and get your piece of paper, it might be best to get books specifically teaching to the test. If they are to learn Japanese, I would forget the N series of tests for now and try to ingest lots of native material of some or various kinds.1 point

Guide to learning japanaese
Fuez reacted to Funnerific for a topic
Don't simply read through a grammar guide, you should make notes for everything to quickly refer to them later (plus it stimulates your memory as you write it down). DO NOT learn vocab using JLPT N's, aside from N5 and N4 just to get you started, unless you specifically need a JLPT certificate for something. You should read untranslated material (without machine translation), no matter how slow it goes at first, and add words you find to your vocabulary. You can use Memrise or Anki for that, as they would be very helpful in revising those words in a way that you don't spend too much time on those you remember and spend enough time with those you struggle. I personally would recommend grinding 2000 kanji in heaps before any vocab as that would let you overcome the biggest wall, but if you don't want to bother with that then simply use some program that adds furigana to text (idk which one to suggest, I've never used one but I think VNR does that). Never, ever use machine translation.1 point -
