Nekopara vol 2 and 3 physical edition are now being sold at Denpasoft
phantomJS reacted to mitchhamilton for a topic
"Heres something we've already released, but different!" thats how theyre treating denpa. instead of releasing physical copies at the same time as their titles, theyre releasing them later so people whove already bought might be compelled to buy them again when they didnt have the option. its your money so of course i cant stop you but really, sp doesnt care. theyre getting their money, theyll make half ass promises and a small majority is getting screwed by them while they move onto the next project to kickstart and sell. i just cant see them as anything but a dishonest company that takes advantage of their customers.1 point -

HoplessHiro reacted to Shaun for a topic
I actually wish I voted for Nagi instead (can't change my vote), I found her interesting as a character. Granted it might be best to do Nagi and Fukami in the order they appear on the scene viewer, it would be rather weird to do Fukami first plus she has more scenes than Nagi. I already viewed all of Nagi and Fukami's H-scenes. FYI I already finished Maitetsu a couple of weeks ago or so (rated it a 10 on VNDB), I just haven't viewed all of the H-scenes yet also when you finish the Grand Route all H-scenes unlock. I'm going wait until Paulette is completed before I download the patch.1 point -
I liked both Sachi's good end and bad end tbh. She is different, in her route yes, and a lot of her snark is missing but I didn't think it was that bad. That being said it wasn't the best route for sure. Makina bad end gave me nightmares that night though. I watched the good end first so1 point

The emphasis would still be on who is getting released first Like someone else said, because this is a when and not if situation and because you work amazingly fast the poll is just a fun thing and only means a week or so of waiting. PS: My order would be Fukami-Kisaki-Reina-Makura-Nagi1 point -

I didn't play Hoshimemo, so I don't know how they compare, however as for imouto routes in general (from the VNs I've read), there is one in WagaHigh and SakuSaku.1 point

What are you playing?
Plk_Lesiak reacted to Corrupted for a topic
I just finished it (and am riding on the high) and came back here to tell you it was fucking awesome (nothing below should be spoilers, just saying "it has this and this type of thing and they are good" but if you're super crazy sensitive to spoilers maybe skip it). The 3-5 untranslated lines didn't impair the story. The amount of garbled lines was actually very low, and I can't for sure even remember any. My opinion is only worth so much having only read like 15 VNs (you can see the list by clicking my VNDB link of course). In my personal enjoyment ranking, I would say it's under Very Long stuff like Little Busters, CLANNAD, MLA, but way above most of the Long or Medium category that I've played. (Going by VNDB's definitions) Despite being smaller scope than those big games, it actually had significant worldbuilding and mystery to it. It had the kind of multi-generational plot that I enjoy a lot, a story like The Watchmen is probably a good example of what I mean. I couldn't guess any of the plot twists, which reminds me of Key games. The boobs aren't ridiculously large; in fact there's a wonderful selection of small boobs. The loli characters are actually interesting, not ridiculous horndogs. The two things that stood out the most: The world building where I had to actively piece together the puzzles of how things work and what happened historically, and the imouto route which was simply fantastic. I had zero interest in "imoutos", but after this game I think I'll be specifically looking for more like it. What I didn't like, and this is actually a spoiler:1 point -

Haruka ni Aogi, Uruwashi No Translation Project (Completed)
Pomelo reacted to littleshogun for a topic
Quite a good progress here, so let me congratulate on the 10% translated mark here in which it's quite a lot more than it sounds considering that it mean that you must translated ~6600 lines here. Nice to see that Branch translation is going well, and looking forward to the patch although if you managed to get the good progress at both of common route (Main and Branch), perhaps you can reconsider to release common route patch. Either way, in the end it's up to you in regard of the release plan and once again good luck on the project.1 point -

Man even without the censorship thing Subahibi wasnt gonna sell, its so obvious Its good but you guys need to realize that just JOPs have this dumb kamige meme doesnt mean its going to appeal to a general audience, especially If you guys wanted it to sell better, darker VNs like this with older art woulda needed better word of mouth and press and not just staying on a forum talking about what the best JOP visual novel is1 point
-
What's more puzzling is that developers think that good titles will just sell themselves. That's not how it works. You need to find the audience for your game and get them interested in it. You need to reach out to sites that get a lot of traffic from your audience. You need the right sales pitch. You need to convince people that you're worth supporting. You need a message that will resonate and will get people to chatter about your game. If you can't be bothered to do any of these things, then you're literally just rolling the dice and hoping some combination of factors beyond your control will align to make your game a success. Doesn't sound like a good business strategy to me.1 point

Yeah, the Steam page is pretty much an incomprehensible mess - and I see it just like I've said before, as something directed mostly towards people that already know what they're buying, with a chance for a few lucky sales from people intrigued by positive user reviews. As usual, the publisher thought they can just rely on their existing fanbase, without any kind of effort to reach out to anyone else. It's this attitude, among other things, that keeps VNs as isolated as they are now. Yeah, that pretty much proves my point. I might be a rather open-minded person with decent knowledge of the VN medium, but the "deeply philosophic porn game" is still not something I can that easily wrap your mind around. And it's not like anyone even tries to communicate this properly to the potential buyer. On the Steam page, you have some info about an award it got (I'm sure it tells a lot to a Western reader, "Moe Games Awards" sounds very dignified and dropping the names of artists will also surely captivate people a lot), a few words about how awesome it is and a short plot summary that sounds like pure gibberish. I would never even add it to my wishlist if not the word-of-mouth knowledge about it (which I wouldn't even have if I wasn't this peculiar, double-niche brand of weeb).1 point
-
Well, the thing is... not everyone thinks this is the "best VN ever made". People have different tastes. Even ignoring the horrible Steam description that does a poor job selling the game, Subahibi is not a game for everyone, for many reasons. It doesn't appeal to the Steam crowd at all. It doesn't matter how great you say it is, I can't see someone that plays VNs mainly for moe anime waifus and ecchi ever thinking this is a masterpiece, even if they do end up buying it.1 point

Subrashiki Hibi only sold about ~2k copies. Also there was the confirmation from SCA-DI himself way back then: Basically Subarashiki Hibi that came out on the 30th August 2017 sold ~4.5k copies less than the All-Ages version of Littler Busters which came out on the 1st November 2017, in any case if it's not obvious it should be mentioned that both are terrible sale numbers. After this, I don't think that Makura are gonna be too eager to release in the West the definitive version of Subarashiki Hibi anytime soon, nor one of the other best VN ever made, Sakura no Uta.0 points
