rimvydasm and one other reacted to littleshogun for a topic
Another update in which it inform that Irru will take a rest until the next year, but more importantly it also tell us that we'll going to have Mizuha's patch release on 26th later with all of the process are already done. So you can note the date if you've been waiting for playing Mizuha's route, although it's okay if you chose to wait until Yuzuki's patch release. That's all for the update here.2 points -

We've just posted our annual Top Visual Novels Of 2022 / Upcoming Visual Novels Of 2023 list As always, we're curious what everyone else thinks. What did you think of our choices? Keeping in mind the proviso: the list is subjective and based on the games that we have personally played. There's also potential for recent releases to be added in later, like Witch on the Holy Night, which we haven't played yet. What would your choices be for the top visual novels of 2022? It's not been an amazing year, but there have been some great titles. Which visual novels are you looking forward to in 2023?1 point -

Top Visual Novels Of 2022 / Upcoming Visual Novels Of 2023

It's actually good to hear that a lot of stuff is coming out. But yeah, I can see that it can get a bit too much to list them all. Though, it might be a decent compromise to list 20 nominees or so and then pick the top five of them. That should usually cover all major releases. Just an idea though... Certainly true for Chaos;Head - the protagonist is rather... unique to put it mildly. It's actually one of the rare cases I liked the anime more than the VN, since the time you have to endure him in his pathetic state is much shorter. I didn't have that endurance in the VN. I liked Flowers 3 by far the most. Though, Yatsushiro is my favorite character, so I might be a bit biased here. Regarding Flowers 4, I like how Shirahane has developed and Rikka is certainly a lot more bearable than she was in part 1. But the episode was supposed to bring back more of the mystery elements and so far I've seen nothing of it. That said, I'm eagerly awaiting the annoucement of Kara no Shoujo 3 for a western release. And I don't really care if MangaGamer, Jast or any other publisher is doing it.1 point -
Mhakna Gramura to Fairy Bell. The games in the main series, fault - milestone one and two, technically, also fit, but together they are longer. Chuusotsu! 1st Graduation ~Chuusotsu no Time After Time~ planetarian ~Chiisana Hoshi no Yume~ DEAD END JUNCTION. It's not very good, but has nice ideas, and I personally still liked it in spite of that. Ame no Marginal Tsuki no Terasu. Gogatsu no Sora.1 point

Netghost, A Crime Drama Visual Novel [itch]
Emi reacted to Dragonfire for a topic
Buy Netghost on itch.io! Visit our site and play the demo! Netghost is a Crime Drama visual novel with a mystery-driven story full of intrigue, twists and turns. The story follows Ian Newfield, a reputable cyber security engineer who transforms into a cold-blooded criminal in his struggle to protect the company he works for and provide aid to his ailing, bedridden sister. Taking inspiration from both Japanese and Western media, we strived to combine the best of both worlds in the creation of Netghost and also lay a foundation for its own identity. It offers a branching storyline with several paths and endings and the ability for the player to change the course of the story by using the in-game email feature. Ian Newfield is a talented grey-hat hacker who works as a high-ranking cyber security engineer at Daikon Industries, an Information Technology company that is part of a shadowy branch of a larger conglomerate of corporations. His job is to type in the letters and numbers that make up the encryption for top-secret software his company is hired to guard, details of which he knows nothing about. Ian basks in a frail sense of financial security - that is, until he is told by his boss that their product was cracked and posted anonymously online. Now, Ian is tasked with finding the leaker among his peers by using any method at his disposal, in a workplace where anyone, from his fellow coders to the janitor of the building, could be the perpetrator... Meanwhile, Ian's sister, Vivie, is confined to a hospital bed for years now, ill from a bone-wasting disease, and Ian works overtime to cover all her expenses and keep her happy. Despite his generous salary at Daikon, their situation has them living from paycheck to paycheck, and their objective of going for an expensive, experimental treatment for Vivie seems way out of reach. With Ian's earnest effort to uncover the elusive Daikon leaker, his life and career begin to converge with the criminal underworld of Tri-State City. As fate would have it, opportunities rise for Ian to cut corners and make big money, money that could, perhaps, help find a cure for his sister. An age-old question is brought forth: Does crime pay? * Branching storyline with multiple paths and endings! An engaging story of over 150000 words with meaningful path branching! There are no stand-alone choices in Netghost. It is choices made through the in-game email feature that cause the story to shift towards one path or the other, one ending or the other, as detailed below. Netghost offers several endings and of course, the fabled true ending. * In-game Email-based Gameplay - change the course of the story with a single in-game email! You are given the choice to reply to emails Ian receives in his inbox, or leave them unanswered. Replying to some emails isn't crucial for the plot to advance, but whether or not you reply to certain other emails can determine the very fate of all characters... Ignoring emails isn't advised, as missing the chance to reply to an email crucial to the plot could lead to an unfavorable turn of events... or not! As a general rule, you're able to check Skymail for new emails when Ian is at his computer at home or at work. Just tap the Skymail icon on the top left when it appears and you're good to go! * Enthralling plot with several twists and turns! In the words of Ian Newfield, "No one in this office is who they claim to be, nothing is what it seems to be." Keep your eyes peeled. The devil is in the details! * A crime-drama story with themes of mystery, suspense, betrayal, love & even sci-fi! The story is built on the premise that even in circumstances of moral ambiguity, there is an indisputable difference between what is right and what is wrong. It aims to explore the moral dilemmas that emerge with the rapidly-advancing information technology and its use (and abuse) by characters who operate both inside and outside the cyberlaw. Are there any lines that can be crossed freely and safely? Deciding the answer to this question is a process which the player is actively involved in. * Immersive Original Soundtrack! Clean and descriptive Original Soundtrack that enhances your immersion! All tracks expertly made and seamlessly looped! * Vivid & Gorgeous Art! The story comes to life before your eyes with expressive characters and beautifully-crafted, detailed scenic backgrounds! Characters blend finely and perfectly with the backgrounds behind them! Expertly tailored CGs that give motion to the world and narrative!1 point -

Yesterday I finished Clover Day's with Izumi's route. @ittaku - you were right, this route was amazing I'd say it was on par with Anzu's route when it comes to the plot - they could be called sister routes perhaps I mean, they feature similar themes and struggles - but this time it was about Izumi's family, instead of Yuuto's. And Izumi as a heroine is absolutely lovely - one of the cutest tsunderes I've encountered so far So, if I had to rank the routes it would be Izumi >= Anzu > Tsubame > Anri >>> Hekiru/Hikaru. So, it makes for one meh route (H/H), one decent (Anri), one very good (Tsubame) and two outstanding ones (Anzu and Izumi) - not bad There's decent presence of side characters throughout the rotes - big plus. It was especially pronounced in Tsubame's route Art looks very good, and I really like the character designs. Music is ok - nothing outstanding, but does the job. I played Vita version, but I actually own PC version (standard one, not the Plus). While - at least when skimming through PC version - H-scenes weren't exactly up to my taste, I'm a bit disappointed with the all-ages edition, since it features no extra content at all, except the unlockable "extra scenarios", that are just 1-2 minutes long skits, similar to those in Majkoi's menu Even some additional CGs for "normal" scenes would be welcome, but there's nothing of that, it just skips the H-scenes, and that's all. Well, thank you, I could have done it myself with Ctrl key, and wouldn't have to struggle with some emulator glitches But that's a minor complaint, and all in all I really enjoyed this VN - strong 8/10. (Would have been 9 if the two lesser routes - Anri and Hekiru - were of the same quality as the three better ones) I think that - after a short break - I might try Tsui no Stella as my next read (unless some other title distracts me ).1 point
