Not sure about being open minded, never tried gay and fujoshi's stuff here. While all seems great and good, I have stuff piling up and might take some time before I start another (nukige especially). My list contains short stuff too. Some great ones like https://vndb.org/v10658, Msize stuff. To tell the truth, VNs with darker backgrounds doubt I have read much before. "Kinda like medieval ages, valkyries and labs with chains and single light bulb setting" and I don't like BDSM if you know what I mean. Much harder to choose and start with them.On the other hand, brighter ones eg.eg. Euphoria even though gruesome-ish may be more appealing to me, minus the colors. Point is there might be too much torture, though I do like crazy stuff to happen too. aye understood. suggest you try reading some of amagasa´s titles. starting with beniiro & every title of its series afterwards, like kizakura, vizal no nikki etc. should fit your needs in terms of medievalness & else. enjoy!

now a serious answer from my site, the whole characters or story crap is exactly what it sounds: crap. both are equally important, as a good cast contributes to a great extend in keeping people interested in the story itself for various reasons, like getting them to empathize with certain characters, or to recognize oneself in someone there etc, but no matter the greatness of them all, an awesome cast alone isnt able to cover for a lame story/ plotline, simply because a works of literature (visual novel in this case) is way more than about character traits, or their monologues only, means when 70-80% of the whole vn bores literally the living fuck out of the reader, then they´re going to drop it, regardless of some bright moments encountered in between... edit: visual novels are by NO means a biography of sorts and even if so, the whole thing has to be interesting or noone will consider buying it. :/

edit. that was obviously meant as a joke from my site, but i´ve seriously noticed those wanting exactly what´s been mentioned above steadily growing in numbers all over the net. whats become of this beloved community of ours?

i take the stance of a modern western vn-customer & say pretty visuals are the most important here, rest doesnt matter at all, if it happens to be blessed with a good story too, then so be it, otherwise its okay and i wont be disappointed :/

pretty sure the "she" you mentioned is akira, so no, your "she" is actually a "he", but encouraged by everyones positive vibes the matter is solved when he turns himself into a somewhat true "she" by cutting off that unwanted piece of meat down there :/. case closed. applause. applause.

not sure what to say regarding this matter, but its quite adarn shame when other indie-devs like mouse & friends, who are wayyyy smaller than those, still manage to produce actual quality, though beeing incredibly limited fund-wise.... dont know how many bucks wingedcloud earned so far, excluding sekais share, but i dare to assume hiring professional writers should be already affordable without risking the companies bankcruptcy...

maybee i´m simply too retarded for getting the joke here regarding this whole topic, but i found fraternite to be a wonderful story about how to become abetter person, btw. finding a true meaning in life. from my own perspective violence, prostitution, betrayel and such alike are, or can be an essential part of the everyday life of ours, nothing to be ashamed about, btw something to keep on denying to the fullest, simply because its those darker desires/ traits like the ones mentioned earlier which indeed make us human, so to speak and should be instead accepted as avital part of our very self, worthy to be experienced without fearing possible consequences...

thanks for sharing your thoughts & though i only read about 4-5h into the novel in question (demo + x), there´s indeed been alot of fixed that bugged me and others quite hard in its predessor, always nice seeing a dev taking critism to heart when trying to improve their own products btw make them more appealing to the community.

back to reading liberation maiden, made a little progress & still no idea what to expect from it in the end. so far the vast majority of characters are abit weird?!? and the mc unexpectedly non going full genocide-mode yet, which is pretty suprising when considering how he gets/got treated by some... edit. finished ilkenie1 earlier this morning, been a veeeery bumpy ride without any meanful plot, as told before, but...couldnt believe it somehow... better should have :/ now onto part2, which comes across way more refined & should please my needs XD

denpa is not that weird of a genre, but it simply wasnt a pleasant experience for me coming to subahibi, when you (the reader) basically feel like getting raped by an omnipresent grande message, which gets forcefully shoved down your unwilling throat, not that i dislike stories having a deeper meaning to them, but if so, then i prefer the more subtile ones.

hoooly shit, villainous protag, revenge, evil route, gang rape, abit ntr...really thxxxxx for suggesting it & off we go!
