  1. The point of kickstarter isn't to make money, it's to get their projects funded. This is something I feel many people have forgotten. They are supposed to make profit from the game sales not the kickstarter. They don't need the amount of money they made from this kickstarter. Honestly the amount of money they made should be enough to fund 4-6 VNs. If they localize Schwarzesmarken I seriously hope they don't try to kickstarter it since it's already been paid for. A good $400,000 from this kickstarter will go straight to their pockets and won't be spent on the localization of this VN or the kickstarter rewards. Hell I'm willing to wager they won't even give this VN series a decent marketing campaign despite having plenty of money for it.
  2. I'm talking about the VNs that AGE has made(or is making) since 2012 based in the Muv Luv universe. They are all All ages Chronicles 3/4, Schwarzesmarken, and Muv-Luv Photonmelodiesâ™®. To be honest I have no interest in this kickstarter. I've already read the VNs and I'm not interested in reading them again. The same happened with the 1st Grisaia. I had already read the fan patch before it was announced and saw no reason to purchase the English version. The same will happen with Sharin no Kuni. I want new VNs, not ones that have already been translated by fans. All these kickstarters feel like they're delaying new VNs that haven't been translated yet.
  3. I dont get why these companies bother wasting money on DRM. Its gonna get cracked in a day or 2.
  4. Ah Muv Luv a once great series now ruined by the curse of all age. All Muv Luv related games released since 2012 have been unappealing to me. Maybe one year Age will return to their former glory but I doubt it, most likely a VN company that will remain dead to me.
  5. I'd love to see them partner with Light. I've always wanted to read Senshinkan by them. The VN is 11.4GB when installed which is the biggest VN I've seen in terms of filesize. I believe Monobeno is bigger if you have all extra content stuff, but I don't think that is a fair comparison.
  6. No idea if they do or not. But the recent trend of OELVNs has been very disappointing for me. Still not a single one I'm interested in playing. I want some more recent VNs that are fairly lengthy preferably 20 hours long minimum and made within the last 4 years. Also it should be obvious already, but they gotta be 18+ else I'm not interested.
  7. 5 bucks says the bulk of them are gonna be OELVNs... I hope there is at least 1 VN in there that interests me, but I doubt it.
  8. I lasted maybe 2 hours before dropping this VN. Uninteresting MC and heroines I just wanted to shoot. God I hate tsunderes.
  9. Not a genre I read to often but every once in a while I find myself in the mood for it. I've already read Monster Park 1 & 2 and Monster Survive. I've probably read a few others just can't remember there names. Honestly I didn't enjoy any of them as much as I did Monster Hazard. First off I would like to mention what I mean by similar. -Has a female protagonist(This one is REQUIRED). -Has monsters, orcs, or something along those lines(preferably not a pure tentacle fest but there can be some tentacle stuff not really my thing though). -Prefer it to have some bad endings with something more to them than just a game over screen. -Prefer its resolution to be higher than 800x600. -Prefer it to have little to no gameplay. Choices are fine but I don't want anything gameplay heavy. VN Reader can't really hook GUI elements and translate them for me easily. -Would be nice if it has a survival/trapped/suspense sorta feel to it like Monster Hazard did. -I would really like it to be longer than 10 hours. -Has Erotic Content this one should be fairly obvious if you've read at least a few of my posts XD -I don't care if the rape is avoidable or not and I don't care if there are no good endings. I know there are tags you can use on VNDB, but there are so many tags missing from VNs making it impossible to find all the possibilities. Hell Monster Hazard is missing a lot of tags such as Bad Ending(s), Bad Endings with Story, Mystery, Thriller, Suspense, and so on. Yeah I'm sure some of those tags are debatable but that's besides the point. Also if it isn't already obvious it doesn't need to be translated into English I have no issues with using VN Reader.
  10. I didn't read the original either. I read nukiges semi commonly so I'm sure the h-scenes won't bother me much.
  11. The 18+ content is my entire motivation to read a VN. How do I read a VN with no motivation. I need my prize at the end of the road.
  12. Unfortunately there isn't one. This will be a VN I'll never get to read. I'll still dream of an 18+ patch being released(fan made or not) when it officially releases, but I know it's just a dream.
  13. I feel your pain man. I have this issue as well. I finally got myself to do something productive yesterday and started playing Rune Factory Tides of Destiny. I've been putting the game off for years. Otherwise I've been pointlessly browsing forums, reddits, and youtube for the last week. I still have a dozen or so games I haven't finished yet and I'm not really sure why I stopped playing them. Tales of Zestiria, Fairy Fencer F, Dragon Quest Heroes, Stardew Valley to name a few. Hell I got the new patch for Dracu-riot and started playing through Azusa's route on April 1st. Still haven't gone back to complete the route or play the others. I go through phases where I just can't bring myself to watch a new anime series and end up rewatching old favorites. The dumb thing is I know if I just force myself to continue playing one of the half completed games I'll most likely get hooked to it again. But what do I end up doing? I start playing a game that has been sitting on the back burner for a long time which will probably end up only half completed. You're not the only one with this issue. The only advice I can really give is to do your best to force yourself to do something. If it manages to grab you then enjoy it, if not then try to force yourself to do something else.
  14. Seeing this made me sad lol. Made me remember how much I want to see Aiyoku no Eustia get translated to english. Which then in turn reminded me that Daitoshokan no Hitsujikai was dropped and I only got to read a few of the routes.
  15. On a completely unrelated topic what is your signature from?
  16. Funny you should mention 10,000 words is considered a short story as that tends to be around how long a 10 hour VN is -_-. Since you seem to hate the measuring of time I want you to start to do something for me. Whenever someone tell you its a 30 minutes drive to so and so location I want you to correct them and say you mean 30 miles. Sorry but your nitpicking bugs me had to bring it up. My reading speed doesn't really vary much so using time to measure length and determining if something is a short story or not feels pretty right to me. The whole poor writing thing you are WAY OFF with. I value characters over story. This holds true for me in games, VNs, movies, anime, manga, novels, etc. If I don't care for any of the characters why would I be interested in their story. I love character fluff, sure there is point where you can over do it. If a VN ends within 10 hours It's very unlikely I will become attached to any of the characters. I'm not asking fans to not make a restoration patch. The whole AO patch thing is referring purely to Nekopara where the patches were official. Plain and simply... Sekai Project release VN with both AA and AO versions... release them on the same day... DO NOT SELL AN OFFICIAL PATCH THAT RESTORES AO CONTENT... People would in most cases buy 1 version or the other... and then after say a few weeks look to see which sold better.
  17. Koikuma and Wagamama both look like VNs I'd be willing to read so I cannot complain. Koikuma looks a bit more appealing to me because of Arle
  18. I'm excluding Mangagamer because off the top of my head I can't think of any VNs they have released that had both AA and AO versions. So we have no side by side sales comparison. Another reason I'm excluding them is because you mentioned their stuff has been 'selling like shit'. Of course it's gonna sell like shit when the bulk of the stuff they localize no one wants(not literally just the majority don't want). They release low budget out of date VNs over and over and when they do bring a higher budget one its an extreme fetish VN. If you really want to include Nekopara in this then for each sale of the AO patch we have to -1 sale of the AA version and +1 sale the AO version. But then we run into another issue. Is there a way to confirm if someone bought the AA version and then pirated the AO patch and applied it to his AA version? This causes the sales numbers between the 2 numbers to become muddled. Not to mention what's stopping people from sharing there AO patch they bought with friends muddling things even more. Comparing an AA and AO versions sales becomes troublesome when there in an AO patch for the AA version messing with numbers. Sekai Project has never released a Japanese VN with an AA and AO version on the same day that DID NOT have a patch/dlc that makes the AA an AO. There has never been a FAIR fight for the AA and AO versions to see which will sell better. Raymond is assuming his previous releases of AA and AO were on even grounds and that AA is the clear victor. Which is not true. I'm simply asking them to try it out once with Grisaia no Meikyuu to see what happens.
  19. Settle down there buddy no reason to get all angry because our opinions don't align. No reason to start insulting me. You can't really include Mangagamer in this 99% of the stuff they localize no one even wants AO or not. I'm not looking for your guarantee. I want a game that will be having both AA and AO release to be released on the same day to see the facts of the situation. Honestly I'd like to think both have a chance of winning. It's not like I'm against AA releases happening. Sure I'm not gonna read them as I'm just not interested in AA VNs. I just don't like it when they take an AO VN from Japan that has no AA version and then they ONLY release an AA version. I live in America and censorship like that should not be happening. We proudly uncensor stuff not the other way around.
  20. I love how Raymond asks us to prove AO can be more profitable while releasing AO versions of their VNs several months after the AA versions. Sounds hypocrtical to me. Release them on the same damn day and let's find out who win. We are not counting Nekopara. No offense to fans of the series but I don't even consider it to be a visual novel. If a VN is less than 10 hours long I personally don't even consider it to be a visual novel. At best it's a visual short story. Release Grisaia no Meikyuu AA and AO versions on the same day. Have there be no patch to add AO content to the AA version so people have to choose to buy 1 or the other. Advertise them equally and don't try to hide the existence of the AO version. Do this and we'll see which one turns out to be more profitable. Raymond also mentions they have some AO only titles in the wings but VNDB doesn't show any of them. Anyone know what they are? Are they real Visual Novels(not over 5 years old), crappy low budget Nukiges, Visual Short Stories, or even worse OELVNs?
  21. Something I did forget to mention is Chinese to English machine translation works better than Japanese to English. If a VN has a a Chinese translation you can use those with a machine translator and in most cases you will get something a bit more understandable. Don't be expecting a miracle though it is still a machine translation and will not give you something very readable.
  22. As many have mentioned there are no good machine translators. I use a program called Visual Novel Reader and have it showing translations for LEC, Atlas, and Google at the same time. Even with these programs some VNs will be unreadable. Some VNs they will work... ok.... with. You wont get pretty sentences you'll get the bare minimum of the meaning.
  23. Kind of a disappointing list IMO. Only 2 VNs that interest me White Album 2 and Aiyoku no Eustia. Why are so many of the requests things that have been already translated I want new stuff not things I have already read before or things that are so old I just have no interest. This could be a disappointing year for official english VN releases. Oh wait it always is. How about some VNs made in the last few years with HD graphics and preferably have no gameplay(just read and make choices).
  24. Hate is a strong word, but there are 0 OELVNs that I am interested in right now and I still have yet to read one. I've mentioned it time and time again. For me there are 3 things they need to get me interested and not just one of the 3 things it needs all 3. Voice acting, adult content, and an art style I like. The first 2 are self explanatory. The 3rd one means an art style that isn't to far off from one you would find in a Japanese VN. Having all 3 of these does not guarantee I will read an OELVN but it is the minimum requirements for me.
