My only problem with Makoto is that he's too average. I want to read a story about interesting people, not random guys you'll find anywhere. I hate average protagonists the most. School Days is quite interesting because of one aspect, though. A lot of people think "hey, it'd be nice to be in the position of character X, he's so popular with woman, that lucky bastard. I'd do a much better job than him anyway!" and then they throw exactly that kind of person who doesn't care about the consequences of their acts (or is too dumb to notice them- in both cases, a person who is too incompetent to be the hero) as the protagonist. In fact, I think a lot of people hate makoto because of the fact they'd do the exact same things he did in that situation. And that terrifies them. To me he's just "meh, average protag".

With waifus I suppose you're only asking about female characters, right? A bit of a bummer. Well, here's my list: I'll start things off with Akane from Rewrite. I love her ideals and her personality is very pleasing. As I'm sure you all know, the only thing I look to in romantic relationships is getting some sort of benefit. This can be anything from a suitable cause to defend to a good servant. While Akane would serve to give me a cause (and tons of moneys) I'm forced to pick Moran from Shikkoku no Sharnoth as the servant type. I can hardly think of a character that's more useful, and she's quite cute. To the third, huh... So I've got myself a very influential and pleasant person and a hypercompetent robot girl. Seeing as how I already have what I want, the third spot will be all about... Well, stress relief. I love teasing people, and her ninja roleplay earned a spot in my heart- more than anything, she's cute. I'll pick Akatsuki from Log Horizon.

Max I've done was when I first got into anime. I remember finishing a 24 episodes one and watching half of another. I only do this kind of thing with VNs now, though. I've gradually lost my interest for anime, now I only watch 2 or 3 per season whereas I used to watch 10~15.

There, it felt like they had some meaning and they helped to push the conflicts forward and keep the plot going. Now then people, remember, let's not drift away from the main topic too much.
