  1. Just finished Osananajimi wa Daitouryou. It was a very pleasant diversion - I needed a good comedy. I'm now excited to be diving in to World End Economica's recently-released Episode 02. Isuna Hasekura hasn't let me down yet, and I don't think this will be the time he does. I have to get through it quickly, though, since the August reading club is starting soon.
  2. Done! And it's only August 1st. Overall thoughts: My expectations were low on all fronts except for sheer goofiness. Given that, OsaDai delivered on expectations, and rarely even exceeded them. I thought Ell's route was rather well-executed; it ended up being my favorite. I know I have a soft spot for the robot girl trope, and at first I was unhappy that she wasn't robotic enough, but I felt like on her route that angle was a bit more pronounced, and it all came together a little bit better. Overall, the comedy had me literally laughing out loud quite frequently. Saionji was the surprise star of many of my favorite comedy scenes, including an amazing one-liner near the end of Ell's route that's lurking on a signature around the forums. Brief spoilerish thought on Ell's route:
  3. *grumble grumble* A few months ago I would've been one age bracket lower, and just a bit less self-conscious.
  4. I'm now pot committed to Sekien no Inganock, so I switched my vote there just to hedge my bets against an influx of last-minute voting.
  5. I try to pay for literally everything I play. If it has a licensed release, certainly (preferably through some downloadable store - Steam or JAST USA, I guess are the only players here?). Even if it's not licensed, I'll try to import it; so far I've used J-List and Mandarake for that. I actually just today imported Sekien no Inganock through Mandarake, since it looks like that's going to win the August reading club vote. But, I have a different financial and living situation than most people here which makes that easier for me - I have my own apartment, and I have a job that pays well enough for me to afford an "expensive" hobby like importing VNs. Compared to hobbies like skiing, this one is cheap. Edit: I also meant to mention that the only VN I've played which I failed to buy a copy of is Comyu. If you for whatever reason come across a copy of it and let me know, I will happily pay you a reasonable finder's fee Edit 2: VNDB lets you list what releases of the game you've obtained, and I actually fill that out, so if for whatever reason you're curious, you can see the full list of what I've bought there.
  6. ice cream cone! As she licked my ice cream cone, ...
  7. Is it nobler to sling the arrows of outrageous fortune, or to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune?
  8. True. And heterochromia iridum is always the clear winner (in fictional stories where it isn't almost always accompanied by some sort of associated impairment). Next person was asleep when this was posted.
  9. Yukino Part 2 done. Closing in on wrapping this up...
  10. blushed like a sunset. Then I gently...
  11. Ooh, I hadn't even heard of Tales of Berseria before. Looks like it's going to have the most badass Tales main character since Vesperia's Yuri, and a female to boot. I'm already hyped!
  12. Yeah, I've noticed that trend myself, but I'm somewhat more interested in nakige (Symphonic Rain is probably at the top of my "want to play" list right now, with Angel Beats right behind it). Chuunige is a close second for me on genre, though, so I have zero complaints about this month. I'm just a bit less aware of what's out there on that front. The nakige + chuunige blends, like Rewrite, certainly seem to hit a good note for me.
  13. False. Next person prefers onee-san over imouto.
  14. What happens when you play a country song in reverse?
  15. were wearing another skirt. I realized...
  16. Ahh, ok, then that is one feature I'd certainly opt-out of, because of the way you can't limit the sharing; and if it's on by default, I can see why people are unhappy about it. Doesn't seem well thought-through. That said, even if that feature is a misstep, overall security seems to be improving - Windows Hello is, finally, a step towards a secure login alternative to passwords, and I'm reading vague rumblings about more baked-in support for multi-factor auth. Given that constant corporate security breaches are the norm today, I'm happy to see any move that gets us a little further away from passwords, just to make it less impactful every time someone announces, "Yep, we got hacked, and they probably got your password".
  17. False. And something about the way that was phrased makes me afraid to even search for it. Next person eats pizza in the morning, pizza in the evening, and pizza at suppertime.
  18. That was entirely too positive. Clearly it's time for hsmsful to change his avatar to this:
  19. Confession: I'm actually surprisingly excited about successfully guessing the source anime of Shiko's title. Yes, I know it was easy. Let me have my moment.
  20. I played Kanon all the way through on 8.1 with no problems, and I played the first ~30 minutes of Air with no problems, before I got distracted by Fate/Stay Night. I've definitely had some VNs not work well on 8/8.1, but I was always able to resolve them by reading enough pre-existing tech support threads.
