  1. Pretty much this. Profiting off of fandom related works is illegal to begin with, and only considered socially acceptable in the form of art commissions (drawn for non-commercial use) that use fandom characters.
  2. If you list out any 10 traits you're not going to find many protagonists who fit them all. Characters aren't so cute and dry. You're going to find many characters who have 5 or 6 or 7 or even 8 of these traits, but the chances of finding a bunch of protagonists who claim to be all 10 are slim. It's not just because of the specific traits you chose lazy, always tired, easily bored, careless, clumsy, soft spoken, introvertive, humble, forgiving boastful, loud, energetic, athletic, extrovertive, decisive, headstrong, narcissistic, cheerful, manipulative cold-hearted, intelligent, distant, resourceful, quiet, charming, eloquent, hot tempered, spiteful, self-centered I could go on and on mixing up lists of 10 traits. You're not going to find a perfect 10 that is showcased in many protagonists. You can't really complain when other users list characters that possess a fair deal of these traits because they don't fit a couple of the ones you listed.
  3. The price tag isn't a big deal. Hamlet has produced an amazing webcomic over the last few years. She has a solid fan base that buys these hardcopiea for just a little less than the game which has a lot more content than the comics. Personally I spent $150 on the kickstarter for this getting 3 foil comics, a shirt, the beta (aka I've had the game for a few days now) and 3 posters. Starfighter has been one of my favorite comics since release
  4. I was super excited when I saw this news. I'm so happy I own a Vita. Can't miss games with a cast full of males and a good looking setting!
  5. Lol this would have been a helpful podcast to see before I convinced my boyfriend to read a VN with me and he picked out Grisaia. I've never read it and I don't know if it's newcomer friendly I just know there is a lot of talk around it and out of 50 or so different VNs I he looked through this is the one that stood out to him. I can't really contribute to the podcast the way others can but I'd be very interested in seeing this for future recommendations for friends, and maybe a good second/third VN for my BF if Grisaia works out well.
  6. I don't know that there was a general discussions thread but I know there were plenty of Dangan Ronpa titled threads around the board. Most fans call it Dangan Ronpa not DanganRonpa. The first is what it was called in the original translation the second is what the official translation labeled it as when they went to put it in catalogs. As for the game itself, it's one of my favorites. I'd have to disagree with you about the trials because I thought every one of them was fun and I enjoyed the game play mechanics in the trial portion of the game. The story also worked around those characters a lot more than you gave credit to. You say most of them were crazy or stupid or normal but that really wasn't the case. Each person was NOT the best at everything (as you said above) they each excelled at just one topic and their character was based around it. It would have been really easy to give Celeste gifts if you had picked up on it. Not a single one of them acts 'normal' because they take everything to the extreme. On top of that it is there SHSL talents that give them away. Nobody but Leon Kuwata could have thrown that ball. Nobody but SHSL popstar could have convinced Kuwata that they could make his dreams of becoming a famous musician true. Chihiro's character relies on living a virtual life, Ishimaru and Mondo were perfect foils for each other while both of them exlempified their skills and is Ishimaru was anybody else he wouldn't have totally broken down when Mondo was gone. Celeste and Hifumi foil wouldn't be as impactful if you didn't see them on a different level and the only real reason you do see them as that is because Celeste is a high class gambler and she makes enough money to sit up on a pedestal. Otherwise they're both lovers of fantasy. A normal group of high schoolers couldn't realistically pull off most of those murders in either game. The biggest example would actually be the last murder in Super Dangan Ronpa 2. I won't give it away but the entire murder hinges on their SHSL talent and couldn't have possibly been replicated by anyone else. Not anyone in the game not any person on earth. Literally only this one fictional character could pull off this murder.
  7. Not only that look at her hand position on the first one both are wrong. In that first image she has the hook between the fingers but in the mirror she has her hand to the side.
  8. Isn't like half of Sekai's work just reworking previously fan translated pieces? if it makes you feel better I'm a grill with a male avatar in a community full of males with waifu material avatars.
  9. I read some school aged type VNs but then those end upbbeing ike Dangan Ronpa. I don't know that I've ever read a full on moege before? I really enjoy dark themes. As for heroines, it pisses me off that everyone and their mother are still a virgin when the protag bangs them. Otherwise the few that aren't are antagonists it feels like. I'm all for some mature women who have had actual experiences and understand a bit more about life and love. I'm not saying I want females who screw every boy they meet but that whole shy way too innocent for a kiss thing weirds me out. Other than that I like the school setting but I wish there were more good realism settings that weren't school. It is like school, fantasy, sci fi, horror. No modern "realism" without the school. Can we not have mature women in an office or part of a book club or like journalist buddies? Something?
  10. I don't know. I'm not saying Katawa Shoujo is bad, but it feels like the overall consensus is that halfway through Katawa Shoujo it's like it doesn't mater that they're disabled anymore and the novelty of it wears off. I feel like the way Hatoful Boyfriend plays itself off it doesn't feel like you're no longer in a Pigeon Dating Sim halfway through.
  11. This isn't Katawa Shoujo, it's not like the game's quirky approach falls off 10 minutes in. Yes they're pigeons but it's not really a joke. There are a lot of otomes like that about girls who date animal boys or cupcake boys or any number of themed things that happen to be boys.
  12. I've been avoiding Sharin no Kuni for a lot of different reasons honestly, and I'll probably continue to avoid it because a badass MC can't make up for all of the things that made me cringe the first time I looked into the title. I might look into Grisaia when the official translation comes out if it gets good reviews, but I'm avoiding it until Sekai Project finishes it because I'd rather pay for my VNs if possible and I doubt I'd play the game more than once. Other than that I've actually had Swan Song on my list of games to play but you couldn't pay me to pick up a title like Planetarian or Muv-Luv because (besides the fact I can't stand Key's art) I won't knowingly touch anything pertaining to "space" or "mecha".
  13. All girls school with 1 guy in it # realism. In all reality I think it is hard to get a truly badass MC. That would be because a badass MC is uncompromising. In a VN witch choices it just doesn't work that way. Honestly the most badass MC I know would be the guy from Hadaka Shitsuji because when you decide not to be badass you get sent home early or you get a bad end. Then again Hadaka Shitsuji is a yaoi about a guy who takes up a temporary position as master in a mansion and degrades/rapes butlers for a month. The lack of realism in it made it a good read for yaoi fans despite the main themes but most VN readers on forums like this are guys so it isn't the best of eroge recommendations
  14. Dangan Ronpa 2 counts...Naegi on the other hand is a total pushover for the most part and doesn't really have a backbone until the very end.I mean chapter one is the least badass we could possibly get in a protag
  15. Yeah. That's what I was saying you should just do school mode for grinding report cards/monokuma coins because otherwise you would have to grind CH1 to unlock it all c: there are also special school mode events like date trips and school mode endings that you can only get by using your trip passes (you get those in school mode once you complete a monokuma prototype) after you have all the report cards filled out. Honestly that really sucked for me because I used all my coins to unlock stuff and so I had to scrounge around what items I had to make my FTEs work during school mode I had to finish the game the first time and get the coins to be able to unlock enough items to finish everybody's FTEs.
  16. You can't finish it through grinding the fifth trial if you want the report cards. You HAVE to do the respective character's free time events which means you have to grind CH1 for all the characters who die then. You get 200 coins if you successfully co.plete school mode though and school mode is mildly entertaining c:
  17. If you do school mode you can unlock their report cards and get monokuma coins jic you didn't know
  18. I can't stand 3D girls. C: bless the gods I don't believe in that I'm a straight chick. I'm picky about my 2D girls and I mostly like them for their looks and then a few tropes like yandere and witch girls <3 If my VNs had real life feeling girls in them I don't think I would make it more than an hour into the VN. I have this one girl I'm friends with who will talk eroge, video games, and yaoi with me and she's pretty much the only chick I can stand. I have more potential waifus in Princess Evangile than I do in real life, man.
  19. chocolate tests Not really as long as you know how to play your type. For example let's talk about the party. There are hints that going could be potentially dangerous. I know divination and internal affairs (?) will tell you specifically that it isn't safe to go. Other than that there are mentions that it might not be safe for Elodie to go out. Also that's not how the archery check works. There are multiple ways to stop them. There are 8 different ways to save yourself, pretty much. Not really, you didn't have to go to the party at once, it was only if you decided to go to the party you needed to be proficient in one of the above skills. Of course you don't always live and it isn't always easy. Not on the first time when you don't understand that taking every class once or twice isn't going to be very helpful. But the thing is, a raising sim isn't defined by whether or not it is possible to totally screw up raising a person and get them killed. You're still raising a princess in a harsh world. You can still do it in a number of ways. And for the most part there is foreshadow to all of the events. Literally the only ones without good foreshadowing are the ones where that bitch is trying to kill you, since you don't trigger them yourself, and even then I mean it's still pretty up in the air whether or not the foreshadowing is good because they give you multiple chances to avoid the scenario.
  20. Not really? It takes multiple errors for it to be over. First off some errors (for example executing one of the noble girls) will lead to other errors (a revolt, war between kingdoms, fight to the death) and if you fail tha t you fail. Basically you had to make 2 mistakes, more mistakes if you count the multiple ways to solve the problem. Let's explain with the crazy lady someone wants you to execute . Your death wasn't trial and error it was you raising a chick not to respect people and then trying to solve problems in ways you haven't taught her to solve problems. Or how about the famous chocolate scene? Again 3 steps to survive you just have to pass one of them. You get pretty much 3 chances for everything and 1 chance is always a big list of skill checks that you just need to pass 1 or partially pass a couple to succeed in. The game is super common sense in that you raise your princess the way you've taught her. If you didn't teach her athletics you don't put her in adventurous situations if you didn't teach her how to handle people you avoid making speeches. It IS a raising Sim and pretty easy to win with many different princess types if you know how to play to her character
  21. Long Live the Queen is a raising sim. You raise a girl to become a queen in a year by changing her mood and teaching her different classes.
  22. The good news is Sakura Angels had so little sales compared to Sakura Spirit that they might stop after game 3-4 if sales keep dropping. Wait is Nameless or Dandelion good? I keep thinking about getting one of them but I've been on the fence.
