Same. Though the thought usually comes to me in the form of `You don`t even have time to PLAY games and you think you`re ever going to have time to MAKE one?`

Ahhh. Well if the objective is comedy I think we should throw out all the historical/obscure context stuff and just make it some silly euphemism for homosexuality that all the readers would know but that goes over the other girl`s head. `He might start... playing for the other team` Or... wow is that the only non-super-offensive euphemism I know for homosexuality? I don`t know if that`s a really good or really bad thing. Huh.

I mean, eye of the beholder and subjective preferences and all that but I don`t think a decently funny gag comedy like Galaxy Angel belongs on a list of worst anime. If I was picking a gag show to throw on the pile I`d pick Acchi Kocchi but Nosebleed`s already seen that. Edit:... and given it a 9. Well.

You could play off the obscure historical aspect of what`s being said and say `He might end up joining the Sacred Band of Thebes`

I don`t know if it gets better as it goes along but I guess try Kamichama Karin. There were some hilariously bad scenes in the early episodes. At least one of the voice actresses sounds like they had to drug her to even get her to act in it.

Final Fantasy Unlimited is boring and crappy and the more you love about Final Fantasy the more you`ll hate about FF:U. From the bizarrely bland opening to the low-budget animation to the constant filler or worthless episodes to every episode wasting 5 minutes to show the stupid summons... man the show just straight up sucks. I don`t really know any others. That`s the worst show I ever actually sat through, other shows I just tend to drop as soon as I lose interest so I can`t really judge them. I guess you could try some shows that I just found pointless like E`s Otherwise

Last Remnant is only $5. I know it sucked and got panned when it was on the Xbox but they fixed it up for the PC release and turned it into the best JRPG that is currently available on PC buy it now trust me gogogo. No I'm legit serious here, Last Remnant will blow you away, especially for $5. Just make sure to look up a guide if you want to see everything the game has to offer. It's one of those where you have to kind of go out of your way to see all the stuff that the game has.

Man that is awesome. I'm probably going to make a few more tries with the party I have now (I went as soon as it opened up so I have Maxim, Guy, Dekar and Selan) and then go beat the game twice so I can unlock that mode. I really am starting to love Mysterious Dungeon style games, though I wish more of them were turn-based RPGs like Lufia instead of being action RPGs like the majority of the genre. Still, I think I'll pick up Shiren 5 for Vita and the Touhou one when that hits too. Edit: Woooooo! Found Strong on floor 2. Edit2: AND Champion. For some reason I never have a run where I find one but not the other, and I usually find them close together. Too bad neither can save me when blue chest mimics eat my face.

I would say the worst translation is the one that is made alone. A single person allows their ego to dominate the translation, fixating in their mind that the words they are choosing are the right-est and defending their decisions tooth and nail. Translators should be humble, realize their inability to convey 100% of the original meaning, and should also rely on a team to support them. Translators need TLC and editors to glance over their work to make sure they didn't zone out and miss a kanji or two and also to make sure their English parses well. To me it's not about the content but about the team and community atmosphere. A good community or team effort can polish even a mediocre translation into an enjoyable one, but alone even the greatest translators out there will deliver something shoddy.

The most beautiful anime/visual novel?
Getsuya replied to Userage's topic in Anime/Manga Recommendations
Try Figure 17. The scenery is pretty beautiful and the music goes with it very well. The characters are also really adorable. Trailer: For VNs, maybe try Quartett? I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder but I really like the art style that company uses and the instrumental orchestra music fits really well with it. Trailer: Edit: Also, if you want to see the beauty of the world in a new way, I recommend reading/watching Kino's Journey ~The Beautiful World~. As the tagline of the series reads: 'This world is not beautiful. Therefore, it is.' OP -
I'm stuck in the endless hell of Lufia 2's ancient dungeon. For anyone who hasn't played Lufia 2 I highly recommend it, it's a really amazing RPG by Natsume that came out pretty late in the SNES's life, so it's absolutely packed full of content. It's got so many crazy systems and puzzles and secrets that it's just fun the whole way through. But halfway through the game you get the option to go to this optional dungeon called the ancient dungeon. It's 100 levels long, and randomly generated. When you go in you start at level 1 with no equipment and have to find equipment and items in random chests. You could get piffly weak weapons or super strong Godkillers or anything in between. You could go a whole run without finding a single heal spell (which usually means dying very quickly) or you could have a perfect run only to die to some unlucky crits or a random mimic treasure chest wiping your party. Your only goal is to get Blue Chests, which give you equipment that you can take out of the Ancient Dungeon and use in the normal game (everything else you get in the ancient dungeon is removed whenever you exit). Your only other goal is to collect 8 treasures which go on display at a museum by the dungeon, but that's really only for street cred since they don't do anything for you in the game itself. I can't imagine running this without a fast-forward button and emulator (to save state before opening any chest, lest it be a mimic) because even with fast-forward it usually takes me two hours per run (my runs usually end either in death or running away by the 30th floor or so... haven't gotten anywhere near the bottom). The only way to beat it is to keep going in time after time, slowly collecting a full set of Blue Chest equipment which you can take back into the dungeon whenever you start it again. It has absolutely nothing to do with the plot of the game, and actually beating it will make the game completely broken for you with the super over-powered crap you get in the dungeon, but man it's so addicting and fun. I almost feel like going out and getting the new Shiren the Wanderer game for Vita since it's sort of the same thing. (nah I'll wait for the Touhou dungeon game, that looks even better)

I just don't see how the sequel to a game where you could

I don`t really get the obsession with western RPG/action game makers and randomly adding canine companions to games. Considering that in the context of video games we could literally have any animal the creators wanted as our sidekick, why do they keep defaulting back to something lots of people actually really have in real life?

I wasn`t going to buy this until I saw Nanako dancing to the Junes theme then I decided I should buy it. (then I decided not to again because my Vita is exclusively used for reading all-ages VNs)

Maybe it would be easier if we all just became our avatars, though I think then the scale would reverse to being mainly female with a few males.

The Chinese woman I work with has started really disliking me somewhere along the way and it makes me kind of sad because we used to get along well together. We are both foreigners in Japan so we shared lots of thoughts on how Japan differed from our home cultures. Now she always speaks to me in negatives, for example: `Didn`t you check your mail?` `Didn`t you see the notice?` `Shouldn`t you have done that already?` always in a very condescending tone. And I know when people are complaining they often use the term `always` without thinking when in actuality the person doesn`t do these things as much as they think, but I assure you recently this has become an almost 100% certainty whenever I talk to her. She also very deliberately throws me under the bus for no particular reason. I make a minor mistake, something that really didn`t make any difference in the long run, and she says `Oh don`t worry about it` to me, but then as soon as the boss would come in she always makes sure to mention the thing I slipped up on out of the blue. It also seems kind of mean because when she does criticize me she immediately looks for support from the other two people in the office, saying `ne?` to get them to agree with her. Neither of the others really cares about any of the small stuff she calls me out on (most of which, I should point out, are not actual mistakes but things like not having read an e-mail yet after having just barely logged into my computer for the day) so they just sort of shrug it off but it gives this bizarre sense that she`s trying to make it `them` against `me`. If I wasn`t just a lowly contract worker about to end my contract and leave I would imagine she`s trying to make a power play to get some leverage in the company except A. like I said I`m not even in the hierarchy to begin with and I`m leaving anyway and B. there is no `up` in this particular office... she`s not going to get any pay raises or rank-ups in an office of 3 people. So I really don`t understand it. So I`ve decided to pretend she`s being a tsundere and is really sad to see me go so she`s acting mean to try and make it easier to say good-bye to me when I leave. When I look at it like that it kind of becomes :3

An interesting point was made in Flowers (a yuri VN I'm reading on Vita): one of the girls points out that outfits that reveal cleavage are aimed at attracting guys, while outfits that reveal more of the leg are aimed at attracting girls. I don't know how true this is but I wonder if yuri art has a trend like that. Thoughts? Not being a girl interested in other girls I can't really comment on it myself except to say that personally I prefer a cute face to either cleavage or legs.

Flowers just keeps getting better and better. I wasn't too sure if I'd end up liking it for a while. The beginning is really pretty, but soon afterwards it kind of gets bogged down by how shy and hesitant the main character is. But it definitely picks up speed and toward the middle of the first route it just absolutely has a deathgrip on my heart and I can't stop reading. I think this series is going to become one of the main staples in yuri VNs, and I think there's a good possiblity of it being translated at some point since MangaGamers has already released another Innocent Grey title. I'll have a full review up on my Vita review blog once I'm finished (shouldn't take too much longer; I think the 2nd route re-uses a ton of the text and there's only the 2 routes) but if you can read Japanese and like yuri there is absolutely no reason to bump this series up to the top of your to-read list.

I'd take it a step further and say it developed around where the old Uchida station 'used to be' just to make sure the reader knows the station isn't there anymore.

Ori is the most adorable thing ever. I almost wish this was a AAA title just so we could get some merchandise out because I want a plush Ori nownownow.

Fuwa is a wonderful community full of people who are all very sad when even a single of our number leaves. Though not every single name may get mentioned in this thread it would of course not mean that the un-named would not be missed were they to leave. We need all the various voices, from the newbiest noob to the saltiest old dog to make the beautiful harmonious choir that is Fuwa.

If people could, please put the names of anime you recommend in bold to make it easier for folks scanning through the thread for recommendations to find them among all the posts.

Going back through all the anime I know... man there's a ton to talk about in this thread. Hopefully people don't get tired of hearing me talk about them.
