  1. So much for "the sadistic part of writing". On the bright side, she would've been a boy, so we wouldn't get that wonderful dress of hers. If you ask me, one reason I loved Erika was that she was there when Beato was at her lowest, so if they had to share the spotlight for long I'd gravitate towards Beato more. But they didn't, so she really shined, especially when they clashed.
  2. Damn, I'm so jealous. Thanks for this. The following are just my ramblings. Were his culprits ever brought up? I'd be surprised if they weren't, as they scream, "I'm the culprit!", when you read his works again. Other than that, I guess it works well with the looping style of When They Cry. The style definitely is obvious. Most people criticize Higurashi on its shock value and for it deliberately confusing the reader as much as possible. That's the biggest weakness of When They Cry. BT was his editor, right? I also heard he died. That's quite sad. That's pretty noticeable. And it works well, seeing as it's another thing When They Cry is praised on. I haven't read that. I thought it Kusarihime, but I haven't read it either. I'll remember that quote. It's nice to know that he's close with his audience, although I bet a lot of people hate him after Umineko's EP8. I think he needs to distance himself more though. I definitely did. Thanks. I eagerly await for the update.
  3. Rose Guns Days - Leo is a fun guy. I've only played a little, but I'm charmed right away. He's fun, lighthearted, strong, and decisive. Remember11 - Kokoro is a rare female MC in the VN world. And even rarer is how natural her character is. She isn't indecisive and spineless, but she isn't completely sure of herself either. She's a pretty average girl, which makes her likable. Satoru is really smart and capable of things. But isn't dry either. He also takes the time to make info clear with the player and shares his thoughts. Neither of them stand out that much though. Shikkoku no Sharnoth - Another rare female MC. Mary's really cute with solid characterization that makes her relatable. She does fall to the indecisive side, but she grows really nicely. The way it's pulled off isn't that irritating either, at least for me. I've heard of people who don't like her, so maybe it's not a good mention, but I will anyway. Umineko no Naku Koro ni - It might be a bit hard to classify who's the protagonist here due to several perspectives, but they're all great. Determined and complex, with both their good and bad sides.
  4. So basically the first. Funny enough, the JAST version does include the sex scenes involving bestiality and scat, it just doesn't have the CGs where the insertion is actually happening, so there's basically a woman laying there and an animal next to her, the rest is up to your imagination Oh damn. I dunno if I want to read this or not. I'd probably get sick if I did, and I don't think that's worth a few laughs.
  5. Did the scene last 5 hours, or did you read even further, or did you read one scene for 5 hours for "reasons"?
  6. True Next person hates metafiction of any kind.
  7. False Next person has an unusual fascination with a pretty trivial aspect of a scene. (e.g. Ange jumping under the moonlight)
  8. Honestly, I don't think that's weird. Things in fiction are rather dramatized, after all. And if you travel into a character's mind more then you feel it more.
  9. This topic is priceless. The closest thing I had to this was Mary's h-scene in Sharnoth, and fortunately the steampunk series' h-scenes can't really be called porn. My little brother went into my room, and he has a habit of staring at my laptop screen (which I hate). When he started staring it was toward the scene's end, and the cg just looked like Mary sitting down, naked, but almost completely covered by black things. Her face was even stern. I dunno how I'll handle anything in the future though.
  10. What about Higanbana no Saku Yoru ni? It's short. And it has elementary students instead.
  11. A character like that is not only boring, but he's pretty much going to fix conflicts easily. I cannot see him encountering any problems. And really, no conflict=no plot.
  12. I'm disappointed at the lack of Kanon girls. They're quite cute after all.
  13. As an aspiring writer, I do feel crushed and at the same time understand where he's coming from. I'm too sleepy right now to elaborate. For now, I'll just say that I do write for my ego.
  14. I got depressed after finishing Umineko because I could relate to Beatrice in a lot of things, and in each interpretation of hers at that. I couldn't read, watch, or play anything afterwards for like 3 months. @Rabbit Nagisa's pretty obvious, but I'm interested on why Kotomi.
  15. Is fanart okay?
  16. I started Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, and just bought The Count of Monte Cristo. Admittedly I don't read that much, but I would like to.
  17. They were portrayed as such, so it wouldn't surprise me. Also, didn't Kanon mention that Kinzo taught him how to use a Winchester during his EP6 soliloquy?
  18. Everyone except Eva and Battler died in Rokkenjima Prime, that's the only established fact. The "murders" may or may not have happened, and if someone was murdered it doesn't have to be the way on one of the forgeries. Welp, I need to read the manga.
  19. While the theme is important in a story, the author himself is not. And let's not go to Higurashi. At the very least, discuss the points of why you think Getsuya's interpretation doesn't work, but something like, "The author wouldn't do that!" is simply far-fetched as we aren't the author. Also, what Getsuya is trying to say is that the themes in When They Cry are presented with Red Herrings. In Umineko's case, the established facts are basically everyone except Eva and Battler is dead. Rokkenjima went boom. Majority of the red truth applies to one specific game, but none of those games contain the Single Truth. The only red truths that apply to everything are pretty much, "There are no more than 17 people on this Rokkenjima!" and "Kinzo is dead." Umineko's mystery is a red herring not in the sense that it didn't happen, but because none of the mysteries contained that Single Truth.
  20. 10/10 Getsuya, made me tear up. But we're goats too, right? First Game, Second Twilight: Also, what would you say Ikuko, Featherine, Dlanor, and Will represent in the grand scheme of things?
  21. Hmm, I was just joking at first, but thinking about it, I would say yes. From my understanding, the image of VNs are pretty bad for two reasons, one being that there's porn in most of them. There being quite the amount of Nukige doesn't help. Sakura Spirit comes across as a "porn game" despite there being none, and its quality is poor. I also bet it would be easier to come across that than a random Nukige on say, Mangagamer's site. Personally, the moment I saw the cover art my judgmental side cringed. Although I guess there are more Nukiges out there than the plot VNs but the people turned off by the porn should be shown that despite it there is something of worth. I doubt they'll find what they're looking for in Sakura. For the follow-up question, I think I'd try to pique their interest in a good story, and bring up the fact it's a VN later. Question to everyone else: If someone you want to get into VNs is pretty adamant about not doing so, how would you go about it?
  22. You're cool for always being entertaining, but sorry I didn't listen to the podcast. I always lose patience in a recording that long.
  23. I should too, but I prefer text. Hmm, fair enough. But at least highlight on how the Rosa + George combo can create the First Game, First Twilight. Presenting it all as a video crammed with several pieces of other info is a bit... Ah well, that may just be me complaining. Edit: ninja'd I'll post something on First Game, Second Twilight afterwards.
  24. Enjoy all 9 hours of that. I'm not exactly a hater of Rosatrice, but rules are rules. Also, this is a DISCUSSION, not a PRESENTATION. At the very least attempt to solve the current problem at hand with your own words and go with the flow of the topic. As for the basis of the presented argument, there were several moments in which Eva herself was hinting that the culprit is her. Eva and Hideyoshi's motive has also been presented from the first dinner; it being a need for big, fast money. Another thing worth mentioning is the suspicious placement of Shannon's "corpse". She got into a corner where it's hard to notice her. If she was dragged there as a corpse, then there is no need for the culprit to leave her there. If she was dragged there as a person, then why go to that corner? The fact that ONLY Hideyoshi confirmed the death is suspicious as well.
