  1. Seen High school boys and enjoyed it. Watched some of shimoneta and hated it with a vengeance after a while and dropped it. Will slowly but surely investigate the rest. Thanks!
  2. Same thing I'm afraid. Don't worry, while I love comedy I have trouble finding something I really laugh at. I'm a hard nut to crack and I guess I've watched most everything that fits my taste.
  3. So I finished watching https://myanimelist.net/anime/5781/Isekai_no_Seikishi_Monogatari Tenchi muyo war on geminar. I didn't notice it was yet another part of the massive Tenchi muyo universe until I started watching it. It was an odd show which started as a very serious mecha show and then spent then next 6 episodes in pure harem comedy land. After that it went back to progressively more serious mecha while maintaining the harem comedy components. It was good fun, mostly during the earlier harem moments in fact, and the fact that Tenchi was ridiculously overpowered while remaining very modest was stupid fun. I didn't expect any harem or romance resolution so I only viewed it as a comedy and to that end it was a success. The serious aspects didn't really hold much dramatic tension for me but that didn't worry me much nor interfere with me enjoying it. Shows that hold dramatic tension for me are ones I simply cannot stop watching and with Tenchi I could watch one (double length) episode and then go to bed not really caring what happened next. One thing that bugged me a little was that everything looked blurry; I couldn't tell if that was original or a BD encode issue or what but I kept feeling like everything was slightly out of focus. It was still well worth seeing and entertaining overall, 7/10. @kyrt I'll eventually be checking out your revised list shows next from the rom &/or com perspective but I still have a few other shows I started that I never finished that I should probably return to first, and my source of shows (ahem) disappeared recently so it'll be a lot harder to source them now.
  4. Moribito - Guardian of the Spirit. Fantasy, great characters, strong female heroine, lots of intrigue, zero ecchi, non harem.
  5. Surely not. That never happens! I translated both of those routes and only Tsubame and her brother (who cares about him) spoke Kansai-ben.
  6. Tsubame yes, Hikaru no - Clover Day's is still in translation (I haven't finished yet). The Twins in To Heart 2 - Still in quality check (I haven't finished yet). https://vndb.org/v20 Midou Kotone in Osananajimi to Ama~ku Ecchi ni Sugosu Houhou (untranslated) https://vndb.org/v456
  7. Thanks! Tried it previously, didn't find it funny (it's on my won't finish list).
  8. Give me something good, no drama, sub only: https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/MyAnime/?user=Ittaku&categ=3 Thanks
  9. Interviews is beautiful at times and solid for the rest of the time. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Hikari, which means light, really is a shining light throughout the series which is ironic given she's a vampire
  10. Thanks very much for all those. I've heard of all of them but not investigated and getting them is quite difficult too since they're quite old. Do they all meet the happy conclusive ending requirement? I've heard bad things about mahoromatic's ending for example.
  11. Just watched Koe no Katachi, aka A Silent Voice. Another excellent film, though not quite as good as Your Name, and far more drama than I was expecting (and hoping for.)
  12. Ernest Hemingway is often credited for having said "write drunk, edit sober", and while he didn't actually say or do that, I can see why the misattributed quote would be popular. Try doing it with less and less alcohol on board each time.
  13. Here's hoping I can finish the To Heart 2 translation project before it celebrates 20 years too
  14. Should I be worried that you've misspelled even the title of your work...? It's Practitioner .
  15. Moved Steins;Gate up to my recommended list. Added Ultra Maniac.
  16. Okay I finally finished Ultra Maniac, hooray \o/ It has dated like a lot of shows of its time (2003). Interestingly though, it hasn't suffered the slow pace problem of shows of that era - that it would take forever to get to every next line of dialogue, and I'd end up watching them at +10 or +20% speed. This didn't suffer that with quite a good pace. It was also, in many ways, a bit of a golden era for anime so I'm willing to forgive any dated elements for the other aspects. However, the whole magic girl stuff with long drawn out transformations and magic computer scenes that were never cut short really started to drag. The magic fails in the first half are rather contrived and childish, but I can generally put up with that if it has other redeeming features. As a result the first half was pretty plain and harmless and only mildly entertaining. The second half of the series is more about the characters though, and of course, it's a romcom with a happy ending, so how can I complain? It mostly goes according to what I'd expect without a great deal of surprises but then I did find myself smiling and laughing more as it went along. I have no idea how it deviated from the manga but it was still fun. It mostly avoided any long drawn out drama, the characters were fun and more fleshed out than they first appeared and overall was fun. More than happy to have watched it, 7/10. It's also one of those shows that I probably would have rated higher if I'd watched it in 2003 so really it's a decent rating for a show this old. It also gets to go on the ultimately satisfying anime list. Next up, as per @havoc's recommendation, Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari
  17. Most of us would be looking here: http://anichart.net/Summer-2017 Nothing obvious to look forward to, so lots of gambles.
  18. I watched one episode and gave up. I guess I needed to try a teensy bit more.
  19. Yeah I figured as much, but given how popular S2 is, there will no doubt (one day) be an S3. I didn't really understand why S2 is only 12 episodes anyway. Always with anime funding/programming choices weird shit going on, there be.
  20. Well that sounds very disappointing but luckily I'm not inclined to read the manga and simply can enjoy it right up to the point where it fails in anime.
  21. Don't you hate it when something is really popular out there and everyone raves about it, yet you can't for the life of you see the entertainment value in it and don't like it at all? It's strange the way taste is like that. ... However I'm glad this time I'm actually on the other side of the fence. I'm loving Attack on Titan Season 2 even more than I liked the first one. It's brilliant entertainment (to me.)
  22. Loved is too strong a word; it's more like... you're liked.
  23. Boy does AoT deliver again. I can really see the pieces of the puzzle coming together and they have a great balance between character and plot development and action and suspense.
