  1. Ewxactly. Our only purpose left, in their eyes, would be to be brainwashed and buy their shit. Like Tiagofvarela said, either they don't take our jobs (Though they clearly will, as they're already doing), or there will be great social change. There undoubtedly has to be change, in favour of the 99%, or we'll basically be seeing a "Wall-E" scenario become our new reality. I certainly don't want humanity to become so absolutely worthless.
  2. Human behaviour is far too inconsistent to use as a way of defining humanity. For instance, just to give some extreme examples, one could argue that Hitler really believed that what he was doing was in the best interest of his people, or that he genuinely thought that the "Final Solution" was the answer to a lot of the world's problems, and that he used this to justify his actions. One could also argue that figures such as Mother Teresa only ever did good works for fear of going to hell, and not out of compassion. Basically, humans' actions are only half the story: one must also ask about all the possible motivations. And since even the actors themselves sometimes can't give a straight answer to such a question, it's incredibly hard to measure such things. However, we can measure biological traits and DNA. Therefore, in the real world, it's best to use that to determine what is "Human" and what isn't.
  3. Haha, Tiagofvarela, you beat me to it! What are everyone's opinions on the work aspect of improving automation? It seems to me that, if things progress without any popular intervention, people won't even be workers anymore! Our only purpose then would be to live solely as consumers, which, if that is actually sustainable, is an existence I would rather not live! As long as the upper class sees the workers only in terms of monetary worth, we'll just become targets for advertising and political propaganda, and nothing else. However, we wouldn't need to fear the rise of mechanical capability if we weren't living in a state-run capitalist society. Our job positions and our value within society would be secured if we could only achieve a non-hierarchical, classless, libertarian society.
  4. The writers wanted to stick strictly to the five characters freatured in the original concept art. Unfortunately, there's no evidence with which to propose that Misha's bisexual; regardless, I quite like Hisao x Misha fanfiction.
  5. Red and black, the colours of Anarcho-syndicalism. I always loved red. It's the colour of passion; strong emotions of any kind; struggle; and, of course, socialism. Black is the colour of nothing, absence. (In this case, the absence of the state.) These colours, combined so, mean a lot to me and millions others.
  6. I totally know how you feel. I'm into my last year of secondary school, which, as I'm sure is the case for most people, completely dictates how successful I'll be for the rest of my life. lol We all say the same thing: "I'll have no life for one year so that I can have a good one after."
  7. They were different then, though. Yu's manga-name was Souji, and Makoto's was Minato. Neither of those names ever were canon: they were used for convenience amongst the fans.
  8. Then, they're not "default" names. P4's main character now has a canon name in the series thanks to P4A, but none of the others' names are conon in the game series at all. That goes for Makoto Yuuki as well: until P4A came out, Yu's name didn't exist in any game and therefore wasn't canon.
  9. Agreed. It should only be allowable for VNs with no voice acting. I escpecially hate this trope in video games, where it's still going strong. RPGs like "Persona", which rely heavily on character relationships, should obviously have a default name for their protags. This is just common sense.
  10. It's okay for the first playthrough, of course; but everytime after that, I find myself wishing it were shorter. "Rewrite's" common drove me mad. If they could at least present the same exposition in unique ways for each route, I'd be willing to read it more than once; but having a massively long common like "Rewrite's" was simply taking it too far. Key has no excuse for this: the common route for "Clannad" was much better in this respect.
  11. Just one, "Under Night In-Birth", a really cool fighting game quite different from others I've played.
  12. If all parties are willing and such, one can't really tell them that what they're doing is wrong. That said, such an "ideal" situation is. at least as far as I can see, quite rare; and I for one could never take part in such an arrangement.
  13. I like reading WW1 stuff in my spare time. School and even a lot of other sources often focus on it merely as a cause for WW2.
  14. Gaming, anime, history, linguistics, and, of course, linguistic history. I love competitive gaming, like "Startcraft" and CoD, as well as RPGs like "Earthbound" and "Persona". My favourite historical topics are early 20th century Europe and the history of the English language.
  15. You need to find someone to talk to in English. This shouldn't be hard at all. If you really can't find someone in your real life, I suggest finding a friend online with whom to practise. (A native speaker, of course.) Check out a penpal social network website if you need to find someone.
  16. Funny, I like the ones you don't for the very reason you don't. I prefer the Nii-san, Aniki, and, above all, Nii-sama. It's a more interesting type of relationship, IMO. Also, I associate the onii-chan with annoyance, so.
  17. Mephisto = Because everyone else's interests bore him.
  18. An organised Fuwa invasion of an MMO might be pretty damn fun, actually.
  19. はじめまして、ノヴェルエアーさん!ここでお楽しんでくださいね。 聴いては良かったら、何で日本語を勉強して始まりましたか。 どうぞよろしくお願いします。
  20. Welcome to the forums good sir. If I might ask, what brought you here?
  21. The title ought to be changed at this stage. It gives the impression that OP isn't happy that IRL child pornography is being combated.
  22. In short, if you weren't caught buying it, it didn't matter if it were found in your possession. Is that supposed to be good enough? Of course not. This is big news.
  23. Well said. I mean, if this argument held any weight, it'd then be reasonable to say that "Catcher in the Rye" was responsible for John Lenon's murder.
  24. Whoever wrote Emi's route in "Katawa Shoujo" and made it so that trying to stay healthy locked one onto her route. u.u
  25. Can you blame them!? They have a point: it's about fucking time this gets stamped out. It's disgraceful.
