I'm currently reading Dies Irae and boy, what a VN to end your 6 month hiatus from reading VNs. I've read Kasumi's and Kei's routes so far and they were both pretty great. The action and dialogue is really good as well. Also, it takes a lot for a VN to not have any characters that I outright don't like and this VN somehow pulls that off. I don't really know what else to say about it, but I truly await the next time I get to read it (which is tonight probably).

The feeling is mutual.

I think the issue was that it was quite hyped by a lot of Japanese readers. The thing with me is that overhype or any kind of hype doesn't get to me at all. I usually do know the reputation of what VN I'm about to read, but that doesn't ruin the experience for me.

Well, it's inherently got a lot of moege traits to it, but it deals with a lot of serious stuff and philosophy and the such. I know that a lot of western readers didn't get its appeal anyways. I'm in the minority of liking the game a lot.

I can get past weird art as long as there's a great story behind it. Trust me, it's worth continuing through that chapter. Subahibi's quite the interesting work and I think you'll begin to like it a lot more later on.

I still don't get why that hasn't been updated, especially because there have been some really great VNs that have come out since that got made. Not saying it doesn't have good choices by any means. It's just that I can see a lot of spots that can be either replaced by better choices or some more spots could be added. I dunno why I ranted on this. Just ignore me.

That also. There are too many problems with that company to count, but that also applies to every VN localization company. Sekai just has more public issues with their company overall.

The problem is that they license hyped VNs and then botch their releases and nobody besides the Steam market would ever wants to read them because of it.

Based on your VNDB, I'd say you haven't read enough serious VNs (besides apparently Subahibi). Here are some VNs I'd recommend. Warning. There are a lot. Himawari Ever17 Steins;Gate and Steins;Gate 0 The House in Fata Morgana Cartagra and Kara no Shoujo 1 and 2 Grisaia no Kajitsu series Root Double Tokyo Babel Enigma MYTH Saya no Uta Have fun. You'll be quizzed on these later.

All I can hope is that companies start releasing a better ratio of story-based game to moege, but we all know that won't happen.

I'd keep no expectations personally.
