Made me look up this game... The summary had me rather ... Uhh, weirded out. Looked up some CG. Cant... unsee... The theme of Euphoria is teenagers + teacher trapped in a insane underground eperimental facility or something and they have to survive lots of sexual grotesque games unless they want to get electrocuted by a device installed by their neck.

Sorry but is the choice of the Steins Gate El Psy Kongroo!

Eh from what I read on the kickstarter page it seems physical backers won't get a steam key and will have to wait untill January/early February.
-
Clannad has been released with a discount of 15% and cost now 39,09 euro and the original cost is 45,99 euro.

But that's precisely the problem with Japanese visual novels in the West: the market is super niche. If you can't appeal to a wider audience, you're bound to not sell very well, and this could potentially make developers like Key back off from localizations. well, if they try too hard to appeal to people who doesnt really enjoy reading In general, and who prefer fast gameplay etc. It will have a negative effect on the people VNs are originally supposed to appeal to. You simply cant please everyone. That's not the issue here or what I'm trying to argue. I'm saying that if you want people who don't know visual novels at all to experience them, and possibly become visual novel fans themselves and help the market grow, price points this will mostly have adverse effects. now that is probably true, but that really isnt their intention as of right now I would think. For people just getting into VNs, a long and time consuming project like Clannad probably isnt the best place to start. My friend just got into VNs, and he is having trouble getting through if my heart had wings, which is in the same genre, but significantly shorter. but you raise a good point there. There should be more cheap options available, though Clannad probably isnt the VN to achieve that with, considering its length and hefty translation time. Sorry if my comments seem kinda scrambled, I'm on 3G net on my Iphone atm. Most games on steam usually have a fair price and if you aren't still too convinced with the price you can still wait for a big sale or weekly sale where vn and other games are sold by half the normal price. Except for princess evangile who haven't been on a sale for very long time...

Normally games cost 50$ at launch and I always found strangely weird they sell visual novels for lower prices. I mean they sell the novels as if they were vita games which is strange. I guess the amount of money it cost depends of how much content and how long the vn is?

Artifacted text in The Fruit of Grisaia (18+)
Dark_blade64 replied to Decay's topic in Voluntary Tech Support
Becuase laziness? That or frontwing didn't want to implement the extra CGs from the all-ages in both versions. -
The game is not that bad but taking into account they cut 40% of the game (If that's true I haven't confirmed it) although it shares some similarity with battlefield, previous battlefront games and even plants vs zombies garden warfare, but the game is different than the other battlefront games and that's what most people are complaining about. Like I said before the game had issues in term of balance on the beta but most of those issues has been fixed already.

Sorry for going a little off-topic but who is Kaguya??? http://forums.fuwanovel.net/topic/2151-50-translated-vns-you-should-read-before-you-die/ but it doesnt matter, what I or anybody else says, play the novel and watch the anime, everyone should get their own conclusions about this types of things because in the end opinions are subjective things, which one is better? let your own analysis decide. Considering other people perspective in the matter is not that bad choice either, you can still gather information about the product but holding your opinion highly than others is basically the normal course of action afterall you are the one who wants to experience the enjoyment of trying the product and rated based from your own perspective. I totally agree with you that opinions are subjective things it could be said the whole world is construced bias subjective thoughts. Now if that is wrong or right is completely unknown to me becuase who can say what is wrong or right? Was something right/true in the first place? I'm not sure if you get what I mean but what I'am saying everything is just too complicated so lets just continue our lives without worrying too much about it. (Somehow I dragged this conversation and made it to a very long one and went a little off-topic sorry for that. ) An alt of SolidBatman's. People tend to prefer the anime because they view it as a decent representation of the visual novel, and it's a lot shorter. Clannad is incredibly long, so people under time constraints tend to view the anime as a viable option. People who want to immerse themselves in everything Clannad will like the VN better. The VN also tends to drag everything out quite a bit, so once again if you want to immerse yourself in everything Clannad this is a bonus, if not it's a negative. I don't dislike the thought of immersing myself and have the full experience of the world the game represent itself becuase it is interesting to know how it works and see the different variation of characters and what if scenarios. Time constraint is the biggest enemy when playing visual novels but also when playing many different type of games regularly so sometimes I must choose between different titles wisely depending of how much time it takes to beat them. I actually watched some chapter from the anime a long time ago but I stop watching so I didn't spoil myself the VN.

Sorry for going a little off-topic but who is Kaguya???

And don't forget an extremely long novel aswell. Some eroge tell heartwarming stories too. I wish vn companies could bring more all-ages titles to the west I wanna try some of them also they wouldn't have to censor anything. By the way in which chapter Daru mention Clannad? I either forget about that or haven't reach that chapter yet.

Dergonu a fellow hype guy has appeared! This will be my first time playing Clannad too. I guess most people are interested to see how much the new translation has improved over the old one.
-
Well if you love the old battlefront games you won't like this game. Although the game is not that bad my biggest issue in the beta was the unbalancing but it has somewhat being fixed already. There is some cool features like the jetpack and nice selection of weapons but of course locking parts of the game is an annoying move from their part.
-
I heard it was removed becuase it contain sexual content but that would be a stupid motive so I discard that possibility.as nonsense. Which mean I don't believe that was the real reason. Well the game was a crappy version of goat simulator not to count goat simulator was a tech demo to begin with... Anyway the only reason this game was published on steam it was becuase some people asked the developer to do it. At least that is what I heard.

I would be far more worried of how US and Russia are expecting to deal with the problem. I just hope a war doesn't start.

The calendar year really has nothing to do with things, the world is set up under a competition system with countries and belief systems always vying for dominance. And those who lose out will always harbor resentment and ill-feelings towards those who are victorious, and plot their downfall. The world has been comparatively peaceful during recent times because America has been so much more powerful than anything else they've been able to assert their dominance over the world and keep an order that's been relatively beneficial to the West and their beliefs. 'Modern culture' really has nothing to do with peace, and expect more upheaval to happen in the future I'd just like to say my thoughts are with the security detail and police that had to manage this affair. These people get a bad rap in society during peace times, and their mistakes get amplified in the media, but public order (and the ability to defend your country) are almost the most important things to a country and they have a very tough job on their hands. Tougher today, obviously. These guys do a magnificent job. My thoughts and prayers are with anyone effected. How is it that we are still on 2015 (almost 2016) but still behave like 1000 even 2000 years in the past, it's always the same, struggle for power, fighting for religion, killing each other, and nobody wins, when people die everyone loses, seems like it is on the human nature to act like this, but as any other creature on this planet we should be able to evolve and leave those things behind and cooperate, it puzzles me how we actually move foward in some things but still are the same in many others. Deep blue I sincerely request you to refrain putting everyone on the same boat as some stupid mass murderers. Last time I checked I don't seem to recall having an urge for commiting murder. Simplified version stop saying this is human nature, dude what you think no one can think for themselves or what? What human nature and whatnot I'm sure I can act by myself without having to follow the so called human nature trend. Seriously telling people to evolve? If by the chance you didn't notice humans are currently the highest intelligent creature currently existing on earth. sorry if i offended you but clearly you misunderstood my message, I don't think this is the time or place to speak of this things and I'm sorry I brought it to this topic. Apologize accepted. I have no need to continue to make a fuss over something like this. Just will tell you I didn't feel offended, the reason I replied was something else but whatever.

Which visual novels has the most amount of choices?
Dark_blade64 replied to Dark_blade64's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I won't deny the plot sound quite interesting too bad I won't be able to play it becuase it is an adult title. And no kidding thing like these actually are happening in the world. Hundred of twisted pages exist dedicated to these twisted practices in the internet. Once on the news a woman was sent to prison becuase she put her daughter inside a microwave like wth? Changing topic I got curious why someone is specifically targeting those related to the protagonist... A cult? A sick organization? A military or experiment program from the government or... (A crazy yandere in love with him abducting the girl he likes thinking that will make him happy?) Dun Dun Dun! -
Any existing visual novel with similar pemise as Gate?
Dark_blade64 replied to Dark_blade64's topic in Recommendations
Well I was looking more for a visual novel about a whole country trying to opresse explore and make contact with the people beings living on the other world (also some political drama I mean no way a new world appears without other countries being interest on it.). I agree this theme is more present in RPG. Alternative is in my buy list when it comes out on steam actually. Thanks though. -
Which visual novels has the most amount of choices?
Dark_blade64 replied to Dark_blade64's topic in Visual Novel Talk
its not really primiray about the high sexual content, but its context towards real-life that screwes your mind & yeah there are tons of pretty super bad endings, devastating ones mind whilst reading through. took me like ages getting everything The funny thing is the vndb page says nothing. Absolutely nothing about the plot. Well I can imagine is about somekind of sick bastard or group of people taking a liking of the darkside. One of the picturse was showing what it looks like the main character doing nasty stuff. Well in whatever case it is someone seemed to have been posting videos/pictures of their criminal acts on the internet... I can assume the theme is corruption? -

I suppose your friend is such an authority on VNs that his opinion should be accepted as fact? It's a polarizing game. A lot of people hate it, and a lot of people love it. I wouldn't listen to just one side and come to a conclusion, especially one that doesn't have the preparation, consideration, and objectivity of a good review behind it. He's a pretty trustworthy guy when it comes to VNs. Plus, I played most of the beginning of the game and I hated it. The protagonist, Makoto Itou is a cheating scumbag mother trucker and makes me want to punch the goddamn computer screen whenever I see his face but that doesn't make me hate the game. In fact, I think the game is doing a pretty awesome job when it makes you hate a character so badly (especially with villains) and it constantly takes you on an emotional roller coaster ride. Well that depends of the player. He hasn't to be a womanizer if you don't want to... The only problem being the fact Makoto isn't a villain, but the game's protagonist. School Days does deserve a clap for proper usage of choices, but I'd hold on with saying it's a great game; in fact, it's far from perfect and presents a lot more flaws, than strong points. That is a lot of endings reminds me of virtue last reward Blazblue is a fighting game with vn elements. When you lose is not technically choosing, just the game continuing mostly leading to a bad ending. I looked up the game and I was like. Oh oh! Sexxual content combined with gore can't end well. -
You can also find a couple of good all-ages translated Vn on steam cheap (would recommend buy vn when they are on a sale though). The vn market is getting more popular on steam so you will be able to find some good examples by next year I pressume (Clannad will be released this year on steam for example). Also if you don't mind more adult titles Mangagamer store I know has some variety. If neither option is approachable for you there is some vn who has been translated in consoles like (Daganronpa, phoenix wright, virtue last reward, xblaze etc.etc.etc),

Which visual novels has the most amount of choices?
Dark_blade64 replied to Dark_blade64's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I know about the lots of choices tag but I was thinking more about the amount of choices (more or less like giving a vague guess about how many choice you think the visual novel has). Besides certain novels like clannad aren't listed as having lots of choices in vndb but in reality it still have many choices. -
Which visual novels has the most amount of choices?

Alright I started this thread becuase I got quite curious of which visual novels have the most amount of choices. I've seen list of the longest visual novels out there but never haven't seen any about choices which makes sense but my point is in your opinion which one has the most choices? I heard Clannad supposely has like 30 choices per route which a lot taking into account it has like 8-9 routes + After story.
