How would you introduce animes to your parents ?
Sparteh replied to Pinkaw's topic in Anime/Manga Talk
I knew of a guy who once showed Elfien Lied to his mother. After roughly 15 minutes he was forbidden to watch anime ever again. Luckily I was there and somehow managed to convince her to give second chance. At that time I showed her Grabe of Fireflies. She cried so much after that. Well, how you convince depends on parents themselves. Shingeki no Kyojin, Kimi no Na Wa, Steins;Gate, Rurouni Kenshin Trust and Betrayal OVA ( NOT original series, but OVA Trust and Betrayal) etc. -
I have seen plenty of great BGM here so I won't copy them again. This one so nostalgic and sad.

People above summarized everything quite well, even looking at explanations as a linguist. Human brains is amazing thing. When you read/study/use language you automatically imprint specific patterns into your brain and don't need to translate. In fact, many people who read a foreign language (any language, not limited to Japanese) can easily understand the meaning while not being able to translate it.

It is hard to describe. It left me with a feeling that something was missing or was cut off.
-
Well, disappointing endings are very subjective topic. For example, I hated Eustia's true ending while others loved it. Tsukihime - Arcueid's true ending is another thing that nearly ruined another route for me.
-
As someone who actually liked Re:Zero Light/Web novel, I personally am quite looking forward to it. Has it been confirmed already which heroines will have their routes?

@Clephas Thanks for answers. Japanese gaming terms were never my strong point If music in Hapymaher is as good as you say it is, I will definitely check it out. I love VNs with good OSTs. That was probably the reason why I liked Eden* so much
-
I have 2 questions: 1 - Is Hapymaher more of Eden* style nakige or more like Angel Beats/Clannad After stories anime type (with implied/bittersweet/semi-happy ending instead of pure). I keep hearing mixed comments about this. Some say it was epic, others say it was trash... 2 - Stay sane during prologue? Stay sane as in Saya no Uta style or Umineko (mystery)/Steins;Gate (physics theory) style?

Can any of you explain your suggestions aka why you recommend them?

Finally caught up with Fairy Tail and Tokyo Ghoul RE. Have been saving chapters for a while.

Hey. This time I came here not because I need extra recommendations, but in order to decide what to read from my plan to read. I know, it sounds silly. I should finish both Eustia and Mahoutsukai no Yoru in the next few days and since I am on holiday I want do reading marathon. Sadly my Japanese skill level is nowhere near to being close for Dies Irae or Muramasa. I am not sure about some of these (those which do not have translations) as well. I would also like to avoid gameplay since I am terrible at it and simply because I play VN for stories and not playing. I also prefer happy endings. So opinions, recommendations and so on would be welcomed. Here is the list: Angel Beats! Baldr Sky Dive series Bradyon Veda Devils Devel Concept Eien no Aselia -The Spirit of Eternity Sword- Evolimit Grisaia part 2 and 3 Hapymaher Irotoridori no Sekai Kagetsu Tooya Kami no Ue no Mahoutsukai Kyokugen Dasshutsu 9-Jikan 9-Nin 9 no Tobira Kyokugen Dasshutsu ADV Zennin Shibou Desu Mirai Nostalgia Root Double -Before Crime * After Days- Sakura no Mori †Dreamers Sakura no Uta -Sakura no Mori no Ue o Mau- Semiramis no Tenbin Sharin no Kuni, Himawari no Shoujo Subarashiki Hibi ~Furenzoku Sonzai~ Suzukaze no Melt -Where Wishes are Drawn to Each Other- Tasogare no Sinsemilla Tenshi no Hane o Fumanaide

You are joking, right? Mahouka is known as shippers tragedy for a reason. All ships failed there. As for NGNL I guarantee that vol 6 was the best. Trust me, one of the best volumes not only in series but overall that I have read and I have completed hundreds of them. Finished reading Rakuin no Munshou first 3 volumes. It was quite good, but I need to get 6 untranslated volumes so I could do reading marathon.

I have been spending a lot of time in this subforum lately I came here with another request. Could someone recommend me VNs which would fit all of these conditions: Fantasy, action or mystery; If untranslated - relatively simple Japanese (Tokeijikake or Eustea level of slightly above). True end = good end. I am very tired of endings like Kara no Shoujo, Shinigami no Testament or endings which are pretty much "MC/Heroine(s) die/ self-sacrifice and leave other to deal with aftermath." For now I want something different. I can still accept somewhat "less happy" endings like Umineko or Key styles though. Ps. Currently I am reading Eustia and Balrd Sky and am wondering if someone could spoil me ending style (based on 3rd point I made above). If it falls under those categories I would like to postpone/stall reading of these 2...

So I finished main heroine routes except for Chinami. I decided to skip this route because: 1 - I hated her; 2 - game kept breaking during the "bed scene" choice. In order to play Yume's route and skip this error/chinami route I downloaded save data online. It worked and all. I managed to replay 1 of heroine routes just to test it. When I chose Yume's route I read festival scene (which should only be playable if you go for her route), CTRLed remaining scenes to the point where all routes start and continued to play, but for some reason Asuho's route started. Do you have any suggestions? I pretty much only want to finish Yume's route now. Ps. Though I doubt it is needed but: windows 7, locale set to Japanese. Edit. Never mind. Fixed it myself.

Thank you. It worked

How can I do that exactly?

When I try to open Hoshizora no Memoria - Wish upon the shooting star I get this weird message http://imgur.com/a/8G3C6 I tried those things listed in FAQ. I am not sure if this has English patch, but the one I am trying and WANT to play is Japanese version, not English.. Also I use w7

Need help to decide order in which to read and some tips
Sparteh replied to Sparteh's topic in Recommendations
Thank you all for opinions. Well, my Japanese level is indeed low, but currently I am already reading my 3rd VN in Japanese. I think that after I finish the franchise I am currently reading (currently finishing Tokeijikake part 2, the last route is remaining and after that 3rd part) I will pick up Grisaia next. -
Could someone help me to arrange following VN list in order of difficulty in Japanese from easy to the most difficult: Grisaia no Meikyu Grisaia no Rakuen Aiyoku no Eustia Dies Irae Mahoutsukai no Yoru Root Double Soukou Akki Muramasa Shinigami no Testament Tsubarashiki Hibi Dracuriot And give me some hints/tips which would make my life easier when I read? My Japanese level is still very low so I want to try to enjoy these VNs and use easier ones as preparation for more difficult ones

Is there any way to make Shinigami no Testament work without dvd on windows 10? So far when I install the game it closes immediately after I open it. I then manage to find update 101a file and now it does not close but ask for disk. No dvd patch does not work on this version. Any suggestions?

Could someone recommend me VNs which could be considered to be what I can only describe as magical/fairy tale type. What I mean is stories similar to: Umineko + Magic ending; F/SN Fate route + Last episode (Realta Nua); etc. It might be vague but I don't know how to describe it better.

Yeah, it would be fun if it stopped crashing after about 5-10 minutes of playing... Typical Muv Luv crash. It happned during Sumika's route, during Unlimited and Alternative endings...Aready made a post in proper place in forums. Well, girls I liked were: Meiya>Kasumi>Yuuhi>Entire Valkyrie squad>Ayamine=Senseis>the rest of Unlimited girls>random girls who appeared only for a few momments>Sumika As long as I get to play first 3 (I will play in Japanese if I have to) I don't mind the rest.
-
Today I downloaded Muv Luv Altered Fable. It starts fine and all, but it crashes very soon. It happens after a few minutes of playing during scene where MC, Kasami, Sumika and Mitsurugi sisters go to school after part where cooking contest is decided. I get error message similar to that which player can get during original Muv Luv Sumika's route, Unlimited prior the last MC's daughter's scene or during Alternative after last cutscene before credits...
-
Just finished Alternative. I decided to play Fable later this week. Still I have 2 new questions: 1 - Could someone give me a link where I could find script/text which was spoken at the very last scene? (After the best 3 girls transfered XD) 2 - Well, I think I should be able to finish Japanese version of Fable with my poor skills (about N4) and Translator Agregator. But could someone list all the routes it has? There should be more than the original Muv Luv heroines but also routes like Kasumi's right?

Thank you. I have been looking for Walkthrough to track time, but failed. It seems that I have finished roughly 20% of entire VN.
