My thoughts exactly my friend. If that happened many people would no longer be ashamed to admit that we read VNs. Lets be fair. Many of use live in very conservative countries so we are often misunderstood. VNs as a medium has many advantages. Just route system alone is a major thing. VNs have also proved that they can have an interesting and well written stories: S;G, Umineko, Morgana, Ever 17, Higurashi etc.

I join Planatarian group. Short, compact, good. From long VNs: Rewrite. Funny enough, I also one of those who liked Moon route the most.

Can you remember the first 5 VNs you ever played?

Absolutely nothing wrong? The guy lives in a dream world and his "this is wrong" thing is just stupid. He tries to help people, walks into traps even though everyone points out it is a trap and puts those who trust him into danger over and over again. Heck, the only thing that keeps him and his heroines alive is deus ex machina -
I will name 3 because they serve different functions: interface function, narration style, and plot. Completion percentage. Some VNs have extremely long routes. If you read without checking some sort of source, it can get annoying at times to read something. Connected routes. Of course it is nice to read routes as completely different stories, but personally I love stuff like Multi Route mystery. Perception based choices. I mean such choices as Umineko's final/only choice. Those choices that do more than just determine heroine.

Does DDC really have more soundtracks like these? I am currently playing it and it sounds like something to look forward to XD Lets see what I can add. I won't bother with Umineko or Rewrite. Lets start with some of Eden*. Contains spoilers. And I know this technically counts as cheating, but everything from Guilty Crown Lost Christmas, because it shares best of its OSTs with anime:

Because everyone are united in hate for 1 mc and likes to argue about loli? -
Well, I dropped those guys who asked me all this a link to the thread. Now they can't complain. Though I personally got particularly interested in your 2nd answer. No offence, but you seem as a guy who reads everything in row. Why so negative about KnS?

I never said that these words contain them, did I? I merely stated that this translation has such mistakes. As for siscon, as a translator I can say that translating these kinds of expressions is a pain. When you translate, you have to adapt as much as possible to target language. Technically speaking, such words as siscon, loli, NTR etc. are not proper English words, so translators have to be creative here. In fact, depending on the country and company, translators can even be fined if they don't translate in a certain way. So while it may sound strange, there isn't much one can do about it. -

It would be great translation if not errors. For example, there has been numerous occasions where I have seen "9" instead of "g" -

I haven't exactly tracked the time, but I would say it was more or less equal. Though due to the fact that Haruto was so annoying it felt longer than it was -
I know a few people who play VNs, but don't have accounts so they keep asking me various questions that I can't answer since I haven't played most of VNs they are interested in. So I have decided to make a list of all those questions and ask them here: Rose Guns Days VS Subahibi for next long VN and why? (for person who loves plot based VNs and chuuni, but hate moe) Is Kara no Shoujo worth playing considering it is a mystery vn and a person was heavily spoiled about the ending of VN? How good are Baldr Force and Zero in terms of plot compared to Dive? Good VNs with MC similar to Senri from Sorcery Jokers? (besides Grisaia) If one decided to read 1 Key work, which should he choose: Air, Kannon, Clannad or Little Busters? (considering that person read Rewrite and liked Moon route the most)

For importance, it is debatable. Technically they should be more or less equal. Though, for me personally, Senri felt more important. This is a bit of ending spoiler, though I won't include details, just a little of general outline. Skipping Haruto? Well in the end all information was shared through the story. Though, you would miss all backgrounds and important facts about 2 heroines. Also, his route focus more on certain aspects, that were only a bit mentioned in Senri's part. So in the end it wouldn't work. I wouldn't recommend skipping it, BUT I know how annoying Haruto is, so if you want to skip something, you could skip some of SoL dialogues. And yes, he still stays annoying, though some people would claim that not so much. -
Clephas Guide to a fun untranslated chuunige life
Sparteh commented on Clephas's blog entry in Clephas' VN home
Nice list, as always, but I have a question. What was they main factor that the listing was based on? For example, you listed Shinigami no Testament at lower level that Evolimit, though in terms of grammar, Evolimit was easier than Shinigami. Same goes for vocabulary. At the very least, I played these 2 in row and found Evolimit much easier. -

Well, they were a bit annoying, but nowhere near to the level of the Haruto. Just a short info about story structure. It has NO spoilers about plot itself, just a way how VN is structured in terms of routes. Still, I will put it in spoilers, since some people might not want to know it. When it comes to heroines, I have hard time choosing the best. Overall as a character, Fiona was the best, but the way how chemistry worked, 2 of the best scenes in entire VN (at least in my opinion) were with Noah. -

It depends how you look at it. Main story does not have actually game impacting choices after all. H-scenes aside, those "girl epilogues" weren't any good. If I had to decided, I would say that Fiona's was the best one. -

Then I won't spoil. I will just say this, I disliked ending due to 2 reasons. Partially because, like I mentioned, I found it underwhelming. Other reason, there was a plot hole (or at least I missed something, but I doubt it). -

It depends on taste I guess. For me it was underwhelming. Of course, I didn't expect anything on the same level as lets say Umineko Magic End or Baldr Sky Dive endings. It was lacking. Furthermore, it was even worse than endings of the some short VNs I have played, i.e. Phenomeno or Guilty Crown Lost Christmas. If I had to compare, it was on similar level and terms to Shinigami no Testament. I could tell more, but that would be heavy spoilers. Do you want to know more? -

Finished entire VN. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Just a few thoughts (spoiler free): Senri was cool. Probably one of the best MC. Part focusing on him in my opinion was much better than one focusing of Haruto. Speaking of which, the only character I disliked more than him was the final villain. For things concerning shipping, I liked Senri's and Noah's interactions the most. The final scene in which they appear together (before final credits) was probably the highlight of entire VN. Considering that this is chuuni VN, fights are the most important in the end. Even those were much better if Senri was involved. -
In your opinion, do visual novels portray romance realistically
Sparteh replied to ratboi's topic in Visual Novel Talk
+1 Romance in fiction: characters actually care about each other, are loyal, help each other and would sacrifice for each other. Real life: love=money or other benefits, cheating and betrayal everywhere, chance that you will be backstabbe sooner or later... -
Can't say anything about Phoenix Wright, since I haven't played it. Decided to post because I want to add something to Grisaia entry. Since you already mentioned that it is Series, why don't we add remaining entries of the franchise: Grisaia no Yuukan, Grisaia no Senritsu and Grisaia no Zankou. They might be side stories, but still add to overall story experience

I personally see him as a dumber version of Shirou Emiya and that is saying a lot... Btw. What do you guys think about romance element? I mean it is kinetic novel so we don't have choices. Furthermore, each MC has 2 heroines. I haven't finished it yet so I can't say for sure, but isn't that pretty much a guarantee of an open ending, in which all romantic build up becomes useless? -
The best heroine is without a doubt Asako. If anyone disagrees they need to reread Meikyuu. As for order I would say Asako>JB>Kazuki>Sachi>Yumiko=Amane>Michiru=Makina

It depends on the taste really. I have played about 7 hours so far so I can't truly judge it, but from what I have seen so far, it is average. I have played better chuuni, but have played worse as well
