Today felt like the plot of some bad TV show. At work my boss call everyone into a meeting room and gave everyone personalized chocolate hearts. Everyone except me... With everyone looking at me embarrassed and awkward she tells me "Don't worry I have something special for you." She then hands me info on the available severance packages. But hey, chocolate is on discount tomorrow!

Anyone use Twitter or other social media often?
finiteHP replied to NowItsAngeTime's topic in Members' Lounge
I have Facebook to keep in contact with some online friends. By keep in contact I mean I read what they post but never post myself. I have Twitter to follow some game companies and some artists but I never tweet. I use social media in an anti-social way. -
English Visual Novels. It refers to ones written in English as opposed to just translated, though I sometimes see ones translated from other western languages included as well. It's basically anything not originally Japanese. Don't quote me on this, but I believe the etc. includes her trying to kill you.

I'd like Milla Maxwell from Tales of Xillia if you get down this far. Thanks.

I've had that dream twice that I remember. The first time all I could get were no girl bad ends (just like real life ). In the second all I got were nonsensical options like those codec conversations from MGS2.

He only uses the giant robot against giant opponents. In most of his fights he uses summoned swords and lightning powers.

I played Hanako's and liked it quite a bit, but couldn't stand the thought of wading through the early stuff again right away. I picked it up a few months later and did Emi's route and didn't really like it. Picked it up again a few months after that and did Rin's route. I barely made it through her route. I think I even dropped it for at least a month partway through, but maybe not. I picked it after about a year and tried Shizune's. I dropped it when they visited her father. That was about um... 2 years ago. Haven't had any urge to go back and try Lily's route.

It is odd. I have never seen another VN have a season pass. Most don't have any DLC, except maybe a soundtrack or art book. Season passes may have a negative connotation with some people as they don't like paying for DLC before it is released. Since the DLC will be free it's more of an oddity than anything else. i haven't played it yet as I was waiting for the Enhanced Edition, so I'll probably get to it in a few days.

I'd personally prefer Febuary with just English audio to April with dual. I want the game dammit!

I'd be concerned about what happens when fur grows back in the shaved area. Does it push the floor up? Does it create an itchy, matted area on the creature? Or even worse, can the fur become ingrown as it grows back in such an enclosed area?

It's somewhat interesting, but Nintendo being Nintendo they'll announce a new handheld next year that won't compatible with it.

A Different Kind of VN Company - Your Feedback Wanted
finiteHP replied to EcchiOujisama's topic in Visual Novel Talk
1. As long as it didn't raise the price much, sure. I would only be interested in reading the "Americanized" version. 2. Have it be a decent price is all I need as long as the VN interests me. I have no interest in physical copies. 3. Doesn't bother me. 4. If the translation is better, sure. 5. Nope 6. Steam provides the best exchange rate for me so as long as a patch is provided I've buy it off Steam 7. Nope 8. More likely as long as the quality is good. -
As I said, the exchange rate is the only reason I prefer to buy from Steam. Sure, if there is no patch available I'll buy directly from Mangagamer, JAST, etc. but if it's an all-ages only game or has a patch I'll save myself $2-$10 and buy it from Steam (more with sales of course). Yes I know buying directly from the publisher gives them a better share, but most of that difference in price just goes to the credit card companies anyway with their exchange rates that are nowhere near the real exchange rate and "currency conversion fee". When I'm paying almost paying double what I had to a couple years ago due to the shitty dollar, I take any saving I can get.
-
The only reason I prefer to buy VNs off Steam when I can is the exchange rate is better on Steam, due to regional pricing, than what credit card companies use. Assuming the game is going to be any good, I hope they release a version that doesn't require VR. I don't have enough room to make VR worthwhile.

One of the biggest barriers for me is not being able to try out these headsets before buying. No way am I going to pay that kind of money only to find out whichever headset doesn't fit over my glasses comfortably or makes me motion sick. I haven't seen a store with a floor model of the Rift or Vive yet. Maybe it will be different for PSVR. Another big barrier is the exclusivity. I'm already not really a fan of system exclusive games, but I don't want to have to buy a different headset for different games. PSVR isn't quite as bad to my mind since it's already for an exclusive system, but I've heard that games released for the Rift don't necessarily work with the Vive and vice versa unless the developer specifically develops it with support for both.

Personally I liked Tales of Zestiria. It wasn't as good as Tales of the Abyss of course, but there are far worse ones in my opinion like Tales of Legendia.

For me there is a fine line. I don't mind one that wants to peek at the girls at a bath house or seeing a girl changing, but if they start stealing panties (especially if they want to sniff them or use them to masterbate) I lose interest but may keep playing. One that starts attacking girls is generally a deal breaker.

Chrono Clock Sudden Kickstarter Announced
finiteHP replied to littleshogun's topic in Visual Novel Talk
They've now said what they mean by Nutaku exclusive. It will be on Nutaku a month before Denpasoft. A timed exclusive in other words. -
Chrono Clock Sudden Kickstarter Announced
finiteHP replied to littleshogun's topic in Visual Novel Talk
What I find most confusing is they say a bunch of places that the 18+ version is Nutaku exclusive, but then in a comment on the Kickstarter they say "you will have the option to choose from Denpasoft or Nutaku to redeem the download." in response to a guy saying Nutaku is blocked in his country (Japan). Is it exclusive or not? -
Definitely Persona 5. FFXV doesn't look like it will be very good. This is coming from someone who thinks FFXII is the best Final Fantasy since VI.

Frontwing asks your thoughts on an issue regarding Corona Blossom
finiteHP replied to trickzzter's topic in Visual Novel Talk
When I saw it on Steam, I assumed it was a Hidden Object game. It wasn't until Rooke's post that I found out otherwise. -
I'm surprised they are releasing it since they already print money with the Metal Gear pachinko machines.

Was it hard for you to move on after Katawa Shoujo?
finiteHP replied to Nuka's topic in Visual Novel Talk
It wasn't my first VN, but all the ones I played before it were shit so I suppose you could call it my first VN that a lot of people like. I didn't have any trouble moving on. Actually I never finished it. I dropped it after a few routes. -
Dharker Studios is planning to make 8 games this year?
finiteHP replied to jetpack003's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Ah yes, Echo Tokyo. I backed the first Kickstarter back before it became obvious how horrible AJTilley/Dharker Studios is. I don't remember all the "issues" that came up, but here are the ones I remember. At first it was going to be a large sandbox VN with a manga prequel. The first problem was that the artist he had hired took a large amount of money and just disappeared. This, if I remember correctly prompted the second Kickstarter. His next artist couldn't meet deadlines, but because he liked the artist's works so much he just kept giving the guy more time. He then decided the game should be split into two parts in hopes that the first part could be out before 2020 and then made them one again, and split them again, and merged again, etc. He eventually decided to get other artists to make the secondary characters and then had problems with one of those artists. Next he converted the manga into the horrible Echo Tokyo Intro VN on Steam to try and milk some money. Finally about 3 months ago he finally decided that there was no way he could currently make the game and offered refunds as a "someday, many years from now, I will make this game as it is one that I am really passionate about. Those of you who stay will get the game, but for those of you who are tired of waiting I offer a way out." I took my refund gladly, so I have no idea what has happened since. Funny how fast these "many years" passed. It feels like 3 months.
