Hi! If you're still browsing Fuwanovel... shouldn't you be out partying and celebrating the New Year? Anyway. You're here. We'll work with it. A topic was moved here this evening called "FuwaDirectory" which tried to identify people who are currently working on projects or the site itself. It's not perfect, but it's functional enough that I wanted to get it out the door so I can focus on more important stuff. I'd love to get a little feedback from anybody with the time and inclination to opine: Do you think this is helpful? The pictures don't look great. I get it -- I didn't have photoshop installed on this computer and so the best I could do was normalize image height. But do you like the idea of having semi-up-to-date avatars in the directory? If anybody wants to dream up a standardized "icon" template (maybe a frame in a transparent PNG?) I'd be happy to reformat the pictures Any suggestions for how to improve it? EDIT: I didn't include some of Ren's projects specifically because I wanted to talk to him, first. A lot of his best work is meant to be a personal project and users too often interpret it as a community project. I didn't want to do the same : )

Wanted to let everyone know that Tiagofvarela* has been chosen to head up the Dev Boards BM team and join the GM ranks. I wish both of us well as we start dealing with the inevitable and numerable PMs we'll be sharing as we get the dev boards rolling. *(just FYI -- I spelled that from memory. Boom.) A lot of very talented and 100% qualified folks sent in applications. I responded to each one as of early this AM, so please check your inbox. Many of my replies had questions for the applicant. Please lend him your support -- the dev boards hold a lot of promise, we just need to get the system ironed out -- and lend him a hearty congrats.

Thanks! Because I like repeating people: When you get "new scene" notices it's either referring to new scenes in the actual game (you'll get the "New!" badges over the location tile) or Eclipse scenes (generally H-scenes, but not all) which are accessed on the main menu. As long as you're repeating the days looking for the "New!" and "!" badges, you won't miss anything.

The Western VN world is kinda small, but it can feel pretty big at times. We're looking to compile a list of the key players, or "movers and shakers", in the Western VN world. Very Simply: Share who you consider must-follow figures in the Western VN scene (such as translators, websites, translator groups, licensing/distributing companies, and people of influence). Note: The Western VN world, not the Japanese people/companies making Japanese VNs. Please share as many sources as you'd like, but please take the time to include a little info for each one: The name of the person/group/company/site A brief description of what they do/did/are Links to websites, social media accounts, blogs (or whatever is relevant. If the person/group has a twitter, I'd prefer that you include it) Remember -- the more comprehensive this list is, the better! Please help us out! What will this do? This will be factored into the front site redesign, but will also likely find its way into several other projects (such as VN intro kit). Once the list is complete, we'll publish it here on the forums right away so you can have it for your own reference (figure out who to follow on Twitter!)

tldr version: if you want to help out Fuwanovel but don't want to spend a lot of time reading the community board, the threads in this board will be the specific to-do items of various Fuwa projects. You can scan this board and help out right away. Full version: A lot of people like Fuwanovel and want to help out. However, many of those people don't feel like wading through my and others' walls of text in the Community Projects board to get to the pressing to-do items. They're probably the smart ones. This board will host active to-do tasks (and nothing but tasks). Each post should be as concise as possible and be extremely clear as to what you need help doing. Any Fuwanovel project can utilize this board, and any member's project which benefits Fuwanovel or is approved in the community board can post tasks here. As soon as a task is complete, it should be moved the the community board's archive. This board should remain as clean as possible. PS: This board is part of the soon-to-be-released new system of running Fuwanovel. Yes, I realize it's a new board, and I'm sure that'll bug lots of people. We're going to try it for now. Title: Recognition Team Leader Position Description: The Recognition team is going to be a group of volunteers who will be tasked with noticing and publicy recognizing cool people, cool projects and cool discussions in the Fuwanovel community. The team will make forums posts, blog posts (working with the blog editor, Zaka), and submit suggestions to the social media teams about the cool stuff they find. I need somebody who has a good pulse on the forums (and is willing to learn more about/follow other aspects of Fuwanovel), is interested in highlighting the cool stuff (people, projects, discussions), and is self-motivated to build the recognition program with me. I have a basic framework for how the group will function, but the team leader gets to call a lot of the shots. They'll have fairly generous observational permissions and work with pretty much all the Fuwanovel Projects. Requirements: Follow the forums fairly closely (not obsessively, but you have a pulse for the posters and the new content each week) Willing to learn about all the other Fuwa programs (front site, blog, reviews, moderation, and history) You want to highlight cool people and cool stuff! People deserve warm fuzzies! Self-motivated -- I'll hand you the framework, but a lot of the end product is up to you. You'll get to choose your team members (and how many there are) and you'll have a fair amount of autonomy to run the project Be willing to put up with my failings and walls of text : P Benefits: While I can't pay you (sorry! Fuwa's a negative cash flow venture), you do get to do cool stuff like working with cool people, writing posts in the blog* and forums about the things you want to highlight, have a lot of autonomy and run your own project, and, most important, highlight your friends and fellow Fuwanovel-dwellers and the cool things they do. I agree. Part of that is because the old improvement board wasn't sorted very vigilantly (requests were often made outside the request board) and I didn't take much time to filter them out. That said: site requests/bug reports should 100% and with no exceptions go in the dedicated Requests/Reports board. Right now there are only 3 public sub-boards: the Requests/Reports, Archive (will keep), and the temporary Community Archive which needs to have its topics sorted into the correct boards (after which I'll delete the forum itself). The some of the non-public projects boards also have threads in the Community board, but that's alright for now (until the site workflows get updated in the next day or so).

It's cruel. I know it. Forgive me... Though with people trickling back post-holiday I thought I'd finish it up now so that we don't get used to anything that's just going to change again right away. Finalizing the Forums Reorganization So. Now that I’ve confused many of you with the GD overhaul, I figure now is as good a time as any to finish the rest of the forums reorganization projects. Specifically: the community hub and improvements boards are being merged and the birthday, competition, and giveaway threads have been moved to the Lounge. There are a few more topics to be sorted (they’re currently tucked away in the “(Temp) Community Archive” board), but we’re almost there. The community projects board is focused more or less exclusively on Fuwanovel related work. A guide to where to post different kinds of threads is forthcoming.
