Hi everybody, I'm responding to this, but know that Nayleen was the one to hear your cries, took pity on you, and made your case to me by email (so give him the credit ). We're willing to up the allowed avatar file size. Also, why not bundle in the max allowed PMs? We can up that, too! But you have to earn these changes! Before we'll increase the file size allowance for each avatar, and the PM limit (currently 75, will up it to 100), you as a community must prove that you are worthy by posting a cute, holiday image. Once 10 separate members post holiday-themed pictures using VN characters, we will increase both the avatar size limit, and the PM limit for all members. Here's an example (not included in the 10 images):

Bats, Tay and others lie dead in the Staff Forums' throne room, many clutching the barricade which failed to keep out the loli forces. Ryoji has gone into hiding. Nayleen hasn't been seen since the fall of the Fan Translation board. Forum rules are set to auto-perma-ban any new members who fail to take an oath of fealty to lolidom. The tech support forum has been transformed into a virus facility which is slowly infecting the world's computers with pictures of High-Queen Mare. At that moment, when Steve looks out across the scarred battlefields and the complete transformation of Fuwanovel, does he smile or does he shed a tear?

Ah, man. That's incredible. Happy one year at Fuwanovel, Steve. You're honestly one of my best friends here, and you have never failed to be yourself. That's exactly what I needed from you as a moderator, and you've never let me down. I want to tell everybody a little story about when Steve was made moderator. It's a rare and unique insight into the Ryoji-and-Tay days. Back when the site was much smaller. (~End of March 2013) Ryoji and I had just crested the waves of two or three huge issues and, on a Skype call, we said to each other, "We cannot do that again. We need more moderators to help with the forums so we can focus on the big stuff." We came up with a pretty good-sized list of candidates, actually, and many of the people on the list are still on "the list" today. As we were proposing names, we chose a couple that we knew would be stellar, and then Ryoji said something like, "I feel like there's still something missing. I think I know who we need." "Who?" "I don't know how I feel about it, though." "Okay? Who is it?" "It's Steve." Silence. Me: "It may be crazy, but I think he's absolutely perfect." * Back then Steve was causing all sorts of a ruckus with his love for lolis (he was the first to unleash the loli-ness in any meaningful way on the forums). He drove Ryoji nuts at times. Yet, at that moment in the Skype call, both Ryoji and I knew that Steve was going to be important to Fuwanovel, and would make a good moderator. And I'll tell you why that is. Steve has his thoughts and opinions, and he knows why he has them, and he will share them with you at the drop of a hat. (Really, the man can make a wall of text appear at a moment's notice.) But he'll also listen. And he'll compromise when its wise and/or necessary. He takes every member and idea seriously, and thoughtfully responds every time. As an administrator, one of Steve's best traits is that he's swayed only by the best of ideas. It's this baffling, affable quality to him where he can simultaneously drive one bonkers and be a mirror to test my own ideas, logic, resolve, etc. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: making you a moderator was one of the best choices we ever made. Just to pipe in: Yes! I still am trying to find a good badges system which would show up just under the MAL/VNDB links in the user box around the forums. There are badge systems out there for IP Board, and I've been working with one of the badge system creators to find a solution which works for us. Right now I'm waiting on an update from him, but my hope is the system will allow us to make badges for whatever we want (we can discuss all of what deserves badges as soon as we have a system in place) and an unlimited number of them. Users should be able to display their favorite badges with the user box on each post, with all the rest of the badges showing up in their profile. Still working on it, though!

Zhurai was asking for some clarification on what this whole thing is about. Here's my clearest possible explanation: This Skype call is meant to accomplish three things: Give me a chance to announce our road map for the next few months; Give some much-needed clarity to several issues (such as rules, staff responsibilities, and project priorities) And, perhaps most importantly, give anybody and everybody the chance to have free and open access to me, ask me any question they have (about Fuwanovel, myself, Aaeru's absence, etc.) that is preoccupying them, and also give everybody the chance to talk (in fast, easy audio) about the proposed projects/changes/issues. ------------------------------------ There will be some interesting nuggets thrown in (like new moderators), but my real goal is to lay out our road map for the next few months so that people understand what's going on and where we're headed. If you have other questions, holler! Otherwise, let me know if you think a Skype call is a good/bad idea, and if you're interested.

So we should change the rules so that if the recipe-giver, or the accept-or go AWOL for >4 days, somebody else can step in. Sorry guys! Recipe attempt #2: Many of us here on the site are poor students. This is a very cheap recipe with lots of nutritional value! Tuna Tomato Pasta 3 Cloves of garlic (crushed/cut up) 2 tbsp of olive oil 1 28-oz (796 mL) can tomatoes 1 6.5 oz (186g) can tuna, drained 0.5 tsp dried oregano 0.5 tsp dried basil 0.5 tsp red pepper flakes 0.5 tsp salt 1 tbsp capers (optional but yummy!) (<-- I almost never have these on hand, though) In a large skillet saute the garlic in the olive oil for a couple of minutes until softened. Dump in the tomatoes, juice and all, and mash them up with a fork or potato masher. Add the tuna, seasonings, and capers and stir. Bring to a boil, then lower the heat and simmer for ~15 minutes. Toss with hot cooked pasta and sprinkle with lots of grated parmesan cheese. Makes 4 servings.
