Tabletop Games

I played an Arkham horror spin-off for the first time yesterday. I liked it, but it's a surprisingly long game. For you guys who have played the real series: do games usually last 2-4 hours?
2. Hey guys, I'm having some trouble making the VNDB / MAL appear on separate lines. Tell me if I'm missing something: Default Custom Fields Area for userInfoPane global template: <if test="authorcfields:|:$author['custom_fields'] != """> <foreach loop="customFieldsOuter:$author['custom_fields'] as $group => $data"> <foreach loop="customFields:$author['custom_fields'][ $group ] as $field"> <if test="$field != ''"> <li> {$field} </li> </if> </foreach> </foreach> </if> </ul>
Since we need to get rid of the separate row quality, I deleted the <li> and </li> around {$field} Current Custom Fields Area for userInfoPane global template:
<if test="authorcfields:|:$author['custom_fields'] != """> <foreach loop="customFieldsOuter:$author['custom_fields'] as $group => $data"> <foreach loop="customFields:$author['custom_fields'][ $group ] as $field"> <if test="$field != ''"> {$field} </if> </foreach> </foreach> </if> </ul> No result. Any ideas?
3. Happy Birthday, Luch!

Happy Birthday!

5. I agree. For now, let's limit this to 3 links. We've got VNDB, MAL and I'm open to one more suggestion. Is there a non-anime site that people often use? It'd be good to have a little variety in it. As far as other anime sites go, I can still add custom profiles inside the profile page.
6. Good point. How about this: We'll limit the links to VNDB for each post, then things like MAL are on the profile page only. MAL's active, and we can add more if we need to. Otherwise, things'll get crowded on each post. EDIT: And, new to anime, I've only used MAL. If there are more that need to be added, just let me know (as well as hyperlink path to username) EDIT 2: Well, actually, we could just put them all on one line. It would look okay. Just let me know, guys!
7. (Double post to catch your attention of update) Added VNDB and MAL signature lines. As you can see (to the left) they show up as clickable links. On the profile page, it gives usernames or user ID numbers. That work for you guys? Any comments or suggestions?
8. Sorry, guys! It'll be broken for a bit while I jiffy around some code limitations. I'll post here when I'm ready for you to give it a try! That's the plan.
9. psh... demands, demands... *working*
10. Lol, yeah, sorry -- taking a break! Bwa ha ha ha ha.... Alright, added. With Ryoji's blessing (which, after the above betrayal, may not happen), I'll add a MAL, too.
11. I'm happy to implement this. You want it on profile pages, yeah? (example: sanahtlig)
12. I agree. I'm at work atm, so give me a few minutes to clear my schedule, and I'll get on. Thanks.
13. Kenedjin, Zakamutt -- I am writing you a PM as we speak. Let me say this very clearly: the changes being made are to keep the forums organized. We should all be on the same team, here. If you have issues with changes, please PM the admins. Fuwanovel is a great place. We're working to make it better. We'll have announcements soon.
14. So far no action on this board, and no posts deleted. No posts should be missing. What are you missing?
15. Konata!
16. Hi everybody, This is a heads-up that Ryoji and I are going to be doing some spring cleaning on the forums today. I will be working on the "General Discussion" board (this one), and Ryoji will be in the Anime board. Duplicate topics will be merged, IRC-related topics will continue to be merged into the "IRC Extravaganza" thread, and other small-judgements will be made on a case-by-case basis. Ultimately, we're trying to tidy things up a little. If you're looking for something and can't find it, feel free to PM us. This topic will be deleted when the work is done. Thanks! Taylor
17. Feel free to use the already-converted files (dl here) (be sure to then optimize with android-HD versions in the "android" section of that site). The major advantage of using the converter is that you get to choose both the image resolution and sound quality. The pre-done version has 2 sizes to choose from (small nintendo DS size, android HD). Also, you can convert the Realta Nua version for an all-ages experience using the converter.
18. I'm new to anime, and am currently under the tutelage of Ryoji-sensei. Every show he suggests is completely amazing, and so I've come to expect greatness from his suggestions. Here are two surprises which came from outside his suggestions: Good Surprise - Aku no Hana (Flowers of Evil). Yes, that rotoscoped one currently airing. It's largely dropped its early efforts to give off a horror vibe, and instead has turned into an interesting exploration of characters. The show is very polarizing, yes, but that probably means it's trying new things and pushing some boundaries. In an industry as long-lived as anime, I'd imagine that's a good thing to do, from time to time. Bad Surprise - OreShura. Man... That show had so much going for it: engaging characters, a great first 2/3rds of a season... and then it seemed the writers could never decide what to do with the narrative. The ending felt dishonest and out of place, and left so much promise hanging. (The surprise was -- for the first time in my experience -- a show with a mostly-great season and great characters tripped at the finish line) EDIT: It's okay, Kotomi. We can still be friends : ).
19. PS: I love the Unhack ending art.
20. For the record, I played the game on Hard difficulty (not sure what the online youtube walkthroughs are on), and the AI was pretty darn good. I was challenged, freaked out, and had a blast.
21. I've been thinking about this topic quite a bit, and with Ryoji back, I think it's a good time to ask this: As you (reader) get older, do you find yourself drifting away from anime (or video games) (or any big hobby you had when you were younger)? Is growing up a major component in your experience? Ryoji is an interesting mammal. If you've seen his MAL, you know that he's essentially the all-powerful super-uncle of the Anime gods. (I think that's a fantastic potential title for him, actually...) He's followed and loved anime for a long while. I, on the other hand, am just barely experiencing anime, and am still in the honeymoon phase. That gives two ends of a spectrum, but what about the middle? Could it be that Kendjin (as an example) or others are drifting away because they -- as people -- are changing with age?
22. Welcome to Fuwanovel! The whole exotic pets thing is pretty darn cool. I'm impressed. What kinds of video games do you enjoy? The fact that you're enjoying VNs makes me guess games with good plot-lines and characters? Have any all-time favorites?
23. Just wanted to confirm that IRC-related topics ("Ask me anything" and "What is Youth!?") have just been merged into this topic. There may be more merges happening this afternoon. Glad you guys are having fun, and thanks for your understanding as we do some cleanup.
24. A good ole Ur Quan reference is all I need to start a friendship out on the right foot : ). Welcome to Fuwanovel!
25. I really enjoyed it, too. It represents, in my mind, a shift happening with many AAA games towards character-centric storytelling. It kind of goes back to the idea that there are only so many plots out there (although the Last of Us does a good job at consistently breaking expectations and overused plot devices), and so characters are the vehicle for vibrant stories. I joined the 10/10 group for this one. Fantastic game. PS: This isn't a game to be blown through. You have to take your time, appreciate the huge depth of character-character interactions, and character-environment interactions, and use that noggin to ponder the themes.
